An excellent product

I recently switched to this product from and older device. The change has been nothing short of extraordinary. I especially enjoy the ability too stream audio from my phone and phone calls are now easily understandable. I can once again hear my loving wife whose voice is somewhat deeper than most women. And she had a habit of turning away whilst talking. I was never able to get my older hearing aids tuned to hear her clearly.
Additionally, the support for loud environments means I can now join into conversations that previously eluded me.
In short, a life changing event. I feel that I hear as a normal person not some one with amplified noise in their ears.
All this being said I find some issues. myControlApp tends to drop the Bluetooth connection and then refuses to reconnect. Not a big deal but annoying.
I'd like to be able to hear notifications of text messages and such but that doesn't seem to work. And I'd like a forum to discuss these issues, which does not appear to exist.

Overall good but not great.

Overall I like these hearing aids. I just wish I was able to fine-tune them more, especially when watching a tv program w/ a lot of music or extraneous noise in the background. It becomes so annoying, especially when I can’t hear the people talking in the foreground. The same for a singer with the band playing loudly or a fitness instructor playing music through Bluetooth external speakers. It’s almost impossible to hear the words to the song or the instructor’s directions. I’ve tried everything I can think of and can’t seem to improve the main person’s dialogue through my devices. Very frustrating & disappointing!

Low battery warning sound

myControlApp is supposed to keep track of battery power level and play a specific sound when the battery power level is low. It doesn’t do this, instead it shows a message that the hearing aids were recently updated and requires the user to go to iPhone settings and forget the hearing aids
then re pair the hearing aids. After this is done they don’t work right. They cut out, first one side then the other. I found out, after a thirty minute wait for tech support, that the aids also have to be re paired with myControlApp , something the message doesn’t tell you. It also goes into Demo mode when the battery power is low. The problem is that the battery icons show full power while all this is going on and the audio low power warning is never activated. This company, Signia, doesn’t care that the thing doesn’t work properly. They just make it look pretty and sell their devices. What happens after that isn’t their problem. I think this whole business is a scam. If Signia really cared about their customers they would fix these problems.

Unhappy

I’ve had the Pure 13 7Nx hearing aids for over a year. I have an iPhone XR. At night I open the battery cases to shut the hearing aids off. In the morning when I turn them back on, myControlApp reverts to Demo Mode. When I go into myControlApp , I get the message, “It seems your hearing aids were recently updated. Please forget and re-pair them”. Then Retry. Today I had to go through this process FOUR times before I could get them to pair. After re-pairing in Settings, I went back to myControlApp and tapped on “Retry”. Then I watched the spinning ball spin and spin..... Each attempt is multi-step with no shortcuts. After the second failure to pair, I did a hard reset on my phone. It still took two more attempts to finally have success.
I haven’t found the Noisy Environment setting to provide suitable muffling at all. Also the aids are absolutely terrible in reverberant rooms.
Needless to say, after paying a LOT of money for these aids, I am very frustrated and unhappy.

Initial review:

1 mo review... From the first day I received the PURE 312. Nx (RIC) thru my VA system I’ve been amazed that other than having my youthful hearing back... I’ve been amazed that I virtually don’t feel them there !
So small and light and with the vented ear cup they simply have become ‘a part of ME ! I have to remind myself occasionally that they are still there. They sound nothing like ‘EAR BUDS’....or the moulded in-ear aids I returned to my VA because they were just too uncomfortable and sounded harsh. My initial scepticism with these new (RIC) aids was immediate ! There was virtually no ‘sense’ that there was an air in my ear...just Christal clear/ very natural hearing I’d known as a kid. My enjoyment at regaining a natural hearing ability without clumsy new
aids that I’d have to adapt to...changed to immediate adaption without a single hitch.

Good features but glitchy

My Signia rechargable Bluetooth heating aids work quite well and I love the way the cafe and tv modes work to cut down background noise and improve the control I have over tv volume while listing with others.

First let me say that this version of myControlApp is not up to date on how to do setup with the current iOS version. This needs updating soon. A simple fix, but worrisome for new users.

I’ve just been forced to reload myControlApp after 18 months of usage. It looks like iOS may have addressed some of the glitches with the new accessibility setup, but only time will tell.

When making long drive, I most alway link my phone to the care sound system so that I can have both google maps and echo auto/amazon music play through the speakers. With my hearing aids turned on this setup can be long and/or glitchy. If I receive a call while driving, the sound comes neither from my hearing aids nor the speakers.

Since I’ve been linking my phone to my car Bluetooth, receiving calls through my hearing aids is glitchy, even when not in the car.

Time and playing with options will tell me if the updates fix my Bluetooth speaker issues.

