Petcube - Pet Cam & Online Vet Reviews

When I first got Petcube it was great and allowed for everything I was looking for. I think this may have happened after the last update..but before the update, it was nice that when I opened Petcube and opened a video, it would stay muted until I clicked on unmute. Now after the update every time I open Petcube the audio is not muted, even which my phone on silent it plays sound. This is annoying when Im work in a quite office and want to check on my doggo. Strangely, when I click full screen the audio is then muted, then I can go back to the regular screen and it will stay muted.

On a side note, now when I click on the ‘unmute myself’ or ‘unmute my dog’ buttons, they only stay on for a few seconds then turn right back off again.

Ive uninstalled Petcube and reinstalled it and It seemed to fix the first issue for a couple days, then went back to me having to go to full screen for the audio to be turned off. I would hate to have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling Petcube because of this.

I pay an incredibly high amount of money to this app for premium videos to be saved on the cloud. Guess what I get? Two unusable cameras, sporadic and unreliable motion recordings, and no ability to view the footage live. It’s pretty despicable that a company will take so much money to provide you a service, but that same company doesn’t even care enough to provide you with working product. The cameras are only nine months old by the way. Oh and good luck getting support. Nobody’s ever on the chat. Obviously they don’t care as long as they get your money which you pay a year ahead of time. All so you can have a broken camera with an app that doesn’t work and no one to fix it. Last but not least, it’s really obvious that they turned down the sensitivity of motion detection so that they wouldn’t have to store as much video on the cloud for paying premium customers. As a result, I’ve missed so many treasured moments with my sick pet. Anything to pinch a penny! Shame on you this app.

So i got Petcube when i first got my kitten so that i could watch her while i was gone or at work to make sure she didnt get in any trouble. So far Petcube has been pretty good but has some issues that i think if they ironed out would make it that much better!

Pros :
its a great way to watch your pet.

Relatively fast video and audio over wifi.

Easy to set up and fairly easy to use.

If you pay for the full service it saves videos.

There support team is quick and peetty good at solving the problems.

Cons:
You cant move what order cameras are in.

Petcube doesn't record audio for the videos that it saves only in live does that work.

After each update there can be issues, the current issue i have is my app crashes and wont open even if deleted and reinstalled due to there most recent update.

Sometimes the cameras just stop working and you have to delete them and reinstall the whole camera as if it were new.

All in all i would recommend Petcube to others if they just need something yo get the job done ,and dont care about it working perfect all the time. Outside of that its pretty good:)!

I reached out to customer support after I got the pet cube because when I’m not on wifi, the live feed is frozen or doesn’t load at all. I can, however, access short recorded videos that occur. They asked me to be part of a beta test for a fix they made. Their fix didn’t work. After a literal month of back and forth via email, they said they had a firmware update coming out shortly that fixed the issue. The issue remained. Eventually they gave me my money back and gave me the service free for a year, but since it doesn’t work, I went and bought a different pet camera.

Also, I set my camera and account to private so people couldn’t find me, view my camera, or connect with me. Even so, I still got a random person that reached out to me asking me to view her camera that she was using for porn. I let pet cube know about this too because it seemed my privacy was not as private as they made it seem.

The latest update puts a vet chat page right up front. No longer will your app open up to the homepage you are used to. Instead you have to do a search if you want to see any activity from people you are already following. And now you have to constantly touch the got it button or the X button every single time you go on somebody’s camera because they are constantly reminding you about the controls and how they work and that you have to turn off volume or turn on valium it’s completely ridiculous. They just keep making it worse. I don’t think I’ll probably even be using it much longer. Not to mention the cameras are over priced. You can get much better cameras that pan tilt & zoom for a fraction of the price. The only thing good about it was the social networking feature,,, which they completely screwed up. I have my own Vet, I don’t need their stupid vet check

I love what Petcube can do and all the shelters or other people’s pets it can connect you with.
If the developer could put more buttons to make Petcube easier to navigate that would make it a five star. I go in to play with my cats but then don’t see a way to go check out the other accounts I followed when I first started setting up my account. I have to close Petcube completely just to get out of a live feed from others, just to go look at another.

The last few updates have not fixed the issue with app constantly crashing after watching the video stream. The video crashes after a certain amount of time streaming. Using the latest iPhone still continues to make it crash. There might be a memory leak in Petcube that may be causing the crash after a certain amount of time. It usually crashes after the the stream is on 15 min or longer. Please fix this issue.

Also, it would great if you added Picture in Picture, that would be awesome to still be able to see the video stream while using other functions on my phone.

I find Petcube navigation and interface clunky. I have three cameras and I wish it were easier to jump between cameras. I also wish that you could swipe between video clips when reviewing but you have to back up, find where you left off and select the next clip-very inconvenient and it’s hard to tell the difference between clip thumbnails. Also I dowloaded several videos to keep and they do not save correctly! I can’t share, edit or even replay them - I get errors saying it couldn’t process or something. Really disappointed because I can’t get those back!

