Mercato: Grocery Delivery Reviews

This is my first time writing a review, but after my experience I feel compelled to warn other people. I ordered one item to be delivered on the day after. I got a couple of messages on the day of scheduled delivery stating "your item is on its way!". great. At the exact time of delivery, I receive a message stating that "your order has been canceled, we apologize". Not the best thing, since the communications before had implied that everything was proceeding smoothly, but ok I decide to give them another chance. I order the same item from another shop in Mercato . again all communications and messages tell me that everything is proceeding smoothly. i get a notification stating that delivery is near, the courier will be there in the next 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, another notification tells me that the courier missed me because they could not reach me, and ask me for options to reschedule another delivery. i had been at home the whole day. no ring bells, no knocks, no calls. nobody showed up. My building is in one mayor street in manhattan, very easy to find, and with a doorman. i have never had any problem with deliveries, not once. until today. What a scam. I would have preferred some honesty, telling me that they could not deliver. extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Beware!

We recently started to use this app because of the limited grocery options in our neighborhood. Without a car, this is an excellent resource for specific ingredients or access to butchers (ours remains closed). Mercato is simple to use and all of our couriers have been speedy and friendly. We would definitely recommend and plan to use beyond Covid for speciality items.

Placed an order through with this app for a catering order a week in advance. After successfully placing a hold on the credit card (by their own account) I got random email saying the credit card was declined. Called customer service and they confirmed the order was in good standing. Received a similar email the following day and called again and they noted they would get it taken care of immediately. Sunday, this app cancelled the order. After a 3rd phone call, they said they would escalate it immediately. Emails back and forth started coming and it sounded as if I cancelled the order (which was not the case). They stopped responding and my order was never processed. Had to scramble last minute to get food for the work function. Worst customer service. Would not use again.

I love being able to order groceries online from my local market. They always do a great job.

Unfortunately during my shopping, Mercato froze and when I reopened it, the delivery address had been reset and YOU CAN’T CHANGE IT IN Mercato after placing the order, no matter what the happy sounding recording on the customer service line says. I’ve been on hold with customer service for 15 minutes listening to the same 45 seconds of talk loop. I’m going to claw my eyes out. It’s the worst. For the love of god, play me some smooth jazz or I don’t know, offer to call me back. You know it’s bad when the DMV gives better customer service.

I decided to splurge on the $35 delivery since it was my anniversary, I didn’t know I was going to be treated like dirt by this app staff. I asked for a 5-6pm delivery window. It’s 6:39 pm and they JUST delivered. When I called to inquire about the delay, the rep snipped at me “well, we marked it as delayed. So you’re going to have to wait. We can’t control traffic!”

I know that. I also know I selected an expensive delivery window and it was missed by a mile and you’ve lost a customer for life. I called the merchant and let them know what I was told and they were horrified for me and are hoping to make it right so I still shop with their company. I told the merchant I recognize it’s this app at fault and will never agree to pay an arm and a leg for convenience again.

Learn from my mistakes.

this app does not make sure their vendors are selling what they say they are selling. I’ve been searching for a specific kind of kn95 masks and was so thrilled that one of their merchants have it as it was listed with the specific picture of the brand I was looking for. When I received my masks it turned out they were the bootleg version and the kind that’s hard to breathe in. They even had a punch hole in the bag so it’s not even 100% sterile! Everything is still sealed but merchant would not let me return. I spent $50 and am now stuck with 10 bootleg masks.

Cons: it’s a pretty outdated app and they could use some better user experience on their apps/website.

Pros: the shops that deliver are specialty shops

It’s impossible to get in contact with them after an order is placed, you’ll receive an automated response and then nothing. The date on my order CHANGED halfway through checkout, I was attempting to cancel the order. I got an automated email response that my request was being worked on. I then received a call several days later that the butcher was still waiting for me to pick up the order. Nobody from this app contacted me nor acknowledged my request for cancellation, then when I called at that point I was told there was nothing I could do but pick up the order. Well, now I have $100 of spoiled meat in my kitchen, so thank you this app. For nothing.