Signa controller app

myControlApp gets 0 stars. It is totally useless. It constantly looses contact with the hearings aids, goes into demo mode on its own, eats up the battery on the phone, does not recognize the hearing aids phone has to be shut down several times a day in order to even connect to myControlApp even when the phone is in your hand! Does not remember or keep a change in program goes to demo or retry or universal no matter what you have programmed. Today I had to reset it 15 times since 8am and it now 7:30 pm as I am writing this it has AGAIN lost the contact!!!!
For the price of these heAring aids, I have a pair, it is a piece of junk. My old pair ,a different brand, had a little hand held device that you tapped and it changed the program and it STAYED on the program until you changed it. This doesn’t even notify you when battery is getting low ALL the beeps sound EXACTLY the same when it even beeps which isn’t always

Must know tips for the app

I had issues until I learned what the manual didn’t tell me. First off never have more than one Bluetooth connected at a time. More than one and your connection will suffer. To charge Styletto using battery, after inserting hearing aids in charger you must quickly tap front LED light. The internal ones will flash several times before going out and you know the charger is working. Third and maybe the most important. After Apple does an update to your phone you must uninstall and reinstall myControlApp .
If you follow these tips you should have many years of problem free use. I hope this helps.

Absolutely Frustrated to No End w/This App

Decorum dictates I not express how I truly feel about and where the company can put this junk crap App!!!!
I’ve been wearing the Signia hearing aids and using myControlApp for over two years. I’ve had problems with connecting to my aids occasionally over that time, some my own creation like being connected to my iPad, forgetting to close/disconnect and then trying to connect to the phone.
Recently, as in the past two months myControlApp has required me to go into Settings and “forget” this device, now seemingly every other day. I cannot begin to communicate how frustrating and now infuriating this has become! At the very least I have to put the aids back in the charging case, wait for them to shut off, pull the aids back out, wait for the to start and then connect with the phone!

Biggest disappointment ever!

My audiologist installed myControlApp when I got my new hearing aids. I was so excited to be able to hear on my cell phone without having to turn on speaker and turn the volume up so loud that everyone around me could hear. What a major disappointment!! App stays connected for a few hours at most, and then one or both aids will spontaneously disconnect with no warning whatsoever. I have deleted, reinstalled, and re-connected countless times. Can’t count the number of hours wasted doing this. Now my right aid is connected but not the left — it says I have 0% battery in the left aid even tho it’s a brand new battery. So frustrated I could scream. And to think I paid over $5000 for new aids so I could use this crummy app! I’d give myControlApp zero stars, but the program won’t let me, so I have to give it one. It deserves a zero!!

My experience

Whenever I look into a product, I read the reviews and start with the 1 stars. It seems the most problems people have had were with the batteries. I have th seee newer rechargeable hearing aids and battery level has never been a problem since I recharge them every night.

The other complaint is myControlApp /hearing aids tend to take over phone calls/music. I too was upset at first, but the I realized there are several ways to overcome the problem. All in all I am getting used to them and feel I will be using them for a long time.

Great Controls and Data

I’ve been wearing hearing aids since 2014. During that time, I found the entire process to be extremely frustrating. I’ve had my new hearing aids for a month and I finally found a product with which I am well pleased.

The My Control app is the perfect tool for controlling my hearing aids with almost infinite possibilities. It’s simple to use and the only negative appears to be some delay in loading on initial usage.

I’m especially impressed with the data it provides about your daily hearing experience. I find it useful in shaping my activities to avoid situations that can be harmful to my hearing.

The App over-rides the iPhone Preferences

Overall I’m pleased with the apps ability to switch for the different environments. The issue & it is a major issue for me, myControlApp is over-riding the setting for the hearing aids in the iPhone Preferences. For example, I’ve set the hearing aids to NEVER be used for a phone call. The majority of the time, myControlApp still wants to route the call to the hearing aids & worse still, the phone & app fight during the call switching back and forth. When I’m driving, I take the hearing aids out and turn them off.

So, apparently Signia doesn’t keep up with the iPhone updates either! My phone is unable to keep a connection with my hearing aid as of the latest update to the iPhone in October 2019. VERY frustrating to say the least, especially when you’re out a few thousand dollars to hear better!!! RUN AWAY

CROS Aid

I am 45 days into using my Signa aids which include a cross aid. My experience with my rechargeable aid with blue tooth to my phone is a significant improvement over my previous aids. This ap allows me to balance both aids for volume and has other good features. In total my experience with Signa aids and the ap is an improvement.
I do have a problem with the cross aid going “dead”. This typically happens more than once per day. The only way I have found to fully restore it is to reboot my phone. This is frustrating. My provider has secured a new CROS aid and the problem is still the same. This causes me to suspect that the problem may be with the ap rather than the aid. A solution to this problem would make me a happy camper.

