I own over a dozen this app cameras and a couple DVRs and have been using them for years.

Initially, I was very impressed—which is why I continued to purchase their products. Ever since the overhaul of their app, however, it has been frustration and disappointment.

Frustration because EZVIZ freezes and crashes constantly—every 10-15 minutes of use. It has to be force closed and restarted.

Disappointment because this app Support made me run in a bunch of silly circles for weeks only to tell me in the end that they tested EZVIZ on the iPhone 11 and it works fine. As if no bug or use case could have slipped through their testing procedures.

And that was it. The problem is me says this app.

Well, if they don’t want to fix it, I will—by canceling my cloud subscription, getting rid of my this app products and switching to a more reliable brand with an app that isn’t garbage and support that actually tries to help.

I tried to work with them on this and gave them a lot of my time and patience (in addition to what i spent). It’s time to move on, and I hope that my experience helps someone else avoid the same scenario.

App intermittently logs out

Not as stable as I had hoped. I have no idea why EZVIZ seems to periodically log out. This is an unfortunate situation because you will believe that all is well and the doorbell is monitoring and will record when motion is sensed or you get an alert when someone rings but you won’t. I submitted this question via EZVIZ and I haven’t received an answer as yet. My other devices or apps do not log out so I know it’s not a fault with my internet or data plan. Please fix it!

I’m a little surprised at the ‘textbook’ response to my concern. Surely I am aware that in order to use EZVIZ , I need to sign in, open it, and keep it running in the background. This isn’t the first video doorbell or security notification app I am using. I have done all of this. The issue is after signing into EZVIZ and letting it run in the background, EZVIZ for no apparent reason signs out and then I have to enter my password again to sign in. This is a little frustrating because I miss instances when someone rings my doorbell and I’m not home, someone comes up to my door or gets within the range I have defined. I am not able to respond on time if I have to sign in my password each time the doorbell rings. I will contact the email address as indicated for further assistance.

New bug and are you ever going to fix the ability to quickly arm individual cameras???

Bug: and a really frustrating one because every time I go into a camera it has this huge, unnecessary prompt that tells me Cloudplay has expired. I do not want cloudplay nor do I need a giant reminder box taking up half the screen real estate. Then to make things worse you click this button and you cannot exit the Cloudplay subscription plan window unless you force quit EZVIZ .

STILL no update to return our ability to individually arm cameras quickly. My single star review remains until you give us this feature back. I am tired of having to dig down 3 levels to disarm one camera while keeping the others armed. What is so difficult about adding an armed or unarmed button for each device right up front on the device page?!?!?!?!

App never works right

I bought these cameras recently and they are great but EZVIZ is constantly messing up on my phone( iPhone) and my husbands(android) Causing our phones to freeze up when we go on EZVIZ or going offline a lot. Plus I hate the fact that we can’t set notifications differently on my phone and on his. He doesn’t want the notifications on but I do on my phone but it’s just either on or off. Works both phones.🙄 also the playback feature Messes up a lot to. Starts playing back something that happened during the day but switches over to a night time recording suddenly. The picture quality is great tho. There is a lot of potential for EZVIZ. Just needs some fixing. Thanks

Not good

Initially I did like these cameras and EZVIZ worked fairly well. But more and more the cameras will pick up a change in lighting but will not pick up cats moving or sometimes even me. There are times when I go in and I can’t see the cameras and have to close EZVIZ out and go back in and sometimes I have to do this multiple times. A friend is using the same cameras and app and having the same issues. I refuse to pay for the cloud service as during the 30 day trial it had a tendency to pick up a ton of light changes and would sometimes miss actual movement. So overall extremely disappointed in EZVIZ and the cameras. Sometimes while I am watching something that is streaming on my TV EZVIZ will say I have a poor connection which is baloney obviously. Unfortunately I purchased five total and would need five I am tired of throwing away money and don’t want to throw away hundreds of dollars in cameras and have to invest even more money in other cameras.

Offline

System is great!Cameras and monitor are great!! Only complaint is the mobile app is sketchy. We use it as our church surveillance system and a couple of our security team members have EZVIZ on their phones to monitor things when up and about or through the week. However EZVIZ often shows the cameras are offline for days at a time sometimes. Even though the internet did not go out (we have tested and verified this) and the monitor is still reading all cameras operational ... EZVIZ will read as cameras offline... this is a crucial part of our entire system to be able to monitor cameras while moving about the premises instead of just behind the desk any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

There is no place to put a camera outside of my home is completely brick and aluminum for gutters awesome vinyl sided can I put a hole in any of it nor would I so I have to use my cameras on the inside of the house pointing outside problem being,When you have triple pane glass or even double pay glass the camera will reflect back into your home and it will blurr out everything with the bright ultraviolet lights that come from the camera they only work if it’s outside the glass. I would like to have super strong cameras that will work without The UV lights in the camera. I would like them to be a separate mount that is very strong goes through the glass and lights up the outside that way the camera can do its job with the lighting that’s being offered that goes through three panes of glass effortlessly or make your cameras do this. I don’t think you can because your lights on the camera are very strong but for some reason they’re just blowing out everything but if I use a separate light below the camera the camera works as long as I tape off all your UV lights around the camera which is very difficult. I’ve had layers of black electrical tape and other tape to try to block out those lights because you don’t give us an option to turn them off and you should.

