Suggestions to a already great app

This is by far the most advanced and easy ui street parking app and works wonders here in nyc the street times and holidays opposite side parking reminders are helpful when heading out the house. One thing I’ve noticed since the big update is that my parking spot has not been able to pick up when i actually move my car to a different location and occasionally i forget what street i left my car on and look to SpotAngelsParkingGas to find out it’s still has the location for the last spot i was in. Furthermore the alert that a driver has moved from a location is a smart idea but honestly lacks because not a lot of people actually use it. Maybe if it was automatic and not something you had to manually alert more people would be finding it useful other then this it’s a great app keep up the work.

This app has saved me from death by metermaid!

SpotAngelsParkingGas has been wonderful for all the reasons outlined in the many thorough reviews here that I 100% corroborate. The features are impressive, the learning curve is not too difficult even for a non tech savvy person, you can participate in verifying parking spot rules, hours, taking photos of signs, and help the community keep the information accurate and up to date. I can’t believe how cavalier I was beforehand about parking, thinking I was in ok zones or completely forgetting about street sweeping; as a gig economy driver Ive racked up nearly $600 in tickets in the last few months alone; since using SpotAngelsParkingGas for a month, I’ve not received a single one. Thank You to the brilliant developers to the minds and those who operationalized a great idea so successfully!

Used to be great

A couple of years ago, SpotAngelsParkingGas was amazing. Over the last couple years it has sadly become pretty much useless - notifications haven’t worked for me for over a year (have been in touch with developers about it multiple times, but it just won’t notify me like it used to. All I get these days is a notification every time I park, saying ‘you’ve parked in an area with restrictions’, and that’s it). It often doesn’t remember my last parking location (also never used to be a problem). I never get the 15/30 min warnings anymore. And now, after a couple years or SpotAngelsParkingGas working less and less well, they are now charging for anything other than the most basic functions (which don’t work anymore).

Really hoping another developer takes this idea and runs with it, in a reasonably-priced app. Really miss SpotAngels working well - I probably would have paid a couple years ago, but there’s no way I’d pay for SpotAngelsParkingGas now. I’ve waited a year or so for it to work properly again, will likely delete it soon.

I thought I finally found it!

... but then, I used it.

So, after reading reviews, mostly good, downloading, entering my email, finding the verification email, opening SpotAngelsParkingGas , and finally, opening SpotAngelsParkingGas ,

ALL THE ALTERNATE SIDE STREET PARKING STREETS ARE MARKED THE SAME... GREEN.

So i wrote a snarky review, and got some good news from the developer (so now we are up to three stars). Here’s what we learned:
• the ability to see alternate side parking dates is “hidden” under filters (I think). If I plug in a date I want to find parking, only green lines show where parking is available.

So, if it’s Monday morning, and I want to find parking the whole day, SpotAngelsParkingGas is o.., but not very intuitive for finding street parking that’s not going to give me a ticket on a Monday.

Do I keep the following comment: C’mon, you couldn’t use green for Monday/Thursday, and orange for Tuesday/Friday?

Someone thought that I did all this work to see where there is some form of alternate side parking... vs. Pay For Street Parking?

Recommendation: the default should be for today, at this time, using two different colors for the days parking is free. (Who plans on looking for Street the day in advance?) The default should show where parking is available right now, and filter should enable setting the time for later, or tomorrow, or some time in the future.

If you update SpotAngelsParkingGas to do this, it would be a 5-star, and I’d even pay for it.

Thanks for the quick response!

Excellent NYC parking helper. But needs MORE USERS to make it GREAT

SpotAngelsParkingGas has proven to be a great tool in NYC. I use it in Manhattan’s upper east side. I’m very impressed on the accuracy of SpotAngelsParkingGas being in sync with the signs. AND that SpotAngelsParkingGas seems to stay CURRENT with any last minute changes the city makes.
So SpotAngelsParkingGas is great for deciding which blocks are viable to look for a space on. BUT, as my title says, for locating and OPEN SPACE, SpotAngelsParkingGas is only as useful if MORE PEOPLE sign on and use it, because it’s other drivers who are reporting in that they’ve seen an open space, or are vacating their space. I RARELY see a ‘halo’ indicating there’s an available space.
Bottom line: GET SpotAngelsParkingGas , USE SpotAngelsParkingGas , and we’ll all benefit.

