Zero customer service consistently

It’s a great idea. But human beings obviously make mistakes and are forgetful. If you have ADHD or even mild dementia, definitely do NOT put money on the line. Some of their email reminders go into spam. They say if you accidentally forgot to report, contact them. So I did. Twice. I certainly got the automatic emails which told me that customer support would be in touch with me, but both times, ZERO reply. I has been for weeks now.
I’m still having a devil of a time figuring out how to change my commitment to non-monetary. I asked with help for that as well. Crickets. They do nothing for customers and yet super happy to keep wrongly charging your card! Don’t do it unless you don’t put money on the line.
Also, what is thoroughly annoying with stickK, is that it makes you sign-in each and every time repeatedly… All other apps that I have don’t require so much password asking… Not even my own banks!!!! It should be like Instagram or Facebook where you can open and report immediately. Still I don’t suggest it unless you decide not to put money on the line. …but then, you likely won’t use it. If customer service actually responded and were able to reimburse me (I have proof that I completed my tasks), then I’d give this 5 stars.
Seriously, no customer support, especially involving money, can make a 5 star app go to a one star app. They should know better. Hope thousands read this review.

Cool concept but too many bugs

At first I thought this sounded like a good idea. Something that would encourage me to stick with my plan to meet my goals sounded wonderful. So I signed up. Two goals. stickK doesn't work properly. Actually the this app website has issues too. Right off the bat, I didn't get any reminder emails to update my reports. The website didn't remind me, nor did stickK notify me if I had a report due. I contacted them and was taken through a series of checks to see if I had everything set up correctly. I did. So I ended up setting my own reminders in my iCal so I wouldn't forget to submit my reports. The only email reminders I got were AFTER I submitted my report...at that point it would remind me. And I NEVER got reminders from stickK either. I don't have much patience for such a buggy system. I mean, seriously, aren't the this app people responsible for making sure their system works??? I never missed a report so I didn't lose any money, but I was very put off by the problems. I won't be doing this again.

Update-Don’t bother with this, horrible

After posting previous review I did finally get a response. They were very helpful and refunded my money. For that reason I did up their rating from 1 to 3 stars.

Customer support is non existent. Was charged $25 even though I checked in. Have tried to contact them going on three weeks about how to close my account and make sure they no longer have access to my credit card number. Y’all are better off going a real life support group more effective and it’s free.

Updated Review

I have been using stickK for about a year and found it to be very useful. I had taken down a previous review that was negative for not having a way to correct a report that had a mistake. However, their customer support contacted me, correcting the report and said that a refund was on the way. So all in all, stickK has worked out well. The only thing I would ask of them would be for this app to add an article on their FAQs or help database on what to do if a reporting mistake had happened. That way, we can alleviate the panic attack of having sent money to an anti-charity. ;)

You have one job and you don’t do it well

stickK looks pretty. The idea is awesome, but they failed on execution. It takes like 8 clicks to submit a report on one of your goals. If you have 8 goals, this means stickK actually creates an annoying barrier to completing those reports. It has the exact opposite effect of what is intended. I wanted to feel accountability and inspiration to chip away at my goals and instead I dread having to manually log each individual report every day. Why does it ask me if I want to submit a video EVERY SINGLE TIME? And why doesn’t it just lay out my progression in an easy to view layout? I feel like I could have designed a better user interface on the back of a napkin.

WARNING: difficult and no way to cancel contracts/delete accounts

This is basically a LEGALLY binding contract disguised as a fun, useful app. There isn’t enough emphasis on the severity of your contracts.

Making a report is confusing and you only have a certain amount of time to report. Personally, this just defeats the purpose since you can’t just report when you do what you’ve committed to do.

Also if you decide that this method isn’t going to work for you AFTER you’ve made a commitment, too bad.

You can’t cancel it without a doctor’s excuse basically.

You can’t change your stakes so you don’t lose money to “anti-charities.”

I submitted a customer support request 3 or 4 days ago to help me at least fix my reports (since I did what I committed to do, even though I can’t report it.) No reply.

I submitted another one just now but I’m under the impression that they probably won’t respond and send some of my money to the anti charity anyway.

There are much better ways to motivate yourself.

Great Concept but . . .

I love the concept but the problem comes down to reporting. If you miss a report it’s the same as missing the challenge. Now that doesn’t sound like a big deal except for if there’s an issue with the software or you have an issue being online. The ability to fix the report is next to impossible, to a point where I disputed the charge with my credit card for the first time ever. I think it’s a great concept that I would have continued using had they had better customer support or ability to “challenge” unsuccessful reports.

By

Motivating, but limited

Love the idea of stickK, but I’d like the ability to log Reports on a daily or monthly basis, rather than just a weekly timeline! I’ll keep using stickK for my weekly goals, but I’d use it more if there were alternate reporting time frames!

By

Great app overall

First off, fantastic app overall - really helps me get things done. One thing I’d like to see changed is the option of setting the “end of commitment” date to the same day or the next day rather than two days after the commitment. Sometimes I want to get a particular task done by the end of the day with a reminder from this app that evening or the next day rather than two days afterward. Thanks for making stickK/website!

