Happy happy user

I’ve used Noteshelf2 for the last 5 years nearly everyday. I take meeting notes in it, review pdf files in it, download sheet music into it and practice with it nearly everyday and make presentations from it on a daily/weekly basis. Here’s what I love about it. 1. I love the way it turns pages. It may seem like a minor thing, but for presentations it’s great to be able to flip a page and go to the next point. 2. I love the way I can create handouts in it. When I teach, my diagrams and flow charts are a hit with adults and students alike. 3. I love moving jpegs in and manipulating them. This allows me to create PowerPoint slides, move them into Noteshelf and add my presentation notes to each one. 4. I also like it’s improved search and filing system. I can find what I need. 5. I also love it’s free planner and free paper/notebook options. 6. There is a very low learning curve.

Here’s what I wish it had….1. The ability to fill a shape with color. 2. A better calligraphy writing tool. In the old version, my printing took on a more flowing style. In fact that’s what drew me to Noteshelf2 in the first place. It made even my printing/writing look nice. I wish that remained the same. But those are minor compared to the other pluses.

Better than I imagined!

Updated March 5, 2022: Love the latest updates. No longer necessary to individually adjust automatic line straightener. Couldn’t imagine it would get any better… but IT DID!
I have been a Noteshelf user ever since iPad mini 2. I LOVE the product and use it for EVERYTHING! When Noteshelf 2 was first released, I tried it out, but found my note-taking style better suited the original Noteshelf 1 design, so I continued with the previous version. Since NS1 is no longer available from Noteshelf2 Store, switching devices became an issue. So I ended up upgrading to NS2... AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I don't remember why I originally hesitated to make the move when it was first released, but have found that NS2 meets ALL my needs. The transition was absolutely painless and now I even PREFER the cleaner UI in NS2. Notes exported to PDF come out BEAUTIFUL and are still editable afterward on Adobe Acrobat! All my previous notes migrated seamlessly and during the change-over the Fluid Touch support team responded to each of my questions clearly and concisely within a day. The only issue I have run into is not being able to retain the order I drag notes to when arranging grouped notes by the Custom tab. I HIGHLY recommend this 5-star app!

Noteshelf is really great, just one thing keeps me using Goodnotes

Writing on Noteshelf is simply a pleasure, it is so smooth, the virtual pencil options are very elegant and well designed, it even seems my handwriting becomes (barely) legible. Evernote integration is very handy, much easier than exporting each note (though it could be much easier if you could set it to sync all new notes by default...), it was what made me buy it.

There is one small detail that makes me continue using Goodnotes: the paid Mac app, which costs $9 (while Goodnotes offers it for free for its iPadOS paid users). Given the limited function a Mac handwriting app has (how many of us have a tablet, my older Mac won’t even run Sidecar), it seems really foolish to pay extra just to be able to see and export my notes from an app I already paid for. Change this and I will become an active user and an advocate...

It keeps getting better!!!

I wrote the second part of this review a bit ago. I love it even more! They keep getting better! Now I can strike through without losing what’s underneath.

Let me tell you about the support team. I have emailed them a couple of times and they get back within 24 hours. Pallavi has been most helpful and kind. If you’re looking for a fantastic note taking app with exceptional support you can do no better

I bought Noteshelf2 a little better than a year ago and loved it then. Now, after a few updates, it is even better!! While taking notes I can add a hyperlink to a webpage with more information. I can create my own pages and insert them into notebooks and make them mine. But to be honest this isn’t even the best part. The support is amazing. I didn't know how to hyperlink so asked the question on the fluid touch site and was quickly answered. I asked if I could add video like I add pictures. No, but we will work on that. I have asked a couple questions after my first one to the same email and she always responds. Her name is Pallavi and she is just wonderful. I usually get an answer in a day or two. Noteshelf2 is amazing and keeps getting better.

Incredible Tool for Professionals!

