Only 15 Sats & Unsubscribing Near Impossible

After trying the trial version and being disappointed that I could only evaluate it with the ISS, I purchased a subscription because the price seemed so reasonable. Once I saw the subscription had only 15 satellites, I immediately tried to unsubscribe. As many others have pointed out in negative reviews, unsubscribing is nearly impossible. I experienced the exact same thing others did which is that the "unsubscribe" link in SatelliteTracker is broken and takes you no where. While I do not believe SatelliteTracker is intended to be a scam, the broken unsubscribe link IMMEDIATELY makes me suspicious. I had to spend 10 minutes googling to figure out how to forcibly unsubscribe by going deep into the iPhone Settings app. This is really a shame because with one exception, the design and functionality of SatelliteTracker itself seems pretty good. The only annoying thing about functionality (other than only tracking 15 satellites) is that you cannot zoom in on the globe to see precisely where the satellite is passing over. You can only see the whole global from space and get a rough visual idea of where it passes over. If SatelliteTracker had warned me ahead of time that subscribing only gives me 15 satellites AND if the "unsubscribe" button worked so it didn't give the impression of being a scam, I would have rated SatelliteTracker 4 out of 5 stars. Those two things would have saved me and many others a great deal of frustration. I do not recommend SatelliteTracker at all.

99 cents

Most of us lose 99 cents in a couch cushion in a day. It's cheap. 99 cents for like 3 months I think and it's easy to cancel. This developer is doing us a solid. I also like that it's not complicated. It has to be simple so the average person can enjoy it. For the more advanced science nerds out there, there are bigger better more appropriate tools. This is for the novice. I don't want to be a rocket scientist, just a casual user to have simple fun with. There needs to be more satellites though. One new one per month or something. It's fun to see a satellite then open a tab and google and learn its history and stuff. What would be REALLY cool is to have a live forum for the ap users to chat with while seeing the satellite travel across the sky! Link users and satellites. It would be cool to know when a person "sees" what I'm seeing in real time 400 miles alway. More user interaction...more of a collective experience. Also, maybe integrate the live camera feeds for iss into the page so you can track and watch....I have a stupid powerful laser and I'm dying to see if I can see a tiny green dot on the camera if I shine it up there. Boy wouldn't that pizz off the flat earthers if you could see it live on camera in orbit!

great application ruined by bully marketing gimmicks

Dangle carrots in front of hungry horses. Nice program although the software industry needs to get the hell out of my face. I pay for my operating systems and I’m sick and tired of the marketing gimmicks that theses competing companies bomb and clutter our daily use of our devices. Thus company related to this great application in the way they choose to deliver it they are guilty of false advertisement and should be held accountable for wasting people’s time along with all the other companies cramming thus stuff in our faces. Because of it I will never pay them a penny for this application , great application but crummy business ethics:! I hope this helped

Why did you have to change what wasn’t broken?

I liked being able to see which satellites were passing overhead at the instant I was looking at the map, but after the last update that function is gone! Now I have which satellites I’m tracking and those I’m not; I have to manually choose from the hundreds of satellites in the lists and manually add them to the track list. I used to enjoy tracking the ones going overhead but now I don’t even know which one or where to find it in the list.

Please give us the option again to see which ones are overhead at the given moment! It’s one of the two reasons I decided to spend money on SatelliteTracker , the other being I like how it showed the ISS information.
The list of satellites passing overhead as it was happening was what set SatelliteTracker apart from the others. Taking that away just dropped the usefulness of SatelliteTracker for me.

Super Cool App For Spotting Satellites!

SatelliteTracker really works! I keep track of which satellites I’ve seen by taking a screenshot of the projected path when I’ve spotted it, as well as the “satellite’s view” of my location as it passes over. Note that sometimes satellites are in the earth’s shadow and can’t be seen, or may be too dim to view if you have a lot of light pollution in your area as I do. For the latter situation I find a bright star or planet near the projected path and then scan the area with binoculars as the satellite is supposed to be passing by. My favorites so far are ISS and Hubble which can both be quite bright!

Not Very Useful

Hopefully the developers will continue to work on SatelliteTracker as it has great potential. However, for now, it’s not very useful.

For example, in an environment that is not pitch black, when it’s already difficult to see satellites, SatelliteTracker doesn’t help the user orient their phone in the sky. The view is very wide angle, and apparently can’t be zoomed. And, the text is too small to read, and I couldn’t find a way to increase the size to make it legible.

Plus, even when a satellite is named, I didn’t find an easy way to get useful information about it.

Lastly, perhaps it’s illegal to identify US government satellites. I don’t know, but that would be ridiculous since China, Russia, Iran, and every other country track our satellites. In any case, the reason I downloaded SatelliteTracker was to learn about the three satellites-in-row that travel over my location each night. But nothing. I can see them clearly, but SatelliteTracker doesn’t even display them.

