Winix HR1000 drops wifi connection everyday
2022-05-24
by HR1000 Owner
I have had my two HR1000s for several years. Recently started using the schedule function in WinixSmart to adjust fan speed throughout the day. Every day and several times a day the HR1000 app says one HR1000 or both are off line. The HR1000 wifi light is constant blue that normally means connected. I turn off the wifi then back on again. Wifi light returns to constant blue. Then app says connected. Only to happen again. I have great wifi signal at both HR1000 locations. Other devices on my network have no problems. Frustrated!
New app - no bueno...

Just “upgraded” WinixSmart to “WINIX Smart” from “WINIX Smart America” and after needing to re-pair my unit (not sure why my account couldn’t transfer...) seemed to work great for all of a half hour. Not WinixSmart crashes within 5 seconds of opening it every single time. Reached out to support a week ago and haven’t heard anything back - never heard back from support last time I reached out either... The old app wasn’t great, but at least it worked for what it did. The purifier works great, but why pay for the WiFi version when WinixSmart doesn’t work at all, and it can’t connect to any other smart home stuff? WinixSmart is a flaming pile of garbage. FIX WinixSmart.
WiFi feature does not work

by Knss
The purifier itself is great: I like the filter options, cleaning is easy, etc, but the WiFi feature is total crap. When I first purchased my Winix and set up the WiFi it worked great, I wasn’t having any connectivity issues at all and was able to check in on it anytime. But one night I think my power went out and after the Winix booted back up the WiFi started failing. I could no longer connect to the purifier through WinixSmart , the pairing option also no longer worked- so it went back to being a regular purifier that I had to physically turn on and off when needed. Which just as a purifier, works well, but the main feature of it being WiFi/smart connected went down the drain. They recently updated WinixSmart and I was hopeful that I could reconnect/pair my purifier to the WiFi again but once I get to the last step it always says “WiFi connection is unstable” and never goes through. Extremely disappointed.
Pain in the @$# to set up.