I’ve never written a review for an app on Noteshelf2 Store, but this one merits the time. As a professional (federal prosecutor), I had long been looking for a flexible and adaptable note-taking application for the iPad. I love the fact that it is easy to create your own notebook covers and note pages. I’ve been able to create note pages similar to Cornell notes that are modified to suit my needs as well as to do lists that exactly suit my requirements. I’ve also created color coded covers that I use to help organize cases. In addition, I love the fact that you can enter data in a number of ways—typing, writing (works great with an Apple Pencil!). You can import .pdf, audio, photo, and other files. Finally, unlike many other apps, the developers seem to care about their product. Updates and added features occur with an amazing regularity. I highly recommend this product. Carrying an iPad with the Noteshelf app installed is far easier, making you more productive and more organized than carrying a bunch of references and notepads around. Noteshelf is one of the few apps that I have found where you get far more than what you have paid for.

It WAS good (read till the end)

After last update, Noteshelf2 expects more interaction with the pdf file itself where I’m writing on (highlighting and selecting a document portion) instead of allowing me to write on it. Since I have the habit of writing everything by hand, this is sooooooo annoying because whenever I try to write, Noteshelf2 starts to select the portion of the pdf template. I have two different suggestions to correct this issue. First, you could allow me to toggle this feature on or off. Second, you could set a time a little longer for Noteshelf2 try to highlight or select something in my pdf template. I have been using Noteshelf2 more than 5 years. I contacted the support and they said me they will try to address my request only after more people mentioned the same problem. I can’t wait so long. I’ve downloaded other apps and started some tests to change all my notes to another place.

Oct 13th update: The developer answered my review, and YES, the issue that I mentioned is gone! Noteshelf2 is perfect. Thank God I didn’t have time to move to another app yet. Noteshelf is the best! Changing my review to 5 stars.

The Best

I have used Noteshelf since 2012, beginning with Noteshelf 1, which is when I effectively abandoned physical notebooks. I thoroughly discontinued use of note paper with the advent of Noteshelf for the iPhone. This is, unequivocally, my “go to” note taking app. I have been a walking advertisement for Noteshelf, as I am continually asked “What app is that?” I recommend Noteshelf to anyone who asks! Even for each of my grandchildren, from whom I have computer drawn artwork, some from as young as 18 months.

The Noteshelf capability is so multi-faceted and complete. They leave very little to the imagination. If you find a feature that you’d like to have added, just send an email requesting it. I’ve done this for several years. I send requests for features I encounter in other note taking apps. I describe the feature and provide Noteshelf2 name, so the Noteshelf developers can experience exactly what I want. I’m telling you, over the years, I have seen them add every feature that I’ve requested. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one requesting, but it’s certainly wonderful to feel as if you’ve been heard.

If asked, I would describe myself as a “come-back-every-time” loyal Noteshelf customer. I continue to try new note taking apps just to see what new features are on the market. Each time, I find myself coming back to Noteshelf within the free trial period of the new app.

In my experience, Noteshelf cannot be beat! Try it! You’ll love it!

Great app - Couple Suggestions

I tried many different apps for all the right features I needed. The most important features I needed; was good text recognition, convert handwriting to text and be able to export my hand writing/drawings to a transparent png. I find Noteshelf a better app than good notes. They are similar apps, but Noteshelf allows you to record audio and I love the floating favorites toolbar. However, I do have a few suggestions; 1) if I drag any object on a page I cannot drag it onto another page. It clips off the only way to get around this is to cut and paste onto another page. 2)A feature that allows me to convert the entire document from hand writing to a TXT file so I don’t have to do all my handwriting on individual objects; that’s just more time consuming.

My entire family’s MOST USED app

As a home educating family Noteshelf2 is a work horse. It serves as my ever-present white board, it hosts my planner, I create worksheets on it. I am also an author and use Noteshelf2 for my outlines and word sketching to clarify my thoughts before turning to my word processor. We use Noteshelf2 for filling out PDF and signing documents. My kids use Noteshelf for art, coloring, note taking, learning to write, creating music sheets as they convert songs to tab, etc. As a family we love all kind of games and we keep a copy of the score sheets in a notebook for score keeping. Noteshelf2 is used for HOURS every day.

