Too Many Taps

Poor user interface. Way too many taps to achieve the same thing each and everyday. Very cumbersome! Only a little more convenient than stuffing dollars into those lousy machines.

As a side note: Metro buses and trains are often a mess. The Tap card readers frequently don’t work and too many unscrupulous individuals ride for free on my dime: bums, the mentally ill, gangsters and thoughtless, disrespectful students. They all, more often than not, ride for free, subsidized by me. They place their filthy feet on seating, they play their phones out loud, they smoke weed and drink booze, they take two and three seats each with their garbage and they often act in a generally obnoxious fashion, all with impunity. I have not seen a sheriff or metro officer checking for violators and violations in well over a year.

So thanks a bundle, metro. In typical government fashion you punish responsibility and reward bad actors.

Incredibly glitchy

I can’t think of an app that is more frequently glitchy. I use this to park about 20 times a month. I would say that on average it does not allow me to pay five or six times per time I park before it works. That means I have to attempt 100 transactions per month to park just 20 times. The worst part is the only option other than just persevering through the terrible tech is to accept a ticket. I likely pay $120 per month in undeserved tickets. I think this is intentional on behalf of Metro as an unethical means to collect revenue. Literally the worst app I have ever used.

Stupid lame requirements!

Metrolink was running late so took the gold line. Tried to pay for parking, asks me for tap card. Metrolink passes are accepted at metro so should be fine right? WRONG! I’m unable to bypass stupid tap card requirement, so I buy a tap card with 1 trip on it, maybe that will go towards my parking? NOPE! Won’t accept my tap card because i haven’t tapped it. OF COURSE I HAVENT I HAVE METROLINK!!!!!!! So now I get to my destination tap my card, waste the money on it, and now it let me pay for parking. Total cost for this stupid mess? Frustration, 2.75 for tap card and 1 trip, and 3.15 for parking. This is ridiculous. I wish I could give it less stars.

Useless when Maps Don’t Load

The Find Parking feature in the menu is broken. It’s supposed to help you locate Parking so you can ride the Metro. Apparently it uses Google Maps (logo in bottom left corner) but nothing loads, NO MAP. Only an icon showing your current location and a few numbered dots representing parking areas appear on a gray background. Pretty useless if you want to encourage people to use Park And Ride and the Metro.

ZERO STARS !

Repost from 3 years ago and nothing changed

PARKING AND METRO SHOULD BE COMBINED TOGETHER !!!

BUT OF COURSE IS NOT SO THEY CAN GET YOU IF YOU FORGET TO PAY FOR PARKING EVEN YOU DONE IT FOR A YEAR

THANK YOU METRO YOU ARE THE WORST

Unreliable

LAMetroParking fails to work about half the time for me. It will say there’s an an issue connecting to LA Metro when entering my TAP card number and it’s probably my internet connectivity. This isn’t the problem as usually I restart the phone and it works. There’s been times when LA Metro’s system is just down and they say to pay at the kiosk. I’m trying to catch the train here, just make LAMetroParking work reliably.

Works as expected but with major UX flaw

LAMetroParking works great, the features are very well implemented. However, the UX team must have not used LAMetroParking themselves, or there's no UX person at all. Most people has same routine everyday, and it takes 8 taps to repeat the same routine. Most people park at same location with same vehicle, pay with same card everyday, some kind of preset routine feature can be extremely helpful.

Needs UX improvement

Overall a simple and functional app. My recommendations:
- should have two functions Pay and Settings
- settings: patrons can set up cars, payment methods, credit card, tap card etc etc. go fancy and have different payment profiles for diff methods
- settings: I fat finger a license plate, now I can’t even delete it. All these should be manageable.
- pay: should be a simple one screen with zone, car plate, pay profile as default. Each field is selectable to be modified. Current flow is inefficient that we have to tap through all the choices again ( 99.9% is the same info every day).
- nice to have: if I pay multi day, have an option to cancel for early exit. Use case scenario: I pay 3 days since I work every day. But something comes up I need to stay home within those 3 days, would be nice to cancel 3 day and just be charged with days used.

Like it

Quick and easy. However don't appreciate the 15 cent "convenience fee" on top of $3.00/day to park which is steep considering DelMar station charges 2.00/day to park if you have your tap card.

Also when signing up for LAMetroParking the fact that you needed a zone # was not readily evident so I had no idea what it was and there was no assistance from LAMetroParking so I had to put my application on hold until later in the day when I could determine what the zone # was.

Otherwise LAMetroParking works very well.

Need to add new session options

There is no option to end a session so I can start a new one, and now the extend session option no longer works. So I have to wait for the prior day's session to end before I can pay for a new one, and then I end up forgetting. I'm paying a $0.15 convenience fee, and it's not all that convenient.

Saves time

I recently started using the Metro app when the machines in the garage repeatedly failed to read my credit card and take my dollars. I found LAMetroParking easy to access and so far it’s reliable. Most of all it saves me time when I’m rushing, which is almost everyday. I can hop on train, sit down and then pay my parking fee with this trusty app at my finger tips.

Quick & easy

I remember when I paid for the first time it only took a few minutes. I use LAMetroParking every work day & haven’t run into issues yet. 👌🏽

Convenient!

Saves your settings and very easy to use in a hurry, such as when you are on the train and just remembered you did not pay for parking yet.

Solid parking payment app

Once you’ve registered your tap card, vehicle and card for payment it’s a breeze. I like that it notifies you with a honk horn that your time is almost expired and the fact that they’ve eliminated the convenience fee (only 15 cents but still) it’s all the better.

Easy

The fact that it remembers your tap card and card info is the best part because when I’m late running for the bus I don’t have to stop to retype it in just a wonderful amazing great useful use of technology making our lives easier

Insult to Injury

Adding another .15 on top of a seemingly unjustified new parking fee speaks to the bad timing that is routinely the hallmark of poor management. At least tell those of us who have no choice but to pay your new fee how it will benefit us; all we perceive is how it will benefit Metro. Vague promises of improvement to unapparent “problems” doesn’t wash.

Parking app should be linked to tap card...and have a qr for the tap card

The parking app should be linked to the tap card so that parking fees come out of the tap card. Also, LAMetroParking should have a qr or scanning function so you can scan to tap instead of pulling out the card every time...

Essential for LA

Easy to use. Great rates. Wish LAMetroParking had been updated to support displays with Face ID, but that doesn’t get in the way of its functionality, which I’ve never had a problem with. Hope more people ride Metro so we can have more subway extensions!

Takes less than a minute

No really! If only the rest of the city services did the same. LAMetroParking is smart intuitive and less than a minute to use once you put on the info in. Except for the ridiculous parking ticket I got, and even fought, it's been more than a smooth ride.

Only this is great

After you put in your TAP card and info it’s pretty easy to use. Just find the zone info, click the pay with your credit and you’re good to go. Pretty simple
