Beware! New App is Horrible!

I will be deleting GooglePay immediately! It’s so disappointing to have an app that you love and then go to use it one day only to discover everything you loved about it has changed. Typically, I like updates. This one, however, is horribly unnecessarily complicated. Plus, the new “update” includes being forced to pay a fee for instant deposit when using a debit card. Really Google? I HAVE to pay $15 to transfer $1000 out of my Google ACCT to my bank account if I’m using my debit card? But if I want to use my bank, it will take “up to” 5 days. No worries. I’ll wait. The absolute worst new update I discovered was when I tried to send money from one of my other accounts. I use my Google account to put money aside for my son. Essentially, a temporary saving. Anyway, I go to send money using my other account and was denied access to my own accounts. The message indicated that I HAD to use the money in my Google account before I would be allowed to send money from my other account. Wrap your mind around that. You’re being told that you cannot use your other accounts until you use all the money in your Google account. Unbelievably horrible. Not sure what Goggle was thinking, other than greed. I’ll be going back to Cash App. At least they give you an option to do instant deposit using your debit card. Extremely disappointed.

I Hate the new update

Google Pay was so much better before. You used to be able to use multiple email addresses now you can only use one. So if you have a business and a personal email you can only use this for one email. I am frustrated because when setting up the new app I accidentally used my business email, I’m not sure how but I think an email was automatically selected for me and by the time I realized which email was there it was too late. I need to use it for a personal transaction and now I can’t. I also used to use it to send money to other accounts and I used to be able to help my mother who is not so computer savvy send money to her family members by signing into her account for her and sending what she needed sent. They also store your money in a google pay account similar to CashApp and you have to wait for days before your money is in the google pay account before you can actually send the money to your intended recipient, or you must keep money in your google pay account just sitting there for when you may need to send money to someone, but with all these things getting hacked from time to time it would not be wise to have money just sitting there. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this. Why fix something that isn’t broken?! Please change it back!!!

Confusing App and Will Not Let Me Change My Legal Name

GooglePay is far more convoluted and confusing than I would have thought, to the point that I had to have somebody hold my hand and walk me thru the entire process of setting it up and learning how to use it. I’m 24, I was raised in the age of smart phones, this shouldn't be that difficult for me. But beyond that, when I tried to look at my personal info, it showed my legal name as something completely different from my own, and is locked, making it so I can’t change it. Which is INCREDIBLY STUPID if you ask me bc, even ignoring the fact that it just has me wrong??? People change their names!! Legally!!!! They realize their gender is wrong or they get married or divorced or something! And change their name! But you can’t do that here!! Also, while I realize that most payment apps charge you to remove your money, finding out from other reviews that they didn’t used to have that feature infuriates me even more than it did when i saw the fact they were going to charge me.

All in all, its a one star from me, bc I just can’t figure it out despite growing up w technology, the movement of capitalism to where every single thing you use tries to charge you infuriates me, and the fact that they LITERALLY gave me the WRONG NAME and WILL NOT let me change it.

Money taken out of account on the wrong day mess up bank account

The type a bank account I have the money comes out immediately google pay request the money out from my bank on the 22 instead of the 19 which is the day I made and cancel the transaction call google pay they tell me that It my banks fault check with your bank that that’s your banks fault no I have proof in pictures that the money was requested from Google on the 22nd and there’s nothing that they would do to fix it no courtesy to put my money back in my account nothing so I will not be using Google pay once everything is said and done these are the reasons why companies fail I have all the proof all the proof I don’t mine waiting but I’m still upset because of the wrong information and because I do have pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all my bank knows I asked for the money to be sent to google on the 22 instead of the 19 when I actually made the transaction. I still have those pictures my proof showing the money was wrongly taken out on my account after it was canceled on the same day. Zero stars is what I want to give google pay I apologize to the people I feel deserve an apology get better google I would get GooglePay because I use to love google but GooglePay is not the same I will not recommend GooglePay.

Worst app

Just found out about Google offers and would love to use Google pay more, but I’ve found GooglePay to be confusing and difficult to navigate. As great as some of the Google offers are, something as simple as saving and adding the offer to your account is a process in itself. I’ve literally used GooglePay twice and both times, I wondered to myself “did the offer go through” as there is no way to check! I’m currently waiting on customer support to check my latest transaction... added offer to my account, accessed the website through Google pay app, and made my purchase with the eligible credit card on file....after all is said and done, THERES STILL NO INDICATION OF WHETHER THE OFFER WENT THROUGH ARE NOT. How hard is it to have a notificAtion that says “sorry this offer can’t be used anymore” or a “congrats, you have successfully utilized the offer, please wait for further processing”?? Additionally, opening a chat ticket to ask for help is another hair pulling process in itself. Once this issue is resolved, this will probably be the last time I use GooglePay, regardless of how great the offers are until all these little quality of life issues are fixed. There are too many other great apps currently available for me to have to put up with this headache.

