the only way to get it to run orientation is by connecting to the scope and then turning my phone off into airplane mode for a second and then turning it back on. if this doesn’t crash the app, then and only then does the prompt that lets me run telescope orientation appear. this is a $5000 telescope. i shouldn’t have to have to find this insane work around for the software everytime i want to use it. additionally the oriention is wrong about 30% of the time and i have to start the whole thing over or it will attempt to go in the opposite direction to find objects i can see with my naked eye. actively looking for a new telescope to run my astro tours because this one has let me down for over a year now.
Update: Developer has commented on this post and all the other recent poor reviews asking for a bevy of information. I gave a detailed account of what I have to do to make it work and many of the other reviews express their encountered problems. With the amount of negative recent reviews developer should have all the information necessary to realize they need to make serious corrections to the UI.

When I first got this scope in 2021, the app was simpler, everything worked like a dream.
Now, after many app upgrades, this expensive telescope has been rendered practically junk by one of the worst apps on my iPhone.
Why?
1. The scope is fully charged and turned on.
2. The wifi works, my iPhone connects easily.
3. I open the app, go to the telescope settings, it says “not connected.”
4. I keep waiting. Nothing happens.
5. I wait longer, the clear sky gets beautifully starry.
6. Nope, the wifi is still connected, but the app cannot connect to the scope.
7. I turn off everything, repeat all the steps above, nothing changes. Same results, or no result, period.
8. I dismantle everything, pack everything away to write this review.
Hello Unistellar! Hope you are still on earth and reading this review. I would be happy to get my money back and return this scope to you. I know it’s wishful thinking😱.

Last time I went to connect it took around 10 to 15 minutes. Horrible experience. Okay, now you are connected. I am an urban backyard observer, so when I look at the catalog why do I have to click the oversized icon on the object AGAIN to get its position and elevation? There is so much wasted screen real estate when the position could be right there, on the catalog. But no, they have to have a picture of a star. Very poor interface design, not thought out and detracts from the telescope itself.
