Soo much potential.

It’s almost as if PS have a milking cow and have decided not to improve PublicSurplusBuyersApp. Improvements I will like to see. 1. Set my default State. I don’t wanna see the whole country pop up when I open PublicSurplusBuyersApp . Give me the option to customise; to set a default State and limit searches to this state when I open PublicSurplusBuyersApp . Thats what’s close to me and easy for me to get to. Most sellers don’t ship so I want to see what is near me by default EVERYTIME. 2. Make PublicSurplusBuyersApp faster. It’s a snail. Maybe adding 1 could improve this. 3. The scroll is laggy. I have to be careful how I fast I scroll least it takes me back to the very top; undoing all my progress and leaving my thumb grumpy. 4. Zoom on pictures. Which century are we in? I have an iPhone app which can’t zoom in on pictures. I have to download the picture and zoom in. Laughable. Thank you

Edit 1: Zoom feature added. It’s better than what existed before so i will take it. Panning on the zoom is archaic.

Feature Poor

The ability to zoom on photos would make PublicSurplusBuyersApp 100% better. Other nice and easy to add features would be a “share” button… when I want to send an auction to a friend I have to stop what I’m doing and go log on through a web browser to get a link to be able to share. The ability to save searches or set up alerts would also be huge. Some amazing deals and products come up on this platform, which keeps me using it but dang is the UI basic and featureless.

Public surplus Mesa The Worst Place

Public Surplus Mesa = The worst service possible, like they owned , A Lady control all activities and IS better to take all patient position , if you don’t want to get arrested ( she is Sheriff elected!? Hard to get a phone answer or little respect. BANANA Republic! Do not bid on this auctions, you end with a lot of wested time to get your items. Not recommended! Maybe the Mayer of City Mesa do some personal rotations for better service!

Does not work

I’ve been using the public surplus website for a while now and have purchased some items from them. I decided to try PublicSurplusBuyersApp today and was instantly disappointed. The “submit bid” tab doesn’t work at all and when i click on items it tends to freeze. I went back on the website and everything worked fine there.

They don’t listen to anything people recommend

First - the primary selection screen, every time you open PublicSurplusBuyersApp you have to select your region. Why can’t this be saved.

Second - why is there no ability to zoom on the pictures of items? For me to zoom into a photo I have to take a screenshot, go out of PublicSurplusBuyersApp and into photos just for me to get a better look at an item.

Awful Experience

In the past couple of weeks and months, the user experience on PublicSurplusBuyersApp has been egregiously awful. All I get is constant disconnects and log outs forcing me to spend valuable time to log back in. Sometimes, PublicSurplusBuyersApp is stuck on a constant loading screen when the web browser loads fine indicating a systemic issue in their overhaul of their mobile app. Don’t change what isn’t broken guys!

App is broken

I have been an avid user of public surplus and it’s app for the last three years. The most recent updates have ruined PublicSurplusBuyersApp . Previously, a message of expired token became very annoying and forced close PublicSurplusBuyersApp since the most recent update now I get a wheel of death and PublicSurplusBuyersApp never fully opens. Just a black screen that must be forced closed.

Government fraud

PublicSurplusBuyersApp is set up in a way where they can tell who works for the government and will prevent other bidders from bidding on an item if someone they favor has a bid in place. I know because they just prevented me from using my password to place a winning bid and then logged me out I signed back and using the same password that all of a sudden magically worked and I was on that app for an hour continuously with no issues. hopefully someone will do an investigation and get the people involved in this scam website charged with theft.
Someone may claim PublicSurplusBuyersApp just crashed but that is what a hacker or someone controlling the site is able to do... i typed my password in 3 times and thr clicked cancel and it logged me out. I had less than a minutr and they manipulated it to where I would not make it in time.
Please someone run an investigation

Consistently Inconsistent

When it's working, it's fine. I've had minimal issues with searches and items, and even if it doesn't remember location, search perameters or stay logged in, thats workable if annoying. However, it frequently just...breaks, and wont work at all. I've been getting an unclearable error message of "An error has occurred, please try again later ACCEPT" for at least a month despite reinstalling. This isn't the first time its happened, and it usually went away after an update, but I'm weary of it. More care needs to be done to make PublicSurplusBuyersApp stable and consistent. Until that's done, I cannot recommend using PublicSurplusBuyersApp , just use the browser. Honestly if improvements can't be made soon, public surplus should look into a different developer for a whole new app.

