App experience terrible but devices are amazing

1 out of 4 RGBW2 would rconnect and upgrade firmware in ShellyCloud . The other three would fail to “connect to the cloud” resulting in a failure to adopt. I found the archive firmware link and manually upgraded all devices. I use Home Assistant exclusively but figured I would give ShellyCloud a try. It’s horrible. It’s disappointing because the devices are so great and I fear people won’t use them because of this terrible app.

Of the one device that did connect if found the “room” requirement to adopt (if not hidden) clunky I also didn’t find it easy to move devices to different rooms.

Really Shelly should push Home Assistant and their hardware more and ShellyCloud less. I’ll give it a try next update but would not recommend at this point in time.

Work perfect for me

This is a great app for controlling Shelly devices. I had trouble finding an adding devices initially because the instructions are a bit confusing. After going through the instructions a second time, I was able to figure it out and have not had any more trouble adding additional devices.
Note to Shelly - the instructions could use some improvement.

Won’t connect, won’t find

Same experience as others - ShellyCloud keeps throwing errors about being unable to find the device, then try resetting a dozen times and you may get lucky, but even after finding the device it says can’t connect (even though my phone is directly connected to the Shelly AP), then the device disappears

impossible to add any device.

the product idea is amazing, but ShellyCloud is so complicated! Too many option, not so simple as Tuya. And to add a device is a pain! ShellyCloud find the device then you can’t see it on the discovered devices. The company should focus more on the UI than having 100 products that wont be able be used.

Great job

Worst smart home app

Easily the worst smart home app I’ve ever used in both UI/UX and functionality. Extremely unintuitive and terrible at adding/managing devices.

Appcrap!

Can’t even register a new account!

Awesome and economical

I have four Shelly One relays and three Shelly bulbs. All of them work well. I experienced difficulty with one of the bulbs initially. However I wrote an email to customer support on New Year’s Day and they responded the next day. With the information they gave me I was able to restore factory default on the bulb and get it working. The Shelly one switches are probably the most economical methods of integrating your existing bulbs and switches into a smart home. ShellyCloud runs almost flawlessly and has more functionality than many other smart home apps. The devices allow you to utilize protocols for open source platforms without flashing custom firmware. The cloud service integrates well with Alexa. This is one of the best solutions on the market. Replacing your existing switches is a waste.

Massive headache

I can’t even start to put into words what a frustrating mess ShellyCloud is. Once you can get the hardware associated with Home Assistant or something similar, the devices are great. But getting there... ShellyCloud makes me want to smash the dang things with a hammer. It’ll pair a device and then that device will disappear into the ether. It won’t be listed anywhere, and you can’t reconnect to it. You have to restart ShellyCloud over and over and over and MAYBE the device will eventually show up so you can configure it. Even when you connect *directly* to the device via its WiFi access point, it still says DEVICE IS OFFLINE. Ok, then how am I connected to it? Fantastic hardware, but maybe the absolute worst software of any IoT device ever created.

Needs work

I’m not one to quickly make a bad review but using ShellyCloud is frustrating. Adding devices is painful and I have over 50 WiFi devices in this house so I know the process well.
At this moment when adding new devices that app doesn’t allow me to quickly choose which WiFi network I want the device to connect to. When devices become discoverable or still doesn’t connect correctly even though I only have my phone connected to one 2.4 WiFi network. Please work directly with the community to properly test and roll our future versions...

Works as advertised and better than expected

First off, ShellyCloud is feature rich and well designed. I’ve used an app for another iot switch from China for a while. ShellyCloud blows it away. The switches themselves are great too. Fit inside a regular light switch, and allow the switch to still be used. You have to double flip the switches to use them manually, but it works! I’ll be buying more.

Unbelievably frustrating app

Did you guys even test this on an iPhone?? Seems like ShellyCloud is just a portal to your website. Simply put, it DOES NOT WORK. Options don’t fit on screen. Buttons don’t work. Control of light bulb can only turn it off and on and that’s only when it’s working. Congratulations you have made THE single worst app I’ve ever tried to use on an iPhone. I bought one of your bulbs because the price was great, little did I know the cost savings is negated by the inability to control it. And controlling it through Alexa etc. doesn’t work either. Very disappointed. 😖

Working great except....

