How to change the battery in my Govee thermometer/hygrometer. I can’t get the old battery out.

By Work lots play some

Disappointing

I had asked for the Govee as a gift with WiFi and two temperature/humidity sensors. I found it a little bit of a challenge to get things to connect over WiFi, but not too bad. I put one sensor inside and one outside between a window and screen. I really like that I do not have to use Bluetooth on my phone and that I can check temp. and humidity from anywhere I have a signal. The first problem I had is that the app will periodically loose the sensors and I have to look up my password and re-login. I also found the help through the app to be not much help, especially when a phone call would be significantly more efficient and effective. So problem is still not solved. Now both sensors report a fault. One then started working. I replaced the batteries on the other and it still showed a fault. So I deleted its connection to add it back manually. Just to find out there are no instructions to add the sensor back manually. I was give these for Christmas 2019. It is now May 3rd, 2020. Needless to say I will not buy more for the rest of my house or recommend to family. Very disappointed.

Requires Wi-Fi to set up devices on the app, cannot used cellular data connection

My iPhone 13 is running iOS 15.2. The Govee home app installed is version 4.7.2. I am on cellular data and I tried connecting multiple 5705 thermometers to the app. They show up as Bluetooth devices within the app, with the correct device names. When trying to connect to them, from the app, you can see the connection icon on the device, so they are communicating over Bluetooth. The app then comes back with a Network Error indication and the device doesn’t pair. If I use my iPhone as a hotspot, then connect my iPad running 15.2 to the hotspot, I can use the app on my iPad to connect to my the devices successfully. Since I don’t have Wi-Fi at my location and these are Bluetooth devices, why are they dependent on a Wi-Fi network to setup on the app? Please update the app to allow set up of the devices, when using cellular data. Also the Network Error indication is misleading, as it should say Wi-Fi Network Error. The user assumes it is a Bluetooth Network Error, because they are pairing a Bluetooth device at the time.

H5074 Great for humidor!

Update: so this would be awesome if it pushed data to my iPhone at regular intervals. It does not. So it really doesn’t matter if you set the alarms, you will not get a high/low alarm unless you manually sync. If you are manually syncing you don’t need an alert, because you will see it yourself. So the only thing that is good about this unit is that I can manually check the current humidity and temp without having to open my humidor. UPDATE: this unit has always been off compared to two other hygrometers I have. I decided to perform a salt test. After the test, my other two were fine, one at 75% and one at 76%. This Govee unit read 88.6%!!! Off by 13.6%! Unfortunately the app calibration will only adjust 9%, so it always reads 4.6% higher than it really is. Stupid. Please please make the app so it will allow a larger calibration! Honestly 13.6% is really bad, but if I could calibrate it to correct the full difference I wouldn’t care. The app should easily be able to increase from +/- 9% to +/- 15% or 20%. The Govee hygrometer should be better than this but at least I could use it.
