Deceptive

WalkingWorkouts led me thru a series of start up questions such as height, weight, weight loss goal, etc all with a “continue” button at the bottom of the pages..until about the 3rd page which has a list of features such as “Professional walking programs”, “Audio guided walks”, “Daily statistics”, etc and that now familiar “continue” button at the bottom of the screen page. Except this page had small print after the continue button that you would not see unless you scrolled down. The small print informs you that pressing the above “Continue button” means you accept their privacy policy and the billing terms. You are agreeing to being billed $9.99 per month if you pressed the “Continue” button. No way for me to back out of this page or go to other areas of WalkingWorkouts...I’m locked into agreeing to a subscription I do not want so I deleted WalkingWorkouts . That small print further informs me that deleting WalkingWorkouts will not cancel the subscription.

So beware. WalkingWorkouts can lead you through a deceitful series of questions using a strategically placed “Continue “ button at the bottom of the pages until you get to the subscription page with its small print below the page fold after the “Continue “ button.

DECEPTIVE TACTICS!!!

This rating thing REALLY needs to have a zero stars option. I am livid at the deceptive tactics used by this company to obtain customers. It tricks you into clicking on the $119 year long subscription. It lists prices leading you to think once you click on WalkingWorkouts you will be given a choice to select on of those options, but instead it automatically signs you up for whatever the browser is on...and of course they set it to be on the most costly. It leaves people accidentally clicking on a year instead of a month. It also deceptively states that “your card will not be charged if you cancel before (one year from the date of clicking on WalkingWorkouts , in my case July 2,2020). Nowhere does it state that your card is already charged! Yet another deception.
To make matters worse, they refuse to give refunds. You have to call apple itunes to get it refunded (which they will do). Extremely shady app. I do NOT RECOMMEND IT!!! They are con artists. If you value your money, don’t click on ANYTHING they offer. I can see from the reviews that I am FAR from the only person this has happened to.

Do NOT download.

UPDATED: Like many others I accidentally clicked on the yearly subscription when I intended for the monthly. I’ve tried everything possible to get it switched to the monthly, unsubscribe, cancel and nothing. I have never been so absolutely disappointed in an app. How do I get my money back?! FitnessPal has the same exact options for free.
***Regarding the apps reply: You’re app dos NOT give the option to change subscriptions after clicking on one option. It locks you into that option. If I had the option to change to the monthly after accidentally clicking the yearly I MIGHT have continued my monthly subscription. You’re app is a joke. Quit trying to take advantage of people.***
*** For those of you who accidentally click on the yearly subscription you can not cancel or change subscription once you’ve clicked on it from your phone or computer. The loop hole is to call the service number online for apple. The lovely tech support will help you out. You’re welcome.
-Very very mad iPhone user!

Deceptive and takes advantage of biometrics to the app developer’s benefit

I initially downloaded this walking app with the intent of trying it out the free subscription. As soon as I opened WalkingWorkouts , it defaulted to a 1-year subscription, though I had no intention of purchasing it. I was attempting to move to the next page and accidentally hit the button to agree to the purchase and, since I was on my phone that recognizes my face to unlock/ pay for items, I was charged for a yearlong subscription. The terms and conditions that I would have to agree to never popped up before my agreeing to purchase, nor was I given enough time to read what I was “agreeing”. Within minutes, I attempted to cancel, however WalkingWorkouts only allows for cancellation after the year is up. I think that violates laws throughout the United States that allow for returns of products that don’t suit, that you don’t like, or that don’t provide service or product advertised.

I have deleted WalkingWorkouts and I expect a full refund.

tricked into paying $120

I was trying to set up WalkingWorkouts to try it out before purchasing anything, and it asked for all my information. I was maybe busy, but I didnt see where I could check out WalkingWorkouts , it just asked me for my fingerprint like all apps do. Suddenly it says thanks for your purchase ! I was mortified because i dont have $120 to spend on an app! I immediately went to the itunes store and canceled but it says i have the subscription for a year. I then went on a walk to try it out. I mean, what a basic app. I dont want to listen to a robotic siri voice on my walk! For that kind of money, you seriously couldnt use a real persons voice? And honestly, where does the value come in? There is nothing on WalkingWorkouts but a few workouts. It’s a terrible app, and I would imagine that’s why you need to slip that in there to steal people’s money. It never asked me if i wanted to ‘upgrade.’ What a complete ripoff!

Really did something with this morning’s walk

I’ve had WalkingWorkouts loaded for a while and finally tried it out. I walk 10,000/day on a regular basis but not often with such determination. I opted for no headphones and no music because I love to walk pre-dawn and listen to the world awaken. My only wish is for an actual voice to lead me rather than computer lady. Thanks for this fantastic motivation. I used the scheduler to keep me on track the rest of the week.