Clunky and outdated

It’s great PS have an app for bidding. But it falls flat on usability and performance. Had it been 2007 it was forgivable. But in this age, it’s not.

1. Every time you choose a region (which are hundreds per state) and view an item and when you click ‘Back’, you have to start all over again.

2. The UI is very clunky. With outdated design elements, it’s difficult to navigate between pages. Not to mention the “loading...” gif pops up every now and then.

Just stick with their website

PublicSurplusBuyersApp has less features than the actual website. And no ability to share or copy a link to an auction. From what I can tell the only benefit PublicSurplusBuyersApp may provide is push notifications regarding outbids, etc. Giving it 2 stars since it doesn't crash and is at least functional.

Easy yet difficult

Getting to the site you want us a pain in the neck and it does not remember previous selections, and you have to scroll through each site in your state. Once you log in it requires that you register an address and credit card, you cannot bypass this and you cannot logout. If the address on file is not correct you cannot change it, you have to contact them.

All that being said, once you get to the site the search and review is easy and bidding is push button.

“New” App

The revised app is worthless. I had to delete and reload it three times before I could get the login to work. The search page has the search button almost completely off screen and does not respond to touch. I had ZERO issues with the previous version of PublicSurplusBuyersApp . I’m guessing this was developed by the lowest bidder.

Still not right

I was hoping this latest update would fix the bug issues with PublicSurplusBuyersApp but unfortunately it has not. It’s still glitches up pretty bad. The website itself doesn’t have the same issues. It’s just not as easy to navigate.

Keep getting error message!

App was working before. But For days to weeks now, PublicSurplusBuyersApp has not been working. I can’t see the auctions. The minute I tap PublicSurplusBuyersApp and it starts loading, it defaults to a pop-up error message. I’ve deleted PublicSurplusBuyersApp and re-installed, thinking that would fix it but it hasn’t. Please help! Or just fix PublicSurplusBuyersApp .

A good start but missing some critical features

I was able to login very easily. I was able to do an advanced search just like I do on the website. This is about as far as I got before I came across two major shortcomings. You can’t pinch to zoom on auction images, and you can’t select text from within the auction descriptions.

If I’m doing something wrong send help.

An Iowa’s Opinion

PublicSurplusBuyersApp accomplishes the basic utility it seeks to fulfill - listing auction items to be bid on. I like the region selections and ability to search for specific items, but there is room for improvement when looking at individual listings.

I have found it frustrating that when viewing photos, they are presented in a static fashion. You cannot pinch to zoom in to see a finer level of detail. PublicSurplusBuyersApp also does not support landscape mode, which would help immensely when viewing a photo.

Public surplus items are rarely top-notch quality, so as a potential buyer, it’s important that I’m well informed about the condition about the items I’m looking at. Photos that can be zoomed in and out on, panned across, and viewed in landscape would be a welcomed improvement.

Good but needs work.

Bidder from OK here... in my opinion, PublicSurplusBuyersApp most importantly needs a ‘Share’ button, the ability to ‘Ask a Question’ about items and to view questions and answers by other users, zoom feature for photos. I do love the “Watch” and “Bid” options from the search screen. For now (22-Jan-2021) PublicSurplusBuyersApp remains a supplement to the browser-based interface.

Very Location Dependent; no website integration

What you get out of PublicSurplusBuyersApp depends a lot on whether you are near the sellers’ location, since most institutions don’t ship items.

I have a few gripes about the interface.

1. The distance control in advanced search is terrible. It should be a logarithmic scale not linear. The website uses a dropdown, and selections are basically log-scale. 10, 25, 50, then 100, 250, 500.

2. Your watch list from the desktop website doesn’t carry over here or vice-versa. Same account, two worlds. Make sure you watch auctions with PublicSurplusBuyersApp if you want a reminder when they end.

3. You can’t zoom images on PublicSurplusBuyersApp . Since places just kinda plop their auction lots in there without a lot of care to description, pictures are worth 1000 words. Sometime I can *almost* make out a model number. I find the same auction on the website and save the picture from there, then zoom in.

Other than that, it gets the job done.

Not working

Won’t work on my iPhone won’t load page I have adequate internet so that’s not it the online portion is fine just PublicSurplusBuyersApp is crashing
