Worth it

This is the best star app I have ever seen. You can scroll around the sky manually or tilt your phone to show the position of the stars and even the sun and moon. You can also change the level of “light pollution” to see more or less stars. Tapping on a celestial body yields more information (this is the part where you get ads- Mostly banners.) The planets also show up! Even the fabled planet 9 makes an appearance (no, not pluto :( ) constellations and stars are named, and are traced out as you look at them. An unobtrusive picture of what the constellation “looks” like also appears. This is so useful!!!

Here later, while taking an astronomy class: Honestly, I don’t think I could love an app more. There’s so much detail put into everything. Without the little alerts, I never would have noticed the goings on in the night sky, and might’ve never even taken the class! 10/5, absolutely the best. I use this often enough that StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap has probably gotten more money from the ads (which only show up when you tap on a star, and even then not every time) than they would if I just bought the full version.

Buyer beware, ads after purchasing

Star walk 2 is my go to app to find what I am seeing in the sky. It’s not great, most everything is behind a paywall, but it does the trick. That has now changed with my first purchase of the “satellite” pack purchase. Since I purchased it, every swipe/gesture/press or anything at all triggers an ad where there was not one before. It completely ruins StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap . I did not spend my money on your product to suddenly be inundated every 3-5 seconds with a full page trump/pence ad. I would be upset with any extra ads after spending hard earned money...but it is a slap in the face to have my phone display the name of a criminal egomaniac every few seconds. I have requested a refund and will be deleting your app after my refund is processed. I’ll make sure to avoid all apps from this publisher for life. Good day, you’ve lost a customer.

Response to publisher : I did see ads the entire time I’ve used your app, so your bug guess is not accurate. what I did NOT experience before paying you for an upgrade was trump slogans splashed across my screen multiple times between every touch of the screen. I don’t use your app any more, I’ve got no interest in ads to the point of making StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap unusable. I also have no desire when I’m stargazing to have politics shoved in my face repeatedly, there’s enough of that these days.

Exactly what I wanted plus some

I think the free version of StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap is great, so awesome that even though the free version has all that I needed to know (we had mars hanging in the eastern sky and Jupiter in the West every night for the last month), I’m considering just upgrading because the information about the stars and planets is so much fun for all of us. Even driving down the highway, without internet service, the calibration to my phones compass kept everything where it was suppose to be.
I was concerned after I read the first review that I wouldn’t be able to find the information we were asking ourselves all month due to adds, but up until I used a notification about the international space station rising to open StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap I hadn’t seen an add at all, except for when I would click on some planets and stars for more information when I would get a suggestion to upgrade for the extra planet information.
Very cool app.

“Ad-free” still send ads. Don’t buy!

I purchased the full “ad-free+” bundle and most of the ads disappeared, but they still send advertisements through the notification system. The last one said “Grab all-in-one Bundle with a huge discount” which is clearly trying to sell me something and thus an ad. When I complained, they said it was not an ad but a notification and I could turn it off. But notifications are an otherwise good feature of StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap which tells you of astronomical events, so no, I want to keep them on, but without the ads that I payed extra not to see. They finally “thanked me for my opinion”. Nothing was done about this. Don’t pay extra for ad-free as they will not honor it. There are other astronomical apps out there, hopefully more honest.
......Thank you to the developer for replying. To the developer my answer is: a message about “sales and special offers” is a message selling something, which is an advertisement. It’s an ad. To think that it isn’t an ad because you sent it through the notification system is wrong. It’s not just that they “bother” me. I paid your fee for no ads. So don’t send ads. Give me what I paid for. It’s that simple.

This is awesome

I really liked it because I often stargaze when I have nothing to do at night with my telescope. Alongside my telescope, I also use StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap to coordinate where I’m aiming my telescope and it’s cool to know what star I’m looking at as well as how far from earth it is in light years, also considering at how old the light from that star is projecting (i.e a star 157 light years away tells me I’m looking at a star that has current light 157 years ago. It can be kind of complicated for people who don’t know what I’m talking about.) but the only annoying thing is that every time I close a star to look at a new, it gives an ad. This is okay with me, so long it isn’t excessive. But I do tend to mute the ad so it doesn’t ruin my peaceful experience with the already beautiful soundtrack. But I’d totally recommend StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap to anyone who is a stargazer like me.

