I was one of the first to own the original meat stick and I got the wifi bridge back age with two meat sticks. They both stopped working about a month after the warranty expired and when I reached out to the company I never got a response. I can’t imagine I would have gotten a response even if I was within the warranty period. Both meat sticks look fine and charge good but won’t connect. It’s very frustrating especially for how expensive they are.

TLDR: The temperature measurement is not accurate in terms of measuring the tip of the probe and it unnecessarily requires your exact location always. I don’t think this would be useful for most cooks.

TheMeatStick requires you always share your precise location in order to even connect to the thermometer. This seems like a blatant information grab because there’s no reason my thermometer needs to know where it is.

The accuracy is also questionable. The measuring point for the probe IS NOT the tip of the probe. It seems to be an average temperature along the entire exposed metal piece. I found this out by placing just the tip into a pot of hot water. The more fully the exposed metal was placed into the water, the hotter the output.

Response speed is also slow. I found it to be within 30 seconds, but the probe has to be fully implanted in whatever your measuring.

It’s obviously ridiculous for an app to ask for your precise location unless and until you are navigating or doing something that actually is useful to YOU. Cooking meat? You know where you are already! They don’t need to know unless they want to violate your privacy.

Unfortunately, TheMeatStick doesn’t work at all until you set your iPhone to allow TheMeatStick maker to track you all of the time. Awesome?

I rolled my eyes and thought to myself, fine, I’ll just turn it off after I’m done cooking. Well, not so much.

Then — the best part — I realized that the Meat Stick’s internal thermometer was off by a factor of at least 20°F!

Like a good engineer, I doubted this at first when I was double checking the temp with another meat thermometer. So, I pulled out YET ANOTHER meat thermometer. The two non Meat Sticks agreed with one another within one degree! Meat Stick? Not so much. It registered at least 20°F over the other two thermometers.

I won’t elaborate too much re the short range of the Meat Stick. It’s ridiculous. 10 feet away from the closed grill = no signal. They should NOT have released this product without an external booster.

This is a shoddy product that violates your privacy for no reason AND gives you false readings. I returned mine and I suggest you do too. I wish I could give zero stars. Very disappointing.

I was very excited about my purchase of the MeatStick but after many attempts to use the product I can honestly say this is a very bad product. At first, it had no problem pairing and working during my cook. But after use of more than three or four times it just stop working and will not show on TheMeatStick or the bridge unit. The customer service folks are good and will communicate with you to resolve the problem. In fact, they sent me three new probes over a period of two months and all three stop working only after a few use. Since I was pass the 30 day guarantee period they would not fund my money back. Not the employees fault but a company policy which stink for me. I would love to be able to use this product but I just can’t get them to stay working. Don’t waste your time buying the MeatStick. Very bad product that needs more work.

Just absolutely bewildering that they brought this product to market without a battery. I will always recall the moment I open the package, and stared at their directions literally telling you to both keep the bridge within 6 feet of the thermometer, but also, plugged into a power source. Just absolutely baffling that they expect the customer to supply their own power source for their product. Additionally, this falls into the Classic ill-connecting smart device bucket, where you’re virtually setting up a new connection every time you use the thing. Finally, there appears to be a roughly 15m delay in what my app is reading vs contemporaneous temperature of the meat or the cooker- easily enough time to absolutely ruin plenty of good smoked meats. Welled with regret about this purchase.

Don’t waste your time with this product.

I was excited to get and try the MeatStick. TheMeatStick is a little clunky but was able to get up and running.

After thoroughly cleaning and charging the sticks both stopped connecting to TheMeatStick during the 4th cook. (About 2 weeks).

Customer service is poor. Slow response, lack of service, too many back and forths to try to get a resolution. They are making me send back the sticks before they send a replacement as if I would go through all of this trouble to get a product that works. Believe me, I don’t want this busted product.

Save yourself a headache and go for a different thermometer if you want to have a good experience. I can’t vouch for another product but it couldn’t be worse than this one.

