CAUTION terrible customer service

I was trying to reserve future parking for a football game at US Bank stadium since I don’t go downtown often and find the parking situation very stressful. I found a ramp and quickly reserved a spot. I didn’t realize it defaults to the current time which I was obviously NOT downtown yet. I quickly (like within 1 minute) called their customer service line to have them cancel the reservation so I could revise the time to later. The woman on the phone said sure that she would submit the request for refund and then sent me a link to track my request. I have heard NOTHING from them yet and that was over 3 weeks ago. I’ve commented within the request tracker several times and emailed them. Still no response. In the meantime, the charge continues to appear on my credit card statement and it is NOT a small charge given it was event parking at US Bank Stadium. I’m guessing they just collect on people errors and then ignore any requests for cancelations. Very disappointed with the response and lack of service especially since I tried taking care of the issue with 1 minute of making the mistake.

Great App

I love MPLSParking. It works perfectly. I had to laugh at the reviewer who gave it one star because he couldn't remember his own password. I would give the reviewer one star, but I wouldn't blame MPLSParking . Then there was the reviewer who complained because there is a $0.25 charge per transaction. If it's too expensive, don't use it, but that doesn't make it a bad app. MPLSParking provides a service you cannot get by paying at the meter. You do not need to return to the meter to add more time. Very nice if you've gone to dinner and underestimated how long it would take. Just add 15 or 30 minutes with a few clicks while seated at dinner. Tell me that isn't worth $0.25.

Useful, however.... TERRIBLE BATTERY PERFORMANCE

I used MPLSParking recently and it is improved user experience from previous versions, however after I paid for my parking spot, I noticed my phone battery was drastically dying! Like losing 5% per minute (not great when you’re out, already low battery, and need your phone)...

I know it is MPLSParking’s fault because I first closed all my other apps and saw no change. Once I closed the mpls parking app from running in background though, suddenly my phone was back to holding a charge like normal. LAME... now I can’t see the countdown or extend time because I’m at 5% battery life and not risking it!

I hope the developers see this and can figure out how to stop MPLSParking from using so much battery! Clearly something is constantly refreshing or something... The product team needs a better QA team to catch stuff like this, so the users don’t lose battery due to app performance.

This app has come a long way!

I’m amazed by how much you guys continue to update MPLSParking. Today it’s very efficient and super easy/fast to use. Tons of payment options which is very convenient (especially when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to pull out a card and manually enter all the numbers).

What’s also nice is you get a timed warning before it expires. So while you’re still at dinner or at a meeting that’s running over time, you can simply extend the parking time rather than running out to the meter in person.

One thing that would be a nice addition is to have an option to view pricing. Also maybe a notification or start up display for holidays/days where parking is free.

Continue the good work!

Mostly great

MPLSParking is a huge convenience for anyone who parks in mpls pay zones, but has a few bugs that have existed for a little too long. I’ve seen the first mentioned in other reviews - once every few days MPLSParking will crash and sign me out, which is not a huge deal, but will also forget all of my saved cars, payment information and favorited parking zones. The only fix I have found is a hard reset of the device.
MPLSParking also shows every parking zone at the same location on the map (somewhere around Washington and 3rd downtown), meaning that the “Find My Car” option always leads the user to that location. For me not a problem, but for a first time user this could be intensely frustrating.

Oy

The prior version of MPLSParking was wonderful. It was really intuitive and functional. The new version is a disaster. No. It aspires to be a disaster. I can’t get it to ID the parking spot number that starts the process. I’ve deleted MPLSParking and reloaded it, spent time on help, prayed to the parking gods and nothing happened. Don’t try to change your default vehicle. That’s expressly forbidden by MPLSParking . I’m now back to parking, finding change and fuming at the developers that couldn’t leave well enough alone, test what they did or provide just a little support for us worthless users. But, the icing on the cake is that this is the only app that the city offers. Yay Minneapolis. Yay developers. Please give me a human to help me with this. I promise not to yell no matter how much I want to.

Very stable now

Latest version is stable - great job on the latest improvements. I haven’t seen any of the sign out issues from previous versions. I’m giving it 4 stars for the utility it provides, mainly the timer and the ability to add time remotely.

Still not a fan of getting 3 separate emails from them every time I park, and the transaction fees feel exorbitant when you just need to stop somewhere for 15 minutes. Using MPLSParking is not that much faster than paying a meter, unless there’s a line at the meter.

Please fix this app

MPLSParking is great when it actually works, which lately is so seldom. The log in screen not working is a problem. Getting logged out randomly is a problem. Valid zones not showing up when entered is really a problem. Favorited zones being deleted is very annoying as well.

Too many error messages, zones not found, and login issues. When it works, it’s great, like I said. But please update and fix all this. I just really need to park my car and add time when at work without having to leave pots on the stove unattended. That’s all I ask.