EDIT: The developers quickly pushed through a new update and fixed the problem. Appreciate the quick response especially on a holiday weekend.

We normally use Petcube in our household on a daily basis and are usually pretty happy with it. However, Petcube has started crashing instantly every time I open it since the last update. Won’t open at all. There is a fix soon.

I’ve had this app since 2015 and really love the features. Petcube is kinda tricky but once you get to know it, there isn’t much issue. To hear your pet, you have to turn your phone horizontal and from there you can access microphone and audio. Highly recommend for all pet parents! I have had the original this app block and now have the smaller, newer version. Love them both.

I’ve only had my cameras and Petcube for 3 days. Worked ok aside from what I feel are juvenile lag/connection issues that I don’t experience with any of my other tech. Then today Petcube just starts crashing with no response/connection. I’ve restarted my brand new iPhone to ensure that wasn’t the culprit and otherwise uninstalled/reinstalled Petcube multiple times to no avail; worked ~15 minutes after one reinstall.

Turning out to be a huge waste; thinking I should’ve invested in a more expensive/reliable service and I’m super glad I didn’t purchase the premium service like I was planning.

This camera gets the job done as far as being able to see your pet, however, not without making you work for it first. I am constantly having issues trying to get the video footage to show (support said it’s because I’m on a WiFi network other than my home’s… but isn’t the point to see my pet when I’m AWAY from home?) and the audio rarely works. When I do get the camera to show, I usually have to reset every few seconds as the video will freeze. It’s worth the money you spend on it, since you get what you pay for.

It worked great for about a month, and then randomly the video stopped working and there’s a huge audio issue. It use to automatically mute you until you tapped unmute but now it automatically unmutes you the moment you open Petcube which scared the crap out of my dogs when they heard the loud noise from the restaurant I was in.
And I can’t unmute myself until the video loads which now it never does (even if I’m in WiFi and have a good internet connection)

I don’t know what happened but I’d love for Petcube to work the way it use to. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I overall love Petcube and camera.

However, I often have trouble connecting to it whenever I wanna look through it. It gets stuck on getting video even though I have a good connection. Furthermore, it doesn't automatically let me hear anything. To start listening I have to manually hit the mic and then turn off the mic.

Other than that Petcube is great and let's my friends check on my boy for me.

I setup my this app and the video works but there is no audio whatsoever. I purposely bought a camera with audio as I’m trying to monitor barking. Even though you can turn the audio on in Petcube , Petcube does not request permission from your iphone to use the microphone so I can’t hear or speak through Petcube . I contacted support for help and they tried to do an update to the camera (didn’t work) and told me to uninstall and reinstall Petcube (also didn’t work). Even tried to do a factory reset on my phone to see if my phone was the issue which didn’t work, leading me to believe Petcube is flawed.

I bought the camera a few months ago and loved how easy it was to access and record. I’ve paid my subscription ever since. In the last min h to be specific my camera never records. I can’t connect without it scrolling for 5min. I hen I finally connect my camera isn’t recording and all of my video filters have shut off so that nothing is recording and I can’t see my pets. What happened??? I’ve reset my video filters probably 8 times in the last few weeks every time I leave nothing records, I can’t connect and it’s frustrating. Can someone help?

The program was great until the last update. I used to be able to log in, have a really clear picture that encompassed almost my whole living room. Now the picture is grainy and I only see half the living room… disappointed! Am looking for a different system.

I’ve been using Petcube for years I have three cameras. Something went wrong about a month or 2 ago maybe longer the videos are delayed by several seconds I need to watch what my cats do at night as I sleep . So when I wake up and View recordings there’s several Moments between videos when the cats are active but yet they’re not beng tracked and in completely different places with each video it is not tracing how am I supposed to figure out things about my cats at night if the video motion detector isn’t even working properly? Sad 😔

I wanted to like Petcube but it’s not serving the purpose I need it to. I live in a condo with neighbors that have complained about my dog barking. The whole reason I have this camera is to keep an eye on him for barking and try to calm/redirect him when he does. Well I can’t hear anything except for a crackling sound. I am paying a subscription for something that doesn’t even work. I will have to return the device and cancel the subscription. A refund for the past few months for a service that doesn’t work would be appreciated. Please try to fix the audio!

App is no longer working after the latest update (Apr 2021). Uninstalling and reinstalling fix the issue temporarily but Petcube would soon be back to crashing immediately after every time it is opened, forcing you to uninstall and reinstall again.

Previously, app was working but live camera wouldn’t update (you would need to get out and get back in in order for the live camera to update).

For a camera that functions primarily on Petcube , a non-functioning app practically renders the camera useless.