I’ve been using this app for the last ~4+ months and have been very impressed. I used to use Instacart for grocery delivery, but I 100% use this app now. I love that I can buy my groceries from local stores, the stores always feature everything that I need, and the deliveries have always been super reliable. Highly recommend using this app!! :D

I started using this app for grocery several months ago. They offer fast delivery from neighborhood stores that aren’t available anywhere else, with unique and high quality products.

Glad to have the convenience of online shopping while supporting local business!

Mercato is terrible one the way you navigate bounces you back-and-forth so that you end up potentially ordering from multiple places when he didn’t intend to. The inventory is not effectively fed from platform participants to the system so you end up spending all of us additional time trying to work on potential substitutions. Sometimes so many things are missing that your choices are either to pay the full tip and full delivery fee for a fraction of the order or cancel and have to resubmit.

I bought $20 worth of items and I its been over 10 days now that I am still waiting for a reversal of their separate $102 charge as a transaction hold, that they do not warn you about. So for $20 worth of items, it has cost me $122 . I’m very upset about this and still waiting to have my money reversed.

Mercato is awesome! I love the design. It’s very easy to use. We were able to order same day groceries from a local store rather a giant retailer. I love supporting local businesses. There delivery rates seem fair and they don’t charge you hidden service fees. Great job on Mercato! I’m going to use it more often instead of Instacart.

When I first read the reviews I was a bit skeptical but we have ordered several times now and love it! I even had a great experience with customer service when I had questions about billing. Works great for our family!

Not as user-friendly as it could be. For instance, it’s difficult to find where to click to shop for groceries, a basic! Also, it wasn’t clear that I need to access mercado through the grocery store website rather than the other way around. My recommendation is that you work on a more intuitive sight.

I’m a frequent shopper on this app in multiple cities. I am always impressed with the quality of my products and the service overall. Mercato will now make my shopping experience so much quicker! Thank you!!

I love the fact I can get my meat delivered from Guerro’s because we know it’s the BEST! My 4/5 stars is related to Mercado’s. Mercato is a bit confusing because when I open Mercato it says I can shop at 13 stores. Is that included in my plan or do I have to pay those crazy delivery prices?

Received horrible customer service from Mercator rep Lacey. My ice cream pints were forgotten and instead of calling the store to find out what happened she insisted on a credit to my account. I wanted a refund. Mercari is the most expensive grocery shopping out there. Because of that, they should provide exemplary service. I had to call the store myself and who knows if I ever got a credit. They also refuses to give back their shipping fee and service fee. If the order is wrong you should get those back.

I like supporting local grocery stores through this app. I wish that this app would urgently add the option to allow shopping carts from different shops to be checked out individually, rather than the current system where all active carts must be checked out together

Unfortunately my first order had a few hiccups. I received a different product than I ordered and was charged for the product I ordered. Also some of the meats had today’s sell by dates which I guess is more of an issue of the store . Looking forward to trying it one more time

I’ve discovered a number of independent grocery stores in my area thanks to Mercato! I love getting fresh ingredients delivered, having a variety of items to shop from, and supporting local businesses all at once.

this app offers delivery within an hour from my favorite independent grocers. I’ve ordered hundreds of times through the website and I’m really excited that they now have a mobile app to make it even more convenient for me to order my groceries on the go. Thank you this app for all that you do and for supporting my favorite independent grocers.

I order all my groceries through this app. Mercato makes it easy to find my favorite grocery stores, and they deliver right to my door so I don’t have to waste time going to the store and waiting in line. A must-have!

Already used this app online, love the new app, made ordering from my favorite food shops even easier. If you haven’t ditched the trip to the store already it’s 2020, you should, & these guys make it seamless.

I’ve lived in New York and Chicago and used it in both locations. Best grocers, best produce and easy deliveries! I’m excited to use Mercato when I’m on the go.

Mercato is great, easy to use, and allows me to quickly and easily order grocery delivery from my favorite local stores. Love it!

I get all my groceries delivered through this app, it’s super easy! Don’t need to wait in line at the store, and the stores they work with are very high quality :)

If you get a free trail you won’t be able to cancel it, customer support doesn’t answer, no answer on phone lines and there’s no button in their app to cancel trial before getting charged 235$ I will be disputing this with my bank and claiming fraud.

Love Mercato , the interface is friendly, and the company does a neighborhood good. Five stars!

When trying to setup Mercato , the “Save” button to set the delivery address doesn’t work.
