Hunger games in the lot. Do not use this

Unless your school has 2 kids in it, PikMyKid will crash as soon as parents try to announce their arrival. Took 1.5 hours to get all of the elementary aged kids out of my kid’s small school. The system crashed as soon school let out. Save yourself the trouble and do not even mess with this junk heap! If there were a negative star option, this would be the time to use it. I’ve never reviewed anything in my life, so that should give you some indication as to how bad this was. Trust me and stay away. Our school’s parking lot was like the hunger games. Parents were blocking the road, there was a giant game of snake happening in the church parking lot south of the school. People were cutting in cars and narrowly avoiding fender benders...can’t say enough. It was pandemonium. I’m sure the developers are nice folks, they just created an app that just doesn’t work.

Good concept, until you think about it

I have three main issues with PikMyKid : First, it needs a few more development cycles to add all the functions it needs to match reality. The way PikMyKid is currently set up, my family needs to have a discussion every afternoon to determine who is picking up the kids so I can enter the correct person into PikMyKid . If I’m in a meeting and miss the deadline, oh well.
Second, human nature is to wait as little as possible. In less than a week, people at our school have already figured out how to cheat the system to jump the car lines.
Finally, it is a crime to be using a cell phone while driving in a school zone. I’m supposed to watch traffic, kids, look for the stop sign and fumble with PikMyKid? Just not a good idea.

UGH!!!!

Horrible app! Can’t set up recurring appts unless it’s daily or weekly - so if you have one delegation MWF and a different one TR you’re out of luck. You have to stop EVERY day and change their delegations. THIS IS A HORRIBLE PROGRAM FOR WORKING PARENTS! Just made life harder, not easier! Also doesn’t allow you to review delegation selections - before you send them, or after you assign them! Then try to call customer support and the phone number listed on their web site says OUT OF SERVICE! Can’t believe my school picked this application. Wish I could give it 0 stars. This is basic scheduling technology
- obviously the school likes if for liability reasons but no one is developing this on the parent side.

OK. Meh... Just OK.

Our school adopted this system about a year ago and so we are somewhat forced to use it. Some of the workflows inside the application are not intuitive, and the fact that the help bubbles appear every time you login is irritating; yeah, I got how to use the application last year. Also needs touch ID support so I don’t have to keep re-entering my password while trying to perform routine tasks such as changing pick up or marking one of my kids absent. Good idea, just mediocre execution lets down what could be a great app.

User Unfriendly!

The school made PikMyKid mandatory for parents and I think more research and demos should have been carried out first. It’s so frustrating to navigate PikMyKid, everything I’ve needed to do so far (change pick up mode, delegate another parent) I’ve had to email support to get an answer, and the response is not fast, presumably because so many other people struggle with this horrible app. The edit button is useless, it allows you to change nothing. So I email my son’s teacher and bypass PikMyKid whenever possible. If we weren’t forced to download this waste of data, there’s no way it would still be on my phone.

Delegation is a pain

So our school has used PikMyKid for 2.5 years at least. Other than a glitch here and there it works well. The delegation editing is a total pain. Like many working parents I have help with carpool (regularly) certain days of the week. You can’t delegate “Tuesdays and Thursdays” you have to manually pick the days and can not skip a day. Can’t repeat weekly. Unless I’m missing something, this is an issue with PikMyKid....

Not user friendly.

PikMyKid is poorly designed but offers a practical service to schools. It’s ludicrous that you need to create each child’s schedule separately, without the option to create the same schedule for multiple kids at once. It’s also very difficult to confirm the delegations. It needs an option to show you day by day what your delegations are that covers all children.

Convenient and easy!

I just got PikMyKid and it is going great so far!!! PikMyKid works smoothly. I haven't had any of the problems. I like that the interface is kept simple. Navigation is simple, smooth and effective. Overall exceeded my expectations!

Terrible App

School adopted PikMyKid so we were forced to use. App itself is terrible and time consuming. Interface is not user friendly. Have to “delegate” each child in family separately. No way to look at week as whole can only look at current day. Makes any type of carpool a nightmare. One of the most unnecessary apps and aspects of my child’s education. Pick up time went from 5-8 minutes to 40. NIGHTMARE- Don’t let your school invest in this program!

Clunky

Almost as bad was a web-based app gets. Keeps popping up a what’s new window. Can’t see existing pickup calendar at a glance. Setting recurrences for the future is confusing. Needs a lot of UX love, and ideally a native iOS app.

Pretty efficient

PikMyKid is fast and it has been helpful for me with all kinds of alerts and notifications about our kid timings and everything.

Pretty cool and convenient

It’s nice to be able let the school know how my daughter is going home for the day if I’m late. Or I can even coordinate a carpool to go home with her friend. The carpool line is a lot quicker too.

Terrible

PikMyKid leaves a lot to be desired. There is no real time responsiveness from when you tap in the screen and the action is completed. It sometimes takes several minutes from when you tap and the action is complete. This is not related to how new your phone is. Also PikMyKid frequently freezes and quits. Please fix these bugs!

It works

My school requires PikMyKid for pick up. I was skeptical when I read the reviews, but it hasn’t failed me yet. I am able to this app up with your a hitch

HORRIBLE APP

Whatever you do, please beg, fight, insist or anything else you see fit to prevent your school from using PikMyKid...
It has taken 1.5 years for the school to figure PikMyKid out..they had all summer to fix it..
Nothing has improved, nothing has changed..just more and more frustration..
Pick up times went from 10 min to now 25-30 min...
Seriously 30 minutes to get a child from school....
PikMyKid doesn’t not take into consideration families with multiple kids for crap, they say they do but it continually fails...
2.2 STAR RATING FOR A FOOD REASON...
and they are making millions on a 2.2 rating...
Joke is on the schools paying for it...
