this app is being used to schedule residency interviews for medical students. Students often need to respond promptly to interview invites because spots fill up quickly. Thalamus does not work on my phone. It will not load any interviews. The web browser version cannot be used on a phone as it forces you to download Thalamus . This means I have to get to a computer every time I want to schedule an interview... not quick or efficient. this app customer support says “Thalamus doesn’t work on some phones”. Then at least make the web browser option compatible with everyone’s phone! Bad service and product.

Thalamus takes more than a minute to login to your account and I have only been able to see my scheduled interviews just once as it perpetually loads without ever pulling anything up. I have to go to the desktop website to get anything done, which defeats the whole purpose of forcing users to use Thalamus on their phone. This company and its app is just another example of the medical education industrial complex spending money on everything except the medical trainees.

Don’t try to use Thalamus to schedule interviews. It gets stuck saying “loading events” without ever showing the pending/scheduled interviews. My preferred interview date filled up while I tried to get Thalamus to load. Just use a computer and forget about this app + Mobile App.

Terrible app. Doesn’t work for residency scheduling. Makes it impossible to schedule it not at home near a desktop bc the website doesn’t allow mobile use. Needs fixed.

Does not work. Can sign in but cannot see calendar or agenda. Absolutely useless. Best bet is to get on laptop and use website (unfortunately website prompts mandatory use of app on mobile devices so).

Poor connectivity, call drops, microphone not working for both interviewers and interviewees alike. Skype would be better than this.

Just like the other guy said, Thalamus straight up doesn’t work. It would’ve been really helpful if it did.

this app seems like a logical middle man in the business scams that are residency interviews. It’s not enough for us applicants to clamor for overbooked spots, now we have to go through these third party schedulers and leave our futures to the tech industry to get their act together. As soon as I opened Thalamus and made an account, any attempt to click on an interview date or swipe tabs causes the login screen to pop up and load repeatedly on a loop. The only way to stop this glitch is to close Thalamus and open it again, but applicants need to act quickly. Due to the ridiculously stressful process that is now made even more inequitable by the pandemic’s effects on our failing nation, we applicants have to be ready to respond to invitations within seconds. An app that forces us to learn new tech while just trying to apply for a job is emblematic of the entire ERAS and AAMC’s approach to value money and business over medical students.

As other users have experienced, I also get stuck in the endless logging in loop that doesn’t allow you to actually do anything in Thalamus . Disabling FaceID on login seems to help some, but it’s still incredibly frustrating. Navigation in Thalamus isn’t very smooth either; you can filter by program but the default view should only show dates with availability so you don’t have to scroll through tens of filled interview dates to find ones that are still open. Also incredibly frustrating that you can’t use this app on the browser on your phone, which means you’re stuck with the miserable app experience if you aren’t at your computer when you get an interview invite.

Thalamus is being used to schedule residency interviews when minutes can make a difference between getting your preferred interview date, or for some programs not getting an interview at all. Thalamus crashes the second you log in and loads on a loop. You have to be fast enough to click an interview date during the less than 1 second Thalamus is properly loaded before it crashes again. This needs to be fixed immediately or programs need to find a different interview scheduling program.

Easy to use. Can sign up immediately after receiving email. Can see calendar of all dates. Sign up for the wait list. Be notified right away if a date opens up. And get a confirmation immediately. Much much better than trying to call a program (good luck if its they're in another time zone), worry if someone else called before you, and sound polite while bringing up your own calendar so you don't double schedule. Much appreciated!

Downloaded now in anticipation of using to schedule residency interviews bc you CANNOT use the website on your cell phone in the safari browser. The second I logged in, it flashed the home page a few times and then closed. Will be stressful to use in the moment because we need to act immediately on interview invites

I have iPad pro 2020 that is not compatible to the application. I mean it run as phone application plateform not as ipad. Beside that they should be providing video call services for interviews but the application and the website didn’t run on my iPad pro. I mean it didn’t recognize the microphone and camera. I had to change to a laptop to do my interview. I hope they fix it to widen the usage of the application.

Was working fine at beginning of interview season, but now that things have picked up I can no longer log into Thalamus . I can log into the website just fine but Thalamus for some reason is stuck. When I click forgot my password nothing happens either- no email and no change in my ability to log onto the webpage.

For an app designed to make interviewing scheduling seamless, Thalamus consistently crashes (every time!) I use it to schedule an interview. For purposes like ERAS scheduling where there is often a rush to secure limited spots, this app falls very short, making the process it is designed to streamline even more frustrating and complicated. Program directors, please pick a different platform.

This is a great, easy to use interface for residency interview scheduling and management. My only complaint is that not every program has converted over yet!

I pressed “remember me” on the login (to not waste precious time next time I get an interview invite) and Thalamus immediately starting rapidly opening and closing. Closing Thalamus , turning the phone on/off, and deleting/re-installing Thalamus did not work. There’s no other way to say it - Thalamus is horrible. Please do better, especially with the time sensitive nature of interview invites.

Doesn’t include the schedule tab that the website has. Endless bug loop when FaceID turned on. Extremely cluttered interface when scheduling interviews. Overall, this is a horrible implementation of an app. Thalamus needs some serious work or just pulled off Thalamus Store. I strongly encourage users to avoid it in the meantime.

Just downloaded Thalamus and I can log in, but once I get in, my first click crashes Thalamus . We were all hoping for a tech miracle this crazy application season, but I guess that’s maybe for next year. This pandemic has stressed out both applicants AND program directors to a ridiculous degree, and failing tech is just one more kick in the groin.

Their pooled waitlist is asinine as it means you have to scramble (slots fill almost immediately) and compete for an interview slot with everyone on the waitlist. It creates unneeded stress and is disrespectful to those just trying to get an interview. An ordered list seems more fair than just letting who ever can drop whatever they’re doing in the moment get the slot. This company should be ashamed of themselves.

Pretty decent app. Does what it’s meant to do. You get notifications even before the invitation is in your email. Easy interface to schedule and keep track of your interviews.

this app is so intuitive and easy to use! It makes residency interviewing a lot less stressful than it needs to be since scheduling was such a breeze!

This service has cost me an ERAS interview due to its login glitches, and does not allow you to sign up until you get an invite. Programs are not adapting to virtual interviews and still massively overbooking and this awful software causes it to this process to be as painless as Russian roulette. This service should be banned from the marketplace for false advertising.