The developers are also very responsive. They are very involved with and continue to invest in their product making it better and better. They do a great job!

New Version - One Positive—One Fixed

There seem to be a couple changes made on the recent upgrade. The positive: you can now add a new page by scrolling vertically down the page. The negative: the “shapes” option (where you can add a square, rectangle, etc.) has suddenly become super sensitive. It used to be easy to quickly create a square or rectangle. You didn’t need to be super precise. But now it is very difficult to create either. You have to draw an almost perfect square or rectangle for it to create one. What you get instead is odd quadrilaterals that follow the exact lines you drew almost exactly. It makes it unusable.

Update: They fixed the problem with the “shapes” option I described above. Thank you!

This app could steal me forever from goodnotes if it weren’t for these flaws

Unfortunately I cannot give Noteshelf2 4-5 stars. I really like Noteshelf2 and I enjoy the fusion of features seen in Notability and GoodNotes. I especially appreciate the ability to change appearance of the interface. My writing looks very good and I appreciate the versatility of ink types. I am a premed student and I use Goodnotes for literally EVERYTHING. So that brings me to the issue. Noteshelf2 is more expensive than goodnotes but it crashes and is laggy, especially while using the lasso tool. Noteshelf2 could seriously pull me away from goodnotes if they really nail at least a streamlined experience. Goodnotes crashes sometimes but not nearly as much as Noteshelf has since i bought it yesterday.

Awesome app

I have been using Noteshelf2 since it first came out. I love it! It is always getting better. Its easy to use and I love the pen options. Its easy to make favorite colors and styles and save them for future use. Having access to my notes on my iPad and my phone is great! I always recommend it to others. I’m always surprised when GoodNotes and noteability get all the hype and noteshelf is not mentioned. I just got GoodNotes as well just to try it out and really Noteshelf does a great job and is so easy to use. Plus there are so many templates available as well as cover designs. I like that I can have more than three pens favorited and enjoy the “pencil” option when drawing things. Overall it’s a great app!

Bring back the small writing feature. Split screen section work.

I lost the split screen feature for writing only on a small section of a page as I write and draw with my iPencil.

After spending an hour playing with the updated app. I was able to figure out that I could expand a section of the page so as to write on that section and when the page was whole again I could see everything again with all my small writing not wasting a whole page for a few lines.

I wish when major features are changed that their was an email or an extended notification of how to still achieve features used in a different way.

I finally found my app!

Hands down, Noteshelf is the most amazing digital note taking app. I’ve been searching multiple apps to find my ‘perfect’ note taking app for school for a long time now. I kept seeing amazing reviews on Noteshelf and I just had to try it myself. At first stroke of my first note, I fell in love. I love how we have a pressure sensitivity option. That made my writing so much neater. The tools that can be used is just astounding as well. I love how we can also download other templates for other things such as finances and project plannings. Trust me, if you’re someone who puts a lot of pressure while writing on your Apple Pencil, Noteshelf2 is for you. I love it! :)

It’s 2022 and you still cannot do curve

It’s already 2022 and you still cannot do curves! The first time I see “hold and into shape” function I was really excited. After 3 years finally some really update. But nope. You draw a curve, you hold it and boom, two straight lines. The same as the stupid shape tool. It has been a pain drawing logarithmic curves by hand and you haven’t improve the poor shape tool at all in a whole three year period! You know your shape tool is a crap, right? Take a look at notability, the hold and shape function even give me the dots which I can change the shape of the curve myself if the automated shape is not good enough. But in Noteshelf: “two straight lines connected together is the best I can give you”
The only reason I keep Noteshelf2 is because of the pen style, but now I probably moving to goodnotes or notability, at least they have proper tools for taking notes:(

Great note app for business notes

Has all the features I needed to eliminate my beloved paper notebooks completely. Has a couple of levels of organization - categories and then notebooks within categories - which is perfect. Very good tools for sharing pages, moving pages and snippets to different notebooks, etc. The writing tools are excellent - everything you need for business notes.

