App has many problems and poor customer service

2022-05-27

At some point HabitBull stopped counting the number of days that I had been counting a habit and I had to write to customer service many times before they finally answered. They suggested that I delete all the data on my iPhone and then they tried to help me re-install all of it, but HabitBull was not allowing me to re-install it, so again after writing to customer service many times, they asked me to send a screen shot of my phone to them. After viewing my screen shot, they told that there was a problem with their app and I would not be able to retrieve any of my data. This whole process was very time consuming. I would recommend finding a habit app that is not this app.

Goal tracking numbers flawed

2022-06-28

I like the simplicity, but there is an error tracking goals with number requirements. When setting goals, you choose yes/no (you did it or did not do it) or number goals (you track a specific number of something). When you set a number goal, the default is “not more than” so you can put something like consume “not more than” 1500 calories. When HabitBull actually creates the goal, it switches “not more than” to “at least”. So now the goal is only accomplished if you eat 1500 calories OR MORE. I have written to them at least 3 times and have only gotten an automated response. The problem may be corrected in the paid version, but I won’t risk spending money on the paid one if the free one works this poorly and I can’t get support for the problem.

Streaks Lost Due to Year Change

2022-07-29

I have looked and looked and looked and cannot find a way to contact anyone about HabitBull. I truly love the simplicity and design of HabitBull, and it has helped me build some great habits. My qualm is that it could not / did not keep track of the streaks during the week of the new year. I believe there is an issue with the programming of HabitBull that does not account for the year change properly. I would love to carry over my habits from 2017 into 2018, but the streak count started over on January 7th, the first day of the first full week of the year. I hope that someone from HabitBull reads this as it was the only way I could think to get your attention.

Almost perfect

2022-08-30

I find HabitBull to be very motivating. Personally, I *hate* having those little red notifications on the corner of my icons. By having a countdown for which I have to complete my daily habits to make the number go away I am motivated to get them done. I used to remember to take my medicine maybe three times a week, if I take it daily (maybe I should add something for memory). My only complaint is that the notification number doesn’t appear until I go into HabitBull for the first time each day. I have forgotten to take my meds once or twice after I realized that the number wasn’t there yet after leaving the house.

Used for over a year, seeing big changes

2022-10-01

UPDATE: I’ve been a long user, and tried to get premium but it seems they’ve upped premium to $20/yr. This is very steep considering that they formerly used to be a 1-time payment of $4.99. Can anyone explain this? An annual subscription for an app (no web version) is my only complaint, hence the 4-star rating

I could never stick to flossing my teeth or working out until I downloaded this habit app. One of the most sufficient habit tracking apps for FREE that there is . It helps you set habitual times for when you’ll do your habit, and how you want to measure the completion of your habit. Clean interface, great community of people who may also share your habit! Only thing is I think there’s a limit to the # of habits you can have under a free account, but it doesn’t matter because change starts literally ONE HABIT AT A TIME, and I learned that the hard (but eventually satisfying) way. So try it!!!

Good app, but just got aggressive

2022-11-01

I’ve been using this app for a year now to help manage long projects (like reading every book I own, keep room clean, etc.). I’ve often wanted to upgrade but my finances are not at a place where I can justify in app purchases.

So I resolved to use the free version until I pay off all my debt and get to a place where I’m comfortable spending.

This last week, HabitBull got really aggressive. I opened it to check off that I cleaned my room and it gave me a pop up asking me to buy it. Okay, I thought, can’t fault it for trying. I clicked on the x at the top, but instead of giving me the data screen, it acted like I’d tried to make a purchase. I cancelled it and it said purchase failed, but the screen stayed up, preventing me from entering my data for the day. (Several hours later I managed to enter the data before I got the pop up again, with the same issue)

I’m hoping this is just a glitch, and will soon be fixed, not a punishment for longtime users who haven’t upgraded.

Other positives about HabitBull . I love that it lets you backtrack or go ahead. When one of my goals is to read a chapter a day, it’s nice to be able to make up days when I couldn’t get to it, or read ahead in anticipation of a family gathering/job/ class where I know I won’t have time.

So close to perfect

2022-12-03

I downloaded HabitBull unaware that it wasn’t formatted specifically for iPad, so I was confused when I couldn’t find an option to make the font smaller. I wanted badly to be able to zoom out because everything was so big on my iPad. I then realized that it was actually the phone version just displaying really big, with no option to make the text smaller or do some other adjustments to see more habits at one time.