2 weeks to deposit $200

The tl;dr is if you can, avoid Google pay at all costs.

Somehow someone decided it was a good idea for the money you deposit to take 5+ days to post if they’re feeling generous despite any worthwhile app having it available in literal seconds. (venmo or cash app) it’s going to take me two weeks one way or another to get the money I tried to deposit. At this moment Google is saying they retuned the money to my bank that I tried to deposit but I was able to call that bluff within 5 minutes of calling my own bank. So clearly they’re lying to the support team in an effort for them to take the blame. At this point I don’t know when I’ll get my money back if ever. On the bright side I’m trying to get my bank to use Zelle so I can pay my rent. Technophobic brainless landlord who only uses Zelle or Google pay aside, the moment I don’t have to use Google pay I will never touch it again. All of this because Google feels they have the right to gamble your money for 5-14 days in order to line the pockets of there CEO so he can take airplane rides with J Epstine to a private island. All in all, Google gives a good reason to have a corporate death penalty. Give me my money back Google.

Piece of garbage!

The fact that we now have to pay a fee to transfer out immediately is ridiculous. The old google pay was absolutely amazing since it transferred right away without a fee. I’m so upset that we can no longer use the old app and are forced to use this new app that charges a fee. It’s also very confusing to find out how to navigate GooglePay , and is very deceiving when transferring your money because it’s very easy to not notice that it will charge a fee unless you change the settings and see the little drop down option to wait 5 business days and not be charged a fee. First time using GooglePay , I was charged a $27 fee for a transaction since it was super easy to not notice that there are other options (such as not being charged a fee). They make it confusing so you accidentally pay the fee instead of being easily directed to ALL OF THE OPTIONS. I now hate GooglePay. I will be going back to using venmo instead of this crappy new google pay app. I wish I could give this a -5 stars. Do not use GooglePay, there are other apps and payment methods that don’t charge a fee and transfer money faster than google pay.

DO NOT GET APP

I have never had trouble with any apps or the apps team EVER! This one stole money from me, was hard enough trying to find out how to contact them. They have no phone number, so spent 4 weeks going back and forth with one of the laziest team member(s) and was asked to file a dispute. The only dispute they have is a Peer to Peer unauthorized transaction. My bank shows I made to payments out when I had only made one and got that one payment sent back and put back into my account. They do not take the time to clarify why google took another $10 out of my bank. It does not show in app history two payments out only one because that’s all I made. I sent them proof and confirmed that my bank shows two transactions of $10 and my history only shows one because that is all I made and still get no clarification from the team members and they still fight me that I made two, and again asked me to put in a peer to peer dispute even though it was not a peer to peer dispute. Worst app ever! Do not waste the time. Stick to cash app and PayPal who I’ve never had problems with and always ready to help and clarify any and every situation!

Can’t Buy Gas

I only got GooglePay because a regular customer of mine only had or knew how to use Google Pay. I use many different cash apps. Almost all of them allow me to move money into my main bank without fees. Yes, most charge to instantly add to a debit card. If I can connect a bank account to Google Pay, it’s not anywhere as easy to do as the other cash apps. But my BIGGEST frustration with GooglePay is I use this for mostly driving a customer around. I sure wish I could buy gas with it. I read all over the Internet on how to do it. The instructions are simple and clear. Just tap the “Pay” tab and scroll down to “Get Gas”. Problem is, there is hardly anything to scroll through… There are two things to pick from, food and parking. NOTHING about getting gas. GooglePay is extremely difficult to figure, far more than it needs to be. Again, I’m only using it because I have a customer who only uses it. Apple Pay is worlds better than GooglePay. Please! Let me buy gas with it!!!!