App locks up and still lacking native ipad support

I’ve been a long time user of this app cameras. EZVIZ has always had intermittent issues but are usually patched pretty quick. For a while now I’ve been having issues where EZVIZ can’t connect to the internet. It’s fine on all other apps but then when I open this app it will say it’s refreshing and just sit there. I have to completely close EZVIZ via EZVIZ switcher and then go back and it will load fine. Also I’m constantly being asked to login again even though I turned on face id login. Also the doorbell doesn’t show a preview. I’m sure it will be fixed eventually but still annoying

Other main issue I’ve been waiting on since the beginning is lack of ipad support. It will run in a compatibility mode but it as I use the ipad in landscape view it doesn’t rotate items like the login screen requiring me to tilt my head to read the screen. Oddly enough the rotate works when viewing cameras though. I think this app is missing a big opportunity here as having an ipad with the 2x2 grid of cameras would make a perfect security monitor. Don’t know where adding ipad support is in their priority list but wish it was given more attention.

Filters

Thank you for FINALLY adding filters to the notifications!! We’ve been using this system for 4.5 years now & that was the worst part! I’ve tested it out, and currently filtering by camera is not working, it does not even let me select the camera “front door”, regardless of whether the device (long number) is selected or not. I’ve also been having issues over the past month or so with the main screen not loading as if I have no internet, and I have to kill EZVIZ & reopen & then everything works fine. I know I have internet because I was just on the web on other apps Facebook, Twitter, etc right before opening this app. Thank you so much for adding filters! ☺️

EZVIZ

We reviewed considered and reviewed numerous systems over the last two years. We purchased this app and Waze. The this app App and Support Team were so good we returned the Waze. Our son has Simply Safe, but our this app seems to work just as well.

It should be noted, we only use the cameras when we are gone overnight. When we are home, we unplug the cameras. This can cause an issue with one logging on to the WiFi.

We have three cameras, and have had three issues. If you follow the directions step-by-step, one camera may work quickly and another may be slow to setup. This also occurred when we installed SD cards. One camera may recognize the SD card the first try and another won’t. We repeated the steps and eventually worked.

The third issue is we have false alarms, usually two each day, one at around 06:30 and the other around 23:00? We checked the settings and that doesn’t appear to be the issue? Maybe we have a ghost?

Love EZVIZ and camera, but please update c3w Camera. Cause get way to many alerts. I have the sensitivity set low and areas blacked out. And still get a lot of alerts when there is nothing or just the sun goes behind a cloud and than comes back out. Want it to work so I know if someone is coming up to my door and walkway. Check when get alerts and it’s about 97% of the time not anyone. Just nothing or in black out areas when a car or person walks down the road/sidewalk it still detects when it shouldn’t.

Best App and cameras

I own many different types of cameras and unfortunately used different apps with all of them. I recently moved and at first I was happy that I didn’t have to buy any new cameras because I have so many. Yet, when attempting to set them up I had problems with all except my this app which I quickly setup within a minute or two without any problems.

Thinking back over the years how I tended to like the this app app best of all I used, how the camera just worked and I never had any issues with it, and how the features worked great and were so easy to use, I decided to put all my other cameras into a storage bin and buy more this app to replace them.

Got my new cameras. Once again very quick and effortless setup process. Cameras are up and working flawlessly. It’s great being able to view all the cameras with one app. Quickly turn on “Leaving Home Mode” with a push of a button and all the cameras are set to send notifications if they detect any motion.

My only complaint is that their iPad app isn’t optimized of iPad. I usually use my phone with works great, but sometimes I like to view on my larger iPad. It works on iPad but can tell it’s not optimized for iPad. Although, full screen video on the iPad is amazing.

Great camera

Bought this as a baby monitor, because it had better features and a better price. Other cameras will say HD which is technically true, but in this day and age 720p does not count as HD. You want 1080p like this camera has. The microphone on this camera is really good! The motor on the camera that moves it 360 degrees is really quite. The apps joystick control feature is on point, not too sensitive and not too laggy. You need to realize that this camera will not work on a 5 ghz network, but most wireless routers today will broadcast in 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz. Honestly, there really is nothing I don't like about this camera. Oh, it can also be mounted on the ceiling and you can flip the video in EZVIZ !

