I love the idea of this app but there are many problems that need to be fixed.

I love the idea of Lingbe! In fact, I have spent months looking for this kind of app. I think it is the only one of its kind. I have noticed many problems with Lingbe . For one thing, the accessability for screen reader users is not very good. When I downloaded it and tried it, I could not access many of the apps features that were offered. When I wen into Lingbe after I wrote my orriginal review, Lingbe stopped working entirely. Ever since, I have not been able to get it to work at all. I could open it up, but nothing would happen. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it a good 3 times without any improvements. Does anyone know if some kind of virus made it into Lingbe ! This is a big shame because when it was working, I was able to practice some Spanish with a native Spanish speaker. I was also able to help an English learner practice their English. I could only make a call, answer a call and chat with my voice during the call. I could do almost nothing else because the features were inaccessible. But now, I can not even use Lingbe at all! Lingbe needs an update right away with real improvements that aactually work for everyone who wishes to use it!.

Extremely useful

The latest update really blew me away, phenomenal job guys!!! I used to not to correct non-Native speakers who made mistakes via text messages since it would take too much time, but the latest update made it insanely quick and easy! I can now quickly correct them, and write a quick note on why some things were wrong! Also the ability to translate something somebody sends me on DMs is just amazing! I used to have to leave Lingbe and go to google translate which was super hindering, but now I can do it through Lingbe ! Got pro after this update just to show my support, thank you guys! PS There are still a few bugs and lagging problems which l'm sure you guys are aware of (ex. calling native friends on Lingbe sometimes doesn't work and the ringing even stops during the dial despite the call not connecting) and while they don't detract too much from Lingbe experience, it'd be awesome if you guys could fix them. Keep up the AMAZING work!!!

Great idea but needs some work

I definitely like the concept and I feel it has great potential to be a language learning tool.

But I don’t think that the lingo system (in-app currency) is fair. I don’t like that I’m paid 6 lingos per minute when I’m helping others but I have to pay 10 lingos per minute to talk to a native speaker. This ensures that you’re going to be talking more in English than in your target language, defeating the idea of a one for one exchange. Even when you find a native in your target language that wants to learn English, you still have to go through the lingo system to call them, meaning that you’ll still end up speaking more English than target language unless you’re willing to pay for more lingos.

Sure, you can talk with other learners for a small price (or free with premium subscription), but I found this not very useful unless you are already advanced in the target language. The other learners will most probably have accents and/or broken grammar, which makes them hard to understand.

Add to that various technical problems which can make Lingbe hard to use. I understand that Lingbe is new, but I still feel that when the developers have a lot of work to do before Lingbe can be described as well functioning. Lingbe freezes every once in a while and sometimes is just slow / unresponsive.

Could be better.

I love Lingbe but it has sooo many bugs. At first, I thought it was my old crappy phone but once I got a new phone, Lingbe still acted the same way. For example, when I get certain ads I can’t exit out of them so I have to close Lingbe and reopen it. When I receive a message notification from Lingbe , I click the notification and Lingbe opens. I look at my chats but the message doesn’t appear so I have to close and reopen it to see the message. Also, where it says “This week” (basically shows my activity) everything is at 0. I’ve practiced, helped, and added some friends but it doesn’t show. And lastly, after I answered a call to verify that someone was a native english speaker, it said that I gained 50 lingos. When I checked my lingos, I still had the same amount. Like I said, I love Lingbe ... but it could be better.

good, but there are some issues

i really love the concept for Lingbe, and there are a ton of great things about it. for example, i really like how you can add people as friends so you can talk to them again, the chat feature, and how you can translate and correct people’s texts right in the chat. unfortunately, there are some bugs that make it hard for me to enjoy my use of Lingbe . first, it crashes constantly, sometimes as frequently as every five seconds. this is obviously very frustrating, and once i get to a point where i’m able to continuously use Lingbe , i can’t exit out or i’ll have to deal with it crashing ten more times in a row. second, sometimes when i try to correct someone’s message in the chat, if it’s too long, my keyboard will cover up the “ok” button and there’s no way for me to enter the correction. third, there are some interests that it just won’t let me add to my profile, such as music. i’ve tried several times, restarted Lingbe , and restarted my phone, but nothing worked. music is very important to me and i want to be able to add it to my profile. other than these things, i am happy with Lingbe , and i’m enjoying helping with and learning different languages with people all around the world!!