Trash - DO NOT USE ANYMORE

Google pay use to be PERFECT. I would send money from one of my cards to the other without using Zelle (too complicated doing it when it’s your money to your other account), cash app (didn’t want to do because of the fees to deposit), and I definitely didn’t want to wait 3-5 business days for my money to be available in my account when I need it NOW. Well they’ve completely changed that. They won’t let you back into the old app where all of the magic was. You’re being forced to use their new app, where you HAVE to pay fees to deposit into your bank account or else you HAVE to wait the 3-5 business days. I use to conveniently switch back & forth from gmail to another since they had different cards.. well if you log out of Google pay, they completely DELETE your information & you have to re-add your card & information every time you log back in. I’m deleting GooglePay & I suggest you do the same because for all of this, you might as well you cash app. At least with cash app, you get a card to use if you want to use your money immediately. 🚮

Easy Cash to Pure Trash

This new app is one of the most aggravating apps I have ever dealt with. Please believe the 1 star reviews, these people are all correct in what’s wrong with GooglePay. From new transfer fees to the invasion of privacy to collect and sale your data for targeted marketing attacks. The most frustrating aspect is having to force your friends to download GooglePay as well in order to even send them money. You can’t even put in a friend’s gmail account address without first forcing them to get GooglePay . On top of that, I don’t know where they are pulling phone numbers for contacts because the number for my sister was wrong and didn’t even match my phone’s address book. GooglePay refused to accept her new number as the correct point-of-contact so I could never send cash.

I’ve never had an app change be so infuriating. I’ve been in IT for 20+ years and am fairly tech savvy and GooglePay was so frustrating to figure out. They buried the purpose of GooglePay for some stupid money-making gimmicks. I can’t recommend GooglePay at all. Just awful!

New version a flop

Used and loved Google pay for a long time. Used to be able to receive payments that were automatically deposited to my PNC bank account. Now Google pay can no longer connect directly to my bank account, and deposit has to go through my debit card for which I am charged a fee.

Tried contacting Google support, and their response was basically that It wasn’t their fault the Plaid platform they just started using isn’t accepted by PNC, and told me to contact PNC to try get them to change their policy.... So I guess I’m now supposed to get one of the largest banks in the country to change their security policy? (I think the issue between PNC and plaid has been going on for a few years now, and is a result of Plaid and similar companies trying to circumvent PNC data security protocols, so I don’t really expect this to be solved any time soon, but you should definitely fact check me on that)

May be good for other people, but Google pay no longer is capable of doing what I need it for, so I don’t plan on using it anymore.

TERRIBLE UPDATE

Google pay was the first and only money transfer app I’ve ever used and I LOVED it. It was a simple interface and a super quick and easy to send money to my mom (not very tech savvy) and friends when we’d spot each other money every now and then.
The new update interface is really convoluted and confusing to use and all my contacts have to download a new app and add each other again (and jump through hoops to do it). After I sent my mom money to pay her bills, we were surprised with a brand new 1.5% debit transfer fee that SHE would have to pay to get her money instantly. Instead, we had to give google access to our bank accounts and wait 1-3 business days to get the money without the fee.
Needless to say, we both are deleting GooglePay .
Google is a already billion dollar corporation that monopolizes a big chunk of the tech industry and hardly needs money to cover debit transfer fees. I hope Google reads these reviews of people saying the same things and will see what a big mistake they’ve made.

DON’T UPDATE APP!!

I don’t know who’s idea it was to make a new app for google pay. This is the worst thing ever. The older version of GooglePay was by far the easiest thing to use, for me ever better than cash app or other apps similar. This new app is way to complicated and not easy/ friendly to use. There are more fees in the new app that there wasn’t in the first one. You also have to re-enter all of your banking and card info and they don’t make that easy either. They made a new app when they should’ve just updated the old one or make it easy for their consumers and have all of their info already put in or transferred. They also try and force you off the old app. If you have the old app and send someone money, that person won’t get it because you have the old app but it will still say that it was taken out of your account and you and the other person have to get the new app to get the money with a fee being charged when there was never a fee in the old app. If I could give a no star I would!!!

Read before creating an account!!!

I was trying to purchase a watch from a site that didn’t accept Visa or Master cards. I had a bad experience with PayPal and have been leery of third party money transaction sites. I thought Google Pay would be better established with security features, but what they ask for when establishing a functioning account is suspicious! First, they wanted the typical info like name, address, birthdate, last four of my ssn. So, I’ve already shared substantial sensitive info about myself and then it asks for my full ssn. I reluctantly shared since this is info needed to establish a credit card…but still found this odd. Now I have one foot deep in the Google web and I couldn’t move beyond the personal identification page until I provided a copy of my driver’s license, a piece of mail with my address and worst of all a COPY of my social security card! I felt like I was joining the military again. Please use caution when using these apps, big giant companies want too much info!

Disappointing

I usually don’t write app reviews, but I felt this one was a must. I absolutely loved the old Google pay, the reason this money transferring app was my favorite was because it offered everything the other apps did not. From instantly receiving transfers to your debit cards at no cost, to switching out payment methods. Now this new Google pay is heading in the same exact direction as Cashapp, where they want you to keep your money in their app. If you wish to do an instant transfer, they will charge you a fee. Only way to avoid the transfer fee is to transfer to your bank account, which can take up to 5 business days!