LOVE it!

Got the full version to learn more about space, and, well it has surpassed my expectations! I love that it has short articles about space things happening; I have leaned about some rare events I didn’t know about. Please keep articles up for longer if possible—it’s nice to go back and reference them. Another great feature is you can see the sky change by minute/hour/day/month to see how the constellations look at any given time, from any direction. The only thing I would fix is allowing for an easier transition between moving the sky view with your fingers to moving the phone direction with your hands to orient yourself with where things are. Maybe I am just doing it wrong. But great great app. I also purchased the kid app and satellite app.

All the Glitters

Star Walk 2 is amazing!!! I love how it offers a way to try out before purchasing! I truly recommend the “no ads version” as when you are stargazing and everything is shifting so quickly when viewing in your telescope, you don’t want to waste time waiting through an ad. It’s also a very good price to upgrade and I really appreciate the experience they have put together! I love all of the little tidbits of information and the AR mode. You can also set the constellations to different views. I like when they connect but are just stars while my friend likes the images on top of them. There are so many little tweaks to customize the experience! A month or so ago we spotted Jupiter and Saturn with our telescope. Just an amazing complementary app!

My Favorite App

I VERY rarely leave reviews for apps, but I feel like I should here. StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap is so much fun to play around with for an amateur astronomer. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been outside at night and friends will ask me to open it to tell them what something is. The AR works really well and helps identify things I wouldn’t have been able to place. It also helped immensely when I went with my girlfriend weeks ago to try and see comet NEOWISE. I also would recommend leaving the notifications on for StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap (which I usually always turn off) because the alerts that tell you what to look for are always interesting and concise. Thank you for this delightful addition to my backyard stargazing.

It could be a great app, I think

... but some features don’t work so well, or I haven’t figured out how to use them. For example, when moving my iPad pointing at the sky, it’s not displaying the right direction. I may be looking north but it is showing west, even after calibrating it. If I can get some of these important features to work I’ll buy it but without them it’s worthless, even as a free app. A HUGE issue is that I am trying the free version to see how I like it but the ads make it virtually impossible. You can’t exit some of the ads, sometimes you get 4 or 5 ads in a row, you get a new ad(s) when you touch the screen and you have to calibrate it every minute or so.

I also read a review by “angleyes715” who bought it but can’t restore her purchase after changing phones - and customer support won’t help with it.

That’s a deal breaker, time to delete StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap . Too bad, it had such great potential but there are too many similar apps to waste time on one without customer support.

Adds are out of this world

I love StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap and it’s really solid in my opinion but the adds are so relentless. I had 8 add pop-ups in less than a minute. Its so frustrating, but worst is they trigger adds, meaning if you make an action, add pop-up, I was even stuck in a loop where I would close out the add and try to get out of the menu I was on and it kept popping up! Please reduce the adds.

Okay, thanks for the response but, why can you not control the adds? It seems to me your just lying at this point. I read a review claiming the exact same thing over a year ago. 14aggie or something like that. Saying the exact same thing! Really I don’t mind the ads it’s just the amount, 8 adds in less than a minute. I know it’s the free version, but really? Memberships other ads etc. I can’t even leave a section of StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap without ads popping up . C’mon.

Okay looked through more reviews... yeah please stop lying... review from TWO YEARS AGO by PISTA HOUSTON explaining the same issues with distractions and add pop ups..

Star Walk 2

I started using the Star Walk app back when it was called just that “ Star Walk” now we have progressed up to what we are listed as of now.
Simply put it’s one of , if not the best app for those of us who really enjoy the heavens !
I have used others but most get started and stop about the time you get interested and StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap supports stop or there’s no updates or increased input of informational data. Not here they are always updating or creating “ add-ons”.
I sincerely enjoy StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap and the wealth of knowledge it pertains and constantly being add to. I have learned so much, because it’s so
Intuitive. Thanks to all of the gals & guys that play a really le in keeping us informed & enthralled !