You have to manually go to each video and click the three dots (which lags and will sometimes not refresh or load correctly) to delete a video. I wish there was an easier way to bulk delete a bunch of videos at once to save time.

Sometimes I check on my cat in my underwear and don’t remember until the next day. It would be nice to quickly remove those for privacy.

Have used this app for a few years now. Anymore it rarely gets motion, when I try to play back video it blinks like day/night, and audio doesn’t seem to go through clear. It used to work flawless. It seems that isn’t the case anymore.

Petcube is so easy to control and awesome to view your pet from. Great app.

App doesn’t let me to connect, says the password is incorrect after requesting to reset password the link Thales me to a page not found. Beyond frustrating and this thing is going back tomorrow.

Latest version has removed the option to turn on the laser.

Is there an application available for the Apple TV. in order to see my furry babies on my Apple TV via an APP?

I received my this app Bites device almost 2 weeks ago, and I am enjoying it a lot. I got it for my recently adopted senior Muttville dog (12 year old Bichon Frise mix), with a severe case of separation anxiety. One thing I learned about her is that she is very food-driven and will respond to commands if given yummy treats. This is where the this app Bites (vs the regular this app) excels. It has the same functions I liked from the regular this app (camera feed and two-way audio), but has the added feature of treat dispensing! Whenever my dog gets anxious, I talk to her via the two-way audio and when she settles I fling her a treat. Honestly, I think it as fun for me to fling the treat on Petcube as it is for her to receive the treat. I like that you can control the “fling” on Petcube depending on where you drag your finger on the screen. Really makes me feel like I am there with her in person (instead of virtually). Overall, I think this product is worth it, it feels high quality from the packaging it comes in to the actual hardware used for it. Extra points for also including treats in the box so I could use it right away!

I purchased the this app after adopting a new rescue puppy and thought it would be nice to be able to check in on him when I have to be away from the apartment. I really love this product - I really like that you can get such a wide coverage area with the camera, not just a narrow scope, and the night vision mode is a cool, unique feature. The size is great and it blends in with my furniture/tables. Nobody even notices it unless the light or laser turns on. The sound has been great too, both on the video playback and the communication through Petcube . I have used the laser pointer, and it works well, but my puppy doesn’t seem interested in it at this time. I could see this being great for a cat.

I think Petcube is great and very easy to use. I did have some trouble at first connecting it to wi-fi but only because I go through an extra modem layer with all of my Apple products but when I connected to my normal cable wifi account, it worked just fine.

Overall, I really love this product and I have recommended to a couple of my friends with pets.

The this app has lots of features that let’s you freely spy on your pet, feed them treats, and speak to them. The camera is amazingly good and can view a great distance and area of a room. The microphone works exceptionally well and allows you to speak with your pet or pets being we have three. The microphone actually works both ways so you can talk to your pet and hear them respond as well. I am also pleased that I get a notification if there is a disruption inside the home. The this app device was super easy to set up and install. The this app also comes with a bag of treats, that are healthy for your pet. You can use any treats you want with the device as long as they meet The proper criteria that matches the sizing on the box. The dispenser does sometimes throw out more than one treat, however the instructions warn that this could happen and has happened once. In the short time I have had it but usually tosses one treat. Definitely love the this app product and recommend it to anyone who wants to know if there stay at home puppy or dog is doing fine.

The this app Bites Pet Camera with Treat Dispenser and the IOS app are easy to set up and fun to use! I did not experience the connectivity issues that others have reported, and could watch the dogs playing from various locations, both inside and outside. My friends and family love to be able to “visit” the dogs whenever they want and offer treats or watch them play. The camera could be used for a bit of home security as well, (or to check on the petsitter). The unit is large and the treat compartment holds a lot of treats. For me, I would like the option of a smaller capacity compartment which would keep treats from getting stale, and prevent over-feeding by the well-meaning visitors throughout the day. The only slight negative would be the crumbs left behind after the treats are tossed, and having some way to contain this would be helpful. Overall, the this app is a fun and useful way to check in on my dogs and share them with friends and family. I love it and so does everyone who has seen it!

My dog and I just moved into an apartment building from the house he's lived in since I adopted him which brought back the separation anxiety he had years ago. When I first got the product, I had a little bit of trouble setting it up (ended up needing to reset it by pressing small button on bottom with pin), but once I got it up and running it has worked great! It's helped me monitor how long he barks and howls for (had never heard my dog howl before using this device!) after I leave. Even though he's mostly better now, I love being able to check in and see how he is doing throughout the day. In our old place, he got into mischief sometimes, and having this would've been great to see how he was knocking over the garbage/opening the cabinet where I kept his food/etc to more quickly figure out a solution! I've used it at night and was very impressed with the night vision camera! I definitely recommend this to any pet owner!
