4.3 out of 5

Deleted it at set up

2022-05-23

Poorly done app. Opened it up one my iPad and it was small with poor graphics. Looks like maybe the first app ever designed. Gives two choices at start up, to track steps or track heart points. I am doing neither, I am trying to track actual workouts, and calories burns. Did not give it much of a chance beyond this since there are so many activity trackers out there that are better designed. Had better hopes for this having the Google name

Terrible substitute for Fit Bit

2022-06-24

Absolutely useless. Replaced my old FitBit with a new smart watch that uses WearOS and Google Fit to track activity. I love the watch, but I HATE HATE HATE GoogleFit. FitBit offers SO many more things than this one does, nutrition tracking and period tracking among them. And often my watch won’t track my steps or other activity despite the fact that I have it synced with my phone. So I’m reduced to using my watch as a really high-end timepiece instead of the stuff it’s actually intended for, and using my FitBit for actual health tracking.

Does not sync sleep data from Apple Health app

2022-07-25

GoogleFit is doing a fine job of tracking/syncing everything in the Apple Health app on my iPhone except sleep data. My steps, distance, workouts, etc. all all fine, but none of my sleep tracking is recognized. I have all of the settings on correctly, I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling GoogleFit , refreshing GoogleFit …everything. Please fix and/or provide guidance.

App won’t sync with Google Fit on Watch

2022-08-26

The whole point of having an app on the phone is that you can track what you’ve been using on your personal fitness device (smart watch, heart rate monitor). For over a week now GoogleFit on the phone will not record my workouts that I’ve started from the watch and thusly isn’t syncing the data from watch to phone. Idk what the problem is but it needs to be fixed. First time anything like this has happened on a google device for me

Wish it was better!

2022-09-27

I loved GoogleFit when I first started using it! It would track directly from my Apple Watch series 6 so I never forgot to enter a workout and I loved the weekly reports. Then, data started to just disappear from my workouts every day! I would earn 26 heart points with my Tai chi workout then thirty minutes later it would drop to 7! Or my Tuesday 26 points would be completely gone when I looked on Thursday!! Not just frustrating, it literally makes GoogleFit useless for any serious tracking. Very disappointing.

Impressed on Positive Heart Health, Not Impressed with Functionality

2022-10-28

I was hoping this would bridge the gap between my WearOS powered fossil smartwatch and Apple Health so I could get more use out of the health data and the Google Fit functionality of the watch. Unfortunately no such features. GoogleFit has read only permissions with Apple Health so it only organizes data from that app into Google’s. It does not link with WearOS so data from the smartwatch does not go directly to Google Fit’s app so that is still a problem for me. I like that it puts the focus on heart health in a “weight watchers” kinda way— points instead of steps or calories to get a bigger picture view of how to improve overall health. But I’m not getting my progress counted from my smartwatch anyways. Overall, Google Fit just organizes information that already exists in a new way. I’m intrigued but probably won’t keep it.

Move Points > Steps.

2022-11-29

I really liked GoogleFit before this new update where the move points were switched with steps. I don’t have the luxury to walk around a lot . At most, I get about 2,000 steps a day. I found it more motivating to log my move points, because it counted for any work out I did. I think steps and move points to be an option and let the user pick which one works best for their fitness lifestyle.

Great app with bad bugs

2022-12-30

GoogleFit hasn’t been updated in two months Google. What’s going on? I’m running into syncing issues with my WearOS watch now that I never had before. I love GoogleFit and use it every day, but the lack of continuity between watch and phone has become increasingly frustrated. My phone is still two workouts behind my watch and I did those workouts earlier this week. Please fix this issue, it is incredibly frustrating as a user.

App not working

2023-01-31

App seems to no longer have the ability to track a workout, only has the ability to add a workout after it’s done. I loved the track feature since I could keep an eye on my distance as I was running. Additionally, it seems like it no longer keeps track of my steps automatically. I have the most updated version, but nothing is being tracked. It always says 0 steps and 0 heart points even after a run.

