Well I created an account online for my Father in Florida, I’m in Maryland. After checking the box someone is assisting me, and completing everything though create user I’d and password I was kicked out. Then couldn’t log in to put his address and particulars.
Then I created account online for myself to see what next steps. made it through in case of emergency screen and was kicked out. Attempted to log in. Error. Downloaded Smart911 verified my phone via txt. Couldn’t log in. Went to this app welcome email used link to go to account. Can’t log in.
On app select forgot user name and password. Entered email for a reset. Used email link. Entered info was rewarded with error too many log on attempts. I give up. Smart911 is not helpful. No instructions, help chatbot, or phone number to call for assistance. Same with the website no instructions, help chatbot or phone number.
I thought this would be good thing to do for my aging parents but apparently if you do not have access to the parents email, if they have one, forget it. Since we had to replace their smart phones with flip phones because they no longer can use the technology can’t go there. And as I mentioned I’m in another state. 87 year old deaf parent that just had heart surgery will probably not open email to access a link to verify email especially if there is a time limit. If in fact that is next step. Don’t know what happens - no instructions. this app is not very smart. Zero stars but had to select 1
This is such a good idea and necessary service. However, the execution of Smart911 is awful. Not to mention the password leaks. Smart911 is barely functional. It has a very antiquated interface that makes it difficult to enter information. It PERSISTENTLY demands access to your location and the “No thank you” option is hidden at the bottom is an almost identical color to the box. The execution of this whole app is embarrassing and I have my doubt about how it would actually work in an emergency.
Before doing anything with Smart911, read a few of the reviews. One person said the registration process was long, another indicated that he was unable to register, was kicked out twice, while setting up two separate accounts. With current IOS and Alexa, Smart911 is redundant. So before spending time setting it up, just going to delete.
I just upgraded to a new iPhone 11 am running iOS 13.6.1 and Smart911 will NOT let me sign back in. It keeps saying “Your phone number is now being used on another Device so you have been signed out of your account“. Seems by the negative reviews posted by others this is an ongoing issue the developers either can’t figure out how to fix or aren’t reading the reviews and are failing to address. Ironic that a safety app such as this is too buggy to be reliable or trustworthy.
Instead of telling everyone to reach out to tech support, why don’t you just post (or correct the obvious bug) a solution that will allow users to use your app after they create a account online. Too many users are being told the phone number not associated with this (iPad) device, when they already have an account.
Also, didn’t think anybody was still creating apps that don’t display natively on the iPad. It’s not 1980, time for you guys to catch up with the rest of Smart911 developers on the planet.
I have never received an alert. Smart911 is sluggish and glitchy. Can add a 2nd address, however cannot add alerts for it. Smart911 appears to be a great idea in theory! I have read so many reviews to learn issues others are experiencing which are the same and even more! I received a notification to update my info. which is why I even opened Smart911 , however, I am deleting as other users have, as Smart911 is useless. Wish it actually worked…
I downloaded Smart911 and yes we are just beginning to use it in our area. While setting up my profile on it I noticed so many issues. Like it won’t allow me to upload an image of myself and it prompts me to invite myself to download Smart911 after I have it downloaded. It wants me to keep location turned on but while it was on it would drain my battery fast and I never got any notifications on what was happening around me. There was even a high speed pursuit that happened and I got no information or warning on it. Smart911 is a failure and needs tons of problems fixed. Smart911 is more of a danger to the public than it is helpful
During the setup it doesn’t take my address correctly. It keeps putting my apartment number first then a space then the street number. This isn’t how we do addresses in the US. It would only confuse the ambulance driver which is exactly the opposite of my goal. In the end it gives me two options: either “confirm” the incorrect address format that Smart911 creates or delete my apartment number. Again neither option is viable since it would lead to delays when the ambulance arrives. Please delete my account. I don’t need any confusion from your company during an emergency. Reading the other reviews on here, it sounds like you really need to focus on getting all these bugs fixed first and then roll out your marketing. The stakes are too high to deal with a buggy app during a medical emergency.
I don’t know if it’s due to an update or what but I no longer get text notifications about road closures or severe weather even though I have those selected. I now have to have Smart911 use my location always instead of while using like I had it previously set. I don’t like it like this. I don’t check Smart911 to find road closures I like receiving the texts.
Well, I created my account on the website. Then downloaded Smart911 . I have double and triple-checked my phone number, ID and password, but Smart911 repeatedly says there is an account connected with my phone number, but my ID and password are incorrect or have changed. Huh?!
Update: The developers fixed my issue so I increased my update to three stars. After I am warned of a tornado or flooding, etc. I may wish to increase my rating again.
Overall, Smart911 is ok; however, if you live in Jefferson County, Colorado or any jurisdictions serviced by JeffCom (law enforcement dispatch) don’t bother with Smart911 for safety notifications. They hardly ever put out notifications and God knows this County isn’t crime free. They used to put out frequent notifications for Lakewood residents, but ALL JeffCom safety notifications for ALL areas have stopped. With geo tracking and 10 miles radius turned on, the only notifies I’ve received in the last year are for weather.
It took a long time to create my family profile because pictures were extremely hard to add. I had to try multiple pictures to finally get one that could be used. I had to walk away from it and go back. I hope this really helps in the event I ever have to use 911!
I wish Smart911 had a way to select the map area that you need to be warned about. Summer homes on remote lakes are not lived in year round, so those folks live in another place/state. Smart911 uses location services on cellphone settings to warn homeowners, but that isn’t good if the home is in a burning forested area and the homeowner lives somewhere else. Please add the ability to select on a map the place you want warnings about.
I came across Smart911 after reading about it in a local news article.
While moving through Smart911 , it seemed to take a bit longer than most apps to save, cancel, and/or open a link. I was able to enter some basic info and details but could not get photos to upload. I have never had an issue like that on other apps, so it might be something to work on.
If I made changes to info and did not press save and then tried to upload a photo, Smart911 would just go back to the profiles tab and not save my changes. If I only went in to a profile to upload a photo, it would hang for a few seconds and then a window would appear to center/crop a photo, but no photo would appear. I tried this multiple times with the same results.
I was going to submit a bug report but there is no info in Smart911 or even a link.
I am a 911 dispatcher who uses the software to be able to access information from this app when someone calls for help. This has been a literal life saver for situations when the caller needs help but cannot speak due to safety or for medical reasons.
Suggestions:
Be able to put warnings or alerts on information provided to us. Does the phone owner live in a domestically violent relationship? That would be vital so we don’t dismiss a call as 911 hang ups or open lines.
Be able to put vacation info into Smart911 for people traveling. Destinations, hotels, etc.
I downloaded Smart911 almost a year ago. Haven’t used it yet for an emergency, but I like it. I hope it help me when I need it and I love it anyway thank you for being there for me. I hope this will help me when I need it.
Works great. Easy to fill out necessary medical info for emergency response teams. Important to have for family members to also be able to access important health info to get instant help for you.
Appreciate the detailed emergency alerts being generated through Smart911. Much better than previous app that had been used for these types of notifications.
Keeps telling me I am signed in on another device! I have no other device. I have confirmed my login and password online so I don’t know what’s going on.
Love the “How it works” section and how it clearly explains why I should be using Smart911 .
I never knew 911 call takers only had my mobile number and a general location in the event that I call 911! Now they’ll have much more to work with.
Would definitely recommend people to sign up for this and have it be ready and updated for when an emergency strikes and fingers crossed that never happens.