A few minor complaints - e.g., page navigation requires a swipe unless you open the page listing. Would prefer an onscreen button for page navigation, but that’s a very minor thing, and a personal preference.

All in all, I highly recommend Noteshelf. And you can’t go wrong for the price.

I just have one request

I really like Noteshelf2! They take feedback well and make good changes. When I was an Evernote user I loved things updating into my Evernote. Also I like the inking and text (which is way better than GoodNotes text). My one request is to be able to auto backup my notes as PDFs (plus or minus recordings). Several of the other apps support this and it makes me feel better that I can still read (even if I can’t edit) my important notes even if Noteshelf2 stops being developed, and view them now on my windows machines. That’s the one thing holding me back from committing.

Great writing feel and features

I have tried many different apps trying to satisfy my need for pen/paper feel with all the technological benefits. Noteshelf2 works wonderfully. I appreciate that you can search in Noteshelf2 and that it integrates with Evernote program. Also, the paper pack with the smart hyperlinks on the journal dates is awesome for note taking. Noteshelf2 has a great feature rich picture database to add customization to your notes. Plus it has a voice recording feature to record meetings and such. It would be nice if it matched the voice to the writing, but I haven’t found it that much of a burden.

All my notes in one place

I have been using Note Shelf for several years and have found it very convenient for me. I especially use it for all my work notes. I prepare for meetings by writing up my notes before a meeting then I can easily reference my thoughts during the meeting.
I also use it for my church notes of things that God has given me and use to encourage others.
I have also been using it for design of wood working projects even though this is not a design app. I keep a daily journal as well.
It’s been a great way to keep all my thoughts and ideas in one place.

Disappointed Sad Goodbye 💔

I loved NS. I always used to consider it superior to GoodNotes because it was clean, simple, easy to use. I also knew it was underrated but the best app. My entire work, courses, business, finances, and life revolved around it. I am entirely digital - to my demise. Even when it become glitchy this year, I forgave the little frustrations. After all, my everything was on NS. It was my fault for not heeding these warning signs. But I cannot recover from having all my precious notes disappear for no reason. I tried but so many valuable notes are a bigger loss than I thought. I placed too much trust in NS. Sadly, I am migrating to GoodNotes and other platforms. I don’t expect it to be better than NS but maybe they are more stable. Thanks for the comms and support from Pallavi. You guys are really the best and you try but NS is ruined for me. 💔

Amazing handwriting recognition

I write a lot, it’s my main purpose for my iPad. I started out using Nebo but had a ton of problems, mainly with handwriting recognition. I got Noteshelf2 recommended to me and it’s wonderful. My handwriting on the iPad is way worse that on actual paper. It’s so smooth and I have difficulty breaking up words. Noteshelf2 from what I’ve seen so far as no problems when converting my writing to text, it’s a dream. I don’t have to convert it to text, slap it in Word, and edit it again. I can just edit everything in here and it’ll be good to go.

There are two features I wish it had. First the ability to automatically switch back to the pen after you’ve lifted your pencil while using the eraser. Because of my horrid hand writing I’m using the eraser a lot and it’s a little annoying to constantly have to switch back and forth. Second, I wish you could change the page layout to scroll as opposed to flip. Scrolling to allow the bottom of the page to be the top of the page would be fantastic. I find writing on the last couple of lines to be difficult, but that’s also another personal problem.

All in all this is my new writing/note taking app. I’ve purchased A LOT of the ones available and I’ve never been truly satisfied till I ran across this one. I love it so far.