Needs Work

I am almost a year into my hearing aids and use of myControlApp . For the most part, the idea behind it all is great, if it worked as it should. The various environments are USELESS. Noisy only makes everything louder and more difficult to hear, rather than account for the outside noise and cancel unnecessary stuff. I really like the 360 degree adjustment as that works pretty good funneling put unwanted noise, allowing for better reception in the areas desired. As a fairly savvy 60 yr old I’m good with tech stuff but they really need to spend more time explaining the use of EVERY FUNCTION available (what they do, when you should use them etc ). Overall I give 3 stars. More work is needed.

Sometimes frustrating...

It great for changing the volume, location, and working with controlling my environment. However, connecting it to the Bluetooth feature seems a bit of a challenge.

I understand it won’t connect to my phone and i-pad at the same time...so when I want to use it with my i-pad i turn off my phone. Then i have to turn off my hearing aids and restart them several times for the i-pad to pick up the signal. Should it be that difficult? I have the I-pad pro.

Even with the phone it sometimes take 3 or 4 minutes for the phone to connect to the Bluetooth so I can hear the conversations in my devices. If I switch to audible or another app, it doesn’t always connect with out shutting things off and restarting. It would seem that once it was connect to the phone for phone calls, when I wanted to listen to my audible, it would just work. Everything is in range, sitting at the table with my hearing aids in and my I-phone or I-pad right there.

I hope they fix that soon...

Bluetooth function

My experience with this application has been good with the exception of one thing. I use this ability of my hearing aids to connect with my cell phone while I am driving. I use the navigation application Waze, And when Waze is giving an alert or directions I am unable to hear someone in the car talking to me. If I am listening to a podcast or something of that nature I am able to hear someone coming up and talking to me. It would be nice if a person in close proximity start talking the Bluetooth function could be paused, so that the person who is talking to me can be heard.

Awkward

myControlApp is useful for changing between programs (universal, music, noisy, etc.) and adjusting volume. But the battery monitoring and warnings are close to useless. On a number of times I checked battery status before going out. Even when it shows over half power I have not been able to sit through a 2 hour movie or concert. And there are only minutes between the first warning and the battery dying.
It also does a number of quirky things. Dropping off of Bluetooth but then coming back when I change programs, changing programs on its on, etc.
Hoping for an update to fix this because I really like the aids.

Needs Refinement

myControlApp offers some control of hearing aid capabilities but could use some updates. It supposedly offers volume and bass/treble control of your hearing devices; however I can discern little if any change when I favor bass over treble. When I reduce the volume to an acceptable level I get an error msg indicating that the volume is too low for myControlApp to function. It should allow users to modify the various functions to suit their hearing difficulties and then save those settings for particular sound environments such as loud restaurants, noisy live music venues and sports arenas. Good start but needs fine tuning!

Needs improvement

I so wish that the settings would STAY the way I want them, and the way they are set when I close myControlApp . Things go back to what supposedly is called "default" for myControlApp . It is very tedious to re-set all my favorite settings every time I open myControlApp again (meaning every day).

- I don't believe people from this company ever read these reviews, because if they did, they would at least TRY to fix the numerous issues that folks are having with myControlApp. The price that the company charges for the hearing aids should absolutely more than support decent apps offered here to manage the aids. Just my humble opinion.

The Control app

Since Signia has recently updated its app it is problematic and frustrating. As soon as I installed it I began to have problems unlike pre-update. Every time I am too far away from myControlApp and return, instead of just reconnecting I get a message that I have to go back to Settings. I go back to General/ settings, etc. At first I was going back and repairing which then would put me into demo mode which i had to correct. Then I tried just going to General settings, etc. and just returning to myControlApp where it again said "Retry." I clicked retry and myControlApp will now connect me although it may go back to demo mode. I have been using myControlApp for a year and myControlApp worked until the recent update. Signia needs to fix myControlApp . There must be a bug.

Works but could use improvement

myControlApp works as described and I haven't had any of the connection issues some of the other users have had. My one suggestion is for myControlApp to remember the volume setting when you switch Between different modes and when you turn off myControlApp or your hearing aids and then turn them back on. If I set the volume on universal to 5 and then switch to TV mode and set it to 5 when I go back to universal it is back at the default volume of 8. The same when I go back to TV. This would be a big user improvement for me.

Needs better filtering and attention to documentation.

App is fine; not great. There is actually not much here. The spatial configuration is nice, but other preset filters all sound pretty much the same. Needs ability to control EQ for filtering and create and save your own filters. Better filtering needed especially for music. Surprisingly, there’s no way to control balance either. Better explanations for features that already exist would be nice. What is “sound exposure”? No explanation. Just a toggle. Overall myControlApp feels like it was released with what could be done technically; not with what people need.

I keep losing connection with my right hearing aid. Say "right hearing aid is missing". Can't get into the app to increase or decrease volume VERY frustration!!!! I paid A LOT of money for these hearing aides.... over $5000. !! Now I have NO control over volume etc.! NOT HAPPY !!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app... Nothing works!!!!!!!!!!!!!
