Simply impossible to open CapitecBank at all without it crashing I have tried it on multiple different devices yet no difference.
The first time I was able to scan my face but since then it crashed and now every time I open it loads for about 3 seconds then crashes again. I have tried reinstalling.
I am oversea I tried using the new app but it doesn’t want to activate it says it wants an sms verification which I don’t have cause I’m not in South Africa n it’s been months now. How am I going to get hold of my money if the new app ain’t working and my old app is going to stop working. Capitec needs to find a easier accessible apps to be honest
CapitecBank is still crashing after the latest update can’t do any type of transaction this is ridiculous
I’m struggling for almost an hour just to set up an account using this selfie input. I’ve literally moved in every direction for proper lighting and everything , it just doesn’t seem to work.
Nothing works in CapitecBank. It takes 30 min, 20 log ins just to try and add a beneficiary then it takes another 30min and a hell of a lot of frustration to try and pay someone. It’s easier just to post them the money.

Today is 12/02/2025. Since 04/02/2025 I have been trying so unsuspend my account (too many attempts to use pin!!!! -not true)
I again prompted CapitecBank - 2 hours and 24minutes ago. No reply - nothing! Even AI is slow. What to do?
Only possible to transfer “remote banking” functionality to a new phone from within South Africa, despite have both and SA SIM card & sufficient balance to send the authorisation SMS.
Given COVID lockdowns (not being in SA), this makes banking difficult.
If a user has both their old and new phones, why not allow them to generate & scan a QR code to transfer this functionality?
CapitecBank is good but, the budget function available on the previous version is gone, you can only track your money but can’t do active budgeting.
Now crashes if I want to check my transactions. Shows error page and jump back to sign in page. I switch off my phone every night and ON in the morning. I've also deleted and reinstalled CapitecBank ; none fixed the error.
Now works after few weeks of frustration.
I have traveled around the world and used different banks. Capitec Is in my opinion the best bank in the world. CapitecBank is simple to use and all features are secure and simple to use. 5/5 stars any day of the week.
Totally a great app , but they need to work on hide/unhide of accounts, that wil get them an A.
