UPDATE: Excellent AIDS and App!!! (No more) Disconnects Daily!

UPDATE: no more disconnect problems! Works with app seamlessly and I love my programs I’ve set up for different situations. I really love the new Widex Moment hearing aides but WIDEXMOMENT is frustrating me. I love all the features and particularly the PureSound program. But unlike my Evoke app, WIDEXMOMENT disconnects from my HAs every single day and several times a day. I have to kill WIDEXMOMENT and restart it to get it to connect. Sometimes it disconnects from one HA. Sometimes both. But it’s very frustrating. My neighbor was trying to tell me something across the fence. I could not hear her no matter how many times she repeated it. So I pull up WIDEXMOMENT to turn up my aides and the left was disconnected. She just got frustrated and turned around and left while I’m pulling out my phone, killing this stupid app, restarting, waiting for both aides to connect and then pick a program so I can hear outside. Well, she was gone by then. With the Evoke, if one disconnected, I could turn it off and back on without having to kill and restart WIDEXMOMENT which is much quicker. Not so with this one. The only way to reconnect is to kill WIDEXMOMENT . I think I’m seeing a pattern of it disconnecting after streaming but not sure yet. If this could be fixed, I’d be very happy with the Moment HAs and the Moment app.

Update- new version fixed all the issues. Hearing aids great; app horrible

Update- the new version July 2021 fixed the issues. Widex was slow to update WIDEXMOMENT until this time. Glad to see a quick response. I’m sure OS changes are hard to keep up with, but a quick response and update is appreciated.

Changing from 1 star to 5

With the cost of hearing aids, you'd think they would develop a good app. WIDEXMOMENT makes the hearing aids unusable. WIDEXMOMENT developer should wear the hearing aids and the problem wouldn't take long to appear. They did fix the very loud clicking sound when switching on/off streaming. But now they disconnect all day long. Sometimes not reconnecting. Happens even while on the phone and I have to end the call. So embarrassing. Music program makes listening enjoyable again, but streaming music is extremely bad. Sounds like you're riding in a tunnel. Wish I could override it and set to non streaming music. It's like they don't test WIDEXMOMENT . Perfect hearing aids turned unusable via WIDEXMOMENT . I would volunteer to help test if needed. It seems like that's what's missing. If these don't improve, I'm trying another brand, which is sad as the hearing aids are so great. I'll send feedback to their website too as it doesn't appear they look here.

Connection/switching noise with iOS

I tried the Oticon opn 1 for a couple weeks and then WIDEX 440. I wanted to try WIDEX because sound directionality in Oticon seemed poor and it was amplifying noises like tires in cars too much, and music was bad. WIDEX is better with all of these and seem more accurate, although I’m yet to experience it in a noisy speech environment.

However, there something really annoying about WIDEX which throws a wrench at the experience and prompted me to write this review: there is clicking/switching noise anytime streaming starts/ends from iPhone, or even when I simply switch apps, tap on text fields, etc. I’m not talking about intentional sound effects from iOS like keyboard key sound effects (which I have disabled), but rather an undesirable and frequent connect/disconnect kind of noise from the aid speakers. I had to disable Audio routing from accessibility/hearing aids section to eliminate most of this noise, but as a result of that lost automatic iOS sound routing.

Please fix this! Not sure a firmware update can resolve it, but it seems to be less frequent after the aids are turned on in the morning, and then a few hours later it gets worse.

Oticon does not suffer from this problem and I was able to keep audio routing on (automatic)

Still adjusting but need a smarter app

I listen to podcasts already downloaded to my iPhone. One in particular is very well produced with excellent audio quality (and did I mention I download them before listening?) The first time I listened to NA through my hearing aids I was so disappointed at the degraded sound quality. So much for the “moment”. It turns out WIDEXMOMENT defaults to “streaming” for the podcast app but doesn’t give me a non streaming option. The FAQ solution? Turn off my wifi...
Another annoyance, if I am playing a game on my phone I don’t want to hear sound click in my HAs. I should be able to set defaults for all apps where I can choose “never” “ask” or “always” play through HA. I don’t need to stress batteries in either with unnecessary connections.