By

Great motivator!!

I’ve tried 6 or 7 different habit tracking apps with little to no success. After hearing about this app on Tim Ferris’s podcast I downloaded stickK and I’ve been able to actually stick to my goals and stay on track. This is the perfect antidote for procrastinators like me. A MUST for anyone that needs a little extra push when it comes to following through on your plans.

Provides Motivation

I’ve used this app off and on for the past few years, and now I’m using it again to get back into shape. The ability to put financial stakes on a contract is key, and having supporters is icing on the cake. Together, they’ve provided me with the motivation I needed to begin a regular exercise routine again. Thank you, this app team!

Brilliant App

This is a brilliant app, and just what I needed. However, the one thing that’s keeping me from giving a 5-star review is that I need to login every single time I open it, though I never logout. I find this quite annoying and see it as a deterrent for those who want to move quickly through an app.

Incredible!

stickK is amazing. I was having such a hard time staying faithful to my husband and my family, but this app changed everything. Who knew that you could get so much support from the community?!? Now I’m faithful to myself, my husband, my family, and my community! Thank you, this app!!!

Best Habit Tracking/Accountability App

stickK has helped me Stikk to my fitness goal like nothing else......I set up my account so it pulls money from my bank account and sends it to the charity I hate the most (😬😬😬). It works.

It’s also simple and straightforward, nothing extra that you don’t need to distract you from actually reaching your goals.

Customer service is fast to reply and very helpful.

I already had my whole family sign up for it too, I’d recommend it to ANYONE for ANY GOAL. 😄

Love this app

Love stickK! Super helpful and I keep adding goals each week. I have added things into my life that inhale wanted to do for a long time now. Man if you put money on the line it is really motivating.
Highly recommend

Keeping me on track - nice update!

Finally a no gimmick solution for people who actually want to *do what they say they will*

The new design looks amazing!! Can't wait to see what's next with this company. Keep the good ideas flowing :)

SCAM ALERT

This website is a scam! They will take your money. I created an account and set a goal. stickK then auto logged me out and when I tried to log in it said I never made an account. I already linked the account to my bank info. I contacted customer service more than once and did not hear back. Now I have to talk to my bank to decline the charges going through. I am so angry because of these jerks

This thing rocks

Ive been tryinng to get myself to the gym for months now. Literally downloaded stickK , sent my commitment, put some stakes.. and now ive been going weekly for the past 2 months. Genius.

By

Great App!

I've been a user of this app for a while now and stickK is awesome. Great improvement from what it used to be. Easy to use app that helps me accomplish my goals! Love the anti-charity feature too 👍🏼👍🏼

By

Great Idea, Horrible Execution.

I have tried using stickK many life to try to keep myself working out in the gym with money but it charged me once for a workout that I did. I don’t know why this happened and I contacted support team and it’s been a month and I still haven’t gotten my money. I didn’t want to make negative review but please just be careful when using stickK.

By

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY

There have been many days I have not been able to log into my account due to issues with this app. I had tried logging in on stickK and through the web and it didn’t work. My password never changed and I was able to log in some days and not others. I contacted customer service and received no answer. I want to cancel my account and have not been able to. I have been charged everyday I have not been able to login. This is not right!!

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!

By

Forfeit is better

I like the whole concept of these. However, $5 per checkin is ridiculous. I can do a checkin with forfeit only with $1. Also, the support staff for this app is super rude. At least with forfeit, you can set the firmness of your commitments. I think in total that forfeit is significantly better.

By

If I could give it 0 I would

My app stopped working halfway through and I was charged because I was unable to report. I have sent four emails and left four voicemails and have not heard a response. I was charged for not reporting, but my mom never received the money. I don’t know where it went. Extremely disappointed in their unresponsiveness and inability to manage their business. It feels like a scam.

By

ITS STEALING MY MONEY

DO NOT DOWNLOAD stickK! I’ve been using this app for a while now but all of a sudden it’s now just charging $30 me every day for my goal, even though I’ve been checking in every day saying I have accomplished my goal. stickK is horrible and needs to be removed from stickK Store. I’ve reported it to Apple as a scam, and I recommend everyone who has had their money unfairly taken from them to do the same.

By

Terrible customer support

I’ve tried to cancel my account for 2 weeks now since stickK is so glitchy and sometimes doesn’t let you login. Customer service is non existent- no response whatsoever and there is no way to cancel without them. Do yourself a favor and avoid the burden of stickK.

By

DO NOT USE

Was hoping to break a bad habit but ended up stuck in a horrible system where I lost $5 every time I didn’t log in and report that I didn’t do the bad habit, even though stickK has no idea whether I’m lying or not. Unhelpful and will likely cost me money. Do not use stickK.

By

Glitchy app mistakenly charged me $90 and customer service won’t reply to my request for a refund!