Disappointing results

2023-03-04

I about died mowing the lawn in the Texas summer. It took me about an hour in the 95* heat that feels like 107*. I wore my Fossil smart watch that’s supposed to pair with GoogleFit. My phone told me I took about 500 steps while my watch told me I only took about 1000 steps. Another app usually tells me I walk about 3500 steps. My heart rate went up to 145bpm and I scored no heart points. Yup. Disappointing

Works pretty well but has problems

2023-04-02

I use GoogleFit to track my steps throughout the day. It seems to do a good job keeping track of my steps. I don’t have a watch or fitness tracker so I keep my phone in my hand while I’m walking. This seems to work well but my main problem is as I walk and keep a check on my number of steps, I notice at some point every day I loose heart points. I was up to seven heart points as I was walking to 2000 steps and as I looked to see what I had, my heart points dropped back from 7 to 3. This happens at some point every day. I would like to know why this happens. I don’t slow dawn my pace or change my stride or the way my arms swing as I walk so I don’t know why this happens. I would like an explanation as to why this happens every day during my walk.

Allow period predictors

2023-05-04

Apple health has a thing where if you track your period consistently, it can tell you a guesstimate of when your following 3 or 4 periods should begin. It’s a great tool when planning vacations or hoping a certain visitor isn’t making an appearance. Basically… do something similar to what they did and you have me 100% on board.

Generally a good app

2023-06-04

I would like to say it’s helped me become more aware of how physically active I am, I would love for it to track my heart points better though. I ran about 3 miles and it didn’t record any of my running, it’s a minor problem but still frustrating trying to track my progress.

Good but needs improvement

2023-07-06

Overall a good app. A good way to keep track of your workouts. I have GoogleFit synced with the exercise app "fiton" and it does not always record my workouts accurately. For example, for some workouts, Google fit says I've only done 1 minute of exercise, when in fact it was 30 minutes!
Good app overall but it's not always accurate.

Fills an important gap for Apple users

2023-08-06

I am an iPhone/watch user and for me GoogleFit fills in important gap which is that it provides one number to evaluate the quality of daily exercise, i.e. the Heart Points. This is something which Apple health is missing as step counts, exercise minutes, etc. don’t do the job. So I’m excited about this!

What is needed now is a widget and an Apple Watch app with a complication… It would be perfect to be able to see the heart points whenever you look at the watch. Add those features and I’ll go five stars.

Good But Needs Improvement

2023-09-07

This is another great Google app, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Sometimes it doesn’t sync from Health, which is annoying. Also, you can’t add steps manually. Overall I like it but I expected more functionality and less bugs.

Generic note for the day? Journal could inc diary notes

2023-10-09

I was hoping when I click the + in an activity I can notate anything that I want and such as medication or how I’m feeling that day. It looks like it’s attached to an activity in terms of expelling energy. Would love to see a generic note/diary addition to GoogleFit. Super easy to do!!!

Thank You, Heart Disease Avengers

2023-11-09

Excellent. Pure and good, period. This is a gift to us. Yet, some people have still complained: "Until it magically aligns with my Sparkle Pony Unicorn heartbeat ratio index, measures perspiration sodium levels (aligning with my home-based lab testing), and adds a drop-down choice for bi-weekly underwater hot Tai BocChi lacrosse sessions so I don't have to do so manually (THE HORROR), I'm giving it only half a star..."

Seriously, folks. Get a problem. Like heart disease. Have it in your family? You must not. Most folks who DO have heart disease, know someone with heart disease, or lost someone they love very much to heart disease aren't complaining about something so positive in the fight against this beyond-crappy death monger. We are every-day thankful for the genius, hard working souls at the AMA and Google (and Apple - thanks for GoogleFit , yo!) who joined forces in the magical Google Fit to make the world a better, healthier place so we don't lose even more people we love to this horrific, extremely preventable disease.

Thanks to every heart disease Avenger who is fighting for our lives. We are so fortunate to have you walking with us.

Very good app but could use some improvements

2023-12-11

GoogleFit in question is a very strong reliable app it is free ( unlike some competitors ). links to your google account. and helps get you working out. Although it does have its problems I wish it could link up to your fit bit and I also wish it could have instructional daily workout videos. All the “problems” with GoogleFit aren’t necessarily problems but could add to it. To sum it up more people should know and use GoogleFit

Google Fit rewards

2024-01-11

Suggestion introduce Google Fit Rewards take part in health related Market Research like track your steps, track heart rate, and other research to earn points that can be redeemed for PayPal cash or gift cards for stores and restaurants all this data can be used for Market research activities thank you

Not as good as androids version

2024-12-16

Where’s the “Track workout” option? “Add activity” just isn’t accurate or detailed enough, it’s basically just an estimate unless you have some type of other device tracking the calories for you. And I just noticed that it’s not even accurate in tracking my miles. Every morning I walk my dog and then go on a 3 mile walk, google fit only read 1.69 of those miles today. My calorie counter is all off now.