Stay away.

This is absolutely a scam. As many others have said, it appears to offer a free trial, then locks you into a one-year subscription when you click on what *appears to be* the button to accept the trial. At best it is intentionally misleading, at worst it’s a full-fledged scam that should probably be legally investigated. The developer’s responses to these bad reviews are laughable. They know full well what they are doing, and even after all that negative feedback, they haven’t changed the format. THEY DON’T CARE, they just want their $. I was able to get a full refund from iTunes by contacting them immediately, but it sounds like many folks were out their money because they noticed the charges too late. Do NOT download WalkingWorkouts, there are plenty of other good options from developers that aren’t dishonest and shady.

BEWARE- this is a scam

I downloaded this “free” app and within a minute of opening it I was going through setup. Basic stuff like weight and height. Then it says let’s get started and takes you to a screen with a few check boxes. One of them says something about getting rid of ads but it’s clearly obscure and no mention of paying anything. Next they are charging you a full year subscription. They have multiple charging options but they go straight for the full yea which is over $100. So no mention they are going to charge and then defaulting to the maximum plan they offer. Obviously they are on a “take your money and run” strategy. On closer look they don’t have anything worth paying for so this is their new business model. AVOID unless you don’t mind being ripped off.

I should’ve read the reviews!

This is a time when reviews really would’ve helped me in the long run.
About 4 days ago, I added DIFFERENT Me. app to my phone.
So I’m confused as to how - WalkingWorkouts AUTOMATICALLY signed me up for the year long subscription for $119 or something dollars! Which I would NEVER sign up for. While it charging money out of my account is bad, it’s even worse, THAT I DONT HAVE WalkingWorkouts ON MY PHONE.
I signed up for a free trial through the other app, hoping to then see what it was like and do a weekly subscription after that, after realizing it wasn’t for me I went to cancel the subscription TO FIND OUT that WalkingWorkouts had already charged me for a full year.
I want a refund and I am extremely appalled that this happened. Definitely don’t think I can trust this company after this.

New App

I just got this yesterday and I’m still trying to figure out how to use it. How does it know how much water you drink (it hasn’t prompted me to do so yet, even though I set it to do so). How does it count your footsteps during the day (not workout time)? It could use some improvement as far as user friendliness goes, needs to be easier to understand.

Update: I now know how to use it, and it’s exactly what I want as far as what it offers, but it turns out that unless you’re willing to upgrade (i.e. pay money) you can’t access beyond the first 2 days of workout plans. WalkingWorkouts shouldn’t be advertised as free when you really have to pay in order to use it. Doing that makes it WalkingWorkouts equivalent of click bait.

Scam and sham!

I didn’t even mean to purchase WalkingWorkouts at all. I was looking at it when my finger “subscribed” for over $130 charge for hovering over the home button! What’s worse is that this company acts like it is so easy to cancel, but they won’t give you a refund (even if you are trying to cancel immediately because it was obviously a mistake). You can’t really cancel for an entire year! This is SUCH A SCAM!!! I’ve tried going through iTunes and they push the responsibility back to the developer. Please DO NOT BUY THIS! When I realized that I couldn’t get my $130 back, I tried to use WalkingWorkouts and it kept crashing ( I do have an iPhone 5S), but if WalkingWorkouts won’t even work, they should give me a refund. I have never had such a problem with an app that Apple/iTunes endorses, and I am so disappointed!

SAVE $130 AND DO NOT DOWNLOAD APP

I signed up thinking this was free and ended up with a $130 subscription I did not want. Every other app I have used the consumer needs to go to a separate page in WalkingWorkouts where content that is actual money is and buy it there. This seems to be a problem the developer or apple do not seem to want to fix. Doesn’t seem likely I’ll get a refund since almost every review is about the same problem. Not sure how they have so many stars when maybe 1 out of 20 was a good review. Disappointed in Apple that they let developers like this on the platform. The developer should offer a free trial with all subscriptions to remedy this problem because $120 is still a lot of money when you didn’t mean to spend it on something you didn’t want.

Scam app - Don’t download

A few other folks here have mentioned this, but WalkingWorkouts is specifically designed to rob you. I was going to test out the free version to see if this is something that might interest me, and the screens pop you automatically to a purchase screen where if you’re just holding your phone they authenticate your purchase of a yearly subscription without you actually validating it. I looked up from my screen while entering my stats because of a distraction in the room and looked down to see a new screen had auto-loaded and because of how I was holding my phone, that verified purchase check box popped up. This is obviously designed as a scam. I’ve gone through Apple to get a refund, but Apple should remove WalkingWorkouts from their platform.

Do not download !!! Scam!!!!

Just wanted to vent and say what MANY others have said, WalkingWorkouts is a scam. I also clicked thinking it was for the free trial never got that option, so got sick with a $119 bill that won’t get refunded. Makes me sick to my stomach that my hard earned money got STOLEN.