Has potential but not quite there yet.

A really cool concept, I mostly wanted an app that can provide local data on street parking; for example, my boyfriend is a car enthusiast and has more than two cars; which most have to be street parked. I have two cars (also street parked) one of which I drive one daily. It would be nice to see which spots are 72, 48, 24 hours, etc. spots. From what I looked at in the preview video here it seemed to indicate free parking.
It also seems there is no data on ‘Meter’ parking at all, even though I see meters all over the main streets in my neighborhood.

It seems to be a similar concept to ‘Waze’ where this info is user reported, and unfortunately it seems there aren’t many users in my area (San Diego) yet at all. There is virtually no data on parking spots I can find.

A suggestion would be to perhaps apply local city parking laws in SpotAngelsParkingGas with ‘defaults’ for spots without a user input. But that might be arduous to implement.

Another issue is that Motion Access is no longer in iOS 13 and some features in SpotAngelsParkingGas require it. It seems they have not found a workaround for this which is a shame.

I think the devs are on the right path, but until SpotAngelsParkingGas is more widely used it’s likely not a convenient app for me at this time. Thanks for working on it and hope it grows!

Kinda like self checkout…

Such a weird system. The information is “crowd sourced,” which means the people USING SpotAngelsParkingGas do the work, and SpotAngelsParkingGas takes zero responsibility for the information because it doesn’t come from them…. But the users are also supposed to pay SpotAngelsParkingGas for the access to that information. Very strange. Like, come pay us but you also work for us. And also we are not responsible for ANY of this. Don’t blame us, blame your fellow users. But everyone keep paying us. For access to info we don’t bother to verify. What? And if you work hard enough for them, you can “earn” your few dollars a month back. If you’re going to charge people, hire employees to collect accurate information and pay them properly. If you aren’t going to do that, at least give people the option to deal with ads OR pay. It makes no sense.

DO NOT USE THIS APP

I heard about SpotAngelsParkingGas and thought, “wow what a life saver” and it seemed to be too good to be true. Turns out. It is.
I booked a parking lot for my weekend in the city. I show up to the lot, which was impossible to find as it ended up being down a car-width-wide alleyway I drove around in circles trying to find, and spoke to the attendant who then sent me away because the lot was “full”. I reached out to SpotAngels directly and explained the situation asking to be refunded. They told me the lots are who charge you for the bookings not them so to reach out to them directly for a refund. After literally weeks and almost 10 attempts to contact the lot, I haven’t heard a thing from anyone let alone come close to a refund. I reached out to SpotAngels again and they told me that if I don’t hear back from them to go ahead and contest the charge from the lot with my bank as there’s nothing they can do to refund me.

Use SpotAngelsParkingGas if you want to lose money.

Got a ticket. Don’t use

Yesterday, Wednesday, I walked outside to my car and to my surprise that was the ticket on the window. On Tuesday evening I park my car, and I forgot to check the alternate side, my mistake. When going back to double check I received a notification saying alternate side is Thursday. So I went back inside, my mistake again. The street I was on was not a small street where both sides are close together, it’s a wide street with 2 way traffic and much room to spare. This is the entire function of this feature on SpotAngelsParkingGas , the developer has told me this does not work in New York City or California, which is half or more it’s market. Basically app doesn’t work for what it was built to do. SpotAngelsParkingGas does ask for you to confirm your location, which I thought was just to confirm that you are at this area, not to confirm your exact coordinate location. If that’s the case, you don’t need this gps feature , as you have to check anyway.