Using a temperature and humidity sensor and it’s all working fine. Updated firmware without trouble and it has been sending data to the servers. My only issue is that ShellyCloud keeps losing the login information every couple of days. I have to reselect language options and the re-enter my login. Seems like a bug. Otherwise, I’m very happy so far (couple weeks in.)

IOS 14.5.1….screen shifted?

Updated to a new phone yesterday, installed the Shelley app, log in, and now I can’t access my switches. I think the whole screen is shifted. Can you look into this?

Terrible terrible app.

I don’t even know where to start. ShellyCloud is buggy. Very buggy. My biggest problem now is sometimes it’ll work well - showing consumption for Shelly 1pm and following schedules. Other times it just quits. No consumption data, no timers work, no schedules working. It can last for days with no resolution in sight. This terrible app is enough of a deal breaker for me to not use Shelly products. They make some great hardware by the way. But what’s the point if it’s unusable ?

By

Literally unusable

I read the reviews thinking it can’t be that bad. It is I can’t believe they leave this in ShellyCloud Store. I went to add a device, need to be connected to Wi-Fi I was connected to WiFi. Close ShellyCloud do it again it asks for what WiFi network even though I’m connected and I get no options to select a network.

The message page crashes. This published app is worse than any app I’ve ever seen and I’ve tested friends and co-workers pet project apps

Horrible experience

I tried adding the device through ShellyCloud - it didn’t get discovered after adding.
I even tried going through the other videos and adding the device to through the ip- the device was still undiscovered. Horrible experience - please go back to your drawing board and fix your networking issues. This was my first Shelly device and I’m not getting another.

Frustrating

You don’t expect the official app from a company that makes reliable smart switched to be unreliable but alas... ShellyCloud is trash. It’s frustrating how many times you have to exit, restart, reload, go back, anything to get things to reflect reality. It’s good to have something to use when you first get the device but I am forced to replace this with another smart home system.

Beautiful hardware

Hardware is fantastic
App, on the other hand, is the worst possible iot app.
Why in the world do I need to type the name of the wifi? There are no clear instructions when to switch networks. Ended up resetting the device several times. 4 hours later still no luck on making ShellyCloud work.

Crashes on every open now :(

Crash when I open it. Deleted. Redownloaded. Same thing. Nice hardware though.

Dysfunctional and a Waste of Time

There’s a reason why an electronic product app was categorized under “Lifestyle” in Apple AppStore. So u change ur lifestyle just to get it to work for a day perhaps when u have some kid nephew u want to show off ur smart things...But then...

Nothing works. It doesn’t connect to your lights. Says “Loading Will Take a While.” If you are lucky to get into ShellyCloud , you can’t even change your internet preferences. Will say “Failed WiFi State” or something like that. The device itself overnight will disconnect from WiFi. This means ur connected lights are no longer smart, which is the mean reason, the only reason to have purchased the device in the first place. Only connects back when u literally go to ur garage or backyard to power off/on ur circuit breaker powering the area the device is probably reconnected. Ridiculous. Even at that, their app fails to respond with failure dialogues popping out but only ur Alexa app can get it to work if circuit breaker is turned off and on. If not, even Alexa app or HomeKit will say “server not responding” or something to that effect.

Shelly App and device is an experimental garbage! The client support is virtually useless or nonexistent. I had bought 4 pieces of the Shelly1. The cost of returning them to Bulgaria was nearly as high as purchasing so I am tossing them in the trash, eating my losses and taking my angst to write an unapologetic true review of my experience.

I won’t recommend this even to any foe, which I don’t have except with them now, I won’t recommend this even to them, Allterco Robotics Shelly1 Cloud. One star was only to get this review completed. It’s 0. Zilch. Nada!

Junk

Hardware doesn’t have a lot of clear documentation and even YouTube lacks support (that should have told me some thing). App won’t recognize my WiFi connections (tried several). Total waste of time and money. I even tried resetting my network settings to no avail.
