Pera Algo Wallet Reviews

Ok so it’s great that pera wallet has more features than the old Algorand wallet, but PeraAlgoWallet itself needs some help. First, it n the main screen I can only see dollar value of my portfolio. I’m the old ALGO wallet, I could see how many total ALGO I held. Now I have to tap on each wallet separately and it’s annoying. Second there is far too much white space. Like why are lines of text so far away from each other? It’s dizzying between the spacing and font to find the info I want. I wish they could’ve kept the look and features of the old wallet and just added the new stuff. But I’m sure other people like the new look. I mean someone approved it, right? Now let’s talk about the fact that rebranding something that actually gave people trust in Algorand now might feel to some like a scammy bait and switch. Not good. Algorand is the best in crypto and should be treated as such! Renaming the wallet and the weird looking app was not a good idea IMO, but hey, at least ALGO itself is still great!

Well you clearly tried way too hard to be simple, clean, and streamlined. It's a long way from the previous App, to whatever this has become.
1. Welcome to Walmart. The logo is perhaps in the top ten worst I've seen. It's an utter rip off of Walmart, and it looks like it was designed by an executive's teenage daughter, or a team of marketing grad students trying to agree on a final design guided by an aging professor, or a handful of exhausted volunteers using clipart. The original "A" was where it was meant to be. You messed up.

2. The font and s p a c i n g is so hard to read at a quick glance, and it's not enjoyable to stay in PeraAlgoWallet for long. The font and spacing on my phone, as I type this review, is way better and makes me forget how poorly PeraAlgoWallet was set up visually. (and I don't mean colors and borders)

3. Did you purposefully try to make it look like Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome? That was a little unnecessary.

4. Now I have to click through an extra page to see rewards, or details about my coins. What? You srsly think I'm going to store other coins here, or have multiple accounts? No thanks.

Uninspired to even mess with this at this point. I'm really trying to find a reason to care if I stay an xgov or not. Maybe I'm alone in this? Yea probably.

You know what, I don't know why we still pay so much money into ETH. Algorand is just 10x better than the current Ethereum networks (including BSC, MATIC, etc.). ETH is just so expensive with smart contracts! There are other options out there y'all! And in addition to the cost, Algorand is just so much faster and also EASIER!

I love Algorand! And this wallet works well! I use it with my Ledger Nano X and I like how I can see everything on this wallet, which I can't do with my Metamask app and ETH (yet another reason or maybe I just don't know lol).

Simple design and great UI. Does exactly what it needs to do as a wallet. However, it would be great to have other features such as being able to hold other types of crypto’s, support for Nano X, buy/sell directly from the wallet, among other things. I personally think it should have a section for Algorand news and/or a forum straight from PeraAlgoWallet but those are a long shot! Overall, PeraAlgoWallet does exactly what it aims to do as a wallet. I would recommend it.

It would be nice if the you could see informative updates from the developers within PeraAlgoWallet . They post on Twitter, which is better than nothing, but maybe the Twitter Feed should he displayed within PeraAlgoWallet . You shouldn't have to check Twitter for developer updates.

It's ironic the Devs say things like "keep an eye on our channels or you'll miss out" on Twitter. The wallet should be a channel. It should be THE channel.

Besides that, PeraAlgoWallet is functional, but buying with Moonpay is a complete ripoff, and there's no use in buying with Moonpay in PeraAlgoWallet if you cannot sell within PeraAlgoWallet .

In my opinion, the name change is a massive strategic error. Algorand itself has a strong brand, and having an official wallet with the same name inspires confidence in regular users.

Renaming this Wallet does nothing to inspire any extra confidence, and all it does is cause confusion and potentially create an illusion of uncertainty around how mature the project is to have its own official wallet. I would urge the foundation to seriously reconsider the name change. The user interface and the new road map of extra incoming features is fantastic. The name change really hurts the brand.

I was a little nervous putting my algo in here from Coinbase but after a few test transactions for a few dollars, I moved a larger portion of my algo. The rewards are a little better percentage than Coinbase, the pro/con you control when your rewards are calculated, if you send yourself zero Algorand it will count the amount you have and add the reward. Meaning you can update multiple times per day apposed to once. Overall super clean wallet.

Transferring ALGORAND to the wallet took less than 9-seconds. I am also generating a higher interest rate by staking with ALGORAND directly than I was via the exchange.
If you are nervous about leaving an exchange afraid you may your crypto coins, I suggest you watch a video or two, or better yet, go to website and read the steps from beginning to end. (I took notes.) That made the installation very simple!

Have to start by saying that even though I’m not super happy with PeraAlgoWallet in it’s current state. It is still much better than just about every other wallet out there for other coins.
I really don’t like how the balance is displayed. When it used to be the Algowallet it gave both the Algo value and USD or preferred currency value. Pera started by doing this but then recently shifted to only able to select in Algo or in USD. Little things like this make PeraAlgoWallet frustrating as with each new change it seems like it’s getting less user friendly and aesthetically pleasing.

I’m pretty keen on ALGO, and having the wallet means you can earn your staking rewards without paying a middleman (like Coinbase) up to 25%, and you don’t have to do anything to earn them except hold your ALGO in the wallet. Easiest free money ever, and it’s paid in terms of an asset subject to appreciation (and loss), so unlike bank interest, paid in USD which is forever depreciating in value, your interest paid can actually be worth more as time goes on.

Downloaded this wallet to store my ALGO. Secure, clean interface, quick navigation, extremely easy to make transactions and see your transaction records.