Decided to try WalkingWorkouts since I got billed for it and it’s total JUNK. Reminds me to drink water 3 times a day (thanks, I can’t tell when I’m thirsty) and the voice on the walking portion is total garbage, sounds like a text to speech program, just annoying. So I’m stuck with a $119 worthless app that I will never open again.

They will respond saying that they give the option for the free trial. They DID NOT so I’ll say before they respond to this that they are lying. I’ll be happy to delete this if I get a refund.

Buyer beware

I was tempted to give WalkingWorkouts a try, and if I liked it I’d prob get a subscription. I’m signing up and notice it says continue, but keeps wanting to charge me $120. I hit cancel and keep looking for another option. Finally, I notice a small transparent “x” in the upper left.
I’m now in WalkingWorkouts , without paying the $120. I look at the subscription offers now that I’m not doing a year membership, and I see a lifetime membership is now only $99. ???
Seems a lot of people have complained about the shady way they get their $120 from you, and the company keeps ignoring them. I won’t even try WalkingWorkouts now, seeing as they just want to rip ppl off. If WalkingWorkouts is good, you give a free trial and keep customers coming in. When you have to con them into your program, it must not be very good.

Terrible app

I downloaded WalkingWorkouts looking for a fun thing to do while walking. I opened it filled out info and then noticed they wanted my fingerprint to confirm a subscription. I didn’t click it and instead found the X in the corner. Looked around WalkingWorkouts and saw that it wasn’t worth what they were charging you. It said that deleting it was not enough to not get charged but they currently do not appear in my subscriptions on the iTunes Store so unsure if I am going to get charged anyway. What a terrible and deceptive app. They should be up front and let people know that this is not a free app at all and they will require you to immediately sign up for expensive non refundable subscriptions. Which judging from their responses is their entire business plan.

BUYER BEWARE. NO EASY WAY TO DECLINE SUBSCRIPTION Charged me full year with no choice to decline

This looks like a really nice APP and I am sure I would like it. BUT. I got the free version I thought, however, when I went to set it up there was no way to decline the subscription!! So I thought I would get the subscription for 1 month and then move back to the free version.
Well now I have been charge the whole year @ $127. Why would anyone jump off the cliff into a new APP for a full year for that kind of money. And of course I could not cancel or request a refund. I will hope that someone from this company can resolve this as I would like to try to give WalkingWorkouts and company a fair try.
If not then I will report this to my card company and request the charge be denied.

Confusing app

I didn’t get in to the subscription trap referenced in the other reviews but I couldn’t find the Motion setting wherever that is supposed to be. So the walking count wouldn’t even start. It asked me if I wanted to enable this Motion sensor thing and I hit Enable and it opened settings for Siri, which I have no clue why, and notifications, which I checked all fields and none had anything to do with Motion setting and the last one it listed was cellular data which is only an on/off toggle. I tried a search in my phone and it didn’t pull up anything. So no clue but I deleted WalkingWorkouts . I’ll try one of the other hundreds of apps available. I’ll do a better job of reading the reviews though before jumping in

I just wanted to look at it! Now I have $119 bill!!

All I wanted to do was look to see how it might help me. I got a bill for $119 and apple tells me it’s not refundable! I canceled it within less than 120 seconds after downloading but still no refund.
Note:
The developer wrote back to me telling me that they were very sorry and it wasn’t their intention to mislead, but there’s nothing they can do about it. They said they were going to “change things” and I can appreciate that though not sure what it means. $119 a year for WalkingWorkouts may or may not be worth it, I can’t say. I lost my job today and this is just something else to deal with. I should’ve looked closer before I accepted the download, we all should.

Don’t Download!

Don’t download WalkingWorkouts! I just did a few minutes ago then immediately got a fraud text from my credit card company as well as an email from WalkingWorkouts thanking me for my subscription! What the heck?! I didn’t approve to purchase anything! I should have read the other negative review above which explains my experience exactly!

This developer is unethical and misleading, WalkingWorkouts says FREE so I was curious and entered my health stats. By pressing “enter” I did NOT know I was subscribing to a freaken year subscription for $119 dollars set to auto-renew in a year! I would NEVER pay that much for an app to tell me how to “walk!” I will be contacting the appropriate people to shut you down and get my money back! ZERO stars for these SCAMMERS!!!

Good Tool

Generally happy with using this over two weeks. Helpful tool to encourage walking and consuming adequate water throughout the day. Downside: if you set your phone down, there is no record of any activity...and no way for you to add steps.
Best used in combination with other measurement/weight loss apps.

Also...the “prompts” that are auto-generated seem to have ne reference to your actual steps. “You can do it!”—when you have already surpassed the daily goal.
