Broken

App doesn’t work 2 times out of 3, loses presets, doesn’t register proper height, buggy when height units is changed, doesn’t register standing time for challenges, notification bar stays on when away from desk, like when I leave the office, and overall needs a lot of work. Now as per other comments posted here, Linak will respond with platitudes and not software updates

Favorite position feature is broken

As others have commented, the favorite position settings in DeskControl do not work at all. Per the documentation, this should allow either automatically or manually (depending on the user setting) positioning the desk to a saved favorite height. Without this feature, DeskControl is useless as there is no advantage or additional features beyond the height adjustment switch located on the desk.

Developers, please fix this and then encourage users to revise their dismal reviews.

Unusable

1. After exiting DeskControl (which eventually happens on any iOS device) it's somehow losing pairing so I have to press the button on the table for a few seconds to let them pair again.
2. No support for auto drive (move to favorite position) for IKEA Idasen desk. So no one-touch function. The developer reply is that the controller device lacks this feature. But we all know it's barely an excuse as they COULD program a automatic move feature right in DeskControl —basically holding the button for me. The same way I will do this by holding the button manually.

Both issues are super frustrating to the point that I've started working on my own app using the Bluetooth LTE and learning the API. And it works well. Even on Windows (the Linak app from Windows Store cannot pair with Idasen)...

Keeps losing presets

Recently DeskControl has started this thing where I’ll launch it and it will have no presets stored anymore and is also showing an obviously wrong height (e.g., DeskControl shows the desk height as 9.9 inches when the desk itself shows 32.4 inches). I reset it once by uninstalling / reinstalling but it’s done it again now so I think I’m giving up. Hopefully this will be fixed at some point.

(Edited to add) the desk is an iMovR Lander Desk

Presets always disappear

Same situation as a recent reviewer on my iMovr Lander desk, every time I open DeskControl my presets have all disappeared and DeskControl reverts back to “Guest” mode. Even after changing back to “Owner” the desk heights are all wrong (3.8” from the ground is an impossible height) and my settings for automatic drive, challenges and stand reminders are gone. I basically have to reconfigure all my settings and remeasure the desk height every time I use DeskControl .

Frustrating

Had the desk for less than a week and DeskControl seems to have erased my 3 favorite positions today. At first I thought DeskControl was broken earlier in the week because I didn’t realize I had to hold my favorite. That should just be a tap and go in my opinion. I also don’t need these challenges and would rather it not pop up to remind to set those up. Now time to set up my favorites again…

Truly useless

I fail to see where DeskControl is even remotely necessary. In the time it takes to link to the desk, I could have tapped the control on the desk, and raised or lowered it. I tried to use the “You” feature which presumably is a challenge mode where you stand for a certain amount of time every hour, logging your results. I don’t know, because it’s completely non functional. I tap all over the screen with no effect. I emailed the developer and basically got email feedback that wasn’t particularly helpful.

Basic and functionality is poor

Love that my desk has an app I can connect to it with. I love that I can control it. That’s about it.

DeskControl is glitchy, it deleted all of my user settings the first couple of times I used it. It shows yesterday’s info but not today’s. It doesn’t refresh data from the desk if DeskControl wasn’t opened that day.

Seems like it could use a reevaluation and to have the developers actually use DeskControl daily. Based on how it’s built, it doesn’t seem like they use the desks at all.

Broken app - Horrible

The “You” tab of DeskControl does not work. Will never show the standing data for the current day. Hitting “Today” just shows the previous day. App does not seem to consistently track and record standing data. Linak sells DeskControl as a major feature of their standing desk hardware yet it is broken. There are other major bugs including losing all of the profile information you’ve previously input (height, weight, auto drive, and reminder preferences). About the only thing that works is moving the desk via DeskControl when DeskControl actually connects properly to the desk. Also the developer needs to enable DeskControl to be installed on Mac M1 desktops. The developer / Linak is completely ignoring the major issues with DeskControl. Last update was 6 months ago. They will just comment “thanks for your feedback.” Horrible customer support.

