Current Version 3.7 crashes on my iPad Pro when starting. Can’t use ScoreCam at all right now, which was bad timing as I tried to film my son’s travel hockey team game. Upgrading to iOS 14 didn’t solve the issue, unfortunately.

I’ve used ScoreCam for 4 years now to record game video for my son’s travel hockey teams. I don’t use the scoreboard for those, but the ability to pause records for all the dead time and keep each period to one video was my initial selling point. Upgraded to Pro so I could tweak bit rate and all those settings too. Last year wanted to try the Live Stream feature, however it needs to be separated from the video recording to be effective. When the live stream fails (which can happen with bad cellular or WiFI at many rinks) the video stops recording. The game video is the more important part and I don’t want to not have that when the live stream may go up/down. Would love a separate button to start/stop the live stream from the record/pause/stop for the recording. Right now I use a different product on my iPhone to live stream and literally clamp it to the top of my iPad to stream and record and I thought this one app would have solved that for me. With Covid it’s even more important I can live stream since spectators at hockey games are very limited. I’m the life line for the parents on our team.

Loved ScoreCam until the new iOS updates came out. I deleted and reinstalled ScoreCam as the developer requested and have the same problems.

I have tried both normal and alternate recording modes and when it comes time to save the video and clips I get the saving circle for 20 plus minutes. If you close ScoreCam you loose everything you recording including highlights. The video and clips won’t save no matter what you do. I’ve tried everything.

I have had to go back to using the iPhone camera to record my videos because this app won’t save videos . I paid for the pro version and it was awesome and now it is not. I’ve lost a lot of video that would of been used to make recruiting videos . The reels are lost forever now. Please fix ScoreCam ASAP. It used to be awesome 😥

I used ScoreCam to record several of my daughters games. I like the being able to use the remote app to pause and restart the recording as well as save highlights. But there are two major issues. One, the video quality is severely demolished when using ScoreCam . Not matter what settings I change. I followed instructions from the troubleshooting steps but nothing helps.

The other MAJOR issue. In two separate cases the video did not save. I lost two entire games due to an error in ScoreCam when saving to the phone at the end of the games.

Terrible.

Will not family share. I bought it on my brother’s phone which is also paid for on my account. It doesn’t allow family sharing of my year long purchase even though it says on ScoreCam that it can. So I can’t use it on my phone now that I’ve upgraded.

Bigger problem: does VERY poorly in less than optimal connection situation. It says it has “logarithmic descend” activated so it is supposed to upload the video as soon as the connection is optimal or restored. But it does not. It just cuts the connection and sometimes randomly crashes.

You must babysit it the entire time in case you have to start it back up again. Has ruined multiple streams. I sent an email to the developers with the “error log” with no results.

I paid for the extras but, I recorded (1) basketball game and we play easily (8) a day and it clogged up 2gb’s which is fine. This is why I paid for extra TB’s in my one drive. But, when I go to transfer it ScoreCam keeps saying the video has errors and will not transfer. I was only able to record (1) of the games. Due to it eating all of my battery and taking so long for the file transfer. I don’t like that there are only + & - for fouls only I wish this feature was on the points as well because I am constantly swiping to fix it because it keeps going up. Now I have no video of the game and wasted my money and time. I will be looking for a new app, unfortunately now I have wasted my money.

ScoreCam is exactly what I need. It has all the options you’d be looking for to record a hockey game, with the ability to save the video without pauses on whistle and with a scoreboard always present. The ability to take highlights as you go is a gamechanger.

Unfortunately it’s unpredictable. 25% of the time the video records but doesn’t remove the pauses. No reason whatsoever. I did absolutely the same thing as the time before. 95% of the time the highlight feature doesn’t work. You take the highlights during the game and it looks like it worked but afterwards nothing appears in photos or any other folders.

All in all frustrating after recording 75 minutes of video to find out it didn’t work as expected. Then you try next time and it works no problem. I want to love ScoreCam but the instability makes it a love hate relationship at the moment. And yes I have reached out to the developer who is responsive at least initially but having no rhyme or reason makes it impossible to recreate. And I can only delete and reinstall ScoreCam so many times before that becomes frustrating. Hoping he can figure out these gremlins which would make this a for sure recommend.

We have three children in sports and the scoreboard settings are great for soccer, basketball and volleyball (and more). The remote works well but the problem comes when you’re not monitoring the device that’s filming. ScoreCam will freeze and lock and then the film in not recoverable. Very disappointing when a whole set doesn’t record. It has been suggested to uninstall, restart and reinstall. This fixes the problem temporarily but then it inevitably crashes again. It’s still the best filming/scoreboard app but it is far from perfect. (This has been consistent over multiple devices and iOS version, I always have the latest iPhone)

Three stars for no Bluetooth mic support. I use a Shokz Bluetooth headset and give that to my announcer and I run the stream and they call the game. That’s the way to stream youth sports. Let the parents run commentary. It’s awesome!

It works on all the other platforms so why not this? I would rather have Bluetooth mic support than a bluetooth remote scoreboard, and I’m not sure if that is where the problem lies, but if you could make it an option to chose one or the other, or support both… then I would use it and give it five stars.

Overall I think this is a good app. There are plenty of scoreboard options. You can record to iPhone AND stream at same time which isn’t what most apps offer. However, ScoreCam hasn’t been updated in a year and there have been multiple iOS updates and camera updates. It needs to allow 4K in 60fps but doesn’t.

I’d add you can’t contact the manufacturer except through ScoreCam but I use another email app so I can’t.

