this app app will not allow for creating account for USA travelers unless you got Norwegian phone number. Rick Stevens confirmed that on web as well so Ruter is worthless to global nomads.
I downloaded app yesterday at 1930 and bought tickets to begin at 730 October 3 for 24 hours. When I opened app in the morning to use tickets, they were already expiring. Had to buy new tickets. Waisted money
Just tried checking alternatives to bus travel from my start location. Ruter only provided bus connections (and only one line at that). It also showed only walking as an alternative. (For example if I moved the start location one city block it provided only walking times. That for a start location with: a bus line going to the destination, multiple bus lines travelling to a train station which had both trains and buses going to the same destination.
They broke the travel planner
Very hard to use for foreigners.
Not working with US number
When I tried to register Ruter by US mobile number, I can’t get confirm codes. I tried many times but all failed.
US phone numbers are not actually supported on Ruter , as the SMS number confirmation doesn’t work. Contact with customer service didn’t resolve the problem.
Not getting text for log in
2 people tried on 2 different phones and we didn’t receive the verification codes on either, so we were unable to create an account.
…Deleted Ruter
Tried to sign up with my US number while still in the US, and no confirmation text ever arrived. I tried multiple times. As an organized person I want to be prepared before I go, and I don’t trust that Ruter will be of any use without a credit card saved. Please fix this very basic issue.
This new app seems a very big step backwards from an end user experience- the old apps were very straightforward to both find routes and to buy tickets- this one does not seem to do either easily
Ruter is a major improvement. I also really appreciate the support for credit cards not from Norway. It is really helpful when traveling
Used to be my favorite travel app in Oslo, but had to switch to Entur.app instead:
Favorites must refer to a route on a stop/station, not just the stop/station. We only need to favorite a couple routes one way from a stop, not all the other routes or opposite directions on that stop: Hubs like Hauketo, Jernbanetorget, or Oslo S shows way too many, for me irrelevant depatures to be helpful as favorites ;
Favorites tiles should show next departure times directly without having to tap them. (Check out EnTur app and see how nice and elegant favorites displays there without having to tap them, or tap to see all departures!)
Why are these silly pins on useless locations still there on the map??? Does anyone need daily trips to Klokketårnet, Vippetangen etc? Please remove or make them customable!
Ikke mulig å betale med amerikanske kredittkort eller ApplePay!
The original ruterreise app was much better. Give it back and let users decide what app they want to use! The new app is less performant than using the web page!
Impossible for anyone who doesn’t live in Norway to use. Awful error messages - what does pia error 308 mean? How about pia error -99?
Useless. Taking an Uber
The old app was simpler to use!
crash crash crash crash crash. App can't even open after I've deleted it and reloaded it several times. Useless currently.
Skal kjøpe billetter til meg og familien min og sliter tungt
Tried to pay with two different American credit cards. Gave some obscure error code. Bus didn’t take cash. Pretty unimpressed.
The new app looks more modern but the travel routes it gives just don’t make sense or reflect timed bus connections that well, so will suggest routes that take 30 minutes longer than necessary. It also has very poor walking directions when trying to connect from one bus/tram to another. I essentially only use it to see when my late bus is actually arriving. Otherwise quite fussy to use with a thousand buttons that make simple tasks feel overly complicated. Hopefully improves with time since it’s so new :)
Three dots jumping for over 20 mins, untill I kill Ruter or my trips ends
So, to make an account, you need to register with your mobile phone, but I tried registering several times and requested resends. Never have I received an notification to confirm my mobile as a US mobile number.
Other than that, Ruter can tell you when to get off a stop and how many of them are between before then.
Love the application and how easy it is to purchase fares. I just wish it had offline proof of fare support like Vy does. Sometimes my phone's connection cuts out, which makes me worried if I need to show proof of fare to inspectors which requires an active network connection. The Vy application does not have this issue as it pre-loads the proof each day.
Great app. Very useful. Love the travel options it gives. Very precise directions.
rent, nesten alltid i rute, lett å kjøpe billett, mange avganger👍🏻
Awesome app. So well designed. Easy to use.
Ruter was a lot of help during my Oslo visit. You can easily find which bus to take to where you want to go, buy tickets and even follow the bus route on the map. Thumbs up!
App works great - helped me navigate train and bus rides to far away places. Huge help and comfort knowing I was headed in the right direction and on time. Thank you RuterReise!
I love the fact that it can be in English, I always back and fort Oslo, and tranportation is important and the ticket is good for bus and train