Can’t login for months

2024-12-16

Still haven’t been able to login to GoogleFit for months. Just get the “can’t sign in, check that you are online” message. Just got a new iPhone 11 pro Max and same thing here. Just updated with the patch notes “bug fixes” but one of those bugs fixed wasn’t being able to login.

Poor solution for Apple users

2024-12-16

I got a new smartwatch and I have an Apple iPhone, but not an Apple Watch. GoogleFit is my only option and it is a poor one. The sleep tracking function is so limited, it may as well be nonexistent. The limited functionality of GoogleFit makes it painful to use. Poor end user experience to say the least.

Inaccurate tracking

2024-12-16

App seems to never consistently track Heart Points accurately. Verified app has background refresh enabled and activities tracked in Apple Health. Move Minutes appear correct but many days I end up with no Heart Minutes. GoogleFit seemed to have needed a bit more time to be worked on; it seems subpar from what one would expect from Google.

Not accurate

2024-12-16

This thing goes up and down.. I worked out for and hour and I saw it going up and down. Taking gains away from me. And the. One day it shows too much maybe. It's just not accurate I feel and really anoying. Why does it go up and down the heart points. ????

Not good

2024-12-16

I’d used GoogleFit to track steps with my Samsung. I could get a bar graph of steps day by day. On the iPhone 11, bar graphs are only for “heart points” and “move minutes” which for me are worthless, made up terms to make GoogleFit look like it does something. Deleted.

Update. Still inaccurate.

2024-12-16

Updated review: GoogleFit changes data from the current day and previous days without any discernible pattern. It’ll tell me I had 92 heart points last Thursday, then it’ll say I had 141 heart points last Thursday, then later it might say 92 again. This is absurd. There’s no other app in my phone causing this confusion. It’s a glitch in GoogleFit.

The sleep data is also no good. E.g., it tells me I slept from 2am till 8am and that this was a total duration of 11 hours. What? Similar problems with other days.

Want to love GoogleFit . The simplicity is helpful. Design is very good. But data is off.

What about people taking beta blockers?

2024-12-16

I’m taking a beta blocker to treat afib and my resting pulse is about 20 bpm lower than it was before I started. Exercise for me doesn’t hit a level high enough to trigger “exercise” on the Apple Watch or heart points here.

Please consider asking users during setup if they are taking beta blockers and adjusting the threshold down a bit for earning heart points for us who are. Thanks.

Nice app for tracking personal workout

2024-12-16

Overall I like GoogleFit for tracking steps and weight. I loved their heart points concept, however calculating heart points seems to be incorrect. When I hike 2,500ft at 25min per mile pace, it gave me 0 heart points. Seems like app is not considering elevation gain for the calculation. I hope this will be corrected soon.

Ok App

2024-12-16

I have an Apple Watch and use it to sync with my iPhone, and yet there are huge discrepancies at times regarding data sets from the Watch and app. The watch would show the amount of steps and distance walked, but GoogleFit seems to be off on how much steps I took and how far I walked. (e.g. 5.9 miles on Apple Watch vs 3.57 miles on Google Fit)

Great Improvements

2024-12-16

Google has slowly made many improvements over the life of GoogleFit. Now that Google Fit runs on iOS, I find the “Journal” to be very useful in collecting all workout and sleep data from multiple sources and grouping the data chronologically for easier access.

Good app

2024-12-16

Pls make it available for Apple Watch
We need it so much

Excellent

2024-12-16

Google Fit has assisted me to begin a walking program and lose 70 lbs. The latest update has shown me how by increasing my walking speed is better for my heart with the blessings of the American Heart Association. Thank you Google.

TEST Your Software
2023-06-06

Google Fit app always says "0 Heart Points" even though everything is configured properly the best I can tell, and 2500+ steps are recorded for the day, heart rate of 110 recorded when walking briskly etc. I have combed over all settings a dozen times. TEST YOUR SOFTWARE PLEASE.

Today I walked alongside my wife. Google fit on my phone .58 miles. Google fit on her phone .8 miles! Her phone showed 10 heart points. Mine 1.

Garbage. I do the same ten mile bike ride and get drastically different heart points everytime. Sometimes zero. Sometimes eighty. Sometimes zero, then fifteen minutes later thirty seven. Hour later twenty three, then back to zero shortly after.