We love ScoreCam and use it for our kids volleyball and basketball games. To keep score while recording and having it on the screen is such a wonderful feature. And the automatic edit makes it seamless.

Improvements I would recommend:
When using the longboard with clock scoreboard type the clock feature doesn’t seem to work. Would be helpful to be able to edit clock time similar to how scores can be adjusted when imputed incorrectly while recording. Also there seems to be a bug when the sbremote is connected via Bluetooth using this scoreboard type a notification of “this app connected?” Pops up even when both are connected. And continues to pop up after you tap to dismiss the notification. I think this notification IS necessary if you are too far from your recording device and there is an actual disconnection. Which has happen to us and we weren’t aware until after the game and no scores were recorded.

I have recommended ScoreCam to so many other people who have seen us record and love the score keeping option.

I have had this app for over a year to record volleyball and basketball games and get highlights. I mostly use it for the highlights, but occasionally I will have to record full games and upload them to Hudl for the coaches. The thing I love about this app is the ability to choose the highlight time. I also find the pause button to be very useful.

I have not had much success with live streaming with ScoreCam and I do wish there was a way to make that work easier.

I also have seen some comments about it not working for some, but I wonder if that is related to the processing power of the device they are using. I use an iPad Pro and I rarely run into any issues. Even when it has had trouble saving the video, the recovery function works great.

Overall very happy with ScoreCam and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get highlights. Saves a ton of time!

Everything is great about ScoreCam , intuitive to use and all. But recently after upgrading my phone to iPhone 14, the videos are not saved properly any more. Only the last bit is saved and a message popped telling me videos are recovered. In the end I have bits and pieces of videos clips rather than one continuous video. Can you update ScoreCam to support the new iPhone asap? Thanks!

I love ScoreCam but use it a little differently. I don’t want to use my phone to record my kids games. I use GoPro or a DSLR with good zoom. I then use this app in post production to add the scoreboard into my footage. I sometimes run the scoreboard during the game and layer it in. Or I just create the scoreboard as it should have been during the post edit. Would really love a good American football scoreboard. 5 stars if I can get American football!

ScoreCam started off great when i first purchased it. Then from time to time it would lock up on me during tournaments. I was contacted by the developer who gave me access to a “pilot program” in the off season so i have not been able to test it out. Volleyball season is now in full affect and ScoreCam drags HORRIBLY now. What i mean is that as a play is taking place ScoreCam is recording with about a one second delay. I checked to make sure it was not the camera on my iPad. I feel let down as i have missed the opportunity to record my daughter playing volleyball.

UPDATE:
After my initial rating of 1 star i was contacted by the developer. That alone impressed me. I have now used ScoreCam for a second season of volleyball and i have to say that it has worked flawlessly. I was able to record my daughter playing volleyball without any issues.

I have been using ScoreCam for four years and it has been nothing but rocksolid. If you invest some time it has customization to make the logos look very professional. I video hockey so the easy to use power play clock and shots on goal are features most other scoreboards do not have. The remote control app is brilliant. The zoom buttons are smart. We are now looking to use the branding to bring in some sponsors. The live streaming feature became very popular during Covid, and has now been a staple in our organization. there are so many features. this app has so many features that I haven’t even used such as highlight button and score updating.

If you’re a one-man band, then this is a great solution.

I am hoping for a instant slomo replay button but I know that’s a lot to ask since this is a feature that requires production truck crews.

The level of customization you can do on the scoreboard is great. I only use it for hockey, but I can have as much or as little detail as I want (score, period, time, penalties, shots). You can have it all on there, or just one or two things if you want.

The first time I used it, the feedback from the people watching the stream was incredible. They were really impressed with how professional it looked.

Getting it to work with FB is a bit of a trick, but once I figured out how to set it up, I never had a problem with it.

I stream or record volleyball games for both my daughters. ScoreCam is great! I love being able to pause and start when there is down time during a match. The other awesome feature that doesn’t get enough attention is the highlight function. My older daughter was at the age last year where she wanted to get recruited by a college program. this app made creating highlights so easy! Then I could go through them and compile highlight videos that she could send to college coaches.

Started videoing daughters vball games. Tried using a camera and had to use pc to merge the video files (took forever) and only way to get score on screen was to constantly flash my phone in front of camera. Now this app app does everything (video in a single video file, allow live stream, highlights, score directly on screen and a remote control). Currently using iPhone 6 with a tripod and an external battery pack to supply power. Great app!

I originally tried ScoreCam and had some issues that led me to briefly wait to make this my main video recording app for recording my kids sports. I gave some feedback to Pachyderm and they resolved my issues. I now use it all the time.
I have requested new features I would like added and each time they get back to me very quickly (usually the same day) and have made the changes I requested. They have been great to work with.

I’ve worked for a media production company for 15 years and with an appreciation for what is typically required for an interactive graphics overlay, ScoreCam is nothing short of genius in its design, functionality, versatility and end result. The encoding efficiency is great as well as there’s no artifacts around the bug during high motion panning. Using a tablet to control the scoreboard is very convenient and worked perfectly for my application which was a youth baseball game. Being able to mute audio from the remote app was very helpful as well in between innings. One feature enhancement to this (that I figure would be reasonable for a typical device hardware to manage) would be the ability to add/drop a still image slate in place of the video, for a more polished end-to-end production, perhaps with a button to control this placed next to the audio mute and also, the choice to play loop a pre-canned mp3 of whatever song with the still slate, but the latter would be a real “nice-to-have”.