Hiccups when trying to edit pictures or when using the lasso tool

I really love Noteshelf2. It is simple and classy and i love the pencil and chisel pen tools. I wish they would allow cutting and pasting of pictures or handwriting or text boxes to be moved to another page or notebook. I wish they had GoodNotes ability to take a screen shot. There’s a delay when pressing on the ipad to select a picture and i wish they had the option for lasso to select handwriting or text or high lighter. I actually just wish they had those two features from goodnotes and stop lagging when switching between tools and pens. If Noteshelf2 worked flawlessly with the Apple Pencil like notability does, this would be worth a $30 app in My opinion.
Another thing that hugely bothers me is that every single note book requires you to edit preferences like auto back up and fonts and such,.,. It is so annoying that it cant just be like every other note app and just auto back up everything! I love the custom fonts they have too,,,. I just end up writing what i need on there then exporting it to goodnotes or notability to finish the rest. I wish it had the ability to resize pictures in a more customizable way too. Instead of a fixed shape. I do love their crop tool tho.. I’m just so torn and really hope they can do more to improve Noteshelf2 because I really do love it but the lagging and glitches are just... not worth the time sometimes ...

Love, but looking for improvements

I love Noteshelf2. It has everything I need for school, and I don’t use paper notebooks anymore. Some suggestions I have for future updates: it would be nice to be able to select an area to move it to another location on the paper. It would also be nice when typing if there was an option for it to continue automatically to the next page like a word document. The ability to create chapters in a notebook would be beneficial. And finally, the ability to edit the names of tags would be helpful. One issue I have is that when I change the size of the paper of a document I have imported to Noteshelf, it wipes out the information already on the page. It would be nice to be able to increase the size of a page without getting rid of the typing (I experience this when trying to increase the size of a page from a PowerPoint document in order to make notes on it). Regardless, I use Noteshelf2 every day and it works very well. I am looking forward to new features being added soon! Noteshelf2 works very well with Dropbox which makes turning in documents online or printing very easy. I highly recommend Noteshelf2 to any college student!

Almost There

There’s many uses for Noteshelf2 and so far it is the best for my needs. I use it for journaling and has many functions that allows me to create beautiful pages with lettering, backgrounds, and photos but more would be great. Some of old Noteshelf functions are not available in this app so I can’t fully transfer to this app. I’m hoping that these will be included in the future so I can have everything in one place. Waiting for fasten/stretch so I can tweak inserts to fit unusual rectangular areas even though this may distort original proportions (don’t include in edit but as pick from delete/edit on page so insert changes can be made on the page), scrapbook/cream colored/rice paper pages (used for journaling), page/book lock when activated should remove functions not available (hard to know at quick glance if book is locked) and this button should be moved on the bar away from pen/pencil/annotate buttons. It would be great to have a 2-page view, especially on 12” iPADs.
Keep Noteshelf2 up and running; I hate having an app discontinued.

All day every day

I have been using Noteshelf 2 with my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I use it to take notes - perfectly duplicates the experience of pen and legal pad. I do that with screen mirroring and Apple TV as a simple way of allowing clients to watch the note-taking, improving their comprehension - I can diagram freehand on the fly, too, as they watch, and they love it. I also use Notepad 2 and Apple Pencil to hand write notes, planning my day, planning my week, reflecting afterwards on what went well and how to build on those accomplishments. All the experts concur that HANDWRITTEN NOTES are better then typing notes - stays in the brain better. But Notepad 2 is better than legal pad, because I can erase, move selected parts around on the “page,” even reduce the size of selected notes to make “just a little extra room” on the page. My workflow has me immediately saving all client notes as PDFs to my desktop for long term storage and reference, minimizing what is on kept my iPad.

I cannot imagine working without Noteshelf, iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.

Good beginning

I am the same as some of the other reviewers. I own a few of the note taking apps, I loved the ink flow of Noteshelf and I bought this based on the first experience. I love the more modern and updated interface, shapes more accessible and in general a good layout. I teach with Noteshelf2 sometimes, sometimes Good Notes I would love to use Noteshelf2 but it needs more. The favorites are fantastic, thanks for the addition. I would like to see a continuous pen line thickness selector as opposed to the given dots. Also, the colors. Use a color wheel where with one click I can change colors. And for the big one, could you add dotted and dashed lines? 5 stars for that!

