Failed to function as expected horrible customer service

meterUPParking failed to notify me at the appropriate time that my meter was about to expire. I verified my setting were correct and it was set up to notify me in meterUPParking and through email. The time my parking expired was 1:21 and it was supposed to notify me 15 minutes prior to that. I received the email at 1:15, but only gave me six minutes notice. In addition meterUPParking itself never notified me. I had my phone in front of me on a table and no notification came through. When I decided to go to meterUPParking to see how much time is remaining is simply said no activity. There was nothing that said your recent parking expired there was no way for me to view my history, which was a glitch in meterUPParking . The way meterUPParking was formatted on the screen of my phone was faulty. If after manually closing meterUPParking it worked...for a while. The menu at the top of meterUPParking was cut off on my phone and I couldn’t use it. As a result I received a parking ticket because I was nine minutes late getting back to my car. meterUPParking did not notify me and that when I looked at meterUPParking it didn’t say anything about my recent activity so I could determine how much time was left or if my time was in fact, up. I sent a message to customer service through meterUPParking and over a week later I got a response which referred me to their terms and conditions and essentially told me that they’re not responsible for their app working as intended.

Best Street Parking

meterUPParking has saved me so much money, time, and the headaches of dealing with “The Philadelphia Parking Authority” since they are known to regularly ruins people’s days over technicality’s meterUPParking is essential if traveling or living in the city and especially if you hope to find philadelphia street parking!

Traffic tickets happen everywhere but for some reasons the parking authority in philadelphia is particularly known to be more aggressive with handing out parking tickets, it’s most likely because they must make BANK seeing as though they have many employees in many neighborhoods at the ready with nothing else to do but wait for your meter to run out!

This would be so useful to philadelphia to have people dedicated to improving the streets, however if you travel or live in the city you know the state of the streets, there’s a pot hole epidemic, if the philadelphia parking authority provided improvements to the streets or parking spaces (which are a complete mess), I must have missed them. I also don’t think people would be so hostile towards the parking authority if they actually were helpful and had better customer service.

So if you have a nice car park in a garage hands down. If you’re adventurous and daring enough to street park you need MeterUP!

Five star app!

Perfect perfect perfect, a must in Philly

If live, work, or visit Philly often, you must get meterUPParking. The fact that I can sit in my car and pay for my parking without taking money or credit card out of my pocket is fantastic! The safety issue alone is enough to get meterUPParking, not to mention the convenience of not having to return to the meter or kiosk to add money or only pay for the amount of time used instead of giving the PPA more money then they deserve.

I like the Apple Pay feature, it’s the easiest form of payment. It’s just a well thought out app. There will be those folks who will complain, but half the time they don’t know how to use an app and and then use meterUPParking as an excuse for their lack of knowledge.

Anyway, thank you for this. It’s going to save me both time and money.

I keep getting logged out. But to dispute a ticket is easier.

You guys keep logging me out! That’s annoying especially as I’m in a hurry oftentimes and don’t have time to be messing around with an app which is suddenly not recognizing a password that I’ve forgotten—because you now have this “foolproof” fingerprint scan!!!

Please do something with that!

On the brighter side, I KNEW my ticket was unjust. I simply took the ticket they had cited me for, and screen snapped the times in which I was covered by meter up. When the courts asked for proof to cite in contesting the ticket, it was easy to use the screen cap to justify my issue. So while i didn’t at all care for getting ticketed while I was under that halo of protection from y’all, I got justice after several months of waiting for it to process.

—But right now, for instance I can’t even log into my account once I paid, and now can’t issue a STOP payment on it when I get outta the parking space. (I was sent a confirmation email about a successful payment.) So one of the best features on it (being able to not pay for time you don’t use!) is disabled—strictly because you guys just somehow kicked me off of the thing. Ugh.

NICE!!!