I’ve been trying to get it to connect to my Wi-Fi network for a while now. Yes, I have a 2.4 GHz setup. After about 5 tries (each time it fails you have to disconnect from the winix machine, unplug it, and then start all over) it will won’t connect to my network.
Not worth it. I’ll just leave the little filter reset light blinking. What do I need a smart app for on an air filter anyway?
Btw I don’t hate the purifier as much as I hate WinixSmart . Filter is okay, although replacement filters seem pricey compared to other air purifiers that I own. Glad there are Chinese knockoffs.
The Winix app forces you to opt in to location permissions as part of connecting to Wi-Fi before you can set up a new device. This is intrusive and breaks the “no data is collected” promise in WinixSmart description. I’m fine with location-based air quality data for those who are interested, but I do not want that feature and am unable to set up my air purifier as a result.
Edit: the developer’s response here is not helpful (not to mention that it gets my name wrong). If the location information is only used to show outdoor air quality, it should be optional to enable and I should be able to set up the air purifier without enabling location. As it stands now, I still am forced to use my purifier without Wi-Fi. There needs to be an app update that makes location optional, not required.
Horrible app, bad cleaner, bad experience
2022-10-29
by Mobilemind
One year later WINIX is a reject on all fronts- app, integration, web, air cleaner, filters, support experience. Inferior electronics, dysfunctional app. WiFi system fries itself after 6-8 months. Bottom line- buy a higher quality product from another company such as Dyson.
I’ll tell you the same thing I wrote to Costco HQ– do not buy WINIX products. Bad support for app. Replacement air filter boxes arrive already opened, crushed, or both. Support largely consists of reset everything and try again for app/cleaner, or contact shipping carrier for supply issues. Very weak and inconsistent handling of user credentials across apps (iOS/Android) and customer web site (poorly implemented WordPress).
C545 pairing broken on iOS 14
2022-11-30
by TheophilusTheSmall
Update: Found a workaround that let me pair the C545. I had to allow it to use Precise Location (had to enable it in Settings -> Privacy -> Location -> Winix). That allowed WinixSmart to ask for Local Network access. After pairing, I turned off Precise Location and WinixSmart still works. Still poor pairing experience that needs to be fixed. Winix has no business knowing my location precisely. Will update stars when this is fixed.
Original:
Bought at Costco, can’t pair it. It’s stuck at trying to connect to on-device WiFi, likely due to WinixSmart not asking for Local Network access permissions. Should have been fixed by now.
Poor response time in app
2022-12-31
by Jjack660
I have really enjoyed the air purifier itself, but the application has a lot of room to improve. The interface on the purifier isn’t terribly intuitive so using the mobile app is my preferred method. WinixSmart has a very slow response time and sometimes doesn’t work without multiple taps in wash button leading you to not know what it has actually done.
With a little work this could be a great experience and the overall experience with the product has been positive. Also, the Alexa integration seems to be broken.
App crashes
2023-02-01
by Lorttle
I’ve had the purifier for awhile and it has always worked great. Recently WinixSmart has been crashing so I’ve been unable to access any of the features of the purifier which is frustrating. Tried called customer service and was unable to get through to anyone. I realize are difficult times with Covid and the fires so resources are limited. Not sure if it’s an iPhone update issue or what but it is frustrating. The purifier does work great, but without WinixSmart it is limited.
The ability to see AQI history of the current day is useful, but WinixSmart doesn’t allow the user to see individual past days for comparison, only weekly and monthly averages. On a daily basis we see spikes in air quality related to cooking and other household activity, but we are unable to compare days to see if there’s a pattern. If the purifier and app are able to record daily AQI changes, why not make the info accessible? Seems like a missed opportunity in WinixSmart .
Excellent Device Awful Software
2023-04-03
by TimW2
The fit finish and operation of the HR1000 device is excellent in most aspects. The hardware itself works reliably in all modes with variable fan speeds. Manually changing the settings is clear and easy to understand.
Both the prior version and the current version of the software suffer from poor Wi-Fi implementation. The manual clearly states to connect to 2.4 GHz which works fine when initially set up and if nothing is changed or moved will continue to work. However, a simple power outage or unplugging will erase connection settings requiring the entire set up to be repeated. Worse, the Wi-Fi power on power off button does not work in a reliable fashion. After changing filters a reset button to indicate new HEPA filters does not work. Bottom line excellent filter hardware for 400 square-foot apartment. The software needs work to maintain reliable connection and the proxy set up is not real liableLeaving your device exposed with no password
Doesn’t recognize iCloud email addresses
2023-05-05
by BamaDave01
After spending over an hour trying to set up my account, using various passwords; having password reset codes sent to my iCloud email; deleting and reinstalling WinixSmart several times; and trying to contact customer service (not available—they wanted to call me back); I finally gave up and created an account using my gmail address. That worked. Curious that an iPhone app won’t work with an iCloud email! WinixSmart itself seems to be okay, except that it doesn’t recognize my city of almost 100,000 people as a valid address, so I had to register my location as a smaller town located 20 miles away. WinixSmart , as I said, is okay, but doesn’t add any real functionality except to allow me to control the purifier from my bed instead of getting up and moving to it 7 feet away.
Why is the WiFi on my purifier constantly blinking?
2023-06-05
by Middleageguy
The air purifier itself is great. WinixSmart has some useful features like programming a schedule, filter life countdown and user manual. My problem with WinixSmart is that half the time it’s telling me I’m disconnected with the appliance when I just synced with it the previous night. I have two air purifiers in the house; one in the living room the other in the bedroom both are the same model. I’m starting to suspect that WinixSmart cannot distinguish the two; perhaps because it’s the same model? Maybe it gets confused monitoring two of the same model under the same network? Hope this can get fixed soon
Needs a few fixes but otherwise great

Using this application has been great! When properly paired its responsive and quick to respond to the unit for the remote features. All-though the schedule features have a few issues. I’ve scheduled and tested on multiple occasions. It won’t update correctly when scheduling modes, wether plasma wave is set to on/off. It always comes on regardless of choice?
I have dogs that sleep in my bedroom at night, although they are clean my furniture is consistently covered with a fine layer of fuzz and dander. Not since installing my WINIX. Some reviews mentioned difficulties setting up, it wasn’t too bad. As I can I will buy one for upstairs, for the living room and study. The phone app makes it easy to manage. Highly recommend.
It works!!!
2023-09-08
by TheLifetaker
It simply works for me. The instructions says use only with a 2.4ghz network not 5g network. Check your router. There is an option for 2.4ghz and 5g if you have both. On your phone, download WinixSmart , the first switch to the 2.4ghz network if you have one, connect via wifi and then link it with Alexa. Now mind you sometimes Alexa may not recognise this immediately. In this case, you can add that skill to you Alexa in the Alexa app.
No More Headaches!

by BeachShiba
I have COPD and even before the fires here in the NW, I was waking up every morning with headaches. When we were enduring the smoke last month, I purchased a box fan and filter and it worked-but after some thought about my health condition, I took the plunge with this.
I have been using it for 3 weeks now and my headaches are gone. I feel I sleep more deeply. It took all of 5 minutes to get it up and running even downloading WinixSmart and integrating it. When I go to bed I simply use WinixSmart on my phone to turn it on.
I love the features on WinixSmart as well. Love this and highly reccomend!
Reassurance: Be still my heart

We were evacuated from our home because of the wildfires. We had no idea if our house was still standing much less filled with smoke! After two days, I noticed WinixSmart and remembered its function. I dialed it in and was relieved to see it was functioning, my filters life had dropped by 5% and my inside air was “good”. Best yet, my house had to be standing if that was all true. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. We are still under evacuation, but each night I can check and see my lil house is still there and my air is good! I sleep a lot better knowing that.....

