Update: I downloaded the recent update. No change. The issue I believe, is that Hanover will NOT work while using a VPN. Ridiculous! Please address this! This is a MOBILE app -meaning it’s used on public WiFi. A mobile app must work with a VPN or it’s useless to me and will be deleted. Even my banking apps work with a VPN.
I haven’t been able to login to Hanover for months and months. It stopped using Touch ID and now I have to type the pw in every time. But it never gets past that screen and always gives the service unavailable error after spinning for several minutes. Hellooooo? Anyone at this app around?
Every attempt I made to login to Hanover is followed by the message, “SERVICE UNAVAILABLE, This service is temporarily unavailable, Please try again later”.
What’s the point in having an App if you can’t actually use it?!?! Find it extremely frustrating and unacceptable that an insurance company of this size can have such an unreliable way to have its customers utilize their accounts!
Needs to be fixed!
I downloaded Hanover and set up a user name and password but it never let me in. It said it sent an e mail but I never received one. Frustrating. It puts you in a place that freezes any further action.
I’m still waiting for a claim that was put into this app last year in November 2022 I have called twice and have never got a call back and I still have not gotten a check for 2000+ dollars for the last claim I put I would like to be contacted by somebody there so we can clear this up so I don’t need to get a lawyer
Can log into my account on a laptop browser, but not on iPhone 12 with Hanover. Not on iPad, with Hanover. Calling tech support a waste of time. Was told to reboot devices. Someone gets paid to provide that type of support? App always has trouble loading my account. Seems to be an old, and common, issue with Hanover.
I’m afraid if this is how this app/Citizens develops the tech aspect of the business this can’t bode well for the customers. Has anyone from Quality Control ever used this application? It locks up almost immediately, you can’t stop the spinning or even go back to previous screen ! Only option to delete app and reinstall, it’s pathetic. WAKE UP this app and hire someone who can fix this mess .
Hanover never gets it right. I almost never can get into my account without getting a notification that services are currently shut down. By this time, you would think insurance companies got an app figured out. I love my policy. But goodness. Hanover to look up info and check documents…It’s hard to think of any other app less helpful.
App always says there is a temporary technical problem fetching your policy... problem is it’s not temporary it’s permanent... I haven’t been able to view my policy or even click on the contact us button since I’ve had Hanover for about 2 weeks now... Hanover needs to be taken down and taken back to the drawing board . It needs a lot of work ... only giving one star because it won’t allow me to post my review without rating with at least one star
I signed in OK today, so I guess Hanover is currently working. To review the list of policy changes, it’s listed in reverse chronological order, by category. So you have to scroll to the bottom of each text category to find your latest docs. I can’t change my coverage- you have to call them during business hours. If you want to contact them for anything you have to call them during business hours, no chat nor messaging available.
Bad app, it worked normally for the first year, once I changed my policy now everything in Hanover states there is a technical error. There is a contact us button for tech issues but I can’t click it due to the above error. You go to the website and there is nowhere to report an issue with just Hanover . Might as well just uninstall and use the web app. It’s been like this for about 3 months, I assumed it would fix itself but I was wrong.
The functionality of Hanover is horrible. Never wants to load when open. The insurance card listed only has the first person listed on the account not all that are covered. Need to get these issues fixed ASAP!
Hanover is ridiculous in that it only loads half the time … wasting my time and putting me in a difficult position if I need the info stored on it quickly.
I’ve even been on the phone with customer service and asked for information to be emailed only to find it on Hanover that I couldn’t open later.
Also, when they did email a copy of my declaration page they sent in a pdf that I wasn’t able to open on my iPhone ( not an ancient model either )
Often doesn’t load when I try to open it requiring me to close out and reload multiple times.
Hanover is easy to navigate but few things wrong. Hanover overlaps the iPhone X display. Also when you look at your insurance card, I have multiple names and cars on the insurance when I click on any car, it just shows the first persons name. That should get fixed, should have each car registered to the actual driver. Or at least all names.
Hanover as a whole is great. However, it has way too many glitches. The Face ID does not work when trying to log in even though the toggle option is there. Once you manually log in the page buffers for way to long only to say there was an error try again later. Then after 3 attempts to get in it finally lets you in.
Touch ID doesn’t work. Always gives the error of “invalid username or password”.
Nice app. Very impressive font selection. Easy on eyes. I can view all my policy details, pay bills, all related contact info for this app, agents. Good information for roadside assistance too.
But Hanover currently lacking Claims though. Hope this app will add this in future.
Hanover lets you view documents, ID cards, billing, claims, etc. Overall I’m glad to have Hanover easily accessible from my pocket.

Was able to pay bill and view policy details. Exactly what I need it to do. Very intuitive.
