Apple Pencil!!!

Please update it to where we can use the Apple Pencil to take notes on the ppt slide that was imported!!! It would make GenioNotes so much better. Also I can only import one slide set, it would be nice to be able to import multiple slideshows.

Please give me a response and I’ll change my rating!!!

Thanks

Not cool

It’s nice at first.
Everything is good and exactly how it’s supposed to be until it wasn’t.
Used it five times a week every week for the semester. Took a two week break/vacation and now nothing works anymore
Nothing
The one thing it’s supposed to do record audio doesn’t work not even does it not work it’s not possible for it to work the BUTTON that you press for it to record it’s not there in the first place the only thing on my screen is 23 old files that nobody needs doesn’t matter if you have fancy features if there’s no way to get to them GenioNotes website is recommended by colleges how can it be trashy 😡

Needs better photos tool

I’m a user of OneNote by choice, but I’m having to use GenioNotes as it was recommended to me by our accessibility department.

In Microsoft OneNote, when I take a picture it has the option to take a photo, a whiteboard shot or a scan, I believe. In the latter of the two cases, it only captures the whiteboard and allows me to adjust for it. Even when taking a picture at an angle, Microsoft OneNote straightens it out as if I’m standing right in front of the board or screen. I would like to see better image capture tools for GenioNotes .

App is better than website

I use glean for my school and it’s great… only if it’s on phone. When it’s on my laptop or computer it takes forever to load, it overheats my laptop, it doesn’t play my audio recordings and it likes to stop working and freeze up while I use it. So this rating is for the website. Been using it for 2 and a half years now and I always had these problems. Thought it would get better but it seems to only get worse

Why no transcription?

I had given up on glean, and then I saw that you could transcribe and include slides, and I came back for the new semester, ready to try again. But I come to find out the transcription service is only available in the web app. Despite my iPad having 6gb ram and 2.49 gHz, I can’t transcribe. I don't even know if I could view the transcriptions afterwards on my iPad if I put the time in to go to the library to use a computer to transcribe.

It’s not a usefool tool when I have 15 hours a week of transcribed audio and no quick way to go through it. For over a year I have tried to make it work for me. Transcription would save this tool for me, yet Glean doesn’t seem to want to make that an option for all learners, despite transcription coming out months ago.

Humm

GenioNotes provides a clean interface that is easy to use but, features are very limited. What it can do: record apps from multiple sources, you can add notes, audio, and slides. It cannot effectively transcribe audio into a readable format. Most apps will transcribe audio, put it into outline study notes , create flash cards, and quiz you on concepts. Which is part of the active learning process.

App freezes on iPad and Phone

I can use GenioNotes using my laptop but I every time I try to use it on my iPad and phone it freezes. This isa new occurrence. Last semester I could use it on my iPad and my iPhone but now it just freezes up. It has not worked at all this semester. I hope they fix it.

Can we please download our notes as whole files?

Speech to text is nice, but wish it was available to see on iPhones, as I use that more than computers.
I have been searching for a way to download the audio and text notes together (or at all). I want take the notes I make to use in future classes. Will this ever be a feature? Re-recording the audio, copy/pasting the transcripts and then my actual notes isn’t the same if they aren’t put together.

Not in the cloud - difficult to access on the go

I attempt to download the event media on my iPhone. Because it was recorded on my MacBook, it would not download or load until my MacBook was online at the same time as my iphone. It would be more convenient if Glean backed the data on to the cloud so that we could access the recorded material on the go without needing the original device to be online.

Making Glean better

If we could edit the transcripts that would really help with clarity as Glean doesn’t always pick up what is being said accurately. Even if we could save and download the transcripts so we could fix it ourselves, that would be absolutely stellar. If you guys could achieve that then GenioNotes would definitely be a five star experience in my book.

Apple pen functionalities?

Scribble function! Interesting, but I would love to see a interface where you can take continuous notes in that section. I usually use OneNote, but GenioNotes is provided for my accommodation for Uni, and It’s pretty hard to get it to what I want so far. I’m hoping to see the scribble function change a little bit for ease of use

When will we be able to view slides on mobile?

I haven’t been able to fully utilize glean because I use an iPad to take notes in class and I need access to the slides while the professor is lecturing. The update notes say glean now supports viewing slides on mobile but I still can’t see my slides.

Need web updates

I love GenioNotes however it needs to be updated with all the features of the web browser version. I am unable to copy the transcript which is extremely inconvenient when trying to review notes.

App crashing

Hello! I love GenioNotes and have been using it for my accommodations since 2021. Recently GenioNotes has been crashing on me a lot. I always make sure im on the latest update. If I add too many things too fast it will crash. This includes the regular notes, important notes, taking photos, and posting the slides. This is frustrating because I have to be able to add stuff quickly while im in class. If it crashes I then have to go back into GenioNotes and resume the recording so it will end up having a gap. I am not sure if it’s an issue with my phone or if it’s GenioNotes . I genuinely love glean it has helped me so much with school. Hopefully this can be solved in one way or another.

app freezes a lot

It’s a fairly decent app. I have this though my college for an accommodation and it’s a good app but when i go back to review the lectures it always freezes at certain times so i have to close out GenioNotes and then go back to the time it froze at and sometimes i keeps freezing at that one time over and over again. Sometimes it just freezes but a lot of times it happens when i click the forward or reverse button. It’s very frustrating when i’m trying to review my notes and such

stops when phone locks

I love GenioNotes I just wish that I could still be listening to the recording when my phone locked that way I could listen to it when I’m doing things like showering working out, etc. would help me tremendously with being able to retain the information from my classes. I really hope you take this into consideration and work on an update like such

Frozen

GenioNotes would freeze after a few seconds once open. Just deleted GenioNotes and reinstalled, and now seems working.

Review

Great, a few things that could be improved

Great note taking tool for college students

I often have trouble keeping up with the pace of my professors lectures or the ideas, topics, and evidences brought up and discussed in small discussion. Glean has been great for lectures, when it comes to taking notes with many features on individual slides while also letting me record everything that occurs. These recordings always produce great transcriptions regardless of where I am sitting. These recordings always software is also great at distinguishing different voices when it comes to divining up text for discussions. One great feature to see glean add would be to add a plug in with a AI/LLM like Perplexity or ChatGPT to offer greater details while taking notes and adding to the quick outline. The current software creates a basic summary, but lacks key details.

Potentially free for some college students

If you are a college student, you can ask your academic support/student accessibility services team if they would provide this service as a form of note taking aid.
