GMFinancial is horrible. I can no longer use the “Contact us” messaging feature to apply my extra payments to principal, because I used this excellent feature once and apparently you have to “resolve” the conversation. It never prompted me to “resolve the conversation”. And because I didn’t, it now won’t let me resolve my last conversation at all. So therefore I try to send a message, and it says “error sending message”, I try to resolve the conversation by pressing the button, and it does literally nothing. And NOW GMFinancial crashes completely every time I try to log in!

So I can no longer use it to send payments at all, and even if I can eventually log in (which I’ve tried to 8 times in a row now), I can’t send extra payments to principal, and it wastes the payments on interest and my loan balance remains the same. I hate this so bad! I called customer service to try to fix the “contact us” messaging feature and all they could tell me is “We can delete your account and you can make a new one”. I strongly refused that because I don’t want to have a chance of making 5 months of credit history disappear! As soon as my credit gets a little better I am refinancing my loan with some company that isn’t complete garbage!

GMFinancial and GM financial customer service are absolute garbage. They never give answers to solutions and assure/promise you they will call back. No one ever does, and they just keep billing you and adding false late charges. Trying to call back usually takes about 30 minutes to even speak to someone and there are multiple dropped calls and they do not call you back when that happens so you have to call back and wait again for that time. The setting up text messages does not work either. Definitely going to a different dealer after my lease is up. If I could give zero stars I would.

What app in 2021 is taking upwards of 5 minutes to send a confirmation email? I got to the point of thinking it failed to send and requested a new one just as the first one arrived, which of course meant the link in the first one was expired.

Literally all I want is for the registration process not to feel like it is working against me. Guess GM knows people have an obligation to pay their bills so we will sit through whatever trash they decide to release. I have now spent over 15 minutes simply trying to register an account. That’s not the speed the world works at anymore.

Update: oh cool I’m in GMFinancial which literally doesn’t have an autopay option. This is absolute unrepentant trash

This experience will directly impact my willingness to enter into this sort of financial relationship with GM in the future.

Ever heard the term “don’t fix if it isn’t broken?”
I updated GMFinancial just to deal with more issues it created. The icon in GMFinancial continuously pops up requesting me to update AFTER I already did. After unsuccessful attempts to resolve on my end I chose to bypass selecting “update later.” I did the typical troubleshooting by resetting password, deleting GMFinancial , turning off the phone, reinstalling, and attempting again to no avail. Reached out to customer service via text (btw, the virtual assistant, Nanci, is useless) and was told “aLoT oF cUsToMeRs HaD nO pRoBlEm AfTeR uPdAtE.” Oh okay, Stephanie. I guess this is all in my head, right? Don’t suggest using the browser instead of GMFinancial because you don’t want to do your job. I clearly stated at the beginning what the problem was and that I already attempted troubleshooting. Listen to people next time instead of forcing me to do the same things I already told you I did. Then having the audacity to tell me “jUsT uSe ThE bRoWsEr.” THAT LITERALLY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF DOWNLOADING AN APP.
I suppose I’ll update my review IF someone more competent decides to listen and fix the problem.

GMFinancial is nice it’s the only way I actually make a payment but the reason for the 2star is that I don’t like the fact when there is a new version it forces you to update now and when you click the button it take you to the exact same app you already have, if here’s a new version then either give me the option to want to update it or just have the current app automatically update this is very frustrating and inconvenient now I have to call in which I hate doing because I can’t use GMFinancial because there is apparently an updated version that really doesn’t exist never mind for my irritation I give it a one star

It doesn’t show current balance you owe on the web page. Figured GMFinancial would but it’s just as useless. Like any other loan or account if you make a payment it will show you your balance. You don’t have to wait a month before you are able to see. If I pay $1000 today I want to see my new balance in 24hrs, not in 30days. We are trying to pay it off and seeing the balance come down as you make multiple payments is motivation, but having to wait is not.

After reading some reviews from others about taking payments and missing payments.....I also have had HORRIBLE experiences with GM as well....they have terrible customer service members as well as management who tell you one thing, then another tells you something else and then management tells you another!!! Sadly, negatively effecting me in the end. Without going into details about my situation with GM, there was NO communication from them to resolve the issue, they waited 4 MONTHS, yes 4 MONTHS! To then call me and inform me of the situation. After, my lease is up, I will no longer work with GM or any other Chevy Dealer!!!! They have put a horrible, disgusting taste in my mouth and stole from me. Effecting me so negatively that I will purchase my vehicles elsewhere.

I’ve used GMFinancial for a few months and I already have had to change passwords multiple times because it doesn’t recognize my password for some reason and when I try to get the email link to reset my password it says my email is incorrect even though I used it for my account. It doesn’t even remember my questions or answers to get my account changed

I’ve had GMFinancial for so long and every time I hit “login” with my saved information, it deletes everything and I have to re-enter it all. Don’t even bother with Face ID because that doesn’t work either. I always use GMFinancial hoping that one day I can log in easily without it being such a pain. I don’t understand how they can do all these app updates but they can’t fix the login screen

GMFinancial needs a lot of work. I got roped in to downloading it by entering to win something. Part of the process was to enable paperless billing. The steps they provided were useless and didn’t match anything with GMFinancial . I tried to chat with someone and that was a joke. Now it shows 3 notifications and there’s NOTHING when I open GMFinancial to try and clear the notifications. I’ve updated my phone, updated GMFinancial , deleted GMFinancial , restarted my phone and they’re still there. Also, I’ve checked “remember me” and “keep me logged in” a million times and I still have to log in every time.