Maybe this is a great app for someone, but for me it was a disappointment even though I subscribed to gain access to the extra features.

Satellite Tracker

I am only interested in ISS (the Space Station) & Hubble, NOT every satellite that comes within 400 mi. of my residence but (& I am not tech savvy at all, I’m 70) but I get the same “notification” (sound + drop-down notice) for EVERY single satellite, which interrupts whatever I’m doing & I cannot figure out how to block all the others! I’ve asked creators. Most space apps give too much extra junk (like cartoons over constellations which i hate.) Finding a simple app is hard. Used to be app called ‘star junk’ point phone @ star & get name & designation (blue super-giant). Period. Many fans. Quick, easy CS

Wow ! Take a look from space, what a world !

Wow ! Take a look from space, what a world !
This offers you different views from the space station and it really makes you think that if you were up in that space station what would you be thinking of seeing the vastness of space versus the earth down below. It can be both very enlightening to the other extreme very scary.
I am myself I could not spend a day up there I’d be terrified.
God bless the men and women of the international space station.

VERY SIMPLE 👍🏼

I've been enjoying SatelliteTracker for multiple years. Probably since it beginning 9 yrs ago. It now has an annoying bug. The degrees in "Elevation Above The Horizon" is reversed😩. luckily most of us can tell the difference. And I have checked and dbl checked my ios device, and compared it with friends device. Same thing😞.
AND hopefully soon!, You will add "Starlink" Satellites in the mix. 👍🏼🤞.. I would gladly pay $$ for the upgrade!
Keep it safe, hopefully Covid isn't affecting developers.

Such A Rush!

My friend in Cali told me about SatelliteTracker. I set it up, turned on the alert, and waited. When the alert went off I went outside. SatelliteTracker told me where to look in the sky. I watched the satellite fly over my head in Norman, Oklahoma! He said he had to go because he was going to watch the same satellite fly over his head in another 40 minutes! The insane part was that the satellite was headed east! Forty minutes from Okla to Cali going the long way! Super Cool!!! Hooked for life! Gonna tell everybody I know!

Yes!!!

Had an app like this years ago and really was not impressed. But on a recent camping trip with the kids , I thought it might be worth another shot. Worth every penny!!! (It was free.) The first night we spent at least an hour playing with SatelliteTracker , handing it around to everyone, and generally enjoying it. I thought the fun would have worn off the second night, but it didn’t. Looking forward to the next time I’m somewhere at night and can pull this out to see and learn more about the night sky.

Alerts you tho ISS is in shadow?

The visuals are very nice. You get three views of the ISS position plus the ability to point your phone at some of the brightest stars and see their names. When ISS passes, center it on your screen and your phone will be pointing at where to look.

I am disappointed that SatelliteTracker tracks satellites besides the ISS only if you subscribe. It’s there in the fine print; so, despite the fact that I’m going to immediately uninstall SatelliteTracker , I can’t ding it any stars for that in the rating.
- - -
I’ve retuned to deduct three stars. I’ve gone out to look for the ISS three times and not seen it. Perhaps it’s in earth’s shadow at 7:15 pm in December; but if it is, SatelliteTracker ought to have calculated the brightness and not alerted me.

No HAM satellites

If you are trying to use SatelliteTracker to track HAM satellites SatelliteTracker is not for you.
It only allows to view a limited list of satellites, which is fine for spotting them in the sky.
Because of this I am giving it a three star review and will be trying to unsubscribe.

Update: unsubscribes without issues through the “unsubscribe” option within SatelliteTracker .

Note to the developer: can you please add FOX-1B (RADFXSAT AO-91)and FOX-1D (AO-92) HAM satellites to the tracked satellite list?
Also, feel free to reach out to me about other HAM satellites that could be added.

Will re-subscribe (Along with thousands of other HAMs around the globe) once the HAM satellites are added.

Update:
Developer’s response did not address SatelliteTracker not having HAM satellites for live tracking. Dropping the rating by one star since it seems the developers are not even willing to acknowledge the issue exists.
Here is the reply from the developer:
"Thank you for downloading Satellite Tracker. SatelliteTracker was made specifically for real-time satellite tracking in the sky."

Finally!

My first month of having SatelliteTracker I never saw the ISS. I was really frustrated and disappointed. However, after doing research online I realized that I was looking at the wrong times. SatelliteTracker will notify you of every pass that the ISS makes but the catch is that not every pass is visible. You can only see the ISS about a hour before sunrise and about a hour after sunset. After realizing this I was able to successfully see the station. It was very cool! Great app!

