Flashfood: Grocery Deals Reviews

We are fairly new in using Flashfood. We have had very good success.
However, over the weekend, we purchased a listing described as “Navel Oranges 72 Ct”, with a picture of a huge stack of oranges. Every other purchase has been as pictured on Flashfood . When picking up the merchandise, we were told the package was for 10 oranges. We requested a refund….was told to apply to Flashfood . Not being aware of how successful that would be, we opted to take the smaller number of oranges.
Mid afternoon yesterday, I sent an inquiry asking how we should have handled the transaction. Today, we received a very nice response, and, a credit for the full purchase price. It was stated that they would be addressing the matter with their team and the team at the store.
So, a very prompt response and a courteous conclusion. We would highly recommend Flashfood, and, hope more stores will participate.

I’ve been using this app for a while, and I do plan on continuing to use it. It is hit or miss, and buyer beware. There are quite a few things that need to be improved. First of all, it’s impossible to get a hold of somebody from the CS side of this app. They don’t respond when you have an issue. Second, there’s no way to hold the stores accountable for what they are listing. I’ve had stores misrepresent items a few times now, and since no one responds from customer service side of this app, you’re stuck with garbage that you got. The store is not responsible to give you a refund, and since you’ve already paid, the only way to get a refund would be to go through this app… And we already know where that one ends. I’ve also had, several times now, people will take my items that I bought, and leave their items that may be less desirable. This happens quite frequently with produce where somebody will take something that is not theirs even though the produce is clearly labeled. At least it is clearly labeled as the stores that I’ve been to. Again, there’s no way to recoup your losses on this because nobody replies from this app, and the stores are not responsible for these items.

Flashfood allows you to save money and is the real deal. You just have to use the food quickly because it is about to expire. However, it’s a great way to save money. I do wish there was a kiosk to check yourself out because I find you have to wait for an employee to come over unlock it and get the food for you which is a little frustrating at times particularly when they are busy and in some stores where it is not always in a location that is right near someone like a self check out. Overall, great value and hope to see more food added to it in the future. Super easy to use simple and intuitive.

I have had nothing but issues while trying to use Flashfood. First of all, my local store just received a cooler with no further explanation, meaning they have no ability to confirm pickups or remove them from your account. They apparently need a special electronic device to complete orders, and without it essentially anyone can just walk into to store and take whatever they want. If you are honest and bother to use Flashfood , then “available pickups” just sit there forever until you contact customer service.

Until recently, customer service would clear the orders from your account when contacted… eventually. Their customer service team is insanely slow, and seems just as uneducated about how Flashfood actually works. Their latest email to me says that due to vague “policies” in place, only a store employee can remove a pickup from your queue. And it takes several days just to hear back from them. It’s not worth it, don’t waste your time on questionable food that could be bad before you even get home.

Prices are pretty good. App is easy to set up. Flashfood search function doesn’t search. The only option is to look through each store’s available options. Only 5 stores, all the same chain, are in my state and item photos often don’t match the product description. My main concern is in store fulfillment. In 2 different stores, all available items are kept in locked refrigerator/cabinets at storefront. Orders are not pre-packed and items must be searched for and packed by employees upon pickup arrival. This seems like an unnecessary step and the employees look miserable having to do it, especially if pickup is at a busy time in the store. Stop and Shop needs to do better. I understand protecting inventory but remember the goal is to minimize waste. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be.

I first found this app when shopping at a grocery store. I wondered what the special fridge and shelves were for. After placing multiple orders, I’m happy with Flashfood . It’s so easy to use and save half off most things. Most of the products I’ve ordered expire in a few days but still look great. I usually just freeze the meats for later and give my chickens the not so great produce. Some store employees don’t seem too happy having to get your order, but most were great. Instead of wandering around grocery stores looking for sales, you can shop on Flashfood to quickly get what you want.

I do like Flashfood because I like saving money and I like that we aren’t throwing so much food away. The thing that would make it so much better is if you could actually see what you’re buying when you click on the item. You can’t scroll in to see dates and ingredients and things like that. You can’t really even see the amount that you were buying in many cases. The pictures are blurry when you scroll in. Thanks!

I downloaded Flashfood because I like the idea of discounted foods and reducing food waste. So far I love it aside from the following two things! There are two issues. I placed an order and picked it up, and noticed there was a LOT of food inside the this app cooler that was not listed on Flashfood . Things like ice cream, pastries, fruit boxes, etc., all things I would have purchased. I think this is a store issue

UPDATE:
I thought there was an issue with billing, turns out when you pick up your order it doesn’t disappear from Flashfood . So I have 2 receipts across 2 days, but both orders are listed as waiting for pickup. It would be nice if there was a way to confirm pickup so that the items disappear from your cart:)

I love this program. We get deal and less food is thrown away. The only issue I have had is buy stuff and it not being there at all or stuff is missing. I then have to waste time at the service counter and have them return it but then it goes on a Meijer give card not a huge deal as I shop there plenty but if I give you my money I shouldn’t have to except a gc I should be refunded my money. Then I have to go back in the store once the item isn’t there to get the item at full price cuz I have now shopped for a meal according to what I was getting from this app.

