UpLift - Depression & Anxiety Reviews

About: UpLift is the first self-help app for depression and anxiety of its kind. It's
based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, tested, and shown to work.

About UpLift

Because this type of counseling does not require the presence of a therapist, attempts were soon made to automate the process, first with “bibliotherapy” (CBT self-help books), and then with “CCBT,” or Computerized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Pilot Study on UpLift – A Computerized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Mobile App for Depression.

A pilot study of 80 UpLift users showed that in just 1 month, those who stuck with the program had nearly a 50% reduction in depression scores that lasted, as well as a 37% reduction in anxiety scores.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of psychotherapy based on the idea that modifying thought and behavior patterns was more important than understanding the psychological origins of behavior.

UpLift is the first self-help app for depression and anxiety of its kind.

UpLift uses our own proprietary programming technology to make it dynamic and responsive and modern UX design to make it a pleasure to use, while maintaining tried-and-proven CBT methods at it's heart.

It's based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which has been used to treat people with anxiety and depression for over 30 years.

Your subscription of 1 year will automatically be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same subscription length and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

UpLift includes a free Mood Journal, otherwise known as a mood diary.

UpLift provides you with 11 interactive psychology sessions that are around 45 minutes long each week.

You can unlock all of the sessions and the entire toolkit via an auto-renewing subscription with a 7 day free trial.

UpLift is free to download and the first session is free of charge.

UpLift was developed by expert psychologists and leaders from the field of mobile mental health.

In the sessions, you'll be answering questions, doing self care exercises, and getting customized feedback and guidance to strengthen your well-being.

Finally - An app that gets it right!

I’ve used every CBT app on iOS. this app is different because it starts where someone would need to start. Also, it’s not predictable. There is structure built in in a linear way. So all you have to do is focus on the work and not UpLift . I hope they make more apps like this one. Well done! A+ (and that says a lot coming from me, trust me)

Intrusive, glib, and disregards input

UpLift is not designed for people who have problems that exist outside their own thoughts. It’s definitely not trauma-informed, and has no way to support people who try the exposure therapy it recommends. It doesn’t even have a way to determine what kinds of things a person is avoiding, yet still recommends exposure therapy.

The responses from the program are not help and disregard user’s answers.

I’m trying to live gracefully with a painful, degenerative illness.

UpLift is NOT:

-Trauma informed

-Considerate of people with disabilities or living with other extreme circumstances such as abuse, civil unrest, or poverty.

-Designed to give an appropriate response to input. Regardless of how you respond, it gives unhelpful prompts assuming your emotions are based on a “thought error.” Claims (sans source) that the majority of all low moods are based on thought errors. Based on what peer reviewed studies?

UpLift does:

-Make fun of you for having a low mood. It’s response to me feeling low today because I received devastating medical news was, “Did you call out of work today and stare at a piece of corn on the floor?” Then implored me to find the thought error on which my mood is based after I answered twice that my low mood is NOT based on a thought error.

-Continue sending prompts after I deleted UpLift .

So so helpful

UpLift is really incredible. I don’t have enough good things to say about it. This is the first review I'm writing for an app, that says a lot for me! It’s been helping me tremendously as I navigate through a lot right now. Thank you to everyone who contributed tomaking this happen. I hope many people get to use it and see their days getting better.

Educational, applicable and responsive

I like how responsive UpLift is to what you’re writing. It suggests advice or info that relates to the info you enter. Offers easily applicable suggestions that are helpful and practical, and gives many options so you can do what feels most comfortable. It’s also very patient and suggests you take your time with each exercise.

Helpful

I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for more than a year. UpLift has been helpful for reframing my thoughts and alleviating some symptoms. The owners have been very kind and supportive when I emailed a question to them.

Does not work at all.

I could not login this morning, it did not recognize my login credentials through Apple although I have a year subscription for $70. Then I found an screen that let me ‘restore purchases’ and that let me at least see some screens, but all my data was lost, the setting screen is a white block with no content (had to force close) and all other content is locked. For what I am paying this is really unacceptable. I have less access than someone who is using the free option.

I will update my review once this is addressed.

No contact support whatsoever!!!!

I like the layout and how UpLift is supposed to guide you through CBT. I paid for the premium subscription to access all features and was really excited to get started! But there were a few app issues I would run into (like not being able to proceed to the next module after finishing the one). I emailed the support email multiple times with no replies for assistance with the issue. So after 2 weeks I canceled my subscription and deleted UpLift . Shame.