Version update is good, watch app still needs work

I’ve been using the widex moment hearing aids for about a year. They have been working very well however there is an Apple Watch app but it only really works completely in the presence of your iPhone. Yesterday I had an update of my firmware for the hearing aids and also download the newest iPhone app. It is also installed on my Apple Watch.

My complaint is that I have an Apple Watch that is LTE connected and with WIDEXMOMENT should work with my hearing aids when I go outside without my phone. The fact is that it doesn’t. This is a mistake on the part of white X because an Apple Watch app that doesn’t work without the phone is not an Apple Watch app. Please try to fix this

Disconnecting hearing aids

The wedex moment hearing aids are wonderful with exception of their constant dropping off. The hearing aids utilize the iPhone’s accessibility feature to connect to the hearing aids. WIDEXMOMENT then piggybacks on this connection. However, unlike the Bluetooth feature the accessibility process does not reconnect automatically when you’ve moved away from your iPhone and returned. You must then turn off and back on each hearing aid in order to be re-discovered and subsequently be reconnected to WIDEXMOMENT . This happened all day long-oh so annoying and only $7,000 for that annoyance.

Garbage but you’ll need it.

WIDEXMOMENT needs a serious update. Battery life has a glitch that tells you your aids are dead even though they’re not. Whatever the audiologist puts on there, you cannot delete( I have Zen profiles I don’t need on there and can’t delete myself). “My sound” should have your pre made profiles in there with the option of creating new ones, not just a creation tab. There’s MAYBE four colors throughout the whole app which makes it bland and depressing. As an app developer myself, I could’ve made this in less than 12hrs, BUT it’s something you need if you want any control over your aids which makes WIDEXMOMENT even more cringe. I wouldn’t recommend it, but unfortunately you’ll need it, like a car needs gas, if you want any control of what/how you’re hearing things. Step it up Widex.

Streaming audio disconnect

Widex Moment Hearing aids disconnect when streaming audio, music or video with audio. The hearing aids say a low battery warning and after stopping the music or video, checking WIDEXMOMENT the battery shows low and disconnected. Opening the hearing aid battery door and closing again restarts the hearing aid and battery shows GREEN/CONNECTED. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max I have the latest App 1.3.0 version and it seems since this latest app update several weeks ago is when this has happened. I have installed new batteries and still get the Low Battery/Disconnect. So streaming any kind of audio, whether it be music, a video or even a phone call, it happens. The
engineers or IT team needs to get this problem fixed.

App now is worthless

UPDATE. Called the helpline and everything seems to be working now.

Settings will not stay where I set them. I click on Puresound with level 2 and WIDEXMOMENT instantly changed to Universal with level 1 in one ear and level 5 in the other. I assume this is because of an app update. Even before this - every time I talk on the phone I have to go back and reset my volume levels. I even tried deleting WIDEXMOMENT and reinstalling it. The hearing aids are great but if I had to do it over again I would choose another brand - just because WIDEXMOMENT makes them almost unusable.

Locks up on streaming of sperch

Just got my Moment HAs and they are great, as long as I don’t have the Moment app on my iPhone and bluetooth to the HAs turned on.
If I do WIDEXMOMENT selects a function called “streaming of speech” which limits the sound spectrum and femoved all other program buttons. I am then unable to select any of the universal, pure sound, comfort, social, zen, etc. programs. The buttons are gone and cannot be restored. The streaming cannot be turned off.
The only thing to do is to delete WIDEXMOMENT , turn off bluetooth by forgetting the HAs, take out the batteries and restart the HAs.
There is NO indtructions about this that I have been able to find.
Widex must be able to do better.

iPhone 12 and App

When I first purchased my Widex Moment HA I had the IPhone 7. I had no issues with the connectivity between WIDEXMOMENT and my phone. I recently updated to the iPhone 12 and the connection between WIDEXMOMENT and my HA make it almost unusable!! There is a lot of static and constant disconnect and reconnect while talking to others or listening to music/ videos. The HA themselves work great but WIDEXMOMENT needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

Widex Moment App

My previous hearing aids were Evoke 440’s. I recently replaced them with the Moment 440 mRIC model. WIDEXMOMENT is much more stable than the previous Evoke app. It also adds more options and flexibility while retaining the Sound Sense Learn feature. The only thing lacking is TV Play support. I understand that TV Play will be coming soon. I would have given it 5 stars but with its current lack of TV Play I can only give it a 4 star rating. When Widex adds TV Play I will revisit my review and adjust my rating accordingly.