I really love the system because I can control it with my phone I bought it from Costco‘s have a great deal I would love to buy some more unfortunately the prices of gone up more than I can afford now I’ll look out for sales around Maybe you can send out a discount coupon thank you
I like the AQ information but I wonder if more information could be provided in WinixSmart . I’ve wanted to know what might be causing the change in AQ when the led changes from blue to yellow or red. Additionally if the AQ is bad outside a link to a site like wunderground as to what is causing the bad air would also be interesting.
What’s ON? What’s OFF?
2024-12-18
by RobertValenzuela
This C545 app indicates that the unit is off when in reality it is on. When the unit is off, WinixSmart says it is on (in the control section). Go figure. App is only good for toggling even if the status is erratic but regains status after toggling many times. No clue as to know whether the unit is on or off when accessing it remotely (outside the house). Then, there’s yet another on/off switch under my units page under the top-right window symbol which also contradicts aforementioned setting. Again, go figure. I have one unit. iPhone 11 Pro Max and iOS 13.4.1 and using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The pairing procedure to my Wi-Fi went smoothly though. The location request is for WinixSmart to retrieve the air quality outdoors in your area and compare it with current indoor air quality, nothing more.
Can’t create account, app provides no feedback
2024-12-18
by Pjlennon
I downloaded WinixSmart and am trying to create an account (required to use app), ... but while I provide an email address for email/username, and create a password, the “[save information and] Sign Up” button remains unresponsive/grated out the entire time. Can’t even create an account to so much as USE WinixSmart . WinixSmart provides no feedback to indicate the nature of the problem (e.g. use at least one number and male password at minimum 8 characters long), ... nothing, no feedback and nothing happen. What a frustrating experience. No wonder WinixSmart has 1.5 stars as of this writing. That’s 2 stars too many!!!! What a piece of garbage. I so donmt feel like returning this hardware but now I must. If I can’t do something this basic, Lord knows what else is in store. Grrrrrr ....
Worked for about 6 hours

by TheITGuru
I just purchased this unit, was very simple to get it connected to my network. After about 6 hours I lost connection to the unit, the Wi-Fi light is constantly blinking on the unit and there is no way I can reconnect to it. I’ve tried deleting WinixSmart , deleting the unit from WinixSmart , tried to perform multiple resets on the unit all with no luck. I then spent more time than I should Have researching how to factory reset the unit with no luck. There is NO helpful online documentation and no useful troubleshooting documentation online. I will be returning this unit this weekend as it’s useless if WinixSmart integration isn’t there. Not worth the money & specially not worth the label “Smart”, as there’s nothing smart about this design, documentation or support.
****FIX THE APP DEVELOPERS!!!****
2024-12-18
by Lovealways2020
Do the developers even read these comments because I have YET to see ONE reply from them and everyone knows a great developer, hell, even a good sub-par developer replies to the customers who are leaving feedback for them. It’s how developers are able to produce great apps and products—because they pay attention to their customers and they listen to what they say! Without customers, whether it’s paying for the product WinixSmart is designed for, or if its WinixSmart itself, you won’t have an app or product if you don’t fix the problems QUICKLY!!!! Costco doesn’t hold on to items that produce problems for their customers. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets pulled earlier than planned because of the poor design and functionality of WinixSmart and the lack of concern or effort on the developers end. Do something for WinixSmart Winix developers! That is if you want to have WinixSmart long.
I tried for an hour setting this up an even watched the video. I’m in IT so I know how to setup WiFi but could not get it to connect to my iPhone 10. Then I decided to read the reviews and read where you have to let WinixSmart always know you location to setup. I tried that and it went through the setup with no issues. I never let an app know my location so the are not tracking me. I was selecting this time only. Bad app!!!
Need to allow it to check location to work
2024-12-18
by Colored Wolf
Like a lot of others, I was unable to get my app to work using ios13. I was going to remove WinixSmart for good but found one reviewer say you have to allow WinixSmart to check your location in order for it to work. After I did that, everything else fell into place. As for WinixSmart itself, it’s pretty good. It shows you the status of your filter, the history of the room’s air quality via sensor, tells you the reported outside air conditions, and allows you to schedule the air purifiers modes. Good app once it works, but frustrating install! 3 stars.
App is perfectly fine

by Helplesss
Not sure if people had an olde version, but WinixSmart works perfectly fine for its purpose. I setup the filter in minutes. As other people notes, make sure you are connecting to 2.4ghz band. I always choose to show these as separate signals on my router because most home automation device don’t use 5ghz. As for WinixSmart itself, very user friendly and all I need out of an air filter. My only complaint is the indoor air quality. Even when the rating is good the graph never drops into the good section of the chart.
Works good after frustrating setup