Dad with kids

Problem is that SatelliteTracker does not give the order of passes by satellites. It makes you click on each followed satellite to see the next pass. That is a pain in the neck.
Another problem is that SatelliteTracker gives alerts about the next satellite pass but when you click into other satellites in the list you find one that is passing sooner and at a better viewing time - like when it is dark and easier to spot and observe the pass.

By

Incredible!

SatelliteTracker lets you see the positions of stars in the sky at night and during the day. All you have to do is hold your phone up in the direction you want to see and planets, stars, and satellites all appear there before your eyes! It is so cool to find a certain planet or constellation on the virtual map and look up and be able to find it in the night sky. If you or your kids have an interest in astronomy, SatelliteTracker is totally worth a download!

INFORMATION

Lacking even the basic information on any of the satellites and history behind them? Should be able to see weeks into the paths they’re going to take, need information of the Astronauts and what type of experiments each one is researching!

But overall it’s a great application! You do have some great features to it as well, I do love it when you can see the earth rotate as the satellites pass and I wish though that there was a pic of the actual satellite instead of the pulsating dot...

The best review of the worst app ever

Whoever made this has an extremely low IQ. The clouds on the globe move way too fast to be realistic. When you first open SatelliteTracker it asks you if you want to use the current positioning or use manual positioning, I live in FL and it put my location in Africa. I couldn’t even change it. You can’t see any satellites anywhere, the only thing you can do is move this replica of the earth around and check out all the countries which is pretty cool, until you realize that the Pacific Ocean covers half of the earth, and China to Europe is another half of the earth, and then the Atlantic and United States is the third half of the United States.

Best tracker ever

I think this is the best tracker ever. I always use it and show my parents my parents love this tracker we always look at the ISS (International space station) and I have a question how did you get all those satellites to except your request to track them and what do you mean by real time tracking? Please right a response I know you are probably busy but if you can please respond thanks 😀

Terribly misleading to even say there’s a free version

SatelliteTracker looks like it could be amazing, but I can’t tell because I can’t go five seconds of exploring it without having my screen taken over by a full page ad that lasts for five seconds before giving me a close option. I’ve tried to scroll through the list of visible satellites but on my second swipe up, SatelliteTracker takes over and takes me back to the subscription page. Make no mistake, this is not a free app. It will be unusable until you agree to subscribe. As another reviewer said, they use bully tactics to get your subscription. False advertising.

By

Accuracy

It seems as though the time accuracy is not very good. For example two nights ago it had the ISS at a certain time but it did not appear. 10 minutes later it appeared clear as could be.

I’ve cross checked it with other apps and the times are not the same.

Also I’ve never been able to see the Hubble or any of the other satellites and I suspect it’s because the times are incorrect.

Love space

I became interested in ISS. When I saw my Orlando meteorologist make an announcement you all were coming near me. I stay up that night, did not see immediately and had given up
,and then I saw the shuttle, I am scared of snake, I danced in my back yard. I phone everyone to tell the good news. Now I can’t wait to see you all a second time. Until then I will keep watching and waiting for you all to pass my way.

Great app, but missing a zoom function

......I KNOW YOU CAN ZOOM BUT LIKE ANYTHING ELSE IT SHOULD REMAIN THERE UNTIL YOUR DONE. You have to use both hands one for zoom and one for moving the screen.
Other than that small feature this is amazing.

One other thing, on the satellite link where your up close with the ISS looking down on earth why does it always look like it’s a bad fake digital produced picture? Not sure the point of that link other than you can see little parts of the earth from it, then again because of the photo/video quality I never had the desire to try and do anything since part of it looks like it’s become pixilated and trying to upload which I don’t have time to wait for it to.

So far those are the only things I have issues with other than that amazing app.

App rating

Could be a little more information on how SatelliteTracker works. Would only want to be notified when a satellite is passing over my location that I could see. Price is a little high for what your getting and there are several free or lower priced that does the same. Maybe not as nice in the graphics but your just wanting to find a satellite then try some free ones first.

By

Cool, thought out and designed to easily use find satellites you want to see in real time

Voted best app off 2016 which tells me its three years old. But after using it around ten minutes I would of never known I was playing with a older app. It’s fresh. Good graphics if it was just out. Maybe major updates kept it so good. If all your looking for is to know where the important satellite’s are in real time. It’s going to be hard to find a better app.

CD43

Great for tracking the International Space Station. To track other satellites, they want a subscription of .99 cents every three months. That sounds odd. Why not $3.99 a year instead of every 3 months? Otherwise no complaints. I like SatelliteTracker but the subscription should be yearly, NOT every 3 months. Hopefully Vito Technology will change it to a yearly subscription. They make excellent astronomy apps.

Tommy Wray   2 years ago

The app has been working fine. But now everything comes up correctly except for the satellites. It says there are no satellites to view. In the All, Tracked, and visible sections when tapping the Satellite icon in the top right corner.