So easy to use

When I pull up and park anywhere in Minneapolis, it literally takes seconds to pay for parking with MPLSParking. And the reminders that parking will expire have definitely saved me a parking ticket or two - as it’s easy to add more time without running back to the car. Ease and peace of mind. Thank you for creating MPLSParking!

Parking

Paying for parking through MPLSParking is very easy and convenient. Was running late for our reservation so I paid for parking while walking to the restaurant. Our meal took longer to eat than I had paid for so I opened MPLSParking , extended my parking time and was good to go. Overall paid parking experience made easy.

Never fumble at a meter station again

Essential app if you park a car in Minneapolis. Type in the meter number from inside your car, avoiding that dismal experience when you're stuck behind someone who can't operate the meter station. Get warnings when your meter is about to expire, extend time on the same meter. Well worth the 25¢ per use fee.

Works well when it works

MPLSParking works well when it works. That said, the new version has one of the best examples of how not to design a user interface I’ve seen in a while. Options that force more decisions than are necessary, excessive prompting, and functions that invariably have issues if the server response is not *just* right. Also, your parking history and expiration notifications may or may not work (hint, local timer/alerts guys, not server push).

Server down can’t log in

Don’t count on MPLSParking to work. Nothing worse than finding parking during the snow emergency rules, only to have an app that doesn’t work. NOTE: If you are unable to log into MPLSParking , try from the web browser on your phone. Click the help button and you’ll eventually get there.

Parking downtown

I love having the option to fill my meter via phone, rather than running outside to put more money in. I also like seeing a real time counter of how much time I have left. Very awesome app! I also live in Minneapolis and am a frequent meter parker, so MPLSParking is very necessary for a city person like me.

No Response from Support/Pymt Methods failing

I have loved MPLSParking. Used it for three years. No problems. As of Aug 15th my saved payment method don’t default in. I add in PayPal. Next day I can’t use PayPal. Only way I can pay is to delete the payment method so it can be added at the time I am parking. Very annoying! I send in a support ticket in Aug 16th. Heard nothing. No updates are available. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing. Tired of MPLSParking . Whatever was added in the latest release needs to be fixed ASAP.

It’s now been a half of a month. No fix. TERRIBLE!!! Can I give a negative rating?

Don't forget your password

It works great until you forget your password. If so, you are up the creek. I've tried everything and can't get help from the vendor at all. I can't register with a different mail account because it only allows one account per phone number. MPLSParking has some serious bugs that need to be resolved for forgot password function by text using the mobile phone number and the reset by email function. I've emailed their support address and I guess my message goes into a black zen desk hole. Customer service is an F.

Make locations findable

MPLSParking is decent. The new release is better than the old one. But you need to do ONE THING, and one thing only. Catalog the parking spots and make them findable in MPLSParking for when I get to my desk and have forgotten what spot I parked in but know it was the second one from the intersection on the east side of the street. PLEASE. Also give me the ability to find open parking spaces using MPLSParking .

Trouble Adding Payment Methods

I generally enjoy using MPLSParking but for the last 2 months or so it has become unusable for me. It prompts me to add a payment method even though I have 3 payment methods already stored. If I do try to add another method, it only allows me to add the types I don’t already have in use. They aren’t in use bc I don’t use them (Visa Pass and Master Pass).

Bc I can’t pay via MPLSParking , I can’t use MPLSParking , which makes it unusable.

No more running out to plug the meter!

MPLSParking rocks my world. No more quarters, no more searching for the pay station, and no more running to plug the meter. MPLSParking reminds you when your time is almost up; you can add time remotely. It even helps you find your car at the end of the night. Love!

Efficient!

When I was initially told about MPLSParking several years ago, I didn’t think I’d use it much. Was I wrong! It’s so easy & convenient to use & so much better to be able to set duration & pay for my car.

Works when meter machines do not

I can’t think of a reason to use MPLSParking other than staying out of pouring rain or being confronted with a parking meter pay box that refuses to work.

I arrived 30 minutes early for my clinic appointment, parked in a metered spot, and found that the pay box did not work. I watched two other customers have the same problem I did. Remembering that I could pay at any box, I tried again around the block. And again at a third, fourth, and fifth pay box. All failed in exactly the same way.

I called 311, as suggested on the outside of the box. On hold with 8 people ahead of me. I gave my report, including the pay box number, and was told I could download MPLSParking to pay. By this time, I was late for my appointment, and had to walk a couple of blocks back to my car before I could continue registration. Having done so, I got to experience the joy of paying extra to feed a meter that refused both my credit card and my coins.

Really great app

There are a lot of typical junk reviews below.

My experience couldn't be better: rolled up, entered parking spot number, entered how long I wanted to park and that was it. App sent a few useful reminders as my session was about to expire.

Happy to pay the trivial fee if $0.25 for how easy this was.