We had trouble getting the unit setup. Figuring out how to get the right level of internet was the biggest problem. Also, you need to put your unit near your router. 1. I had to figure out how to go into WiFi settings on my iPhone and put the WiFi on Low Data Mode to get the WINIX network to show up. Then I needed to go into the Winix network and also put it on Low Data mode. 2. Then you have to be near your router with the unit and when you hit the next button it will pop up a box to pick your home network and enter the password. You should then get prompts to name your unit and location and then WinixSmart works.
I had to work out each thing separately and close WinixSmart and start over countless times before I got it to work. Hopefully this will help you have an easier time of it.
I wish WINIX had put more informative instructions, especially letting you know you and your WINIX unit have to be near your router.
iPhone X and up work around
2024-12-18
by Jay8808
WinixSmart cannot connect to the purifier using an iPhone X and up. I have iPhone X, XR, 11 pro, and 11 pro max and none can finish the setup. They get stuck during the WiFi part of the configuration where you have to connect the phone to the device in WiFi settings. However, I have an old iPhone 6 and was able to register the device on the network using it. Once registered, you can open WinixSmart on the newer model iPhones and your purifier will appear all set up. Other then the setup frustration, WinixSmart seems to work fine with the air purifier.
After several days of struggle with the air purifier unit WiFi setup, I discovered WinixSmart requires location services on and allowed to complete the setup. It requires it to establish a location for outdoor AQI comparaison. Once initialization is complete, you can always deny access to location services for WinixSmart specifically under your OS settings. Since resolving the issue, WinixSmart has worked great and I am very happy with the unit. I might go buy a second one soon.
Had problem but fixed it

I had problems trying to connect to the WiFi network. After I tried 15 several times, I figured out what the problem was. Just follow WinixSmart prompt procedure until you get to the home WiFi network, connect to your home WiFi by putting your password manually. It doesn’t do automatically. You just need to type your password in once you are connected. Then you’re set to go. I am just trying to help out. Hopefully this helps someone with the troubleshooting. Thanks. This is one of the best decisions I ever made by buying this purifier.
No problems here

I’m not sure what is causing all the commotion but I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with WinixSmart. I’ve plugged it into different places of my house and it always connects to my WiFi network. I do have a mesh network so the signal is really good. Also, you need to have the 2.4ghz band available, which is kind of annoying but not a big deal for me at least. In fact, I recommend having this 2.4ghz on a different network name (SSID) to separate it and make sure there are no issues.
Low Data Mode
2024-12-18
by Ezplaynodelay
Okay so I purchased 2 of these. Let me cut to the chase. I couldn’t get the first one connected I tried many times changed routers moving it close to the router. Nothing. I read somewhere to change the winix to lower data mode once your phone is connected to it in the setup mode and then wait until the phone switches to the WiFi radio buttons. (Just because it’s checked doesn’t mean it connected yet, wait for radio signal) Then you return to WinixSmart and you will then get the option to add it to your router. Make sure you use the 2G option 5G won’t work. I hope this helps everyone.
App works fine when you follow instructions
2024-12-18
by Armyg316
I have an iPhone X and did not experience any of the issues seen in some of the reviews. I downloaded WinixSmart , setup an account via WinixSmart and once I logged in, I just followed the prompts to add my air filter. YOU HAVE TO BE ON A 2.4GHZ network. It tells you this in WinixSmart and paper instructions. If you have a dual band router, your phone will likely be on 5 ghz (if it’s not super old) and you will encounter issues. I tested this myself and couldn’t connect until my phone was actually connected to a 2.4ghz network. It’s not enough to have the ability to add a new device on 2.4, your phone needs to be connected to 2.4 at the time you set it up. App has worked flawless for me and I have not had any issues what’s so ever.
I was with everyone else and could not make it past the WiFi portion of the connection instructions (I have an iphoneX). BUT it is working again on iOS 13.1.3! Note: My fiancé told me there is ANOTHER update, which I have not accepted yet.... looking forward to seeing if there are app problems again with anyone who updates to 13.2.3. I’ll be holding off for the time being given how much trouble I’ve also had with other Wi-Fi connectivity- based apps.