Great app

SpotAngelsParkingGas has saved me from getting a parking ticket and forgetting where I’ve parked my car. I’m so thankful someone came up with this idea! The only issue for me is Some of the parking Location’s signs need to be updated. When you mark the sign as incorrect you have to take a picture. Only problem is you’re in your car focused on finding a parking spot and there’s no place to park so you can stop to take the ticket without risking getting a parking ticket. In Manhattan there are a lot of no standing truck unloading/ commercial vehicles only 7am-7pm signs where there were Free park or metered parking for everyone.

Stopped giving notifications, don’t bother

SpotAngelsParkingGas was pretty good when it first started. You put in your parking location, it warned you the night before that you had to move your car. Then it warned you again half an hour before your time was up. Cool.

Then they started asking for your location ALL THE TIME. Why do you need my location all the time unless you’re selling that data to advertisers and retailers? Take off. I’m more than happy to input my parking spot manually, thankyouverymuch. So I wrote a review saying as much and they sent me a nice message about how they were not tracking people and selling their movements and it’s all to make it easier to remember where you park. Sure, I was born yesterday, how did you guess?

A few updates ago, they changed the permissions so that if you don’t give them access to your location and your Bluetooth and probably your contacts and your blood type and credit score and I think a stool sample(?), well, it remembers where you parked, and that’s about it. I’ve had three tickets in the last 6 weeks because SpotAngelsParkingGas stopped sending reminders unless I let the dev have access to all my information.

No thanks, guys, I already have enough corporations making billions on my data. I’ll go back to using the Apple reminders app.

Money Saving App!

For cities, parking tickets have become just another form of reliable revenue, a form of hidden taxation. Unable to budget themselves, they are constantly finding new ways to take your hard earned $$$ - state taxes, sales taxes, registration fees, you name it. I am glad that this application is around to at least alleviate some pain from that greed. This is a great app, and it can really save you from parking tickets. If you live or frequently park on a street that hasn't been mapped in SpotAngelsParkingGas , take a snapshot of the sign, and the turnaround speed for this to be added to SpotAngelsParkingGas is really impressive.

DESTROYS battery life!

I downloaded SpotAngelsParkingGas after seeing some good reviews about it. First impressions were pretty good and I really liked it saving my vehicles location, but really my phone already does. My city isn't supported (the list of supported cities is very small). My phone battery was dying really quickly over the past week so today I opened up my settings to try to figure out why. SpotAngelsParkingGas drained my battery by 43% in a single day and I never even opened it. That's absolutely ridiculous! Facebook and Snapchat (both of which are known for battery draining) only took up 8%! As soon as I saw that in my settings I deleted SpotAngelsParkingGas instantly. Only download SpotAngelsParkingGas if you HAVE to use it in a major city or if you plan to visit one (but be sure to delete it afterwards if you want to keep a healthy battery)!

Clean UI & The Data I Need

I used to use Best Parking religiously when traveling to any major city. It was OK - clunky, but effective. Recently, ParkWhiz bought them, and they pushed garages over street parking at all opportunities. I can parallel park, and street parking is cheap, so this bothered me a bit. Best Parking’a latest update removed metered parking data outright, and that was it for me.

Enter Spot Angels: It replaces Best Parking 100%, and even captures alternate-side parking rules. The UI is clean - colors are used well and SpotAngelsParkingGas functions as you’d assume.

Great work, and I’m so excited to finally use a well-designed app showing me the data I need. 👍🏻

A developer who listens to bug reports!