This is the second MeatStick I have purchased. The first one worked once and then would not connect. Your service department told me I had damaged it by exceeding 500 degrees. I do not recall ever going anywhere near that temperature but purchased a replacement stick. The replacement stick will not connect either. The charger has fresh batteries, the stick has been charging over 24 hours, the top is shiny clean, and I have followed all trouble shooting instructions.

I. Ever cook anything that goes above 350 degrees so exceeding 500 degrees can not be the problem. The MeatStick is a good product when it works but when your meat is ready to go on the cooker, it is to late to be troubleshooting and trying to get it to work.

I used it one time, cleaned it put it on the charger and put it in the cupboard about three days later, even though it’s advertised as keeping charged, I went to use it and it said it did not have enough power to be used. I put it on the charger again make sure that the batteries had full charge. Next time I wanted to use it, I hit the charger button in the morning. By afternoon, after having been on the charger most of the day, when I went to connect they told me it had less than 20% charge and needed to be in low power mode. If it actually hold a charge it was good for more than one use I probably would have given it five stars. UPDATE -got it to charge, and sometimes it works, definitely better if you got an opening on top of the stove and keep your phone within 3 feet of the stove. If you put it in a toaster oven it’s iffy if you actually put it in the oven even keeping your phone within 3 feet of the oven it disconnects and it will not reconnect. It is so rarely actually working, that I considered to never work

I’m in my 3rd meat stick. I love the product when it works but after a few uses it stops connecting to TheMeatStick . The company has been great in response when I have these problems and have sent me out new ones after a few trouble shooting options. Not sure why it keeps haven’t this issue but I hope 3rd time is the charm. I hope this 3rd one will last longer than a couple uses.

This is a second set a got from you guys , the first one was sent back cuz was not compatible with spectrum router and your equipment then got another set with the xtender , I used it once the second time try to use it , TheMeatStick wouldn’t recognized it was charged but the charger keeps giving me red light but looking at it carefully I found out the end of probe is loose after one use .
The other problem why would you app needs the location always on ?

As a thermometer, it seems to work - if you can figure out the interface. When TheMeatStick opens, you get a confusing mostly empty screen. Is the thermometer on - I have no idea, it doesn’t say what is and what is not working. Is the extender on - again no idea. TheMeatStick has the opportunity to be great, instead it fails to be intuitive, but succeeds at ambiguity. When you open an app, it should be very clear to simplest of simpletons what is or is not going on. Open TheMeatStick, I have no idea what is going on, and I more tech savvy than most. Click around & it’s even more confusing as to whether the equipment is on or off. No current status indicators, such as “Thermometer: Off/On” or “Extender: Off/On”. Only a few unhelpful tiny icons & a graphic logo in the background. When you click on them it tries to add new equipment. I don’t want to add equipment easier than I can discover the status of my existing equipment. Bury that in another layer, bring my status to the top layer.

This was a very expensive thermometer and I was really expecting a great tool. So far, I have been very disappointed. Despite buying the bridge extender, the thermometer frequently looses its connection, even when the bridge and base are within a foot or two of the thermometer probe. TheMeatStick is also not very helpful. I frequently have to go back to the instructions in the box to figure out how to get started. Often, the recommendation is to remove the probe from the meat, place it back in the base, press the start button and wait for it to connect. This had the promise of being something great, but falls way short. Wish I could return it and get something else.

TheMeatStick is great easy to set up and use. The MeatStick itself….not so much. I’ve had it for just over a year and have never successfully completed a cook with it. Why? The Wi-Fi bridge disconnects at least once every hour, and it’s not a simple one click to reconnect it. More importantly, the temperatures are nowhere near correct! Last week I was snoring some meat, TheMeatStick showed an ambient temperature of 250. It was actually 340! Same is true with the internal meat temperature. At this point. The MeatStick is useless to me. If TheMeatStick had a way to adjust the temperature reading to make it accurate, that would solve this major problem.

I used to use my MeatStick every week with no issues. I also recent got two of the Mini sticks. I haven’t had the opportunity to use them as much lately but definitely seems to be some issues. While using TheMeatStick , a pop up keeps telling me I have to update to the newest version, but I already have the newest version. Very frustrating.