I really like meterUPParking I can see that they did a lot off detailed work on meterUPParking. at first I didn’t think it was really going to work I put it to the test when I was at the hospital with the birth of my grandson at a center city hospital where parking is very costly! So I put in a few coins knowing my time was limited so I took down the codes that’s on the machine and when I knew my time was up I told my daughter I’m going to give this a try but I told her I bet when I get to my car i’m going to have ticket. I left the hospital and walked up to my car and to my surprise no ticket!!! sweet!! I been using meterUPParking every since. it will only charge you for the time used. nice addition I do have one problem I don’t like is the FEE!!! really...🤨

Visiting Philly

App works good. Hotel we were staying in had no parking and said they tow cars at 8am sharp and to park in the lot down the corner for $30 a day, cause the PPA will tow cars at 8am sharp. They didn’t mention meterUPParking or how the parking worked. We were leaving around 9 or 10 am anyway so to walk out and pay $30 for parking would have sucked for 5 days we were here. So I would wake up load my parking section add the 2 hours for $5.40 and didn’t even have to get out of bed. Saved a $120 .....I Was thinking the hotel was trying to get us to park in that lot as maybe they own it and just trying to get another tourist!!

Expensive and difficult to use

I experienced some issues when I used it this past weekend during a salon visit in Philly. I did not realize the pricing doubles when you extend time! I paid $6.80 for 4 hours when the price should have only almost half that! I thought the extended price was the total however it was showing that I needed to pay additional. Before I went to extend the third time, I set a reminder BUT my phone did not alert me! When I went to pay for my spot again, the price shot up to just under $7 for me to keep my spot. Absolute rip off! I’ll never use this metered parking service again! There were others that I have used in the past that are fair and don’t rip you off! I had to move my car and luckily a free parking spot emptied for me. It was not convenient to run out of a salon, hair looking crazy to find a spot either!

Terrible set-up

Poorly designed. First experience was ridiculous - followed all prompts to park and repeatedly had to sign in - once to app and suddenly redirected to. Website to sign in again. Then I put in payment method - Apple Pay not available so went through signing into PayPal. Back to app - lost all my parking info so start from scratch. Put in parking info, suddenly I need to put in car info. Did that. Reset - start again. Put in parking info, asked to pay, and suddenly Apple pay is an option! So why did you demand my PayPal info? Terrible.

Customer service is horrible

I received 2 parking tickets 2 times I used meterUPParking . Both times I got the tickets my app timer still had over 20 mins left for parking. It is very difficult to find a person to talk to and you do get someone on the phone they are rude and keep asking the same questions over and over and then tell you they have to transfer you to another person to do the explanation over again only to tell you they don’t know why and you have to call another number. They would not tell me what this new number was. Then you call the local parking authority and they tell you to call meterUP

Finally Philly provides something Superb!

I was a little skeptical with meterUPParking when I first used it a few weeks ago because I was not sure whether the parking authority will still issue me a ticket even though I have paid via meterUPParking. They have been issued wrong tickets before with the paid receipts sitting on my dashboard.
Anyway, meterUPParking is very easy to use & turned out fine. It even returned the time/money when I leave easily. A little extra processing fee though.
A total peace of mind.

Defense against the PPA

So far meterUPParking has saved me from the worst parking authority in the country—Philadelphia’s. meterUPParking lets me pay while I’m far from the meter, and prevents this awful organization from hawking over my car to give me a ticket. Also, I am pretty sure this only charges me for the time I’m actually parked there. They’ve made millions from overpayments in the city. If meterUPParking fails me, I’ll be sure to change my review, but for now, I hope everyone in Philly gets meterUPParking .

No Support Info

I will begin by saying that I got a ticket because I put in the wrong zone number when I used meterUPParking . I will admit that was user/my error. When I went to dispute the ticket a couple months later (I completely forgot about it til I was cleaning my car), I went to my parking history and saw the payment was no longer in my account history. Fine. But here I am now searching the Internet high and low for customer service for meterUPParking to get me the info from when I paid in meterUPParking so I can dispute the ticket. No customer service info on meterUPParking .

Ticket

I got a ticket bc for some reason meterUPParking failed to work. I called and called, as I’ve used meterUPParking so many times and was sure they could at least see the attempt and help me in some way. Nope, they could not have cared less. I lost the 6 bucks for parking and got a ticket. BS.

I was just contacted to say “contact meter up I’m sure they can help you.” An email I can’t reply to no less, and as I mentioned I already did and they did nothing. When meterUPParking works it’s great, but if it doesn’t just one time you’re going to get a ticket and they will say that’s your problem not theirs. It is unreliable and they do not back up their app by rectifying when meterUPParking has a glitch. Be careful out there y’all!!!

