NorthwesternMutual accomplishes what everyone needs. “Simplicity” with all the changes in technology, I understand why there are limits with the capability on NorthwesternMutual, because Northwestern Mutual wants their advisors to maintain a client relationship with the clients and most people have no business making many changes to accounts without guidance and direction as to what they are doing and trying to accomplish. NorthwesternMutual works very well, user friendly, shows all transactions in accounts, easy to navigate and read. Pairing NorthwesternMutual with the computer online log in view, the capabilities are greatly expanded with the online computer platform.

Connected my accounts, good to see everything in one place. I like the ability to connect properties (maybe on website only) along with accounts for a complete picture. Clean interface, not too many tools but good for simplicity. I hope I don’t have any trouble with accounts getting disconnected as I’ve read. So far so good. I’m impressed how much better the website and app have got over the past couple years.

I have been tracking my money using both NorthwesternMutual AND the Northwestern website for years. I make screen dumps of the total money from both apps every day for my records. The data shown from NorthwesternMutual is ALWAYS WRONG. This is bad. If people only look at their data using NorthwesternMutual, then they will never have the exact data they need to make decisions. Just login to the website and look at your money total, then compare to that from NorthwesternMutual, you will see they never exactly match (depending on how much money you have, it can be thousands of dollars wrong)! I have contacted Northwestern about this numerous times, including sending them the screen dumps showing the differences. They never even attempt to fix it.

Update August: Apple sent me another email saying NWM responded. However it was the same exact response. Did they simply repost? Does Apple resend email after a long time? Lol. Who knows. I’ll take the time to re-review app.

I had reviewed earlier that login sessions were expiring a lot. (Last December) like I said after getting another email that the developer “responded” I wanted to let people know that for me the login sessions are much better. App is functioning all well.

Again Not sure if NWM really responded again to get me to review or if Apple had a bug in their review logic sending duplicate emails 8 months later. Lol.

I have over $2 million with this company and NorthwesternMutual is worthless. App does not let you track your account mutual fund investments specifically. Doesn’t compare returns to market indices. It is so easy in 2019 to provide real-time quotes for the municipal funds I am invested and compare them to market indices, chart performance etc. Compared to financial investment software from companies like Fidelity Vanguard Schwab etc. it is a complete joke. Over the last two years I have invested over $1m outside of this company only because I can’t stand the lack of feedback and ability to see what my investments are doing. Hey NWM, take a look at other investment companies apps to give you some idea how to do business with your customers!

I wanted to do a quick “pop in” to check my last payment made, and was surprised to find the info is not available; I was directed to the main web site, and still couldn’t find it.

Why bother having a app at all?

But, this is just one more in a series of NW not understanding the customer’s perspective or needs.

Must have updated. Worked reasonably (see below for serious limitations) prior, for several years. Suddenly, no accounts. No Northwestern accounts, no bank accounts, ...nothing. Still all there when logging on computer. Not worth reconnecting 15-20 accounts. Deleted NorthwesternMutual .

This never had the features of, for example, Mint. Not really useful in terms of being able to look at your data in multiple charts, etc. you can categorize your spending, but can’t really do anything with the data after you spend the time categorizing. I won’t really miss NorthwesternMutual .

Having the ability to see all of my Northwestern Mutual family planning as well as being able to link all of my outside accounts like bank, retirement at work, etc. has made it really fun to track our household net worth and continue towards our financial goals! Love NorthwesternMutual!

NorthwesternMutual has a lot of great basic information regarding balances and recent activity. The interface is easy to use. Where it lacks is in-depth info on growth of accounts as well as options to make changes or deposits. Hope this is added soon!

Everything about NorthwesternMutual is great, except when trying to connect to my 3rd party accounts. I’ve never been able to connect my credit cards for more than a few days. When trying to “fix” the SSO experience is so buggy and awful- it never works. Because of this, it’s not a true snapshot of account balances and net worth.

The NM app is buggy and should be an embarrassment to a company that prides itself for its long history as a mutual insurance company of serving its owner customers. NorthwesternMutual fails to report timely results as it always at least a day behind, has a hard time displaying trends without reporting something went wrong error messages, and is so feature limited compared to other financial apps. NWM needs to up its game and bring in a top notch team to completely rewrite and test an app worthy of the company.

