I am so frustrated with this service that I had to express it in a review.

Gateio and service is horrible. Let me point out the many reasons …

1. KYC is a long and drawn out process with little things added as you progress. Seems like an endless maze of information input and photos.

2. You need to do the KYC on a browser, as Gateio does not have all nations in its database via Gateio , which make little sense to me. Just another means to confuse and lose customers.

3. One KYC is done, you are also given a 24 hour withdrawal ban, as to make sure no one is stealing my funds?? Idk weird.

4. After 24 hours, you then are asked to out in information for a a withdraw, but oh wait! They need your phone number, better register that in the system as well … and another 24 hour ban due to security information changes.

5. Support is very subpar, and the chat robot just put in circles and redirects you until you can finally get the option to speak to a human. Which usually just brushes you off to find the answers yourself.

Overall worst experience with a crypto trading app that I’ve ever experienced. The KYC is also very obnoxious, messy and complicated. I wish I never deposited money. Thankfully it was only a small amount. I am going to do what I need to so I can get my money back and then putting this service in my rear view mirror.

I don’t know how Gateio/service is even around.

I placed a limit order to purchase a coin when/if the price falls to x.The available amount of USDT I was using for the trade was immediately deducted from my account as usual, however the record of the trade is nowhere (it should appear in “my orders” as usual). I am not a beginner and have used many exchanges.

It’s not in “my trades”, “trade history”, just gone with no record. Clearly an issue of the mobile app not syncing with desktop. I put in a support ticket only to get a response explaining to me as if I was a beginner, how the limit order system works, when in fact what I need is an explanation as to why there is no record for my transaction yet my account was debited the amount for the transaction. When your crypto literally just disappears and support tells you the ticket is “settled”, it doesn’t give much confidence to continue trading on the platform.

Before this experience I would have recommended trying out their platform due to availability of so many coins. Issues like this are never really acceptable, but if their support was able to understand my complaint and actually look at the account, it would be less egregious. At this point this is the only crypto exchange I have used that has actually lost a transaction, can’t provide me with an answer, and at the same time won’t verify my account.

Please resolve my issue.

Pro: lots of options

Con: pretty much everything. But the one thing that made me quit this exchange is the fact that the spot trades are never quick or smooth. In several trades I have lost thousands of dollars trying to sell a crypto share, but the transaction stalls or never gets filled. In one case I was up 15k, tried frantically to sell all of my shares, but kept rebuffing me until I was eventually down 10k. I sold at a loss and only by painstakingly underselling my stock repeatedly (I mean by 10% less and like 20 times). Worst experience ever. I have extra funds, I’m not starving, but what about others using their life savings for Gods sakes. Also, never buy a crypto that is only traded by this company, I strongly suspect price manipulation.

These guys have the worst support team.. you submit a ticket and explain what the issues are ( there are many) they then email you. In my case they emailed me a month later. Explained myself clearly as if I was talking to a 6 year old (after the third email, weeks apart from each response) they still ask me the same questions and this time they took even longer to respond. The UI isn’t great, they’re slow, and it seems like they don’t have people who understand English. Gateio is only good because of the micro cap cryptos but even know as I gain more knowledge about exchanges, I’ve found far better ones. Gateio is a joke

You can find coins here early on that you cannot find it most exchanges without all the other exchanges headaches. If you follow the KYC. And the transfer instructions properly you would have no problems. And people you don’t have to transfer your coins in bitcoin use other coins to transfer for a whole lot less and you save a lot of time. Xlm!!!!!

I appreciate the OTP Auth each time I login, (this means your crypto is safer people so stop complaining about that!) On the downside, Gateio seems too bulky like KuCoin and it’s very slow, this can cause UX problems like double tapping accidentally so be patient and tap slowly, wait for interface to load. The only reason I keep Gateio is because they have alt coins no other USA exchanges have.

Worse user experience ever. Make sure you know that you need to through KYC verification before you can withdraw coin and for any security changes, your account will be freezes for a day, include KYC…..all this information is available no where in the registration process. It almost like a fraud scheme: you have your account register super quick and deposit Some coin for trade, and then before you can withdrawn anything, there is lengthy process waiting for you if you can finish it. Customer service is a joke. This exchange is definitely not ready for international customer other than the Chinese.

I have thousands locked up. I was told my account would be deleted because I am in the US. I haven’t been able to move funds for weeks. Customer service is slow to non existent. They respond without helping AT ALL. Feels like my money is being stolen. All of their authentications take too long so you never get authenticated. Texts and email codes take longer than the allotted time then it says you had too many attempts. I have crypto elsewhere, so I’m not new to this. If they can’t get this fixed I see a big law suit.