Hooked on this!

I have had StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap for a couple of years now and I still haven’t enjoyed everything it has to offer. Fantastic for beginners, easy to use. If you know what it’s called, it will point your phone to it! I would experts would like the “ease” of StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap for stargazing. One my favorite features is the night mode, very easy on the eyes and doesn’t temporarily “blind” you. StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap sends me notifications of special events (not what to buy,)there’s a great “what to view tonight” tab, enormous amounts of information with 3D views you can move! I can not recommend this enough. If you enjoys stars, you already want StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap.

OULD BE a Great app, but in-app purchases don’t go to a new phone 😡

I loved using StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap , but I got tired of the ads. I purchased the whole she-bang in app bundle and was very happy. I would think that since I’m signed in to the same iTunes account I was on my last phone, it would carry my in-app purchase. I was angry when I found it didn’t. Now I’m stuck with ads again. Even when I hit the “restore” button, nothing happens. I mean nothing. I could push it a hundred times and nothing. Would be 5 stars without this issue.

UPDATE: After contacting the company as they requested, several emails back and forth later, they asked me to send proof that I made an in app purchase. I had to dig but found n email from Christmas time 2 years go. I sent them the screenshot in an email, offered to FW the actual email, and that’s when I stopped hearing back from them. This is unbelievable. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Very disappointed.

A great app in concept, but frustrating!

For the most part, StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap seems great! Interface is relatively easy to use, with easy menus and lots of information included. However, the ads are incredibly distracting. I understand you need apps in order to make revenue, but having a 5-10second ad pop up every single time you click a celestial object seems a bit overkill. I’d almost suggest playing longer ads less frequently as a better alternative. Also, if you’re downloading this to see the comet Neowise, don’t bother. Location tracking for the comet is advertised in StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap Store as a feature, but it seems to only work if you purchase the upgrade. ($5.99) Great features and really interesting ways to see the sky, but not super helpful for a casual observer who doesn’t find it worth it to invest in the upgraded version.

Amazing!!!

I’ve always been into star/planet gazing. After searching for a good app on my phone to learn more about space, I cam across StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap. A-MAZING!! I started out with the free app, but quickly purchased StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap to get the full scope. Oh goodness, we’ve enjoyed Mars, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter for the past month right in our backyard!

The information StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap provides is so helpful to us novice stargazers. I even look forward to the notifications to learn even more. StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap has been so helpful to my 5yr old to learn about planets and stars- she’s always ready to go outside and discover more.

Thank you for such an amazing app!!

ads

You did not read my comment. My version of starwalk 2 was not useable. ads disabled StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap ... I guess you designed that feature as well? Confusing. I did revert to your previous version which is also free and deleted the current version we are discussing.

"We are sorry that ads spoil your impression of StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap . We appreciate our users and created 2 versions (free ad-supported and paid with no ads) of Star Walk 2 to give them the opportunity to try StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap without paying for it. A lot of users enjoy the free version regardless of advertising. Having a choice between the paid and free but ad-supported version is better than not even being able to try StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap without purchasing it... Hope you understand."

cant attempt to test it, ads kill StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap ... thank you for the response.

I do understand it is free and “ad supported”... but that is misleading. It is more like StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap supports the ads. You dont have to annoy people into buying your real version... simple ignorant (ignorant... not stupid) responses such as the one you provided, they simply make us hold StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap and press “x”. You should delete this rating, because others will see where I am coming from. Thanks for the response and StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap . I will find another.

Good overall but one minor issue that causes major frustration

This is a great app that has helped greatly for finding celestial objects, especially when using a telescope, but one problem makes this extremely difficult when planning in advanced. When you are in the compass/AR mode, if you try to change the time to see WHERE a celestial object will be at a given time, the compass/AR mode cancels/ disengages, causing a lot of difficulty in finding where (for example) Venus will be (in comparison to you and your surroundings) at any given time. Thanks if you could please fix this, it would surely earn the fifth star to this review.

and again for e

Sad I can’t use with my family because it’s set up as an IN APP PURCHASE. Would rather pay to buy the whole app than each family member. I kind of see this as a low blow.