Don’t look at expiration dates most of them are in place because the manufacturer wants you to throw away those cans for food products and by Neil everything that I have purchased through Flashfood has been 💯 fresh and well worth the purchase price. I am super picky because I am a executive chef! So everything that I purchase for the restaurant it’s always super fresh and so is everything that you get out of this refrigeration unit at Meijers don’t hesitate folks try it today

I absolutely love using this app it really comes in handy for that last minute grocery shopping and to make it easy to use .. I always use before I start work this way I can pick up when I leave our store and it is so easy to pickup with no issues .. it’s quick and works great for me .. Im so glad they made this program available for not only for us employees but for our valued customers… Thank you Meijers

Really been enjoying Flashfood! It’s helping me save money, try new foods, and help limit food waste. I hope more stores start to use it as it’s not at my preferred grocery stores yet but I’m willing to go a little further to help limit food waste. At the store I go to, you have to tell the customer service desk you’re there and they always seem to not know where the paper is or where to write down my name, but otherwise it’s been good!

I have a grocery store across the street from my office that participates in this app so I check for deals at least once a day. I usually make 2-3 purchases a week, usually meat. Amazing deals to be had if you check regularly. You’re going to be getting stuff right at the end of the “best by” range but I’ll fine throwing it in the freezer and taking it out when I’m ready to use it. Cut my grocery bill substantially.

Flashfood is perfect for those who love stocking up on near to expire meats, breads, fruits, and dairy. Cheaper than sale items! Allows you to choose store locations and shows pictures of items. Easy checkout process once registered. I’ve been using Flashfood for a year. Never had one problem!

It would be an amazing app except the stores give you no information on how many pounds all the meat is. Also my stores don’t go based on the sticker price so sometimes sticker price they go based off the retail price. Which means you think you could be getting a good deal but no it’s half off the full price not the sale price which ends up being more than the sale price most times. The stores also use the wrong photos for things quiet often and it get confusing.

My son works at the grocery where this service is newly offered. So I downloaded Flashfood and took a look at what was offered. Not much, nothing that makes it worth my while to do a separate “shopping” trip, nothing that can’t brought for sale prices if you’re a conscientious shopper. And I’m not taking a chance on the $5 produce box.
Ultimately I don’t get it. My store already has a bent and ding section. So I guess that’ll be going away because a third party got involved.

It is a mini-adventure seeing what is available each day at the several Giant Food Stores in my area. I find that I am able to try things I would normally deem too expensive. Also, it leads me into meal plan combos that I may not have come up with if working from the context of my normal “ruts.”

I do not keep apps that REQUIRE location tracking. While you could choose to only allow while using app, there should be the option to search by zip. There isn’t. I will be deleting.

Didn’t get to see stores or get a feel for what type of deals are offered. You can’t see, do or check anything out without giving it location tracking. Don’t know what I’m missing out on, so I won’t be missing it.

Had to give a star - but wouldn’t give it any. Downloaded and deleted within 5 minutes.

Flashfood has offered a new life to fruits, veggies and more, labeled “on the way out” by my local grocery stores. Their loss is my gain as my family and I benefit from dramatic price decreases that stretches my budget. The ease at which you can use Flashfood and easily pick up your pre-ordered groceries also contributes to my five star rating!

… like at Woodward and 13 Mile in Royal Oak, Michigan. Their upscale retail mix means the this app selections will usually have something interesting for today’s or tomorrow’s dinner. The bigger Meijer stores, when they support it at all, skew toward a bunch of cheeses or a few big cuts of meat, I suppose depending on which department manager gets involved.

i have no idea how Flashfood works. i’m sure it’s a good app but i can’t us it since they only have locations in Canada. I’m not sure if I should give this a high rating or a low one. it’s impossible to expect any app to have every single city. Just letting anyone know who doesn’t live in Canada, they have not locations so far outside of Canada.

I have been using this app for over a month now. Very simple to use Flashfood and very convenient to place the order.very happy with produce so far.

Do not download and waste your time. I came across Flashfood through targeted ads that said it was available in my specific area. Downloaded app, and after going through the whole signup process, Flashfood tells me there is no service locations for 1,700 miles!!!! When I mentioned it on Facebook, the company left a smarta55 response and deleted my comment.

Would never recommend. Deleting account and uninstalling.

It’s a good idea and there is a location in the Superstore I shop in. However the lack of ApplePay makes it a nonstarter for me. I’m not willing to give me credit card to yet another on line service that is just waiting to get hacked. Accept ApplePay and I’m in. Until then I’m being generous with 3 Stars

I love Flashfood and use it all the time to save tons on food I wold normally buy, PLUS it saves said food from being wastefully thrown away! Win, win!

Flashfood and store experience is exceptional. A must have service for anyone that wants to save money or save the planet.

Enjoy Flashfood , HATE the fact that I’m charged an “International Service Fee” EVERY SINGLE TIME I buy from Flash Food. So far I’m out over $5, just in fees. They never mention their international status, nor the potential for additional fees. Very deceptive.

Wish they would have included in Flashfood description: “only serves Canada” to save me some time. I hope they make their way to Michigan soon.

Awsome app

I keep location services turned off unless I am using directions. I will not use Flashfood until I can search location by store or zip code.

Another in a long line of apps I've tried recently that will not allow you to use Flashfood until you turn on location settings and allow Flashfood to have access. I keep location turned off on my phone at all times for privacy and security reasons. These apps are useless if they don't include a zip code feature where you can add custom locations and get deals based on that. I will be deleting Flashfood.

Update: developer response totally ignored my issue. If you do not add an option to customize locations by adding zip codes Flashfood remains useless to me since I am not foolish enough to give location access to any app with the exception of Maps, and that one only when I need my GPS. Any app that requires location access to function gets deleted, just like I deleted this app. I would consider trying it if you add the feature I requested.
