Saved me a trip to the doctor
It’s hard to believe, but this thing is AWESOME!! How does a thermometer app get 5 stars? When, from my phone, it helps me know if my son is sick and needs to go to the ER or just to rest and recover. Serious lifesaver!! I bought the thermometer because it was well reviewed and I thought the app/internet combo would be pretty cool, maybe a little helpful. However, when it’s 3am 😴, your son is screaming 😭, you have no idea what to do next 😳, and the app actually tells me get his fever down and manage him at home. That’s a winner 🎉🎉🎉! It has profiles for the whole family, I can keep track of everything, including symptoms when any of us are sick, in one place, the app already has the fever info because it’s connected. Then if I go to the doc, I have a full record of what’s happened when and for how long. F#*%ING AMAZING!!!!!
Missing a lot!!!
Either I’m missing something or it’s not there! I have two kids sick at once. If I don’t have the app OPEN and logging the child real time, I can’t indicate which temp was for which child at that time! I have to go in and delete temps. THEN, I cannot manually enter a temp for a specific time! I’ve figured out that the only item you can enter for a specific time was the medication, so my temp updates were all in the medications color. Further, I have been logging temps and meds for 3 DAYS and my history only saves the last 12 hours! That was USELESS when speaking to the dr! All of this needs to be fixed! I will stick to the old fashion pen and paper thanks!
Best app ever!!!
I’m a mom of 3 and I’m so happy that Kinsa saved me a trip to the doctors office! My youngest was feeling really sick, but after taking her temp and adding her symptoms, this app told me I could help her feel better at home. I called my doctor just to check, and he was really impressed with the guidance this app gave me - and agreed I didn’t need to come in unless she started feeling worse. So thankful! I will be using this app every time now for all my kids - and myself! Thank you kinsa!
Thank you peace of mind!
Thank you for making such a great product. The thermometer is much faster than any other I’ve bought from a drugstore but it’s the app that really puts this product into a whole new level. It is such a relief to see the next steps in the app about giving my child medication or taking them to the doctor. With a baby, it really helps calm me down. Great use of technology right here.
New phone not working
I really loved this when it worked with my iPhone 7 but got the 11 and now it won’t sync or communicate. I’ve deleted the thermometer from my phone and reconnected/resynced and nothing is working. Even got the new app/firmware. The thermometer seems to work great and is fast but the app is letting me down. Doesn’t communicate, I have to manually add all temps, I did like the lag out of the app that says to only use with smart stick, also was able to edit temps/meds in case times were not correct. Sliding scale to manually enter temp isn’t very accurate either. I rather type them in and not use the sliding tab.
I used it this week for my daughter's fevers, symptoms and medications. It's useful to look back on what had happened. I can log a time for what time she took a medications but symptoms, temperatures, and diagnosis are only logged for that exact time. I'd like to be able to go back and add what time I noticed a symptom or took her temperature. If I don't log it in immediately, it didn't give me an option to add the time. Does that make sense?
Works great, when it works
This app is a great idea. It is just not reliable. I get the “uh oh, something went wrong” page pop up and it doesn’t record the readings. The problem is, that page only pops up the NEXT time you go to use the app...so all of a sudden it is a guessing game as to what the last temperature reading was. Great if you are just “checking” a temp. Not so great when your little one has a 105 fever from an infection and you are sent home from the ER and told to monitor his temperature. Good thing we didn’t rely solely on technology and recorded his temps by hand.
Useful, but could use some updates
This is a great app to be able to look back and see a timeline of when your child is sick and keeping up with everything, but a feature to manually log the time for temps, symptoms, etc like there is for dosing medicine would me nice because I don’t always remember to go in and add those things immediately. That’s why I’m only giving it 4 stars.
I think it would be really beneficial to be able to write notes in the timeline about how the child is feeling at the time or other information you want to remember for when you talk to the doctor. I’m currently writing notes in a phones note app, but it would be nice to have it all in one place and in line with the other events on the timeline.
I just need it to work!
The idea is a great one, however, when it takes 3-5 min for the app to load it defeats the purpose! They said monitor her temp at the ER but I can’t! Then when it loads I get an err on the thermometer by then my 3 yr old who has the flu is more cranky and doesn’t want to cooperate any longer. I hope you work the bugs out soon!
Get way to track over time plus advice
I love that the app can track symptoms and fever over time for easy relaying to the doctor. The guidance piece is also useful, even though it can seem like common sense, when your child is sick it’s nice to see what the recommendations are!
We love our Kinsa and the app is so helpful when you’re not sure what a certain temp means. For instance, do I take my child in for a 101 degree fever? I love that the app tells me what’s “normal” and “high”. Love the ability to track my whole family in separate profiles. This is a game changer!
Super helpful when my son got sick!!
I bought this thermometer at a CVS to track my son’s fever and symptoms. It not only tracked all of this info automatically but gave me really helpful guidance about what to do based on his fever level and symptoms! Amazing tool when your little one gets sick!!
1. Temperature input using a slider is just annoying. Also, have to choose reading type every single time (oral, ear, etc). It would be better if it would remember last used option or if we could set default. 2. I wish there was a way to import data from the old APP. 3. I can't add notes like the old APP, which means I can’t record a diagnosis that isn't listed. (The same thing with symptoms.) 4. No way to export data. Only using because it syncs across devices...
The old version of the app let you send the information via message (great to send to parents that aren’t home with the sick child)...it also started to auto fill the medication names (great when you’re up exhausted with a sick child). They’ve ruined such a great app! Maybe I can still use the smart stick app and call it a day, because this new version for the quick care I’ve got is garbage.
