As a software engineer, I understandably have a lot of criticism for this application. First off, the DraftKings real-time sports data and odds API is considerably slower than its major competitor’s, FanDuel. On average, DraftKings takes 6-8 times longer to submit a bet than FanDuel. This, obviously, occurs at the expense of the bettor. The application also freezes quite a bit and fails to settle bets within a normal time frame (approximate 4-5 times longer than FanDuel), which also occurs at the expense of the bettor. Sometimes DraftKings won’t settle a bet that for over a day, even when the outcome of the sports event has been verified. Lastly, DraftKings experiences outages significantly more frequently than FanDuel, at a rate of 3-4 times more than its competitor. The data I’ve provided has been collected over a period of 2 months, which honestly does not look good for DraftKings. On the bright side,
I do appreciate the extensive range of promotions that DraftKings has to offer, which is much more than what FanDuel has under its belt. I also enjoy the broader range and variety of bets that can be placed using DraftKings. Overall, this application has the potential to be much better, but at the moment it’s pretty garbage minus the promotions.