I’ve had NM for years. And for years I’ve experienced their site being down, their app being down, and my accounts constantly needing fixed or updated because they get disconnected. I think their program and people are great, but it’s all completely useless if you can’t even login to take a look at it all. I am seriously considering dropping everything with this company so I don’t have to deal with their abysmal technology anymore.

NorthwesternMutual is very functional. I like the ability to see my spending habits & account balances anywhere I am. The security is tight, which is great.
Would love to see more visibility to my investment accounts asset allocation and have the ability to deposit money from NorthwesternMutual .

Was great until it now logs you out forcing you to log in all the time and no longer recognizes Touch ID. Very cumbersome now.

Update-the update seems to have fixed these issues so back to working great. Thanks for the fix!

I enjoy being able to look at my balance of all my accounts in one place. Unfortunately, recently it stopped automatically updating the balance requiring me to fully log out and back in to get my current balance. Definitely not as convenient as it was here this issue arose.

It would be nice to have contact information for the team members that actually process many of the administrative tasks. It would be very helpful to see the whole team. Rob is often not the primary contact for many requests.

Thank you for the great accomplishments in the further development of these valuable online tools. Having been a more frequent user over the last couple of years, I have seen a quantum improvement. Great initiative and teamwork!

NorthwesternMutual organizes our entire financial picture in one place. Tracks our progress toward our goals, loaded with easy to read resources. I’d highly recommend!

This has always worked very well. Last update broke NorthwesternMutual . Log into the website ok but not through NorthwesternMutual . Please fix this. I’ll update the rating once it’s fixed

I easily pay the payment in NorthwesternMutual when I receive this notification.

So I have a handful investments as well as bank accounts so it’s like 12 all together my point is I would love to be able to arrange them you know put the 6th one at the top the middle one to the bottom maybe I want to arrange then by the amounts or what investments were first. I just would really love to be able to arrange them in my preferred order. Other than that actually NorthwesternMutual is close to 4.5 then 3 cause I love having all my accounts attached that’s my favorite part of NorthwesternMutual . 😄 Thank you for your time and consideration.

Our check was lost in the mail and our life insurance was at risk for being canceled. I was able to pay my bill online and under two minutes, and keep my life insurance in force.

NorthwesternMutual is very user friendly, I would like to see it so that when making payments you can enter your own amount that you wish to pay. Example if you want to pay $150 a month, it’d be nice to pay a portion each week or more depending on how your finances are that month.

I was nervous and I forgot the young ladies name that helped me get into my IRA. She wa so helpful and knowledgeable and I was a wreck. It sure helps to talk with someone is so nice and explained everything I needed to do. I’m so sorry I don’t remember her name. Hopefully you will know her name. She is a great asset to your company. NorthwesternMutual is days behind on information, even in the middle of the week. It is currently showing me updates from Friday afternoon, but it is now Tuesday. There is no excuse for that in 2023, really makes it impossible to stay on top of your numbers. It also frequently doesn’t load my account. It will say “couldn’t open accounts” and gives no explanation as to why. I’m connected to the internet, other applications that use internet are working just fine. But NW mutual fails to provide necessary information to it’s customers.

Since the newest update to the Northwestern Mutual app, the widgets are not fully utilizing the widgets space on the Home Screen causing black borders to exist around the NM data, this just started happening with the newest update. Hoping this will be fixed soon.

Signing up was easy, creating the account wasn’t an issue, but filling out any of the information on the health history is not possible on NorthwesternMutual in its current state. After navigating to the proper tab to begin the questionnaire and tapping on that, it brings you to a separate screen in NorthwesternMutual to verify DoB and SSN after which you must accept the terms of service - all standard practices. Only downside is after you do this it brings you back to the verify DoB and SSN then into the accepting terms and again. I did this 5 or 6 times to see if it was just a glitch. Got the same thing. Closed out NorthwesternMutual and tried again with the same result. Tried accessing it through the pending questionnaires and it brought me to the same page, after closing it out it brings up a page that breaks down all of the perks of going through NWM and what they offer, it asks you what type of policy you want to look at and after selecting the policy that I spoke about with my rep, it just said “we will contact your rep and he will follow up with you shortly”

I work in close proximity to other app developers, it really isn’t hard to fix these issues. To see it from a company that has so much backing is astounding.