I’ve only had Gateio for a couple days but in those two days I’ve never had more fun exploring an app on my phone. Gateio is SEVERELY underrated. They even have an AI built in Gateio to help newbies trade by accumulating data from the past. Also crypto... so much crypto. All the crypto in the world is on Gateio. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

When I created this account for test I didn’t set any “fund password”. I sent some Usdt to my gate io wallet to try it out and when I try to buy or withdraw my funds it asks me for a “fund password” that does not exist. Never created and I tried all possible passwords just bc. I try to change that fund password but cannot . Try to add Google A and cannot. Waiting a reply from theirsupport. Gladly it was only a couple hundred bucks. Still despicable and won’t be using Gateio again. Good selection of coins but really messy and buggy

This is a great app but the only problem I have is your exchange speed
It takes hours before I can successfully change my usdt to another coin
Which is very bad
I end up buying much more at a higher price
Please work on your exchange speed

if you’re feeling generous and wanna give away your money to the exchange. Some coins are not up to date, so you can’t actually withdraw because when you, you’re not actually buying anything. Thankfully you can withdraw USDT except the coins you’re trying to sell won’t go anywhere near the price on other exchanges. Basically deposit $1000, you’re left with $900 if lucky. Doesn’t sound bad if you don’t value your hard earned money.. Forget about support. They don’t even have a headquarter..

Can’t get my Authenticator to work, have tried different times and different ways. Would have a better review if I could actually use the site and app. I was looking forward to the lower fees with the opportunity to trade different coins though out the scale.
If I have this much trouble getting the site to verify me, I can only imagine how difficult it is to buy, sell, and trade not to mention withdrawals.
Good luck to those interested in this site, I personally will not use this one.

Lost 2Fa (2 factor authentication via google app) when my old phone broke. Have been working on disabling through support for over 4 months now. Have sent photos and all requested items multiple times with no reply. They came up with a new portal a month or two ago for disabling 2Fa which was buggy and would not work. No access to account. No support. Just waiting for them to work bugs out. Regret using this exchange and can not wait to move my coins out.

Gate IO has lots of coins I couldn’t get anywhere else. I had a problem with my 2FA with them and google authenticator that took more than emails to get done (I went to live customer chat. Pushes your issue higher and gets a quicker email response). It was solved after I kept following up.

Gateio hasn’t been working since today. Whenever I try to open it, it refused to open in my phone. I don’t know if this only happen in my phone or it’s a general problem.
Please I need a feedback regarding this problem.

What a convoluted mess of a sign up process!

No joke, had to check email 10+ times, set/ reset/ set/ reset passwords, and much more! (I will save a few surprises.)

I have 5 crypto exchange apps on my phone, this is by far the most difficult to use and often buggy.

Every now and then there is crashes and if you don’t complete KYC won’t be able to withdraw your money but once everything is establish this is the best trading experience ever

I was excited to use Gateio because it gives access to a ton of different coins but I have messed with it for hours at this point and none of it makes any sense. It doesn’t explain anything and you can’t sell anything without trying 25 times. This is the most difficult app I have ever used for anything and I have since completely forfeited the money I had on there and deleted Gateio . Never again will I use this.

Don’t use Gateio , if you try to transfer founds it’s gonna take at least 3 days . I use Coinbase, bittrex, binance and I never had a problem withdrawing my founds after I verified my ID , this one ask you for 4 different passwords and email, sms codes just to get for a fraction of a second a text saying that the withdrawal was blocked for another 24 hrs . I’ve been trying to transfer my founds for 3 days now and every time the give me some other reason to wait …ITS JUST A BIG WASTE OF TIME

I was gonna give 1 star after updated Gateio keep crashing. Deleted then reinstalled fix crashes

You can’t view all of the coins listed on the exchange and also some of the ones you hold.

You pretty much have to uninstall and then reinstall Gateio to fix that problem.

When will this be available for the US?

Con: Seldom lost connection to the server with zero assets displayed, reconnect to recover. Pro: Lending your coins is good while commission 18% is too high

It’s easy to deposit but it’s hard to withdraw. My identity was verified and I made a deposit. When I tried to withdraw, they sent me an email that says withdraw was disabled “For My Safety” Don’t Use this website.

I deposited BTC into this exchange but I am unable to WITHDRAW IT because I live in the US and can’t pass their KYC verification process because I LIVE IN THE US!!! IF YOU LIVE IN THE US DO NOT USE Gateio!!!

App does not function properly on iPhone 7 running iOS11.2. Many errors popping up, even throws an error when tapping logout button. Needs much improvement before I’d be willing to trust making monetary transactions on it.
