WORTHLESS

Chats are not “anonymous” as they require significantly detailed information to “create a profile” before anyone will actually provide assistance. DOES NOT ACTUALLY PROVIDE FEEDBACK OR GUIDANCE!

More Comedic Than Anything

I have put feedback after the so called “chat” session with the representative so to the company who made TELUSHealthStudentSupport you should be able to find it. I understand for some people this is there job, however, the lack of personality was almost comedic in of itself. I am completely bombarded with information and with that god forsaken question, “What do you think triggered that feeling?”

And this company wonders why users don’t like TELUSHealthStudentSupport .

The copying and pasting with no such formatting did make me laugh out loud because it does show how out of touch this company is with people. These poor “single session counselors” have done this over and over again that they have become completely numb to subject matter to almost machine-like capabilities. Quite frankly, I want to see how well ChatGPT does with counseling.

Whoever heads the review platform, I challenge you to bring it up to your supervisor or team lead for TELUSHealthStudentSupport. Don’t even bother responding to this review, I rather see if someone in that corporate ladder actually cares enough to improve the platform you are offering to the hundreds of thousands of students, workers, etc rather than get a “We are sorry you are not satisfied with app. Would you mind going to *insert link here* for feedback?”

Honestly, if your response bot does respond to this review, I already know your answer.

Insulting

Not even close to an equivalent to counseling. The fact that this sorry app is what free therapy was replaced with at a certain Chicago school is disgusting. I feel no comfort or confidence in TELUSHealthStudentSupport.

Poor Design

Could never get services due to poor design of app for phone. Impossible to hit “save” button.

Don’t Chat With These People

Really wish I read the reviews first. Trying to get help and being let down so hard just feels terrible.

Rude counselor

Tried to make an appointment with a counselor. The counselor immediately hung up when the appointment began, attempted to follow up and restart the call. The counselor was extremely rude in their response to me and refused to meet during the scheduled appointment slot.

Meh

Didn’t have a counselor available over chat or for a call. They offered to have someone call me back which may be fine for some people but if I need to call, I it’s because I can’t wait.

Cannot get past the sign up

Once I press proceed, I am immediately sent back to the page where you are requested to fill out your personal details. This occurs regardless of whether I press deny or accept permissions. I wish to use TELUSHealthStudentSupport , but cannot get past that screen.

Terrible service

I went through my schools website to find this because I was having a difficult night. I told the person my issues and they responded with “I’m very sorry to hear that.” And then left the chat. Horrible and no help at all.

Cannot finish sign in process.

The 24/7 support that this service promises would be way more valuable if it was possible to access on literally any platform. I tried to use the SSP chat online but couldn’t because of a glitch, so I downloaded TELUSHealthStudentSupport. I have typed in my school name multiple times and ~absolutely nothing~ comes up, so I can’t even finish registration. Amazing.

Horrible Service

TELUSHealthStudentSupport is horrible. Not only did the chat glitch out and not allow me to type in the message box, the “agent”, Wain, didn’t allow me even 30 seconds to reply before disconnecting. I already felt alone and like I had nobody to talk to (hence trying to use TELUSHealthStudentSupport ) and then the so called counselor can’t even spare 30 seconds for me to respond. It was incredibly disappointing and only made me feel worse. Don’t waste your time on TELUSHealthStudentSupport.

Why even offer a chat feature

I already have a counselor I see often, I just needed some support and reassurance. I didn’t even get to talk about what was upsetting me, the counselor claimed that’s not what the service is for; only to provide options.
I know what a fidget is, I know going to the gym helps, I know that talking to loved ones can help with stress. I am not a moron- I believe anyone with stressors in their life knows these things. I just wanted to vent, to not feel alone, not to be belittled like I don’t know that drinking water is good for mental health. God. Get some human beings who can talk like human beings, not robots spewing facts anyone could find in a mental health pamphlet.

Useless

Terms of service states that opting out of your information being used for data collection purposes will not affect your ability to access care. However, you cannot access the chat function without consenting. Terms of service also states that you do not need to opt-in sharing with your institution, but again, you cannot access the chat feature without doing so. It seems as though TELUSHealthStudentSupport developers just want you to accept the TOS and consent without actually reading it. After attempting to deny the opt-in/out screens multiple times, I decided I needed to talk to someone more than I cared about my information being shared with my school/collected for “research” purposes. I was then met with two useless counselors who took too long to respond and did not attempt to discuss my situation at all. Overall, TELUSHealthStudentSupport is pretty much unusable. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Needs fix

What happened to the chat via messages option? It’s grayed out and keeps telling me “service is unavailable”

Counselor was sooo unhelpful

They made me feel worse

Work in Progress

The psychologists involved are really good, but there’s a lot of software glitches that become barriers to support. I like the articles though, and I like that the counselors are NOT specifically trained to weed out clients that aren’t “sick enough”

1) When you click to start a call/chat, you wait for awhile (5min) to talk to a person who is THEN supposed to connect you to a counselor (if you’re waiting anyways SSP should directly assign you to a counselor after you click the right button)

2) The chat interface is very slow and the time stamps for each message takes up too much page space. I would like to see “read recipts” and “typing worms”

3) Sometimes getting a phone call is worse than text and it was difficult to get a phone call from SSP at a delicate time at home when I needed to keep it to texting

Wanna be gaslighted?

I was using TELUSHealthStudentSupport to have someone to help me with grounding when I needed that. Many folks were helpful. The last one asked me straight away if I am reaching for the same reason. I asked “Why”, and the person said that I should go to a counselor. Well, I didn’t ask to send me elsewhere, just needed some support at the moment, the connection with another live being. I find such approach unethical and in disagreement with the service purpose: isn’t the idea behind it having access to help anytime anywhere? My case didn’t require neither counseling nor observation. However, the person I communicated with was ignorant even to ask how they can actually help me. Don’t recommend to vulnerable folks: they will experience even more pain and frustration than they had prior to the use of live chat. Nice idea, poor implementation (or maybe not right people)

Chat can be extremely helpful

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all your tasks, they can kind of help you figure out prioritization skills. The counselor I chatted with was pretty cool. He helped me break down my responsibilities into three groups of importance, and now I feel 70% less overwhelmed than before the chat. I give a 4 bc you can’t always get a “Walter” like I just did.

Very easy and content is helpful

Initial profile set up is very clear, and once in I am able to navigate content very easily. I appreciate the various articles on so many wellbeing topics dealt with by students. It’s so easy to initiate a call and chat too! No searching- it’s right there on every screen.

MY SSP

I find TELUSHealthStudentSupport incredibly easy to navigate and above all helpful.