I adore the colors. I adore the layout and the way you easily just tap to check in and you can do it for every day and keep track even if you go over your goal. Lots of apps only let you "check in" that you completed a task for the max days you said you wanted to do it, so if you go over you can’t record that. HabitBull lets you at least see and record that you did it (but can your percentage then go over 100%? I forgot to check...)

I just wish this was formatted for iPad! (and someday desktop!)

I just want to see more of my habits at a time and not feel like a grandma who can’t see. (No offense to grandmas and the blind)

Love this app

2023-01-03

HabitBull is a daily fixture for me. I love it. Two (hopefully) small requests. First, I'd like to export my data, modify it in excel (to add comments en masse), then reimport it. Second, I already track some habits via other apps (like Fitbit). Nevertheless, I love the visual aspect of HabitBull. It would be great if there was integration with IFTTT or some other apps so that some of the habits could be automatically tracked.
I have tried to export multiple times and it keeps claiming I have no email address set up
Lastly, you might get more converts from other apps if you had a quick 'import your data' option in the settings page. It's the best habit app on the market and I want it to do well.

Data driven results

2023-02-04

If you work best seeing data ( how many drinks did I have each day, each week, a month, how long was I able to keep to my goals) then this is a simple and effective app. The free version allows you to track 5 goals, which is a good amount. I’ve had this for a long while and the visualization of my accomplishments (days exercised, meditation, quit drinking, any goal you have) or times I have trouble have been very helpful. My only note is that the “current month”and “current totals” are showing the same numbers. The “current month” doesn’t actually change within the month, it’s showing the totals since the goal was started, which is the same as “current total”. If the WONDERFUL writer of HabitBull could adjust the “current month” to be the sum of each individual month, and totals to be accounting for the whole goal period, I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL!

Ugly hero

2023-03-08

Love HabitBull. Simple, flexible, effective. Gives you all functionality you need for free, while being much more robust and thought through than other apps I tested (I tracked 5 habits for more than a year).
Yeah, you can’t turn “pretty UI” in settings, it goes as it is. Statistics could look better, and I want to be complemented more often. But I moved to paying users right now because I want to appreciate those months it worked great for me. Thank you!

Great Functionality - try it & change your life

2023-04-06

this app works flawlessly as described. You can get creative with how you create goals/habits if they overlap slightly and make the most of the 5 allowed in the free version. One example, I started with 3 individual goals each for one a snack during the day; this used most of my goal but after a week I reworked that to be one ‘numeric’ goal with three timed reminders through the day. Even with reworking this and making more space in the free app, I’m contemplating purchasing a month to see how I like the further functionality.

For me, I’ve been down the road of calendar appointments but that causes real scheduling conflicts as well as the world of too many iPhone “Reminders” that don’t repeat exactly how I’d like. this app has solved all of these functionality issues in a sleek and straight forward program!

Great motivation

2023-05-08

I have trouble sticking to new habits and have tried several apps. this app has a good balance of simplicity and depth of data - it’s easy and intuitive to use, was easy to set up, and lets you look at your history / trends if you like to dig in to that kind of thing. It’s got a “don’t break the streak” component, motivational quotes and upbeat reminders. HabitBull isn’t available for Apple Watch, but if you mirror notifications from your phone, you can still get reminders and check off habits via your watch, which I really appreciate.

I have become a multi millionaire after a week of using this app

2023-06-08

No! I haven't become a multi millionaire, but I feel like a million bucks because I'm reaching goals and creating consistent habits because of the organization and liability that HabitBull gives me. It's fun seeing your progress. Habits are hard to obtain, but for some reason HabitBull gives you the push to take those first steps. I still have a ways to go, but it reminds me to keep moving forward even if I do mess up a day or two.

Works great

2023-07-10

Such a pleasing and easy to use interface. Keeping my streak going and being able to see the graphs and numbers so neatly tracking my success is very motivating. The reminders are helpful and not annoying. I appreciate that premium is a one-time fee - well worth it to track more habits and be able to download the data. this app has helped me stay more consistent with the habits I want to develop, for example remembering to drink water during days off too or encouraging myself to get enough sleep during the work week, not just on the weekend.

Has all of the features I wanted. Especially...

2023-08-10

I like that HabitBull allows me to track habits that occur multiple times in a day (namely, fruit and veg servings). That is something I found missing from most other habit apps. Those that did have it were not as easy to use. Other features important to me are to see my progress in all my habits for the week on one screen and the ability to update them all from that same screen. Handy and quick which is what I wanted. I also like the user customization options and the ease of entering data. HabitBull for me has it all. Nice work, devs.