Once hooked to the overhead projector, ink flow is much slower. This probably needs just a little tweak.

Tabs would be nice like in Good Notes. And sometimes I would love to keep the front pages as covers in my imports. That is all. This is a great beginning, I am really looking forward to seeing Noteshelf2 evolve, keep it coming, you are on the right track, we love it!

THE best notebook app for me

I’ve literally purchased every pro edition of available iPad notebook apps in the iTunes Store and Noteshelf is the ONLY one whose pen flow I like and matches my real handwriting. No other note-writing app feels as natural. All the other functions are there too: being able to pick the paper type, being able to add in images, a wide range of pen colors, etc. I admittedly don’t need anything fancy or complicated, since my notes are just for med school, so I only need the handwriting feature (Apple Pencil), the type feature, the insert image feature, various pen/highlight color options, and a way to separate and organize the notebooks. If it wasn’t for the fact that I wasted money on all those other note-taking apps, I’d just delete them all and only keep Noteshelf and Noteshelf 2, but the miser in me will find a use for those apps eventually... At least, that’s what I keep telling myself! Great job to the developers! I’ll never get over how much I love the pen flow!!! Thanks for making such a great app!!!

Best Note App I’ve Ever Used!!! 2+years with this dev’s Noteshelf app line

I rarely review apps but I have to do it for this one. This is by far the most intuitive and customizable Digital note-taking app I’ve ever used. Soooo many options from templates (both dev provided plus the ability to import your own files as templates), the ability to edit your own writing, text editing, and audio recording. And I’m sure I haven’t explored all the features. I love the backup system. Create a note on one iPad and almost immediately the changes are reflected on my other iPad. I rarely use paper anymore. Probably late, but just discovered that I’m able to search within a note for hand written words and the search yields the pages with those words. That was the final straw (in a good way) that made me decide to write this. Keep up the good work guys. Much respect. You’re very good at what you do. :-)

(If possible I would love to see the ability to categorize my custom templates as I use this feature all the time)

Great Note-Taking App!

I have been using Noteshelf2 for over a year and am very pleased with it! It has a good selection of templates to choose. It is very intuitive to use. The handwriting recognition with the Apple Pencil is its best feature. My handwriting is not too great, but it converts it to text extremely accurately!
The only knocks I have are minor irritations. For some reason, the synch to Evernote is a lot slower than I like. I haven’t figured out what the trigger is for it to synch, but it clearly is not real-time after I quit writing.
I also wish I could split the screen and open documents in two different notebooks at once. That would be a great feature to add! Many times I want to refer back to a note in another notebook, but I have to close the note I am working on to get to it. I have tried opening it in Evernote, but sometimes Evernote hasn’t synched yet, so I have no choice but to close my note and open the other, then close it and reopen the original.

Feature Packed and Good Interface

I have downloaded every major note taking app for my iPad. None of them, including this one, is perfect. But this has all the features I really need, so the fewest number of compromises.

There are two bigger named apps in this category, and this is a good blend of the two feature sets. One of these other two apps lacks the ability to password protect or automatically back up, doesn’t record audio, and has a busier user interface. The other has a sad variety of paper templates, which you can’t mix and match within the same notebook.

Noteshelf has a clean interface, password protection, great handwriting recognition, built-in audio recording, the ability to mix and match templates within a single notebook, and is just very intuitive and reliable. I like the appearance of my text slightly better with the other two, but as I said, none of these apps is perfect. I want one app for all my note taking, so I’m sticking with Noteshelf and abandoning the others.