GMFinancial is nice for an one time payment, but you can’t use app to schl next month’s payment, had to close app and open up website, if I still gotta open up website what’s the point of app? You should be able to schl an payment for December now, but unfortunately on GMFinancial that’s not possible until the 1st, how awkward is that? LoL
I got online and schl my December payment, GMFinancial said processing, what the heck? I got right back on the website and deleted payment, I don’t trust GM anymore, they done got me once, by taking two payments from me, instead of catching it and notifying to see if I made a mistake, not GM they automatically gonna deduct, so be very careful on schl payments and dbl check to make sure you don’t have any schl already.

Since I send my payment directly from my bank, I don’t use GMFinancial other than to track my balance and print my statement for my business records. I have to go to the website to print the statement. Even though I have the log in with Face ID turned on, it won’t accept it and I have to use the password. For an app that I only go into once a month, it’s not that bad.

Settings up a payment worked just fine. One thing that rarely functions is requesting a payoff amount...it times out with an error almost every time.

Secondly, the amount of payments is not based on what you actually owe. For example, I was doubling my payments and GMFinancial still reports that I have eight more due when I actually have three. It would be nice if the payment scheduling were directly tied to the actual dollar amount paid each month rather than what you’re loan term is. Since you cannot pay less than the minimum, there is no reason to have the term extend the full length if you are paying more than the minimum.

I got GMFinancial thinking it would be easier to make payments other than the website but GMFinancial don’t offer an option to put in your credit card or a debit card only give you three which is checking account savings account any money market account GMFinancial is pointless to have if you gotta go to the website to pick the payment that you want

I like the GM financial app because I can see what my monthly payments are, lookup my payoff, and find any special offers that I might have from or through GM.
The only negative thing I have to say, (and it is more of a suggestion) is, I would like to see a copy of a break down of everything that I financed with my loan. I know I financed my vehicle, however I financed the tire and rim warranty and extended warranty. I would like to see what I paid for them.

I rated the via text customer service a 5 out of 5 today. I was honestly surprised how quick they got to my request. It was a stressful situation and they helped me in a matter of minutes and solved my problem in a timely manner, they double and tripled checked to make sure I was takin care of. I appreciated it.

I have found this to be the easiest way to set up my payments. It’s all right there after I log in. I set the date, the amount, bank account, it’s ready to go. Can’t get much simpler than that!! Don’t have to worry about a stamp, envelope and having the correct address. I’m a happy guy!

Trying unsuccessfully to make GMFinancial appear upright. I attempted to delete and reinstall GMFinancial several times to correct the problem. My settings on the computer is set at unlock rotation but GMFinancial is appearing sideways and will not go upright. Tried to chat and was disconnected several time and waited too long for a response.

GM Financial has been great for us got the payments where we could make them and like everything that you can download and see how much your payoff is which makes it very nice.
They only send you out your payment when it’s close to being do even though we make our payments early there are no hassles about making a payment thank you.

*** UPDATE*** I think I figured out why GMFinancial wasn’t working. After updating my phone, it has been working flawlessly.

After the last update I haven’t been able to open GMFinancial . This is going on the second month I’ve had to go online to make my payment. 😔 It was working great for the last 2.5 years. It’s so frustrating, it was so convenient using GMFinancial to pay.

The fact that you have to call every time when you make a payment to put extra towards the principal is ridiculous, especially when you call and tell them to put the extra money towards the principal and they still don’t.
This is nothing more than a scam and their way of sucking every penny they can on the high interest rate, I will never use them for a loan again.
Maybe everyone who has been screwed over by these people should get together and file a lawsuit against them for their unethical standards of business.
I’m beyond dissatisfied!

I’ve been trying to make a payment for the past week now and GMFinancial AND the website are both down and giving “experiencing difficulties” messages or GMFinancial keeps asking me to update it. Which I have deleted and redownloaded it to no avail. My payment is now going to be a late payment since every time I’ve tried to call in, I get hung up on while on hold. Please fix these issues so that I can make my payments on time.

First it says that my log in or password are incorrect. It was not. Finally let’s me log in, but first I have to answer my security questions. Says my answers are wrong. They are not. THEN it says my last 4 of my SSN are wrong. App also tells me there is a new version, but when I hit update there is no new version. So it is giving me every reason why I can’t log in tonight. And lastly I can’t post a review because every nickname is taken.

Right of the bat, I ran into an issue that kept me from running it through its paces. I use a password manager and an unable to copy and paste the password from the manager app into GMFinancial. The password field will not allow pasting.

My password is over 20 random characters and it's just not worth it for me to try and enter all those just to test things out.

My main complaint with GMFinancial also applies to the website. I would like to be able to see the remaining balance along with the number of payments left. The only numbers offered are the amount due and the total amount financed. I would like to see this information added to the account information.

I loved GMFinancial until I did an update. Now I can’t login because it keeps asking me to do an update which has already been done. So frustrating. I enjoy the convenience of making my payments through GMFinancial . Now wishing I had not done the update so that I could get my payment completed without having to call.

Made my first payment and all was smooth but now I want to get into GMFinancial and look around and it keeps telling me to update to the latest version so I click the update and it takes me to GMFinancial Store and it says my app is up to date sooo I go back to GMFinancial and the cycle repeats..

Can’t use GMFinancial . I get this error message which takes me to GMFinancial Store, but I only have the option reopening GMFinancial or downloading it again. Then I get the same error message again. The error message says “app has been updated, please download the updated version

I am not able to enter a different payment amount in my account. I am trying to pay more than the minimum payment. There is no submit for send option to make the payment. I thought GMFinancial was to reviewing your account and making payments convenient.

Says I have to get the updated version so when I click to do so, it just has an open button that keeps bringing me back to the same screen. I need to pay my car payment and can’t on GMFinancial .