Update fail

I was able to have my hearing aids keep connected when I first got them. Now that the update has been done my hearing aids don’t always connect when I am making or receiving calls and sometimes only one connects. This is very frustrating as we need these devices. I have found a lot of times where they totally turn off even when they are supposed to be on. Wish all of these bugs were fixed but they got worse with update. Hope they get these old/new issues fixed fast so that it’s not a waste of our time and or money.

Worked great until updates

When I first got the Widex hearing aids and downloaded WIDEXMOMENT roughly one months ago, the whole thing worked fine.
NOW after their app updates they stay connected to my phone for roughly 15 minutes then immediately lose the connection. I’ve tried everything that the support rep suggested to no avail. When I spend $6500 I expect to get what I paid for. But without WIDEXMOMENT I might as well have spent $500 for a pair at Walmart.
WIDEXMOMENT is what allows me to set programs for different situations and without it I can’t make it louder or directional, etc.
I’m not just disappointed I’m disgusted and angry.

Buyer beware: software glitch breaking hardware

I bought my Widex in July 2020. Had a few issues that were fixed. In March of 2021, they started turning off and on spontaneously, which means that they’re saying ‘right’ and ‘left’ into my ears approximately 10-20 times per day. The recent software patch did not fix the issue. In addition, the software issue had burned out transmitters in both aids, meaning that they don’t charge and I can’t hear. This is a real pain, given that a trip to the audiologist takes a few hours for me. I wouldn’t buy these again. I loved my ReSound Linx and wish the audiologist hadn’t suggested this upgrade.

Widex is a hit

I’ve tried several brands since my first pair of Widex aids and am glad I came back. Their sound algorithms make a difference - I hear speech better and can once again enjoy music. Connectivity is 4 stars, but for the most part does the trick. I hardly ever switch programs because these things are so smart.

On the other hand...

I see that many people are legitimately having problems with the watch/Widex interface.
I'm fortunate to report virtually no issues so far (coupla weeks). I also use an Apple watch, so it's a three way connection, fraught with people. Somehow, it works.

Even the music streaming from iPhone is acceptable, though not headphone quality. for a newbie, it's enhanced my world.

App update made it worse!

I waited so patiently for an app update, as my doctor told me it was coming soon. I was so happy that maybe all my problems would be fixed, but they’re WORSE! Constantly disconnecting over and over. *Beeping—*left—*beeping—*right all day long. Constantly feeling like they’ve turned off, but they’re on and muted! Why is this so difficult??? Why is your company so inept????? I can’t understand why you can make such an amazing hearing aide, but require a crappy app to manage them?? I don’t want WIDEXMOMENT at all at this point.

Connection problem

My hearing aids disconnect on a regular basis usually one or the other and I have to go back in and reconnect and repair which is a hassle! My hearing aid specialist is trying to help me but to no avail so far. Has anyone found a resolution to this problem? Is it a problem with WIDEXMOMENT or is it a problem with something else?

Defective

I’m trailing the Moment aids & WIDEXMOMENT performance highly influences my decision to purchase vs. a competitor. I’ve used iPhone apps with other brands during the past four years. This Widex app for Moment is defective. When streaming, every two minutes the sound disconnects from the left ear for a second & gets fuzzy on the right ear. I’ve tested this with two iPhones. It’s annoying and unworthy of the price of the aids. Fix it or I’m simply buying another brand of heating aid.

Disconnect

Like everyone else here WIDEXMOMENT does not stay connected. My IPhone says it’s connected but WIDEXMOMENT is not. PIA.
As I am writing this, WIDEXMOMENT has completely changed. All of my favorites are gone as are all of the pre sets. No more Universal, Pure, front to back adjustability, all are gone. Now I only have Stream Voice or Stream Music. I did try deleting WIDEXMOMENT and reloading it, no change.
This is not a very good introduction to hearing aids.

Frustrating

This so has nice features but every single day it disconnects from my hearing aids. I check my phone settings and usually my phone is still connected, just not WIDEXMOMENT . Extremely annoying.

