I’m being generous with 2 stars here. ArcticKing is the worst one I keep on my phone. I bought this ac because of the ability to control it from my phone but it is constantly glitching. Every time I open it, it has lost the connection and I have to log back in. That not a huge deal but it’s lame and shouldn’t be a recurring problem.
But the biggest problem that has me ready to replace it is that I now cannot log in at all. I keep getting an error message.
What makes it worse is the physical remote doesn’t work and never really has so I have to struggle to get of the stuff blocking access to the device. That’s the exact reason I wanted WiFi access.
This inability to log in and after trying everything else I had to delete the ac and set it up all over again. They must have hired the owners 15 year old nephew to design ArcticKing .

If you are hoping to control the unit by either ArcticKing or a third party device then I suggest you buy a different AC unit or brand. I have never tried to develop an app but I don’t advertise that I can or offer one to control anything I sell. ArcticKing is a joke and complete waste of time and energy to connect. It doesn’t matter what you do or how many times you do it it doesn’t connect so you cannot under any circumstances control the unit with your smart device or third party device, such as Alexa or Google home. I am disabled and have connected many devices and can say with confidence that I know how to do it and this ac unit will not connect to my WiFi. FACT! I would not have even given that lonely single star but I cannot leave a review or vent my frustrations without it.

ArcticKing works pretty well but could use improvement. First, the units keep changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius. This seems like an easy issue to fix! Second, it would be nice to set multiple rules to change temperatures and modes automatically at selectable times.

I’m sure with a little effort ArcticKing could be much improved.

It is very convenient to make the remote for your AC unit your phone and nice that you can adjust settings anywhere you have cellular or WiFi and for that I’m happy giving 4 stars.
Also ArcticKing has a very clean and well laid out look to it, not overly cluttered and nice to look at.
Buuuuuut ArcticKing doesn’t always keep me logged in so make sure you save your password. ArcticKing will revert to Celsius every time I close it which isn’t the end of the world just kind of bugs me.

Other than that it’s a nice addition to your AC experience.

I’ve had this arctic king for 2 years so far so good A/C always been really cold even at 69 temp but love ArcticKing when I’m at the gym I always turn it on before I leave so that way I’m going home my house will be cool by the time I get there and I live in Texas heat isn’t a joke out here and I maintain the filter cleaning to keep the A/C cool as always. So I’ve had my Arctic King window unit for around 6 months now and I couldn’t be happier. Most come with remotes, but this comes with a remote PLUS a phone connectivity feature. It’s so convenient to just open ArcticKing when I get hot late at night lying in bed and just pop on the A/C without looking for a remote, not to mention getting up. If you’re a right lazy person, this is the A/C for you😂splendid product.

I have the 8000 btu and it is great. I see some have had trouble with ArcticKing being offline all the time. While mine does go offline from time to time, it’s not enough to be aggravating. I would mention so if it were a problem, because I paid an extra $40-$60 (I think... can’t remember exactly). My favorite thing is being able to turn the unit on before leaving work and having the room cool when I get home.

ArcticKing can’t stay connected to one window AC unit. I have a WiFi router positioned within inches of the AC and the AC is the ONLY device using this router, yet all the support people can say is “sorry”. The AC connects and stays connected as long as I don’t shut the AC off, or if a butterfly doesn’t flap it’s wings on the other side of the world. There is no explanation for why the unit is listed as “offline” after working fine for hours or sometimes days. The worst part is the time consuming and unnecessarily complex operation required to delete the unit and then re-add the same unit just to regain temporary iPhone control of it.

This review would be a 5 star except the network part doesn’t allow third party control besides Alexa. We bought the 8000btu to help cool our master on suite. It does a great job and it helps us a lot on our electric bill. Installing is a snap for anyone and it’s a little loud but what window unit isn’t. We have had for over a month now with absolutely no issues. The scheduling works great and the Arctic King App is simple to use so if you are looking for a small unit this is a great option.

Just purchased a 8k and 10k BTU with wireless control. Setup was incredible easy and has worked perfectly. It’s nice to be able to turn the down if you forget before leaving. Also haven’t had any connection issues yet. We do have 1000download with a nice router which might be why. No complaints yet.