It is unfortunate because the old app was perfectly fine. It was free and easy to use, and in my opinion well above the competition by a landslide. On top of the new unpleasant features the new app brings, it is also confusing to use. No changes were needed, Google dropped it on this one, and I no longer intend on using their app to transfer money.

Hahahahaha

I enjoy reading apple users who post worst comment or bad review. Why google pay? I thought…..wait….no.....i knew google stated once that google doesn't charge anything but then now customers of users are not free anymore. Congratulations google. Amen. I’m proud to be back to Apple Pay and cash app even though I don’t have banking account so I don’t have to go to the banking building nor worried about getting charged fees. Nah. Apple Pay and cash app don’t play at all as far as I know for sure I love enjoying Apple Pay/Apple Cash and cash app forever. Not PayPal, other unheard new companies. Nah. I do love google organization except for few features that are required to be paid for subscription. No thanks. That’s why I use my iCloud email forward to gmail instead so I use it as iCloud and gmail is secondary. Not back up. iCloud yes cause it doesnt need all peoples info exchanged. Just contactless payment instead of no credit card and no cash. Simple. Sorry hit google search is awesome as free forever.

Bad product and customer service

I didn't know I used an offer by using the card I linked to Google Pay and I needed to return an item due to the quality issue. I did made another purchase on the same day that meet the offer requirement with the same card. The offer only recognize my first purchase and it can't be removed at all.
First, under the offer information, there is no clear words saying, make a purchase with the card in store will activate the offer. Second, it doesn't make sense that once the offer activated, it cannot be deleted, and it can't track other transactions.
I can't believe as a well-known tech company, Google made such a bad product. Even the offer in other banks can track other transactions. The customer service is worse. I asked to speak with their supervisor and they told that their supervisor would reply same as them and refused to let me talk to the supervisor. I would let people know do not use this product.

THERE IS NOW A FEE FOR INSTANT TRANSFERS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

Are you kidding me? First off, the new interface is super convoluted to start. It took me a hot minute to figure out how to simply send money in the first place.

Secondly, it is SO buggy. It has this “stutter” that I can’t explain, that makes it extremely annoying to use. I am running an iPhone 11 on iOS 14.3.

Thirdly, and the worst part: Google Pay will now charge you a 1.5% fee for instant transfers to your bank account. This is where I draw the line. Google Pay was the best money-transfer app for so long, because I could send money to any of my family members who quickly needed it, and it would hit their bank account instantly. Or my roommate could send me his half of rent/utilities and I could pay it all outright, right then & there, because it would hit my bank account instantly. Simple. It was what set it apart from Venmo, Cash App, etc. And now it’s just the same as any other, but with an awful interface. No thanks.

So many issues

I downloaded this to participate in the reward program with some friends and I can’t say I’m impressed. From the start it’s been nothing but difficult. I have had a google account for 12 years but for whatever reason it didn’t believe I existed and made me jump through a million hoops to verify my account, which is still not verified. I did a text verification, an email verification, I took pictures of myself and sent those in, I gave them my social security number, I scanned in pictures of my drivers license, I sent them a copy of my lease to prove my address, and the list goes on. It’s just ridiculous. I think it’s great that they’re taking safety seriously but this is just absurd. I spent hours collecting all the information they wanted from me and they still don’t think I’m a legit person. I think it’s safe to say after all of that and STILL not having my account verified I’ll be sticking with Venmo and PayPal

By

It’s fast and good with few downsides

It work fast. It’s reliable but sometimes payment gets stuck and you will have pay twice to shop and stuck payment gets cleared after few days. It happened with me but luckily shop owner was from locality and known person so he adjusted that amount afterwards otherwise those money could have gone.
Rewards:
Till about 150 you will get rewards usually for payments but after that almost 90% of time you will get “better luck next time”.

Slowest and unreliable payments App

App is very slow almost whenever you use it, irrespective of good or bad network.
Their cash back offers and promotions are a scam.
If your payment fails, your transaction remains in processing status for for close to 3 days and the money will be gone from your account and receiver wouldn’t have received it and god knows where the money is until the money is put back in your account after 3 days (or depends on their slow system).
Other payments App are much better.

By

Worst App i have ever seen.

After using it for more than 6 months. It cleared all my payment history in GooglePay and logged off me from GooglePay .
When i logged back in it never showed my payment history or transaction history everything is new again. The history matters to me and guys don’t use GooglePay.
Please try to encourage our indian apps like Phone pay and Paytm please.

I am quieting from GooglePay and deleting this worst app from my phone.