Hmmm

I’m about through with Lingbe. After one year of membership, it seems there are only more glitches than before. If you have an iOS I wouldn’t even bother; the keyboard doesn’t work for anything but private chats. This glitch hasn’t been fixed since I switched to iOS over six months ago, and it makes participating in tasks and forums a royal pain. The idea of Lingbe is good, but even with a paid membership I make fewer “lingos” for helping someone learn, than is necessary to pay for help. Thus, I’m hesitant nowadays to give my time, as I really don’t have that much extra I can spend teaching. Time zones and low usage unfortunately cause there to be very few native speakers in my practice language available to chat with. So, despite the great idea, Lingbe is turning into a bit of a ghost town.

Why isn’t this more popular?

Lingbe needs more attention. Seriously, what an amazing idea. I haven’t experienced any bugs or connection issues. I’m sure if you do though, just contact support and they will help you. The people that I Have spoken with either sincerely want to learn English or are actually willing to help you learn your desired language. My top favorite language practicing app for sure. They say you need to move to a country to really learn and practice that language. Lingbe LITERALLY BRINGS THAT COUNTRY TO YOU! I want Lingbe to become super popular so that I don’t have to worry about it ever going away.

Fantastic useful app

I've been using Lingbe for about 2.5 years and I think there is no app better than this for learning a new language because you can just make a call and talk to a native English speaker or even a guy who is learning English. In other apps, you have to beg people to talk to you. I unquestionably recommend Lingbe.
Thanks a lot for this extraordinary app. 🙏🌹🙏

By

Little deceiving

It’s a good app that lets you talk to people all around the world. The idea is you’re supposed to be. Native speaker who has native conversations with people trying to learn yiur language, and in return you get to speak with natives of your target language. However, in practice, I’ve had Spanish (my target language) conversations with more than half a dozen people so far, and not a single person has been a native speaker. So while I’ve still gotten good practice with people who are trying to learn, it’s not what they bill it as

C’mon now fix the glitches!

Calls drop or don’t connect. I’ve posted questions on this app tasks and now they don’t even show the answers to questions I’ve made. I paid for Pro and I can’t even I’d the video with people who also have Pro. You need to resolve this problem. Lingbe has the potential to be great if you pay attention to comments made here. Also, I should be moving up levels faster and I’m not. Seems like the regular version is better than the apto version! Go figure. I’d be happy to give you more stars once these issues are resolved.

Great idea!

Unlike so many other apps, forces you to talk and engage which is what you need to learn a language. Seems to be a good number of participants so haven’t been kept waiting yet. I wish the time limit/currency was a bit stronger, so that calls didn’t end so soon if you didn’t want them to. Call quality could improve majorly, but hard to tell if it was just the other person’s network.

By

Impossible to get Lingos and terrible call quality

Basically no way to get free lingo, I watch ads but cannot get out of them because the “x” button won’t work, the surveys get blocked by proxy, and I spent 20 lingos in a call where I cannot hear the other person. In the 2/min calls, no one ever picked up, while the long distant calls were unsuccessful. I’m pretty sure this would be a great app, and it is a great idea, only if the call qualities were better and the lingos were more obtainable, rather than having people spend so much money trying to buy lingos for a 6 minute call.

Good idea but too many crashes

This is a great way to start talking in a foreign language right away, unlike other apps where you exchange a lot of messages that often don't go anywhere. I like the idea of earning credits by helping others with your native language (though this puts the speakers of less commonly studied languages at a disadvantage). However, lately Lingbe has been crashing all the time on my iPad. It's almost unusable. 🙁

Great concept!

I’ve been on and off this app for a couple years now and I always have fun meeting new people and learning about their culture. It’s a great community because we are all language learners and can speak / be spoken to at an understandable pace.

By

Consistently Broken

The concept here has potential, but they make it very difficult to earn in-app currency (lingos) unless you are a native speaker of English.

Lingbe is also often buggy. Calls will not connect or they get dropped. In the rooms, the audio is often too low and the hosts cannot invite people to join.

