The HEB Go app is a nice thought, but the Scan and Go app and checkout process at Sam's Club just works better. For example, HEBGo doesn't scan UPC codes on clearance items, so you have to go to a register staffed by a cashier, making HEBGo useless on trips when you're buying a clearance item. At HEB, you can use HEBGo to pay, but just when you think you're done checking out, the attendant has to come over and scan your items again. After she does that, you have to interact *again* with the touch screen to say that you're done, which seems like an extra, unnecessary step. I guess when the attendant scans your items, it prevents "inventory shrinkage," and is similar to Sam's where you have to have your receipt and a sample of items scanned on your way out the door, but so does everyone else at Sam's. In contrast, at HEB, the process just seems awkward and doesn't really save any time compared to just using the standard self checkout terminals.