Great app! Missing a couple of essentials for me to be perfect

Love the handwriting experience, the simplistic look and feel. Two things that would make it so much better, 1) continuous vertical scrolling, as writing at the bottom of page can be quite tedious, plus when writing on either corner it can easily change pages and is very annoying when taking notes in class. 2) major thing, a better zoomed in experience. There seems to be very limited zooming i can do before I’m not able to zoom anymore and the pen gets distorted. Perhaps smaller pen sizes too for that. As a student is essential to have the most space possible and the ups of digital note taking is taking advantage of every little bit of space. I saw them mention that they were working on things like this but some of those mentions are from over a year ago. Hopefully they are coming soon. Thanks

Noteshelf keeps getting better and better

Having tried Apple Notes, Notability, and Goodnotes, I am glad I settled upon Noteshelf 2. What Noteshelf does well compared to the other writing apps I mentioned is that it works pleasantly well for left-handed writing and page organization. The former reason is definitely the biggest reason why I picked this writing app, because all the other ones registered my palm (despite palm rejection being enabled) as a touch input and the double-tap to toggle eraser/pen didn’t work all the time.

Previously Noteshelf didn’t pick up the double taps and I felt so frustrated that my Apple Pencil (2nd gen) wasn’t working whenever I need it to. But I am happy to say they fixed that issue and it blows me away that the developers continue to innovate on Noteshelf2 for the better. Well done Noteshelf!

One suggestion they should consider is making the strokes look higher-res. It seems blurry compared to the strokes I make on Apple Notes.

I've tried them all, this one is the most perfect

I own all of the Usual suspects, In the end this is the most perfect of the lot for me. As an digital notebook to write hand-written notes it has a decent selection of highlighters and practical writing Implements. The most pefect pencil (my chosen implement). my handwriting looks true & legible & very human. Exactly how I like it.

A few things can be improved. like the option to not print the page color for those unfortunate & Unavoidable times when you must print. An in-app ability to access my files at my cloud service of choice & select and Import my lmage or PDF file, rather than having to depend On the iOS file manager (Though, admittedly it has been a godsend).

Im otherwise very happy with Noteshelf2. It does all I need & for features that might be thought absent, if not the ones I mentioned, I dont notice their absence because it is likely beyond the scope of general note taking I use Noteshelf2 to for.

Handwriting recognition — yay!

I have been using Noteshelf for several years now. I started with the original and upgraded to Noteshelf 2. I really liked the original version and at first I was a little disappointed that I invested more money for almost the same app. With the original Noteshelf, one of the things I liked about the developer was their attentiveness to suggestions for updates and then actually doing the updates on a regular basis so I thought they would do the same with Noteshelf 2. As expected that was the case. This last update is the one that made me say, WOW, now it’s a 5-star product. In my opinion, handwriting recognition was the only thing it was lacking. Its accuracy is impressive as I can have pretty messy handwriting. I’ve tried lots of handwriting recognition apps. I found a few I liked, many I did not; and what I really wanted was a handwriting recognition tool in Noleshelf. Well done and thank you!

Nice note taking app good for its purpose

I have looked around for a while before deciding on Noteshelf2, and I chose it because it is closest to the real note taking experience. The workflow is streamlined and the interface is uncluttered. Although I like Noteshelf2 so much, I’m withholding one star from the rating because I have a wishlist:

1. [version 3.0 supports] An OCR capability would be nice. Some other note taking apps support this to make notes searchable.

2. [version 1.5 fixed] TouchID/FaceID to unlock protected notebook please. Punching in password every time is a hassle.

3. Pencil tool looks too artificial. It’s too faint and doesn’t look much like real pencil.

4. [version 1.5 fixed] Apple Pencil writing speed has delay. This degrades the writing experience and makes it feel artificial. For comparison, I don’t see delays when using Apple Pencil in Sketches Pro. Please optimize to minimize the delay.

5. Before purchasing Noteshelf2, I have used Sketches Pro extensively, even for note taking because it has minimal Apple Pencil delay and has many different writing/drawing tools. I got Noteshelf2 because Sketches Pro is not meant for note taking thus lacked capability to organize by multipage notebooks. Sketches Pro has many different good writing/drawing tools and does a good job with real looking effects. It would be great if Noteshelf has similar tools.

I will keep updating this feedback as Noteshelf2 evolves.
