Don’t waste your money!

Setup is easy and works great for AC in the summer, but unfortunately, changing from AC to Heat and back is problematic. The first month of this app changing the temperature away from my setting cost me a lot more than expected. When heat was needed, the this app would keep cooling. Once I set the heat temperatures via schedules, I walked into what felt like a sauna. Don’t waste your moment and use your remote to set and forget. I have ~400 smart home devices, and this is one of the worst I’ve encountered. And it will cost you more electricity than you ever expected.

Super Confusing UX for Mini-Split controller

I can only assume the UX designer is thoroughly frustrated because nobody listens to them and their app is a confusing disaster because of it.

The main problem is it’s impossible to tell what happens when you leave the geofencing area. You have two options. Turn the heat off, which will presumably freeze the pipes in a couple hours, or Climate React which costs money, also turns off, and has zero explanation what is supposed to happen anyway. It would make a lot more sense for a smart temperature control feature to turn ON and then have a temperature range — instead, leaving the geofencing area turns things off and there’s basically no clarity as to what happens when you leave home.

Also the UI is a little wonky, but that’s a very minor complaint to seemingly being unable to fulfill the main purpose of the hardware.

Branding looks nice though. Cool monster illustration.

EDIT: I’ve contacted support and apparently it’s not designed to maintain a more energy efficient temperature when you leave. If I want it to be 60° when I leave in the winter and 72° when I’m home... I have to manually set it every single time. That’s the only reason I bought this and why I bought the annual subscription. Took me 20min to realize this product seemed wrong, and a few days to verify it’s not possible to do anything I need it to.

WORST UPDATE EVER!!!! Don’t update!

I love this app, but in the latest update they changed completely the way you control your AC!!! It’s is so complicated and NOT user friendly! In the past versions everything was so easy and you had everything at your finger tips. Now you need to click into so many buttons and the whole screen has useless information, the most important buttons are at the top very small.
I wish they would give an option to have the old screen back, if you love your this app menu don’t update because you won’t be able to get it back!!!

3.4.x update feedback

Just wanted to provide some feedback on the 3.4.x update. Just to be clear, I love the product, the function it provides. In terms of the user interface, I think the latest 3.4.x took a step in the wrong direction. The basic functions (setting the temperature, mode, fan, etc) feel like they require extra steps to access. The information panels which I rarely access (did you know?, events, ac health check, ac filter cleanup, etc) take up over half of the UI and overwhelms and clutters the screen. The icons and fonts on the panels feels too large and disproportionate on the screen. Hope this feedback helps.

A redesigned interface in the wrong direction

I used to love Sensibo and used it on the daily basis to turn on/off my AC. It was simple, intuitive, and easy to use, even for my elderly parents.

However, the latest app update is a major disappointment, who on earth thinks cramping every possible functions to a small interface is a good idea? Why do I need to know the latest event with my AC, or the AC health, or the filter, when all I need is to turn it on/off and know the temperature setting? I guess the team is trying to hard to sell the add-on services that they forgot the original purpose of the device and Sensibo .

Redesign is awful

I love the product itself, but the redesign of the device control pages is horrible. What used to be simple to understand, well laid out, and almost elegant in design is now a cluttered mess of hard to figure out controls, unnecessary information, and buttons to upsell you on services. I’m glad I have this connected to HomeKit so I can use the home app and Siri for general control because this new app is a giant mess. Please go back to the drawing board and do better. Once you do, I’ll re-evaluate my rating.

Good product, not a well designed app

This product has a lot of potential but Sensibo is really not easy to use. I want to set up more complex automations based on a combination of presence and weather, but can’t do it. Additionally, climate react is limited to trigger AC on at a minimum of 32C (which it doesn’t let you set to Fahrenheit) which is way too high. I need AC on at 75C. I thought signing up for Pro would enable me to have finer grained control but it doesn’t. Considering returning it or trying to find a workaround for automating my temperature more accurately.

Overall solid app but I have a huge Feature request

Sensibo overall is very solid, as is the thermostat.

My feature request is one that I’ve been longing for but didn’t even think to request it here…

Have the ability to create climate react ‘profiles instead of just time based climate react settings. That way we can individually choose a Climate react profile and even assign Climate react profiles to a time instead of setting up a climate react for every different time.

This way we can individually select a climate react profile if the need arises (which it often does!

I have some that are set for a time but I continually wish that I could just tap 2-3 different defaults as schedules don’t fit the ambient temp or outside weather.

Generally nice with a couple of inexplicable design decisions.

The hardware is generally great, and Sensibo is serviceable. I do not understand why they haven’t made possible what is to me the most obvious usage pattern for my MiniSplit: Turn Climate React on when I’m not in the room, and off when I am in the room.

It seems like a no-brainer to me to leave some broad on/off settings for Climate React to handle when the room is empty, then switch to comfort settings when Presence React detects someone in the room, turning Climate React off. But the only options are to turn Climate React ON when a presence is detected and OFF when empty. I don’t understand who would want that behavior, much less why the more sensible behavior isn’t even an option.

Wish climate ready could make more complicated rules

The climate react let me sets a rule to turn the AC on (cool) when it rises above a certain temp, OR turn it on dry when humidity rises above a certain percentage… but not both.