I’m new to crypto currency, so had concerns about safety and the process of sending and receiving. This wallet and the ALGO coin are the best I’ve experienced so far and really help legitimize digital currency in my mind.

I would love to see an actively updating rewards counter in future updates!

As for aesthetics it’s probably a 2-3 star. It’s a simple wallet. It functions easy and well. I’ve found that over the months that where the markets get hectic and other wallets time out or fail to function easily that I’ve had only a couple minor hiccups. Even when others are chocking it seeing sending and receiving from PeraAlgoWallet works like a champ.

Very simple and easy to use. Good way to do your own staking without the fee from an exchange. Great interface.

I worry about the disclaimer about not being responsible for any Algo lost even due to a glitch or something. I think it would be good to backup your Algo on another wallet. Or even for the peace of mind, keep it on the exchange, despite the fee.

I love Algorand, it’s definitely a great project, that’s a true pioneer in the crypto industry. Aside from holding and selling, this coin lets you stack rewards, depending on what amount you store in the wallet. However, the frequent occurrence of bugs ruins the user experience for me. Why doesn’t the interface load whenever I’m on wifi, but it works perfectly on mobile data. I use an iPhone X with FaceId and it takes 20 seconds or so for the application to verify the login. Why?

In many ways, the new app design is a step backwards, without promise of improvement:
- the yellow background and seed logo doesn’t match any of Algorand’s design elsewhere and is not pleasant to look at
- displaying asset amounts in dollars as opposed to the true asset quantity is confusing and obfuscates the intention of a crypto wallet
- a name change from Algorand Wallet is OK, but Pera Wallet is not a good name. It does not instill confidence in the product and it confuses what it’s purpose is. Take TrustWallet as an example - love it or hate it, the name invokes positive connotations for what PeraAlgoWallet does and is.

Before all else, Algorand is an amazing project and I’m a huge supporter of the consensus mechanism and vision. With that said, this logo is awful. If the Walmart logo was designed by a complete amateur, this would be it. I had to move it off my Home Screen so I didn’t have to see it. PeraAlgoWallet moved from a green/eco/carbon negative design to toxic/hazmat yellow. Also not a fan of the name change. Call it Algo Eco Wallet, Algo Green Wallet, or something that makes sense with your carbon negative approach. Heck even call it Algo Walla and have a green Eucalyptus leaf… anything except this new logo/name scheme. The old app UI was much better.

Single biggest issue is an inability to see how much Fiat currency was invested on a given date, only the amount of Algorands...which fluctuate. So I have to keep a separate spreadsheet as I make my incremental investments.
2nd issue - I have not found an ability to simply buy Algorand in the Algo wallet. I’m buying in Coinbase then have to wait 2 weeks to transfer them in Algo’s wallet.
Developers: if you’re reading this, have I overlooked the innate abilities or do they not exist??

The rewards are nice, but it would be helpful if PeraAlgoWallet could send weekly updates to your email letting you know how much rewards were added to your balance. The CSV of transactions does not show the rewards which are updated in PeraAlgoWallet second by second. We need a list of transactions showing date/time of the reward, price , and reward value for tax purposes and to allow calculation of gains. The second by second update of rewards add to the balance is way to often; weekly updates would be sufficient.

The Algorand blockchain is amazing for so many reason including it’s speed, low cost transactions, stability, scalability, carbon neutral, etc.

This is the official wallet and your on-ramp to the future. With this you get secure access to storing your Algos, NFTs, and ASAs. Once you dive into this world you won’t be sorry and you won’t be looking back

Love this wallet. It definitely gives you more control over your ALGO. I have noticed that my rewards seem to be significantly smaller since moving ALGO over from Coinbase.

Also, Since the update to Pera ALGO, PeraAlgoWallet now crashes whenever I try to send or receive, so I’m unable to collect rewards or make payments to others at the moment.

Okay so this may be intimidating for blockchain novices, but it couldn’t be easier. PeraAlgoWallet is smooth, fast, works great, and has a nice user interface. Transactions for algo cost .002 algo.. dirt cheap.. oh and they’re instant. I sent them to my algo wallet from coinbase. Was super easy and super fast. And again it only cost .002 algo to move... so don’t worry about eth gas fees lol. Overall I’m blown away. And the extra APY% is great! 7%APY instead of the 5.65% on coinbase and Binance

Amazing little wallet. Little to learn, no hassles, and it’s mobile which is beautiful. Only problem is it’s connectivity towards other Defi apps, such as yieldly. Would love to have PeraAlgoWallet and the myalgowallet to be interchangeable but I suppose they are if you import? Either way would like to see better integration for the rest of the Defi apps that are soon to come.

Algorand, as a blockchain, is amazing. I think it will be a big player in this space for many years. Their official wallet does not disappoint, it is easy and intuitive. I’m looking forward to the updates to enable governance and sapo accessibility, but for what it is supposed to do right not this is a clean, and very high performing app

Although there’s the more secure hardware wallet via Ledger, I prefer this because of its simplicity and easy integration/compatibility with Chrome via the MyAlgo Wallet website and iPhone. I highly recommend this wallet, since I believe the APY is higher than Coinbase’s 4% yield (which includes a 25% fee taken from that 4%).

$ is where it counts so thank you on the extra 2% interest. Hard to appreciate that the rewards unlock by transaction even if they accrue over time. Want your reward? Try depositing/withdrawing some Algo. Simple app but stable and careful and you can tell much more to come!