Helped me quit smoking!

2023-09-11

HabitBull is incredible helpful for any goal you have or habit you’re trying to create for yourself. You set your own parameters for what “success” looks like to you. HabitBull makes you feel good when you succeed daily and makes you aware of when you’re falling short without inciting self-hatred. You can create multiple goals and the interface is straightforward and easy to navigate. Whenever you reach a benchmark it lets you know and cheers you on. ☺️ I don’t normally write reviews for apps but this definitely an APP GEM. 10/10 would recommend.

For those motivated by numbers

2023-10-13

Transforming a habit from theory to reality takes a lot of hard work - some folks use rewards to get there, some use positive feedback. But I'm an introvert that likes to chart progress with numbers and diagrams - that translates into something that motivates me. If this sounds like you, this app is perfect. It's simple to use and also allows in-depth analysis. Its reminders aren't too intrusive, but they are helpful. Another bonus, especially compared with similar apps, is that the small fee which unlocks the premium features is a one-time fee, not one that hits you annually or monthly! Prove that you care about yourself and get HabitBull!

Easy to use, customizable habits, motivational

2023-11-13

I started with a paper goal planner which was great for organizing the day but not do great for habit tracking to get to my goals.
Do I decided to try an app. I read reviews (many) and downloaded 5 apps. After adding sample habits to each and tracking for a few days, I settled on this app. I liked that I could have a mix of habits that were weekly and daily. Some that I could only track M-F for work. Some that tracked negative habits like no more than 1 drink on a work night. And counting habits like 8 glasses of water a day.
It’s easy to open HabitBull and tick off that I drank my water with each glass. It’s also so satisfying (and motivating) to see I met all my habits for the day. Keeps my going!!
Love it!!!

Best habit tracker I’ve found- Premium is worth it

2023-12-15

This habit tracker is amazing. The Premium subscription is totally worth it if you are setting multiple habits per day (I currently have 12). I love the functionality- editing and updating goals is easy and intuitive and HabitBull offers a lot of flexibility- I take weekends off for some of my goals and this system of days on and off is really easy to set up. I have tried many varieties of habit tracking from pen and paper, planners, etc. and using HabitBull on my phone has by far resulted in the greatest % of accomplishment and ease of reviewing. HabitBull keeps me on track all day because it only takes seconds to open HabitBull and quickly glance at what I need to do. Highly recommend!!!

Great way to form new habits!

2024-01-15

I quit smoking using a different app and found myself with a new desire to improve my life. I was trying to get into the habit of doing various beneficial things and thought that an app that would effectively track my streak would be extremely helpful, because sometimes when the cigarette cravings got really bad I would open my app and think about my existing smoke-free streak. After some hunting I found HabitBull which would work in a similar way and allow me to track up to five habits for free. It has been very helpful in creating and maintaining all of my desired new habits. It would be cool if they would add in like a “legendary” category for habits that have stuck, so that they don’t count as one of the developing ones anymore but so that you could still see your streak. But maybe that’s just me hehe

ADHD under control

2024-12-18

Having ADHD has made my life a nightmare for years has been progressively getting worse over the years. HabitBull was suggested in a book for ADHD organizing help so I thought I’d give it a try as I was getting desperate and I am absolutely glad that I did. HabitBull has been such a help at keeping me on track and so far has been one of the few things that has seemed to work in helping me cope with my problems as a result of my disorder. I can’t thank the creators of HabitBull enough, this truly has been a godsend for me. Even after I build up habits I will more than likely keep using HabitBull so I don’t relapse back into my old habits and forgetfulness.

Features

To assist you with this HabitBull lets you set reminders for each habit and displays them on days when you need to be successful.

It can also be used as a calendar planning tool or checklist, but also as a very effective repeating reminder (e.g. to drink water every 2 hours).

• Very flexible goals like: number of times per day/week/month, only on certain days of the week etc.

Simply start tracking bad habits like nail biting, smoking or drinking too much.

To break one, find another one which is similar, yet different and nicer, and repeat it until it sticks.

This is especially useful if you have a to do list with repeating tasks or if you want to be reminded to do the same thing every day.

The task is to get a long streak for the habit you are working on by covering your goals.

HabitBull does feel a little like a game in which you compete with yourself.

HabitBull keeps you accountable.

Habits are no more than routines which you perform subconsciously.

Get notified whenever you need to do something important.

Once you see the patterns, it's easier to break them.

To build one - train yourself.

Measure and track anything and everything.