Mental health....?

I downloaded UpLift to see if it’s good for my boyfriend, he is going through some stuff right now and I’m not yet sure that it’s depression yet but it won’t hurt to try. As soon as I sign up and everything, I was asked to subscribe....? For one no, i just wanted positivity in his life when he thinks there isn’t any. Also shouldn’t mental health help be free...? Could be just me but I think it should. I’m so disappointed in this world!

Just kicks me out.

Ugh! When I open UpLift , I do everything when you first get it, and then I press "Commit to My Plan" or whatever. And then it kicks me off. I can't say much for this review because I CANT EVEN GET STARTED! 😡 It could just be my phone, but PLEASE fix this!!

I really hope you try to fix this! I really hope it's an awesome app, but how it's going right now, it's not working. Thank you for your time.

I love UpLift and I would give it five stars however I’m having an issue logging in. Once I enter the information and pressed sign in it would freeze and not log me in.

Love!!!

I love love love UpLift!!! I haven’t even paid for the premium yet and I still get so much out of it! Am definitely going to upgrade soon! So worth it!

Great app

I really love the content. The only thing I don’t like is that if you can’t finish a session and have to exit out of UpLift , it doesn’t save your progress. You have to start that section all over again.

Worthless “trial”

Signed up 2 days ago for the free 7 day trial but all the features are still locked. I’ve deleted and redownloaded, signed out and signed back in, cancelled subscription and then resigned up. Nothing. Either it’s a major tech glitch or a worthless scammy trial, but either case isn’t good. What’s the point of a 7 day trial if you can’t even test out UpLift except for a dumb “mood journal”?

By

Trial is false advertising

I signed up for the 7 day trial, but already see a yearly subscription dollar amount being deducted from my bank account. That is completely false advertising and absolutely better be corrected on my bank account.
Honestly, it is disappointing you would provide false marketing to people who are struggling with their mental health. 😔

I like it

It has been helping me out with my mental state and anxiety issues

Charged me a day early

I did a 7 day trial to see how I’d like it. On the seventh day I went to cancel my subscription and I found it had charged me before the day was over. Now I’m out like $60 bucks or whatever it was

Living with Depression since Childhood

TL;DR: UpLift is based on science that works, is easy to use, effective, and app creators are very helpful.

As the title states, I have been living with depression since childhood. I finally got help in my early 20’s in the form of medication and I attended therapy for 3 years. The combination worked for me. Almost 10 years later, I am still on medication and my lows do not get nearly as low as they did without meds. I am finishing my masters degree in counseling, I work, and I am a single mother to an awesome teen. Life should be great, but depression is a tricky beast. I’ve been struggling with low moods, lack of joy, and irritability. Being in isolation since March during a global pandemic, political upheaval, and environmental chaos is enough to make anyone feel down. So I found UpLift.
So far, I have completed 4 chapters/lessons and they have really helped me to separate myself from symptoms of depression. Having lived with depression for pretty much my entire life, it’s easy to assume that these feelings are my personality. But they’re not. They are symptoms of a mental health issue which can be overcome. UpLift is based on CBT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective in treating depression. It’s been helping me. I feel more like myself than I have in quite a long time. I’m very grateful and I suggest UpLift to anyone who is struggling with depression and/or anxiety and is ready to learn how to make changes to feel better. If you read this far, you’re a rockstar! I wish you well on your journey.

Can’t access support

I want to dive into UpLift but could not access the Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
I tried to access support and that server was not responding. I’m guessing they are having server issues and I will check back in a few days.

App glitch

I did not finish the introduction part and then the application froze. I’m trying to uninstall and reinstall and will update review with progress.

No support

I loved UpLift but couldn’t access the sessions due to a glitch. I reached out to App support twice via email, UpLift Store, and on their social media page. No response. Download only if you really like throwing away $99.

Confusing app

I subscribed a few months ago and after a while could not even log in. The different pages froze and it was not even possible to send an email to the developer. Then I got charged today for an additional subscription without being told and after going to UpLift Store discovered that UpLift ad changed its design. Tried to login but couldn’t find a way to do so without subscribing again! The idea is good, but basic function does not work!

Upgraded the rating to reflect the great customer service and prompt response. As mentioned above the concept is good, and hopefully the new platform works moving forward.