Likewise, if it drops below a certain temp, I would like to turn on heat and then stop heating once it hits a threshold. Instead what happens is it starts heating at 68 until it hits 72 and then switches to cooling until it hits 68, and then bounces between the two, never actually pausing. All I want is the temp to be 70, with the humidity kept below 50%

James

It would be very helpful if, say every hour, the system checked itself and resent the command to the control. Sometimes the first time the command is sent it doesn’t activate the control. Checks and balances are always a good thing

Mostly love it

I’ve mostly learned to love this little device. Works with Siri and Alexa and overall makes my dumb ac a much more impressive device.

Two nitpicks, change the way you can adjust the temperature in climate react. The little + and - things drive me crazy (I always get near bear, and then bam it slides all the way to the end!), and the slider is so hard to get exact. Just let me type in the friggin temp I want.

And climate react needs a home and away setting. I’d love to be able to maintain my AC at a less power hungry setting when in away then when I’m home.

Good even without subscription

Sensibo is easy to use and the devices are quickly responsive to all the changes in settings. I like using the smart on/off function that uses actual temperature measured by the device across the room rather that the inaccurate temp sensor of my wall AC unit. The premium features are too gimmicky, I’d consider paying for HomeKit integration which is not available on the Sky devices.

Solid app but could be better

Works well with my new Fujitsu mini-splits but the slats movement controls do not work. Have only been using it for 3 days.

Update 6 months later. Still great! Is it possible to add the Power fan option (4th speed ). for my Fujitsu? This is called the ‘powerful’ option on the factory remote.

Reliable and simple to set up

These things are great. I have two for Mitsubishi units without the internal connector for the Kumo Cloud remote. I thought I was stuck, my other Mitsubishi units are on Kumo but for these remaining two that was not an option.
Like I said easy to install: plug in 5V USB adapter for power, place near enough so AC unit can “see” the module through its existing remote control sensor, Download Sensibo and connect to local WiFi and you’re ready.
I had some issues with one unit reverting to Celsius units after setting for Fahrenheit in Sensibo but there was never a problem with control functions. Customer service worked with me by email with various suggestions to correct this issue and found one that worked.
Customer Service from this company is excellent, they responded within 1 day, provided meaningful suggestions, tried new approaches when first suggestions didn’t work and stayed interested until the problem was solved.
Now these are more stable than the Kumo and with more control options. The Kumo drops off of my WiFi system occasionally and stays “out of touch” until it connects again. These modules have never dropped out even though they are farther from the router. Great system!

Great device

This device works splendidly. I had a little trouble configuring it, but the customer support was superb. After finally getting my wifi to communicate with it, it has worked flawlessly. I have three installed in my vacation home so I can always keep an eye on the temperature when I’m not there. I can have the home properly cooled or heated when we arrive. Great product, very reasonably priced.

Sensibo is a bank account life saver!

We live in Northwestern Costa Rica where it is HOT year round. Central air conditioning is not a thing here and all buildings that are air conditioned have mini split units. These are fine because if a unit goes down it means just that room is down until you can get it fixed. The downside to these units is that there is no way to have a temperature based auto on/off like with a thermostat so at night you go to bed and wake up freezing then turn it off and wake up a while later sweating from heat or the AC just runs all night long. We have 4 this app units in our home (1 for each AC unit) and 2 in our business. We use the climate react feature to set an upper end limit to switch the unit on in a given room and a lower end limit to switch the unit off. We sleep better at home and when we are busy at work it keeps the temperature comfortable for our clients without any attention from us. Maintaining a temperature range means the ac units aren’t running as much and our bank accounts have noticed - can’t recommend enough!

Great product, awesome App!

I recently had three ductless air-conditioning systems installed in my apartment. The contractor said that the units will work with Wi-Fi module, but those modules were never available and I needed remote control of my Home AC’s for the pets. this app makes a system that is super easy to install and quickly communicates with each home unit. One system per unit. I can now leave the house without worry, knowing that I can monitor my home temperature and control the system without any problems. I love it!!

One year review

I have this paired with my mini split in my mancave that houses precision reloading equipment along with powder and other very expensive materials. I need to keep the temp somewhat stable, but keeping the humidity down is a must. I don’t use any advanced settings, just turn it on when I know it’s getting too hot or when the humidity is up, and set the timer for it to go off. (Otherwise I will literally leave it on for days, weeks if I am away for TDY or deployment) The only complaint I have is it will not give me an accurate temp reading of what it currently is, I use a different system for that but not sure if it is supposed to or how it would even be possible with this system but I know what it says the temp is and what it really is are two different things. But won’t ding you guys for that, it may rely on talking to the mini split for that info. Either way, highly recommend. Definitely made my life easier!

Does everything I needed it to!

I have 4 mini splits connected to 1 outdoor unit (multi split). One of my units is undersized for the room it’s in so if other units are turned on while that one is still trying to get to temperature they ‘leak’ hot or cold air into the room.
This device and app with its climate react settings allows me to turn the units fully off so that this leakage doesn’t occur. Saves me money in addition to keeping my rooms at the correct temperatures.