This is a really well made thermometer, and can withstand high cooking temps. However, I have a pit boss 820 pellet smoker and every time I try using the MeatStick mini, it loses connection when I close the lid. It wouldn’t be that bad if it reconnected when I opened the lid back up.. but it won’t even do that. One time it deleted my cooking profile altogether. Maybe it’s just not made to be used with all metal smokers... TheMeatStick itself works fairly well, but can be cumbersome to set up and connect your MeatStick.

Only downside so far is the WiFi bridge is powered by USB and does not come with a USB Adapter for your wall outlet. Would have hoped the power plug would have been built in, or at least came with the USB adapter. But alas, I’ll steal my USB adapter from my iPhone for all the other crap it is used to power...

I’ve had the MeatStick for almost 2 months now! It cost a pretty penny, so I was only able to get the one. If you can afford to get multiple sticks with the Wi-Fi range boosters, it’s definitely worth it!

Their customer service is amazing! I had an issue and I reported it through TheMeatStick and the responded with a solution the very next day!

Definitely worth the money! My steaks have been perfectly cooked and nice and tender!!!

Easy to use and set up. It is very reliable and the probe is ingenious where one end is for meat temp and the other is for grill temp. The only issue is on smaller cuts or where you are not able to push the thermometer in the required depth you will have to use a different thermometer. I highly recommend

The temperature of the sticks match my wired thermometer when I was checking how accurate they were. I also had some problems with the first set that I bought and they sent me new ones right away after sending the old ones back.

This has made such a difference! I purchased the MeatStick because of its size; I have a Foodi Indoor grill and needed something that would fit in the grill and still give me the ability to move the meat/chicken around. It works great! You can customize all the settings and alerts, so the food comes out perfect every time.

I bought this and was very excited to use it. Worked wonderfully the first time. However since that time it has been very unreliable. I have tried to us it 6 times and only twice was I able to get the stick to connect to TheMeatStick . I have the extender also cleaned the stick, changed batteries even have gotten help from MeatStick. Unfortunately I can’t get it to connect to TheMeatStick at all now. Verry disappointed

TheMeatStick has crashed my phone four times since installing yesterday. No error message, the whole thing reboots suddenly. Never happened before installing. TheMeatStick is annoying and overly complex for checking temperature. 30 screens of tutorials you have to click through. And it asks NONSTOP for you to turn on location tracking at all times. It tracks you 24/7 for no reason. Terrible design for something as simple as a thermometer.

I have the extender model. It’s accurate and has great range. Missing a watch app though. to be able to monitor snd adjust without having to pull out the phone would be a big plus. give me the watch app and you get 5 stars.

The MeatStick with the WiFi Bridge made this possible. I was pleased with how the chicken tasted. It was juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The MeatStick was completely in the chicken and angled away from the rotisserie arm. This equipment allowed me to accomplish restaurant quality food.

Love the device - super easy to use and gives you the meat temp and the temp of the grill.

My grill is a long way from where we relax and I was able to monitor the progress while watching TV with my family.

Used it two times in two days and I love the way it works worth the money. I did a chicken on a rotisserie with the meat stick in the breast meat took it off at 165 and it was perfect. No worries about the wire I love it. Also I put the Meat stock in the kitchen and took it out to the grill, love it

Takes a bit to figure out but it’s a very high quality probe and works very well, I started with the single probe extender set and now I have three probes all together, very good product and I highly recommend it!

I received the MeatStick as a gift over Christmas. Since then, I’ve used it for an oven roasted beef tenderloin and then a prime rib. Both came out perfect. I wish I could upload pictures to prove it. The MeatStick takes a lot of guess work out of the equation.

I purchased the Bridge set and an extra meatstick for a total of 3 meatsticks. Cooked chicken thighs to 170 degrees and chicken legs at 165 degrees on the same cook and the meatsticks worked perfectly. Was able to monitor the cook on my iPhone and iPad just fine. Very easy to set-up and connect to my internet. Would highly recommend.

Folks I just did a London broil and it came out amazing. It was right on the money. I can’t overcook anything anymore. It works flawlessly. I’m buying one for my Dad and my nephew. Thanks meat stick. Can I get a repeat customer discount? Thanks Dave