While other apps update and get worse EZVIZ just keeps getting better!

For real though, I am sick and tired of app updating and screwing everything up that was already working decent! Every update that this app has done so far has been improvements, and they weren’t bad to begin with. In fact, I tried quite a few other IP cameras and there was always something that would irritate me about them and I’d move to the next one until I got to this app and I’ve been with them ever since. I do have one request though, and that is I would like them to make a smaller spy camera for hiding it better. Kind of in need of one of those right now..

I love my this app cameras and EZVIZ. It works exactly as I had hoped. My cameras provide exceptional quality video and I pretty much just set my schedule and my geofence and haven’t had to mess with it at all. I get notifications when there’s movement on my cameras and I can check it immediately. My mother stays with me from time to time and she’s not very mobile so it helps me keep an eye on her when I’m not home and I can communicate with her through the speaker and she doesn’t have to worry about trying to use a cell phone (which she’s not very good at due to a lack of motor skills).

I highly recommend these cameras and EZVIZ!

Works great for my business

I’ve been using this app for my store for over 5 years and the cameras are crystal sharp, even at night where they were able to identify the thieves, usually HS students, during the day and a couple robberies at night where the video sent them to prison 👍. I rarely have any time outs, and on the rare occasion I do just do a restart and problem is solved. The only issue I have is the expense of saving to the cloud. Prices per camera are ridiculous and asinine! No other cloud account I use charges that kind of price. So sadly I have to “erase” my video if I want to clear it which I rarely do as I have up to seven days of video so it hasn’t been an issue. I love that I can look at my cameras on my phone 24/7, capture any video or images I need and save it there so it can’t be erased as I only pay .99 cents for Apple Icloud a month...just saying.

this app camera images are great and EZVIZ just keeps getting better and better with very helpful features every update. Ackerman Security installed many years ago and whenever I switch internet providers and reconnect the router EZVIZ will tell you to reset cameras and I was able to figure it out (cameras are marked with a reset cover you unscrew and press and hold down tiny button until you hear app chirp that cameras were detected and the image appears). Once you learn how to adjust the zones and sensitivity you can really cut down on the video captures you want to see. Reading other reviews, I’m glad I have only owned this app. Rarely has it missed detection (one camera must have temporarily went offline for some reason) and I guess I’m okay with it recording sudden flares of sunshine and large shadow movements. Very reassuring to be able to see your property when away and see when packages are delivered and know not to answer door for solicitors and see what animals creep around. Thanks, this app!!!

Love EZVIZ

We had a this app dome several years back and loved it. We wanted to upgrade to a bigger system with more cameras and Lowes didn’t carry this app so we went with another brand. Big mistake. After using this app you will not want anything else. It’s just so easy to navigate and the system is simple and straight forward. We wouldn’t change if we were paid to. Other cam systems are so exhausting and hard to learn. Now with the latest update it is perfect. As with any camera on Wi-Fi they could miss the occasional animal but it’s the Wi-Fi not cam. 10 out of 10!

Geofence

I live EZVIZ but only gave it a 3 star because the geofence doesn’t work properly. It only works once after setting it up then the next time you leave it doesn’t work at all. You have to delete your routines and set up every time you leave. I’ve tried everything and there is zero support for this feature on EZVIZ or online. Disappointing.

Update: after the recent app update the Geofence has worked perfectly for over a week now. Problem solved and I’ve updated my rating to reflect that!

Great investment

I have been using my cameras along with EZVIZ for about 3 years now and I have been able to see things that are going on around my home with ease. While I’m at work, having EZVIZ I was able to see an uninvited man in my home, while he was in my home I was able to call the police and he was apprehended a block away. The only thing I don’t like is I never knew I was this fat😞 and I notifications for the 🐜 flying around the camera but overall I’m pleased and I like the updated app features. This works well for me.

Not reliable!

Since the most recent app update, the camera picture freezes every night for hours causing me to have to restart my iPad. This also happens on my iPhone 8 Plus and my husband’s iPhone X. This is terrifying as my daughter has nocturnal seizures and it is imperative that we monitor her all throughout the night. I have not been sleeping well because I’ll wake up and see the camera has been frozen for hours and I won’t know if she’s breathing or not. Please fix this! Also, there is no way to contact you on your website. The numerous links for customer service just send you back to the main page. Not good when I’m paying for a subscription service to monitor our video recordings.