Ever since getting ArcticKing , there is a 80% chance I will get the error 4042 and will be unable to use ArcticKing for a while. This is also a problem with the Google and Alexa features, I’ve only gotten my google to do something with my AC once since having it for 3 months now. Google will say something like “unable to connect to app” and not do anything.

The idea is great, if these problems ever get fixed I will be happy to change my review to a 5 star because the idea is amazing.

A/C works and connects without any issues, When I’m out of the area and need to change some settings on the A/C ArcticKing connects to the A/C again without any issues. *A/C has to have a stable network connection to work with- won’t work with crappy service keep that in mind before buying the unit*

Everything works great so not sure what’s up with everyone giving it terrible reviews. I wish it would work with Siri but no worries Siri is trash anyways. Been using it with google home along with everything else in my home and it’s been top notch when I need to use it.

Got my ac connected to my WiFi with no problem then my power went off for awhile then came back on. When I went to try to turn on my ac with ArcticKing it said it was offline and when I tried to it said something and it wouldn’t let me so I deleted it and tried doing everything all over again but it still wouldn’t let me and I tried connecting my ac to my WiFi and had a really hard time and I’m so frustrated because I can’t connect my ac to my WiFi…

Everything is okay for the most part but I have connectivity issues. For some reason it doesn’t work properly when my phone is connected to my WiFi so I usually have to turn my WiFi off then it responds okay

Currently I have 2 complaints.
1 every time I turn it on eco automatically goes on with it this means on timer when it turns it back on eco is on and no option to shut it off by default.
2 the timer option could use a lot of help. Should have more then one on/off option

The AC is great! But ArcticKing is not. I’ve tried two days now trying to get ArcticKing to work but every time it tries to connect to the unit, it says it fails. When it fails I’m told to try later and to try turning my AC off then back on or whatever. I’ve done that and it still won’t work.

I wish it would work so that way when I’m in bed I can adjust the AC to fit my needs without having to get up again when I’m trying to go to bed.

I love the convenience of ArcticKing becuse we use our ac every single night, but every time a new iOS update comes out, ArcticKing starts crashing. I’ve tried to open it 6 times and it opens for 1/2 second and crashes. Please update!

The schedule is only available in celsius, so even if you convert your desired fahrenheit (72) to celsius (22), as soon as it runs the schedule, it resets everything else to celsius. Otherwise, it works pretty well, with an occasional disconnect from the Midea server within ArcticKing .

ArcticKing is inconsistent in execution of the scheduled actions. Also the schedule defaults to degrees C and changes the temperature setting each time.

I have the 10,000 btu that has cooling and heating and the system in whole is simply amazing it works wonderfully I absolutely love it and ArcticKing as of now works great and I love everything about it

And if it does, you have to deal with the terms of service agreement every time you open ArcticKing .

The actual air conditioner is great. Too bad ArcticKing coders are a joke.

7/2/19 UPDATE: Still have to acknowledge the terms of service agreement every time. ECO mode is still forced on every time you start the air conditioner (this happens with the regular remote, too, but it's still incredibly annoying).

I don't know if the connection issues are fixed or not. I've given up on this crappy app. Too bad you couldn't just use the Smart Things app, but no...these geniuses had to reinvent the wheel. Except their wheel is a square.

Pls add more timer options, like on sunday to turn on at 15:00 and off at 19:00 and on monday turn on at 09:00 and off at 11:00.... not only one option to turn on and off same time.

I’m not sure about the problem others are having. ArcticKing and the unit work great.

Great AC unit, but ArcticKing is a joke. I solely purchased this AC for ArcticKing control feature, but always says offline and I have to reprogram it. The smart phone control feature set this AC apart from all the other AC’s out there, too bad that feature doesn’t work ever. Please fix this! I paid a lot for this unit!

Whenever in use the auto on/off feature, the unit switches to Celsius mode instead of staying in Fahrenheit mode.
The portable air unit also has heat mode but ArcticKing gives no option for that mode.

No bugs or flaws in my experience.

Fails every time when trying to connect to the network. Gets to 99% and gives and error message to retry upon restarting the ac.

The unit works great but ArcticKing needs a lot of improving.

Issues I’ve had with ArcticKing is:
Always have to log back into app
App doesn’t remember and resets temperature unit
If using the timing on/off feature when turning the unit back on it doesn’t remember the last temperature when it turned off and sets it all the way down instead

Does what it says it will do...