Need support of Siri Shortcuts and a widget

This Linak apps are surprisingly bad, considering that it should be their focus. No mac / linux support, people are creating their own opensource versions of that. iOS app requires support for Siri Shortcuts to move desk up and down to the memorized positions or at least have a widget support. Nobody needs the calendar and notifications, people need to just drive the table fast and convenient, which is not possible today without clicking a dozen of buttons to unlock the phone, open app etc

Horrible User Experience (UX)

I only use DeskControl to adjust the height of the desk. Why can’t there be a configuration to have the start screen be the control page? It doesn’t make sense to default to the “You” screen only to have to click over to the “Control” screen every time I need to adjust the desk. Your telemetry should easily be able to show that’s what most people are doing. Nobody is using DeskControl for the challenges. Please update to allow just the use of the controls.

Update Favorites Feature

The only reason I wanted DeskControl was so I could click once and have my desk go to the saved height. Instead I have to hold my saved height. This is not useful or convenient. I might as well just hold the lever on my desk. It would be amazing if the developers of DeskControl could add that feature.

Rudimentary

It’s an ok app, but rudimentary. I’d like to see a lot more statistics. For instance, I have a treadmill desk. I’d love for DeskControl to track sit, stand, and walk by day, and produce graphs. Basically all of the information the iMovr treadmill control unit tracks, but by day, week , month etc. Also, apparently if you don’t download one day, the next day when you do download, plot doesn’t download the previous day’s data. Why not?

Well I understand the logic behind the three favorite height setting

When you trying to adjust the height, the motor will stop at your favorite height.

The disadvantage is you have to press or pull the switch constantly until it stop.

I guess, the manufacturer have concerns about allowing the desk adjust the height itself.

Should default to control tab not stats

Please add an option to make the “control” tab the default.
The Desk Control app defaults to the “stats” tab. But I open DeskControl to control my desk 99% of the time so it should open to the control tab first. Thank you!

The control tab works well allowing me to set a few heights and hold the button as the desk adjusts to the set height.

Thank you.

Basic but works

I like being able to save presets and control the desk, but honestly once the presets are set and the desk already stops at my favorite heights, its not used much since i have to tap and hold to keep it up, and I might as well just use the button.

What would be really nice is an integration with shortcuts so I could raise the desk without using my hands at all and just by asking siri.

Most bad reviews are out of date.

To start, FAVORITE POSITIONS HAVE BEEN ADDED.

The favorite positions feel good enough, you have to hold the button to reach said position, but that’s enough for me. You can have one for sitting, one for standing, and one for who knows what, but it’s there.

Control buttons feel good enough, obviously a slight delay comes with Bluetooth.

The only big issue I’ve discovered that is problematic is crashes while changing the favorite positions. This can set the height measurement to be based on the extension rather than floor, and is just confusing (not app breaking).

I’ve only just set up the table so maybe the review will change with time. If that issue were not present it would be a 4.5/5 app.

Worked as expected

I’m not sure what everyone is talking about as far as functionality of the favorite position. I’ve reset it just fine. It works as a remote control for any hydraulic desk. I’m not sure what these 1 and 2 star reviewers were expecting. It’s a remote control and works for that. However, I do agree it would be a cool feature if you added so that when we click our favorite position the desk adjusts to that height. But that’s probably also a huge liability also. And I get it.

Basic but does it need more?

You need Bluetooth on. It tracks vaguely how long you are standing but honestly I don’t even care or look at that. Pairing was easy. You get 3 favorites which you can use from your phone or the desk but you have to hold the button on DeskControl to go to the setting, honestly it’s a safety feature (think kids). If you open DeskControl without Bluetooth it make get a little funky just kill it and re-open it with Bluetooth on.

Excellent App

Using on an iMovr Lander desk. Remember to set “Automatic Drive” in the settings to perform the one touch favorites adjustments. I hold down the button for one second, then the desk adjusts to my selected favorite height.

Suggestion for developers - After successful pairing to the desk for the first time, maybe ask if the user wants to setup Automatic Drive.
