I’m updating my review because this company does not stand behind their product. I no longer can recommend this product. The lights and controllers did not hold up and Cololight is full of bugs.

I really love these lights. All in all the lights installed easily and connected to HomeKit with no issue. Cololight has nice preset dynamic effects and they work great. However, if you attempt to play with some of the other pre made effects the lights freeze, not all of them but about half. This is extremely frustrating. You also can’t really do much in the advanced customization tab either because this also freezes the lights and they won’t respond. I know these are bugs that may or may not get fixed but it would be nice if everything worked like it was designed to do. The amount of customization available with these lights is incredible if they can get it to work properly. Again, I’m rating Cololight and not the lights, the lights are a solid 5 stars, Cololight just needs some attention and bug killer.

Cololight doesn’t work at all without enabling location access, and it requires that you type in your plaintext Wifi password without providing any reason why. Why do the providers of Cololight need my precise location and WiFi password? This is not acceptable. We will not be using the lights that Cololight controls.

Even the “official library” custom displays use colors that can’t actually be created, specifically sharp orange and reds. The few color options in the custom design menu are all really dull.

There are really cool options for making custom designs but with how much work was put into creating that system it is really lame that you only get like 10 color options. You should also ad the ability to fade between colors/frames rather than just flashing. Without these changes the feature is pretty worthless.

If you can address these two issues I’d gladly call this a 5 star app.

I naively gave Cololight all my personal information and my WiFi password. I liked the lights and colors initially but gave up on them once I tried to sync the two and ended up wasting 45 min trying to get them to work. I didn’t think anything of it until my credit cards were hacked the next day. I’ve never been hacked. There is absolutely no reason why this company needs to have access to your location at all times, be connected to your Bluetooth and have your personal WiFi password unless it was spyware.

The light itself is great, but Cololight is a complete waste of time. Apparently it won’t connect to WIFI unless you use 2.4 g, so if you have 5 g (like me and probably most other people) Cololight is pointless. It would be nice if they would fix this issue because as far as I’ve seen, no one has gotten this to connect for any reasonable amount of time. For now, I guess we’re stuck with the boring pre-set patterns. So disappointing.

This is legitimate trash development...blank pages with nowhere to go in Cololight , inability to connect to any WiFi (I tried multiple networks) after all troubleshooting steps are taken. This looks like a shotty development mockup that someone through together, with no real backend at all. Not even worthy of beta. Do not buy these lights if you’re expecting to use them over WiFi like I was.

The colors and designs are cool but when I go to change the colors it works just fine for a while but then when I try to change the brightness it completely disconnects from my device and it won’t reconnect no matter what I do, I have to wait till I wake up then next day to get it to reconnect. If Cololight didn’t disconnect so much I’d rate it a five star but since it’s wasted so much of my time I can’t

I really wanted to connect these lights to HomeKit, so I plugged them into a HomeKit plug. Unfortunately, when I turn the plug off and back on, the color isn’t saved. It resets to the spinning blue/green. I’m going to have to return them if I can’t get this to remember my color settings when powering off/on.

You show these options on Cololight page photos but they are not in Cololight . What’s the deal?

The lights receive 5 stars, they are extremely capable alongside Cololight . The format of Cololight and reliability of connection are the only negatives. I have adjusted to the format but requires a lot of trial and error. I’ll gladly update my app when one is ready.

Worked good for about a week with Cololight then I changed WiFi and now it won’t connect at all!!! I’ve tried deleting Cololight ,resetting WiFi/router. Still won’t work!

I’ve had much success using the apps’s default static and dynamic scenes, but when I attempt to create my own, it never applies. Once this feature works as intended, I will make sure to adjust my rating as I really do like this product.

Cololight for the this app works pretty well, and I am more than happy with my light and Cololight . The setup was pretty easy overall, and Cololight itself feels a little “fragile” and wonky at times. Everything was setup in less than 15 mins which was awesome.

The one thing that i noticed that was pretty frustrating, was that when I would swipe right to go to the full colors, when ever I selected tea white, the light itself would disconnect itself and freeze on white. The only way I could fix this is by unplugging the light and closing and reopening Cololight . The same thing would happen rarely when making a custom presset everyonce and a while.

Overall I rate the light 8/10 really vibrant and dantastic in person, cameras dont do it justice

My this app app won’t connect to my lights. I checked and it’s the pro and I have 2.4hz WiFi. It just won’t get past the configure. I’m sad

Cololight is awesome and lets me get creative and make my room festive! The thing is after this Halloween update, I’m not able to zoom in.

Love the lights, quality, everything about them. Just have one big problem with Cololight disconnecting & when I try again it doesn’t want to connect again. Don’t know if it’s just with me but it seems like Cololight doesn’t work good enough connecting to the lights.

I think Cololight has bad reviews because... people are IDIOTS. Cololight is so simple to work and the light is great and it’s a good alternative to NanoLeaf.

Edit: Turns out I entered the wrong WiFi password, now it works fine.

Cololight worked great until the most recent update, now it won’t let me connect to the this app, and says “device offline”.

I honestly have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. Maybe those people aren’t reading the directions or aren’t very tech savvy. I personally do not have to enter my password every single time I turn it on. I just turn it on and off. I think those people are definitely missing a couple steps.
As far as making my own designs, I’ve already done many and they’re pretty. I plan on getting more panels. I have 11 right now with 2 bases and just bought a couple more panels. Slowly building it up. :)
The only think I would like help with is how to make those dynamic patterns move like the preset ones? How to I customize it myself? I saw a screen on the website but I don’t know how to get to it.
I’ve had this light for a while now and just found out you can customize your own single color and it’s really pretty to look at when you play music & it will change colors or blink to the sounds.
Hope the developer gets back to me on how to further customize the panels.
For the ppl that think they have to enter their WiFi and password each time, you’re doing it wrong and should ask for help.

In custom mode, it is very lagging. Library for model should be integrated into Cololight . Needs loading every time