I now understand that in app purchases are not allowed. Forever more, I need to review the fine print and detail before I can know and accept the terms. ENTERTAINMENT! This is the essence of the interest in StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap. I am no longer entertained! So sad that the limitation to share with family is couched in an in-app purchase. Cheap blow to all of your saddened customers.

Great app to learn about the night sky

I recently moved out of the city to a rural area with less light pollution that offers up a better view of our cosmos. StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap is great! It offers a point and shoot guide to the constellations. Click on a star or planet you find interesting and it offers up a close up picture and a very detailed description of what your looking at. StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap has me hooked to spending an hour or two every night learning about what humanity has been fascinated with since our beginning. I highly recommend!

“Music to my ears”

I am well pleased with Star Walk 2 and Solar Walk 2. Exactly what I would expect for a stargazing app.
Although I don’t believe you should spare the details, more information about the stars and their names, history, and awe-inspiring facts would be nice, because it is a pleasure to learn about stars through StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap.
To the main point I wanted to address- the music is perfect. I have always loved the celestial sound that StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap provides,(it is good for my spirit) and more of the same would be perfect, because I listen to the music even aside from StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap .

Ads ruin app- do NOT get

I’ve read the reviews but thought I’d check it out to see what’s what- and no, StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap unusable and worthless for its intended purpose. All it is is a “sucker” app, hoping people that wanna use it right and get something from it get so mad by the adds they pay the money just to not deal with it- made more obvious by the robotic response from StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap developers when anyone mentions this in the reviews. Ya, we get that we are getting the free version so have to deal with adds, but the frequency of the adds makes StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap a waste of space on your phone and they lose a significant amount of people from irritation that aren’t gonna buy the add free version out of spite. The developers need to have a FUNCTIONING free version that shows people they could get MORE from a paid version NOT just a lack of irritants.

By

Now it’s perfect

Inloved the first Star Walk, it was beautiful. However, all the visual interest made it very difficult to identify the stars and constellations that are physically visible overhead — and that is the great joy of astronomy.

When I walk my child in the stroller at night to sleep I have been learning the stars and watching the changes as the earth moves through its orbit night after night. Its a perspective that has changed my life.

Anyway Star Walk 2 lets you dind the visible stars where Star Walk 1 was great for perusing the invisibe heavens.

love this app

I just found out about it and I absolutely love stars and constellations my favorite christmas movie is serendipity because I love stars and constellations and it’s just romantic. I have always thought of stars to be romantic and I love learning about the constellations and what each one is. To be able to have an app to see the stars and constellations virtually is really cool. I absolutely love the fact that it’s live always and shows you a real depiction of where they are in the sky at any given time. This is the best app.

By

Just what I needed

I’ve taken an interest in constellations 🌌 recently and I’ve been trying to look up the many kinds, but I could never really soak up the information right. But after my brother showed me this, I finally have something that helps me visualize what I’m looking at! And the fact that it gives me information about each constellation is just so helpful.

Doesn’t track Orbital Reflector

I downloaded StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap to track the Orbital Reflector and this feature definitely doesn’t work. It will display it rising in the southern sky and then setting in the northern sky 3 minutes later. I’ve tried on multiple nights to view it. If you leave StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap open for too long the tracking looses function. So instead, I’ll close StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap , refresh it, and it shows the object in a completely different place in the sky. There’s no way it traveled across the night sky in 3 minutes. What a crappy app! I was told this is StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap to use in order to view this object, but obviously this feature does not work at all. What a bummer!!

Can’t even test it with the excessive ads

I want to try StarWalk2AdsNightSkyMap before I buy the full version, but seemingly every few seconds an add takes up the screen. I can’t even view the stars due to this. Please change this

- update:
The only apparent fix by the developer is “if you don’t like the ads pay for no ads”. Well, I actually want to see if it’s worth my money before I purchase an app, which is not possible with the excessive ads. The developer knows this problem, however they only care about your money, and not satisfaction. Please download other versions that are not money pits. I will change my review if I see this problem fixed.