I find myself less and less interested in using Lingbe, and I am a native speaker of English

Great & needs to develop

Hey
Thanks for your great idea and amazing app. It's really helpful.

There is something I like to share with app developers. Most of the time I have problems with receiving calls. Lingbe sends notification and even sometimes makes phone rings but there is no call to answer. What is wrong with Lingbe ?!
Please fix this issue and set a better algorithm for distributing calls.

Great app but...

This is a great, unique platform and I understand that it’s developing but, apart from the very restricted options, it’s slow and sometimes when I click on “Watch ad”, it says I’m not connected to the Internet while that’s not the case at all. This is at least my experience from Iran (often using VPNs due to the ruling regime’s Internet censorship) with an iPhone 6s. Hope it all gets fixed.

By

Amazing app but..

I think this is an amazing app but there is a bug on the IPhone 11 where if you click on the messages button while on a call, you can’t exit out again because the ‘x’ button is too far up right which means you cannot end the call until they do.

By

No text messages and only one language option

My first issue was I speak 2 languages and trying to find another person to practice the third language. Lingbe doesn't offer an option to add your languages.
Also Would be interesting to have a text messages option.
No one starts calling someone that you never met before.

Great ideas, bad implementation, bad support

This has a great community and great ideas, but Lingbe is awful. The screens are confusing, Lingbe takes over your iPhone sound even when you’re not listening to Lingbe , the typing interface doesn’t allow spell-check or auto-correct, etc., etc. The FAQ is useless and support is slow.

By

Again the take money to gave nothing. Beware of subscription

I don’t want to update it but they insist to update every two minutes or so, and guess what you update Lingbe to lose your subscription every time!!! I spend about 30$ to get pro features for few days .. which means if you like me you may get 3 days for 3 months subscription If you get those three days. I have to contact Apple to deal with them because they never responded to my emails and the support system inside Lingbe is broken for two months now. (Lingbe will frozen as soon I click support button). Worst developer ever.

Favorite language app ever!

I absolutely love Lingbe! The idea is ingenious. The results are remarkable. The features just keep getting better. The only reason this is not a 5-star review (yet) is because there are still way too many bugs that (at times) impact my enjoyment. As those glitches get resolved I will happily change my review to 5 stars. Keep up the great work developers!

Awful😖

I heard about Lingbe from one friend of mine, so I thought it’s a good way to improve my speaking skill. After I installed Lingbe I’ve found some problems. First of all most of the users are not natives! And I think that lack of verification to find out the user is really native or not is a crucial issue. Another problem that almost killed me was technical issues... 90% of calls were not connecting at all although they cost you time...

By

Useful

So far I have only one call. It was nice very nice person from Egypt. He spoke English very well. The first calls kept falling but this called stayed for a little while over 24 minutes. Hope to meet and help more people

Great App

this app is great app. I have been able to speak to native English speakers and its really helping. My pronunciation and fluency has greatly improved and I keep learning more every day
This is a great app for non native language speakers to improve their language

By

Great concept

Lingbe is a fun way to speak with others who speak other languages. Sometimes the connection can be unreliable but they are working on improving this.

By

Idea - 5 stars, performance - 1 star

I want to use it everyday, but I never know if it will work that particular day. It freezes, glitches and crushes, but if it does work - I get to practice my target language with either learners or natives depending on the mode I pick. I am willing to pay, but please make Lingbe more reliable

By

Super App

Love how you can talk in pretty much any language and my any time of the day. It's great if you don't have friends in the language you want to learn or if they are busy you can talk through Lingbe .

I live in a major metropolitan area of the USA. My internet is amazing, so I know that is not the issue. Lingbe is nothing I would consider stable. Calls fail to connect over and over and over and when they finally do, they may drop suddenly. How am I supposed to help people if I cannot connect? At first, I really liked this app, and I do still like the -concept-, but the devs have done a not so great job at implementation, and their support is non-existent. There are many apps out there that can help with connecting and learning a foreign language. I would not recommend this one.

I clicked ads as usual but the due lingos did not get added to my account. The coins just sucked. This happened several times. I sent emails regarding the issue but to no avail.