Got a ticket due to a glitch — thanks a lot!

I live in Philadelphia as a student and use meterUPParking often when I am in Center City or Manayunk, usually without fail. Until today, it would’ve been a 5-star app; but apparently one small error meterUPParking made is now going to cost me $36, which I can’t afford to be dishing out when I was in belief that I had paid for my parking. meterUPParking asked for my authorization for Apple Pay and had seemingly gone through, only for me to come and find a ticket on my windshield. There is not a single record, in my emails or within meterUPParking , of the transaction that I had authorized with my fingerprint and now I owe the city money for a ticket that should have never been issued.

Works well. Make sure you put the right license plate number in

App works well for me after a tough start. I was getting tickets while using meterUPParking and it turns out, after three tickets and a week of trying to figure out why, I discovered I had put the wrong license plate number in by one number. Double check you enter your info right!

Up charge scam

The fact that the company who owns meterUPParking (wether it’s the ppa or the city of Philadelphia Idk) double and TRIPLE charge people if you need more time on the meter is disgusting. I understand it being a little more expensive for the “convenience “ but you should be ashamed of yourselves. Working around the Penn area is I’m possible to park and you price gouge people who are just trying to make it to work. You can use the excuse that you do it so other people can park but I call bullsh**. You do it because people sometimes have no other option than to pay your outrageous fees. I avoid using meterUPParking whenever I can but days like today when I have to use it leaves me feeling so ripped off.

Difficult to prove you paid after receiving a ticket

Works great until you get a ticket. Paid using meterUPParking , got a ticket, contested and was told i need to show proof. Took screen shots of my parking session from the history. However this information fails to include the license number. Okay. Contact meter up, they send you to park mobile to login in online and view your history, but this is a different site and when you login it shows no history. It’s a rip off, no way to prove you paid in a way to satisfy the city. PPA continues to win. Paid 12 to park plus the ticket fee almost $50 dollars for 2hrs. Unacceptable and intentional way to make more money off paying customers.

Be Carefull

While it is convenient be aware that if you use it to pay the first 2/3 hours in Philly. Hours 4-6 are double the price and triple after that. Also it may limit you to only the 2/3 hour period and you will need to move out of the zone. Best advice is to pay using your credit card for the first 2/3 hours. Take a photo of the zone number so if you need to extend you can pay remotely. Also if you get back to your vehicle you can stop the meter and pay less than the original amount. The catch with that is if you “stop” the meter but then try to restart it it won’t let you and you again need to move to a different zone.

Great app overall

While I do like meterUPParking (very convenient), I couldn’t give it 5 stars as after their update, you cannot see past seasons unless you start a new parking session???? Basically, you canny see what you’ve paid unless you pay more. That’s just wrong logic. I should be able to see my history without “paying” for it. Also, you still get notifications that your session is about to expire even if you stopped the session.

“No Bad...”

** meterUPParking needs a comprehensive list of available parking (not just favorites), in order to find the most desired and available parking on the day in say, Center City Philadelphia, for instance; especially including motorcycles specific zones. Also, I can’t change the nickname of the vehicle if the vehicle is currently “parking”. Lastly, parking is for the city to cash-in on obstructive and restrictive parking; NOT to “cash out” financial hardship in an actual game of where to park by confusion. Hope this helps.**

It’s ok

There’s days when meterUPParking will give you trouble, won’t except payment or will forget all your “favorite” locations when you go to park. But generally it works (minus all the new pop ups they have alerting you of parking zones and hours that aren’t normally applicable to the zone your parking in).
Biggest rip off is that it costs you more money to use meterUPParking than it would to use the actual kiosk. It’s the credit charging fee- which I’m sure they could get waved if they spoke to the credit card companies.
Overall, it’s worth the download especially because when it rains the kiosks only take credit cards and reject all cash. There’s also times when the kiosks are down completely and meterUPParking is the only way to park or you’ll get a ticket from one of the PPA stalking your car to write a ticket the very minute your meter expires even though they’re supposed to wait 2-5 minutes depending on the zone.

For the first six months of 2022, I've frequently received the message "Incorrect zone" when trying to park in some zones. The solution is to use a credit card, but am wondering if the "signal" to the meter-up app has somehow been changed.