I initially liked stickK because I found its motivational techniques to be effective. But a significant glitch in stickK prevented me from logging into my account and reporting progress on my goals, so stickK started charging me (daily anti-charity donations were the stakes I set for my goals). I tried repeatedly to reach customer service (via email and phone) to get this problem fixed and to get a refund for the unfair charges that were racking up, but there was no response. It’s been over two weeks and I still have not heard anything from them. It’s been so long that I am honestly wondering if they even have customer service representatives on their staff. You can never get an actual person on their customer service phone line, just a voicemail.

Even before this problem, I had noticed stickK was glitchy/poorly designed in other ways: the “Report Now” button disappears, I am constantly being harassed by stickK to post a video (annoying splash screens come up each time I report progress on a goal), and stickK never remembers my account so I have to log in every time I use stickK .

The idea for stickK is not bad, but there are some significant design flaws and glitches. I would give it three stars, but the utter lack of customer service means I have not choice to to give one star. Barring big changes to stickK , I will never use it again

Slow

I like it in general. It helped me setting a goal and tracking my adherence. I only have two complaints. First, it takes too long for a screen to refresh. My goals are set up so I submit daily reports. A single yes/no click takes about 20 seconds to refresh. And in about 10% of time I get an error and I have to do it again. Second, the reporting question I get on the companion website is different from the phone app, and is very confusing. In the phone app, it asks whether I was successful (usually a yes) and whether I would like to write something in the journal (usually a no). On the website, I am asked whether I was successful (usually a yes) and WHETHER THIS REPORT IS CORRECT (usually a yes). Numerous times I hit yes and no, and wondered why my report never got submitted. It is a minor annoyance but I can’t be the only one annoyed!

By

Just do it yourself

It mostly works for what it is, but seriously consider just giving the money yourself, rather than committing it through stickK. If you make a mistake and forget to mark your commitment as complete in a particular week, or if THEIR systems go down, you’ve now lost money that’s very difficult to get back. It is not an easy task to get their customer service to respond, and every reply from them takes several days. If you really want to place money down to motivate you, just do it directly with the recipient, stickK is just too much of a liability.

Barely useful without full site features

stickK needs some basic functionality added.

1: Withings scale integration needs to be reflected in stickK as it is on the full site. It's not even reflected on the mobile version of the site. So it's a bit of an inconvenience to have to go to my computer to effectively take advantage of the automatic weight reported by Withings. Even worse, because Withings reports the unrounded up weight change to the second decimal point--which is awesome--my manual entry which is rounded up doesn't benefit from my full weight loss which is rounded up on the scale itself, and then reported manually when I don't feel like going to my computer.

2: stickK tells you when your next report is due, but...it doesn't even tell you what your next weight goal should be. One must again exit stickK and go to the mobile or desktop sites simply to remind of what your next weigh-in goal should. Such basic functionality is sorely absent from the iPhone app, making the experience far more frustrating and inconvenient than it should be.

Thank you.

By

No functionality!

You can't set reminders or get any notifications. All it does is show you what your goal is and what week it is. I hope they add ways to help yourself keep on track. This is the age of Apps. Not the age of logging onto a website at home on my computer.

By

Trying to get my money out

I’m either going to get my money out that I tried to transfer to PayPal or I am going to file a lawsuits and request Apple remove this scam from the store.

By

Nice looking, but needs more functionality

I like the look of stickK , but it needs more functionality to help users stay on track to meet their goals. For example, no where on stickK currently does it tell you your next target (e.g. weight goal for the week). It only tells you what your next reporting date is.

Also, please fix the bug on stickK and the mobile site that turns apostrophes into forward slashes.

Some things to work out, but stickK has a lot of potential!

By

Always Have to Log In

stickK is a great and doesn't seem to have any competition. I really don't like that you have to log in everytime and it is so slow. Just make a thumb or face recognition like other apps to log-in if you need to make it secure.

By

I give major credit to StickK!

I have been using this app every week, without fail, for over a dozen years. I credit it for boosting my incentive to reduce weight, be more disciplined about exercise, keep more focused and reduce procrastination.

A BIG side benefit from this app comes when I faithfully record my weekly progress data. Simply measuring and entering data has given me the peace of mind that I am overall “moving in the right direction” - regardless of the many ups and downs that may occur from day to day.

As a retired psychologist, I think this app is a brilliantly designed method for leveraging a person’s built-in motivation to obtain progress toward long-term goals, especially those goals that require steady discipline to create effective new habits.

By

Non existent customer service

I’ve been trying to reach them for days by the phone number and email provided but no reply. My password will not work due to a data leak and stickK won’t let me reset it. I’m still being “charged” for not reporting on time even though I’ve been trying.
Disappointed 🙁

By

DO NOT USE- CAUTION

stickK will not allow me to report or reset my password. It worked for two weeks and was awesome. Then, all of a sudden, I couldn't login. I had to disable my credit card right away otherwise stickK would charge me.

By

Horrible customer service

Fraudulently charged me because the entire service was down during my reporting period. Absolute joke of a company. No customer service response