The medical support thinks it’s a blue tooth issue. However since usually (not always) my phone thinks it’s still connected I don’t think that is correct. I paid a lot of money for these and I expect them to work.

Streaming

I’m enjoying a much better hearing quality with the Moment HA so I’m pleased about that! I am very disappointed with the streaming of music and podcasts which fades in and out unless iPhone is 12 inches away from HA’s. So upsetting that the full functionality of these expensive devices just does not work.

Connectivity

Well this is disappointing. I’ve had my aides for less than two hours and already the connectivity issues described by most reviews. Good thing my aides have a 45 day trial period. If this isn’t fixed within 30 days I’ll be sending these aides back to go with a different brand.

Does not auto connect

New Widex Moment hearing aids will not auto connect to iPhone. I have to reboot my phone before it connects. Once I do connect it will auto disconnects one both hearing aids. Very disappointed and frustrated. App is junk and will probably return hearing aids for a proven model.

The app constantly disconnects from my hearing aid!

This is so frustrating. My app constantly shows that my hearing aid isn’t connected, even if just 5 minutes ago I was using WIDEXMOMENT . So then I’m forever to delete and reinstall WIDEXMOMENT EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Drops one or both aids multiple times a day. Turning them off/on or killing WIDEXMOMENT don't fix the issue routinely either.

I’ve been wearing hearing aids my entire life. I’ve had starkey, widex, & Oticon, phonaks. Currently I’m in the widex moment. While I can hear the word/ environment very well, voices are being drowned out, too soft. And the Bluetooth is absolutely crap. The connection is hit or miss. The fact a a streamer device is required to be worn in addition to the hearing aids in order to connect to the iPhone at this day and age is absurd. This the is 1st time I have literally kept my old hearing aids with me while trialing these hearing aids. Very very very disappointed.

Well my audiologist fixed the disconnect problem by totally reinstalling the firmware on the hearing aids. Now the streaming problem is awful. It goes to streaming for a text message. My Wyze camera notifications come through the HA and the sound quality in voice streaming sucks. Streaming should be a CHOICE not a take over. These things are too expensive for this kind of shoddy crap. I have to disconnect the HAs from Bluetooth to get any quality sound

Bluetooth issues like everyone else. Stop denying there’s a problem and fix it! My audiologist has been very helpful. Updated, replaced, reset, it’s your turn Wydex! This is BS. If I bought a cheap pair of hearing aids id say this is on me. I didn’t! It’s on you. I’m thinking class action at this point.

Huge problems with multiple new Widex 440s not connecting to Iphone SE 2nd geneartion (bought Nov 2020). App allows program changes but NO streaming in Right ear. AFter 3 weeks just dies. Tried a replacement and same thing

Moment 440 app not working at all , it opens for a brief second and shuts down immediately. Upgraded to these hearing aids 5 weeks ago. 2/7/21 app stopped working. waiting for a distributor to contact me.

I have paired my HA Widex moment 220 with iphone 11. My mobile is silent is in silent mode. Phone rings sounds only in my HA. My mobile is not on silent. Will phone ringing sounds in both HA as well as phone or it should be only in HA. Please clarify.

I bought the moment 440 from a friend who didn't like or understand how to use them at first they were great for my hearing level but after the last update the sound is very poor which has made me revert back to my widex clear 440 which are very good aids. I would be grateful if you could please let fix this problem you have with the app,s and give me back the sound and volume control I had at the start looking on the Web others have problems as well this should not be happening considering the money which is spent buying these aids which promised us better quality aids and sound. I have always liked widex aids but this problem is making me consider getting another make of wireless aids if I can't use my moment aids which again were great from the start until your apps updated mine and they are no longer the aids I bought. I have the Widex Moments 440. When I first got them I was having problems with streaming music and phone calls being intermittently being cut off. Popping and clicking noises when switching from different apps. or when receiving or ending a phone call. There was a recent firmware update which corrected this problem but the Bluetooth problem of streaming music and phone calls cutting out still exists. I tried it on another iPhone 7 and a iPhone 12 and the problem is still present. My Audiologist sent my hearing aids to Widex and they sent me a new pair. I could not tell if they were a new pair or if they sent my old ones back??? Still have the Bluetooth problem. Frustrated!!!