SpotAngelsParkingGas is indeed an angel helping me find where I park my car in the city & preventing parking tickets! I love how you can search for parking locations based on when you plan to arrive & stay - paying 50¢ for a meter to get a primo spot for the rest of the evening is always a good deal. This is also one of the very *few* developers who treats you like you are part of the team squishing bugs quickly & staying on top of getting clarifications until it’s fixed. Every developer should aspire to this level of service 😇

Just a warning to any new users

The “always” allow location feature to detect where you park automatically has issues, namely that it will think you’ve parked if you go skateboarding, biking, etc. I went out skateboarding today and SpotAngelsParkingGas totally reset my parking location. This seems like an easy fix: don’t move the parking spot unless I first go to where my car is located, indicating I got in my car and drove somewhere. This seems obvious and it was frustrating that SpotAngelsParkingGas failed at this purpose. I turned off “always” allow location and will be setting my parking location manually.

Issues with Automatic

Having issues linking my Automatic Pro to SpotAngels. It links to my account but at the "Let's make sure you don't get parking tickets" screen, it tells me there was an error when I hit allow (even though the motion is enabled in the iphone setting screen). Regular account seems to work okay but I'd much prefer to have the Automatic functionality

Update: SpotAngelsParkingGas works correctly with Automatic now and the support team was great about reaching out. Review score has been updated

Looks Very Cool But...

The reason for my two star rating is that SpotAngelsParkingGas wants a lot of tracking privileges — this is ok with my as long as I’m getting a service in return — however, in two cities that I frequent (Austin and Houston) the area served by SpotAngelsParkingGas is a very very small slice of downtown. Not that useful with current offering of spaces. However, I can definitely see how SpotAngelsParkingGas could be great based on the areas that are available. I decided to delete SpotAngelsParkingGas because the area served in Houston, the largest city in Texas is very small, especially when considering “downtown is practically everywhere inside the 610 loop. I don’t want to give away my location and motion data continuously when I’ll rarely be in the specific area to use SpotAngelsParkingGas.

Trouble lately

I park on the street in Queens NY, where the side of the street is important for parking regulations. Lately SpotAngel has been putting me on the wrong side of the street and the adjust location function doesn’t always show up.

It has recently happened A LOT that I Park the car, confirm the spot, and at some point Spot Angel converts the location to a parking garage (it happens in multiple locations and there are no garages nearby). There is therefore no reminder alarm and I’ve gotten a number of tickets when I forget. This something new in the last few months.

BATTERY DRAINER!!!

I downloaded SpotAngelsParkingGas because I was going to New York. I reserved a parking and that worked well and that’s why it got 2 stars from me…. Unfortunately this thing killed my battery within MINUTES!! I was going to an event and was not able to take pictures or videos because of this. I thought something was wrong with my phone but after I got home I took a look at what apps my battery use had gone into and this was the only app that was running at the time. This glitch is crucial, what if I hadn’t written down the address of where I parked? With a dead phone late at night… just not safe.

I was sent a promo code by spot angels and when I tried to use it during my booking, there was no place to enter it. I called, emailed, texted and Whatsapp them, without any response! Pathetic. And on top of it I was charged twice by the parking facility and now I have to do all this extra work and waste time out of my busy schedule to get the credit back. Don't use spot angels, if you don't want aggravation. Pathetic company. Very bad customer support. STAY AWAY!!!...

SpotAngels was a scam for me also. Booked a parking spot in San Francisco. Showed up at the parking spot and the lady collecting cash told me SpotAngels was a scam and would not accept my printed reservation with the confirmation number.

DO NOT USE SpotAngels!! It's a complete scam. My first time using it was last friday. i booked a spot in san diego. they send you a confirmation email eith just a confirmation number from their site, then another email from a 3rd party. when i went to the address they sent me (which just had a street name and number in the email, which i should have questioned) it took me to a private residence, not a parking garage. i pulled up the email and tried to call the number.... you cant call the customer service number by clicking on it. thats on purpose. when i finally jotted down the number and dialed it, some random guy picks up and says "you gotta call the website" and hangs up. finally after a bunch of digging, they gave me a spot in SAN FRANSISCO. when you contact SpotAngels, they tell you to contact their 3rd party (Way) and when you contact Way, they say it isnt their problem and there will be no refund. IT IS A SCAM.
