New version 1.4.16 makes unusable

Previous versions allowed you to hide or expand the left panel with all your documents and folders, as well as adjust the width of the panel. This was a key feature to maintain a highlevel view at all time. The new versions auto-hide the documents and folders and therefore reduces the ability to review and scan your work with ease.

Crashes. No longer supported.

If you’re doing data storage, don’t use Dynalist. It has documented memory issues for documents exceeding a few hundred lines. I wish I had know this a year ago. I have used it heavily for my daily journal, work and research notes. But suddenly it hang/refresh/crashes every 10-15 seconds, even on iphone 15 and above. It won’t save new content. Searches hang and freeze, even on ipads. On the support page they say Dynalist was not built for data storage and they no will longer update it because they are focusing on another app they sell.

Rated for deceptive advertising

Dynalist promises that you can import from other apps into it, but from what I can tell, that’s only if you pay for an upgrade, which they didn’t specify in Dynalist notes or description. I never would’ve started using this service if they’d been up front with their potential customers. This is bad policy. If you have to pay for a feature, say so up front. I’m starting to wonder if importing from WorkFlowy (which you can only do from the website to start with) is free either.

Good but laggy

The functionality is great. What’s not great is the fact that Dynalist is incredibly laggy. Every tap takes a second or two to register. Makes the overall experience clunky and not worth the price tag. There are lots of note taking apps out there that do far less but are much more enjoyable to use. I’ll be sticking with those.

Crashfest

I really like the desktop and web platforms for this app but the ios version simply doesn't provide the same experience. It crashes on me almost every other time I open Dynalist . It's so frustrating. I was hoping the developers would come out with a fix but it's been months now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm ready to jump ship to another note taking alternative like bear notes.

Huge potential, but...

UI on iOS needs much improvement. Specifically, THEE most important fundamental UI feature would be the ability to move a list item via tap and hold in order to reorganize list information.

This is an advertised feature but it is currently not functioning (at all)—app recognizes tap and hold, but doesn’t actually move the item at all to the intended location in the list.

Therefore, Dynalist is useless when it comes to organizing information via iOS, rendering all other powerful features also negligible.

Also, there is very little iOS support for Dynalist. For instance, the introduction documentation, in the iOS app, is clearly the same introduction for the desktop version. The problem is, it refers to UI features that are only present on the desktop.

Like the app but needs an update

I can barely type in my lists these days in Dynalist on my iPhone 7. It’s like 6 second delay when I type a letter to it appearing on the screen and it is really annoying when trying to make a grocery list quickly. Hope y’all update Dynalist , would pay for a subscription if you do more updates!

Loving this app

Loving Dynalist. Clean. Makes it easy to focus on various levels of detail. I would like to suggest that the developer add support for TextExpander. That would make it a 5-star.

Best outliner app but could be more iOS friendly

this app is the best outliner app on the desktop and this is a decent iOS companion. It suffers from not being a native app, having slow sync, and missing some features available on the web app. Still, it is a reliable companion for those who use the web app and it keeps improving.

Awesome Sync with the desktop app

The versatility of the desktop app that I use on my PC is now extended with this iOS app. I use Drafts to enter information and it then syncs with my desktop version of this app. No it is not was easy to use as the desktop app. However, if you use drafts for new entries you'll understand how useful Dynalist can be.

Used in this manner, it makes taking notes easy, anytime and anyplace.

Fantastic list app

One of my top 3 productivity apps. The core feature - hierarchical, navigatable lists - works well and is super useful, and extra features like being able to format text, create multiple list documents, organize them in folders, and easily move items to other documents, set it apart from similar list apps.

Dynalist changed the way I organize my life

Dynalist is brilliant in its simplicity. It does the small things so well, is responsive/quick, seamlessly sync across devices, has the flexibility for you to create systems for yourself, and even though the developers haven’t been actively working on it since obsidian blew up, it’s still my favorite task manager/note taking app. Give it a try!

Best outliner, tool for thought

I tried all proclivity / note-taking apps but nothing came close to this app. It’s not ideal, it has many problems and areas for improvement. Still, keeping in mind fast and reliable iOS app + fast desktop app + web clippers + iOS share extension + API + great outliner and features (like move item with a shortcut, quick full text search, global quick add shortcut, email to this app, backlinks, etc), it’s my favorite productivity app. For me it works better than Roam Research, Obsidian, Notion, Evernote and other similar apps. Thank you dev team, you are great and please don’t abandon this beautiful product!

Now about features I miss:
- WYSIWYG editor. It’ll make backlinks, images, formatting prettier and will improve speed of working with this app
- Sidebar or multiple windows for desktop app. Loved it in Roam. That really gives a boost to productivity
- Editable mind map view
- Kanban view (WorkFlowy )
- Ability to mirror blocks (WorkFlowy )
- Team collaboration and management. This one would be huge!

I use the Desktop and web app all the time!

After going through several outliners like OmniOutliner and Workflowy, it was this app that one out.
this app developers: this is the best outlining software! Please keep supporting this just as you’ve been improving Obsidian.

Excellent app

I feel like I struck gold with this well thought out app. I wanted to sign up for Roam Research, but they weren’t open to new clients art the time. I was looking for a Personal Knowledge Manager, and After some hunting, I happened to find this app. I think it is a well thought-out program.

Zen for writing, planning, note-taking

This is the only note taking / outlining app needed. Everything is a tree, everything is movable and infinitely expandable to just the right thinking focus for the current context, instantly searchable by tags, dates, people/locations.

Former Workflowy User

this app won my heart and now my loyalty. iOS version continues to steadily roll out improvements, and it’s already best in class. Thanks so much to the developers—this is my second brain (and is much more reliable than the OG brain sloshing around in my noggin).

One of the best outliners

I use Dynalist in combination with desktop one for Mac - sync is working like a charm.

Dynalist itself is very lightweight and feels easy to use, interface is intuitive.

Digital bullet journal

It took me what felt like forever to find a digital solution to my work bullet journal. In the current work from home status, with a much smaller workspace- keeping my bullet journal out to mark my notes and tasks in the daily log just wasn’t working. Every app/website mentioned as a bullet journal alternative didn’t have what I needed - the ability to simply make a billeted Daily Log. This is that solution. It has gone further too- tagging is perfect for my staff meetings. When I need to document I simply tag and now it’s all searchable. Perfect for an “index” alternative.

This One Wins

Is is perfect? No, but it *is* the best app I have tried (and I have tried them all) for organizing your writing. this app in split screen with Ulysses or iA Writer is, without any real competition, the best writing experience on the iPad.

So, five stars. Not because there's nothing to improve, but because it's the best we've got, and if more people use it, maybe the developers will be able to spend time making this feel like an iOS app and a little less like a ported website. (Until then, the one bug which slowed me down at first has an easy fix : if you have it open with split screen and find the cursor getting captured by the OTHER app and not returning to this app, use Command + Tab on your keyboard to switch back to Dynalist .)

this app Devs, thank you so much for making a truly useful app. If future versions felt a little less like a UI kit and a little more like Bear ... that would be wonderful, but take your time. This thing is worth getting right.