On initial startup the thumbnail images are blank and the screen has to be pulled down to refresh in order for the image to populate. Frustrating that it doesn't do this upon opening. Most importantly the video playback is very cumbersome. There needs to be the ability to watch the video at x2, x4, x6 speed. When reviewing a video to catch an incident you're forced to watch the video at real time which is very time consuming if you don't have a window of time to reference. Further, if you try to skip ahead, a minute for example, there’s no way to be that precise; not to mention the playback will get confused and buffer 9 times out of 10 if you try to choose times. All of this is assuming the image ever populates. I find no matter the connection speed you’re likely to get a spinning buffer wheel that never goes away.
Also, why no ipad app to utilize a full landscape screen! Poor execution overall.

Used to work Great! “Used to”

When this is operational, it’s incredible! My Mini 720p worked day and night with zero problems. Setup was quick! New network? No problem. Well...there must have been an app update because now the SD card isn’t recognized and says “No SD card inserted” or something. But it worked perfectly before. Tried several cards and nothing. So after erasing the device, tried adding again. Nope! I get a “device exception” error. Everything worked perfectly except the SD card wasn’t recognized. Now, EZVIZ won’t even let me install it. There’s absolutely no workaround. So, I guess the camera is obsolete once deleted. ...although it worked an hour ago. :/

Buggy

This version of the iOS app is very buggy. Upon launching EZVIZ it immediately hangs before loading the camera images. At that point EZVIZ freezes and the only solution is to force-close and relaunch. Other users are reporting the same issue.

Also, since this update, I have been receiving “video loss” push notifications on a daily basis. I have six cameras plugged into my 8-channel NVR. The video loss alerts are for the two unused channels. There is no option in this version of EZVIZ to disable the alerts. I have been working with this app support over the last couple of days but no solution yet.

Latest update freezes in the background, otherwise adequate app.

It’s not the greatest app, but it always worked. I particularly love that you can just swipe between all your cameras (I have 9!) when viewing live. There have been a couple of times since the latest update where I get the circle of death and a blank screen. I have to force close EZVIZ and then every time it works fine upon restart. Hopefully this will be fixed! I’ve missed a couple of important things (I have 4 kids and 2 cats and sometimes I need to know what’s happening NOW!). (wish I could have 2 way audio with echos)

Good, but one feature missing

Overall, I find EZVIZ meeting my needs. I use it to connect to a mini 360, but I still can’t believe that they have one key feature missing: when you are in landscape mode with your device, and are watching your camera’s video stream, there is no way for the pan / tilt or be brought on screen. There is a on screen menu that has some shortcuts, but it is missing the pan/tilt. You have to rotate the thing to portrait mode, slide the stupid advertisement for cloud storage service out of the way, and then find the pan/tilt buried under it.

Why not have such a basic control right at your fingertips? I find this flaw the most annoying about EZVIZ. That and the fact you can’t use a plain web browser to connect directly to the cameras on your LAN without going through the cloud.

Developers, PLEASE FIX THE PAN/TILT SHORTCUT.

Great App and system just one problem

I just recently but this Security camera system and it works great picture quality is amazing and set up is very simple but my only problem is that my notifications intermittently stop working and then they will just start working again and this goes on for days at a time I mean the hole point to have cameras on your home is so that you know what’s going on when your not home but with no notifications to what’s going on while your not at home then what’s the point of having them so if they can fix that issue then in my eyes this would be a 5star product

Latest firmware and App updates break IFTTT Support

The latest camera firmware and app update has broken IFTTT support. This is completely ridiculous considering that's the only real reason I got a Mini Pro.

Update: must have been temporary. The IFTTT support is now functional again.

Some IFTTT is up and running again, I can say EZVIZ is OK for what it is. Some of the menu items should be toggles or buttons instead of what looks like a settings menu link. For the sloppiness, I'm taking away one star.

Also, I can tell this wasn't made by a native English speaker but it really doesn't take away from the core functionality of EZVIZ itself.

For those of you who complain about the camera itself not connecting, you're either too far away from your WiFi router or your not following the instructions. It's not EZVIZ 's fault and likely user error.

Great System Great Price

Most of the complaints I've read here tonight that the system "cannot" or "doesn't" do is to the contrary.

I've read the manual I printed and their is not much this system won't do. You can change order of camera, you can set only specific zones within a picture to detect motion and the sensitivity adjustments work very well.

Take some time to print the manual and read it. Call customer support , they will walk you through anything. I could not be more pleased with the product to date and all the bells and whistles.

For review: I have three different cameras and a doorbell camera from Ez-viz. Excellent system that does not require a subscription to any services! All have been easy to install including the doorbell camera. My only suggestion is to increase the Font size in the owner's manual, especially for the code needed to connect.
