I had to download Arkaive because my professor was using it to take attendance. The experience is pretty bad. You have to watch an add in order to check in for a class unless you pay for the premium tier. Also, on iOS, the button to check in without paying is subdued text, so there were a few classes where I didn’t check in for class because I didn’t see how.

Arkaive offers a service that I as a student would never pay for. Arkaive is, at best, an add-free feature of what should be a larger service. I’m personally against attendance being taken at the college level, so there is no need for a better way to do something that’s pointless to start with. If I were a parent of someone in K-12, I would never pay for my kid to use Arkaive and I would encourage them to play the adds loudly while waiting for the privilege of signing in.

Half the time, Arkaive does not register I’m in class. I will restart Arkaive , restart my phone, turn location off and on again, and it still won’t register! This happens to numerous students in my class on a daily basis.

Arkaive seems to have a problem with iOS dark mode, because I can’t even read the text on some screens because the background is black with black text. Terrible design.

Having a no ads subscription on this is pretty dumb. Professors or the institution should be the ones paying for no ads or to use Arkaive , rather than the students. If the institution wants to use it, THEY can pay for it.

I’m sure that most people using Arkaive are college students that don’t have a ton of expendable income. Arkaive charges $1/month to skip ads and be able to view your attendance. This is frankly ridiculous.

Now I get it, they’ve gotta pay the bills somehow. Ads themselves don’t bother me as much, but hiding something like viewing your attendance behind a monthly fee is crazy! My school has an attendance policy that can result in one failing a course if too many classes are missed and the fact that I can’t keep up with how many classes I’ve missed without paying is, again, ridiculous.

Let’s just start with the fact that on sign up screen, your font is white on a white background so you can’t even see what you’re typing at the time. Second, you have to watch an ad every time before checking in to your class and that’s not all... You can’t even view your attendance or request log without ACTUALLY PAYING THEM! You don’t even have the option to watch an ad.... ABSOLUTELY SEFISH of the developers of Arkaive! Here’s a thought, if you’re going to charge your users, AT LEAST make your app user-friendly... I’d give Arkaive 0 stars if so could.

I’m ok with watching ads, like I get it. I can wait 30 seconds to check in. But the fact that I have to pay money to view my attendance, that counts as my grade, is absolutely ridiculous. You mean to tell me that after paying tuition, books and other supplies, I have to pay to check my own grade? Ridiculous. I’d be ok to watch an ad for access, but having to pay for a basic feature is insane, greedy and selfish. Teachers and professors, please do not use Arkaive. Your students will appreciate it.

They’re trying to get you to pay a subscription fee to see whether or not you’re getting credit for your classes. Just ask your teacher. Don’t ever spend money on this waste of data. If you like getting ads shoved in your face while just trying to sign into class, then you’re a freak. Any teachers reading this, just send out an attendance sheet. Nobody can forget it and it’s a whole lot easier

I have been very pleased with how easy this app makes taking attendance. Arkaive does all the work. You may have some challenge with student buy-in because they can’t game the system. If you want to take attendance but don’t want to have to do any of the work, use Arkaive.

Don’t waste your time on Arkaive. It had so many problems that I gave up after three days. Geolocation doesn’t work properly, so students who are actually present can’t check in. They have to watch ads to check in. They have to share their location data with Arkaive at all times, so there are big privacy concerns. All around, Arkaive was terrible at doing the one thing it was supposed to do: make my life easier.

Wish this could just be removed from Arkaive store so that teachers wouldn’t even think of using such a useless and pathetic app for class. Hardly even works, and visually unappealing. Why the heck is the text white to sign up on a white bakground? Most of the ratings are ridiculously low anyway, so why even bother? And trying to get money from students? HA! Teachers, I beg of you not to use Arkaive for your student’s sake.

A simple app which functions as a cash grab with no real product. The graphics and coding in this could be produced by an 8th grader on a chrome book in four hours. Yet they act like they’re providing some sort of service and ask for money constantly along with playing ads every time you use it. Shameful that professors who should have some philosophical reverence force students to use this.

Awesome idea, easy way to take attendance and verify students are in class. With that being said I am actively lobbying for all my professors to stop using Arkaive because the ads on Arkaive are absurdly long and the only way to get rid of them is to pay $1 PER MONTH. $1 for permanent ad removal maybe makes sense but these developers are being greedy. Therefore 1 star. Honestly would give 0 if I could

The most predatory “educational” app that I have ever used. Barely functions as it should, and requires students to purchase a monthly subscription if they don’t want to view irrelevant and time consuming ads before they can record their attendance.
Arkaive provides minimal convenience to the professor, at major cost to the student.

To start a profile you’re presented with what looks like an empty notes image. This is actually gray text on a white background which is extremely hard to read. After that embarrassingly bad coding Arkaive makes you watch an ad to check in to your class. Helpful for professors but absolute garbage on the end of the students.

Horrible features, plays ads right before you can check in, makes you pay for features like even looking at your attendance history... just another useless thing college professors try to make you buy that adds no value to your overall education.

Genuinely one of the worst apps I have ever used. I sign in twice a week for class and each time I do I have to click no thanks to a forced ad to buy the premium. What a terrible system. In what world would I buy it? One of the worst apps any teacher has made me use.

Just downloaded Arkaive because one of my professors is using it to take attendance, and as soon as I open it up and try to sign up, the words that you type in don’t even show up— like, how am I supposed to use it then?!

Arkaive is so bad. it is GOD. AWFUL. a shameful cash grab capitalizing on professor’s laziness and student’s powerlessness. It’s also super ineffective anyway because all I had to do was find a unoccupied room above my normal classroom to study in while I waited for the class to be over, thus tricking the geolocation function. Stupid app, and easily cheated, obviously.

Started using Arkaive in one of my classes. It’s very straightforward and easy to use.

Extremely unhappy to be using this dismal product to check into classes that I have already payed thousands to be apart of. This is truly a low point in the history of higher education in the United States.

Unfortunately, the unavoidable cannot be avoided and they can keep my measly 4$.

It is impossible to check into this app using Arkaive version. The ads have gotten out of control, these are the worst types of ads as well. They hide the exit button which is so frustrating.

Do not sign up for Arkaive. They make it impossible to un-subscribe by not emailing you back or including an account preferences tab on your account to un-subscribe yourself. Enjoy the process of switching to a new card, or paying 99 cents every month for the rest of your cards usable life.

Forcing students to pay to see attendance and autoplaying ads before allowing check ins are terrible decisions on an app that otherwise is a good idea. Abusing the fact that students want to pass a class does not give the right to make them pay.

I can handle having to watch ads every time I check in for attendance, but... seriously? Locking the only method I have of checking my attendance record behind a monthly subscription fee? On an app as barebones as this?

I would prefer to watch the ad after I check in, not making myself late.

Here is another example of why teachers are the laziest people on the planet. All students hate Arkaive because we have to pay 1$ to come to class. Arkaive is the worst I’ve ever seen, stay away!
