SpectrumSD has been marginal ever since we were forced to adopt it by our answering service. With IOS 13, now it won’t allow voice dictation for creating messages. Now I have to dictate a message into the Notes app, then cut and paste into SpectrumSD message window. Also doesn’t support use of apostrophes, quotation marks or line breaks. Messages look like the author is illiterate. Lack of ability to tweak the alert tone is also an issue. I can’t imagine it would be that hard to address these and the other issues brought up in the other reviews.
Bad app. Don’t recommend because it has been unreliable and has failed to log me in a number of times even with the correct credentials. Could not answer pages. No Face ID or fingerprint to use to log in. I don’t use any more for those reasons.
I am not receiving notification sounds. Yes I have already checked the notifications section and sounds; both on.
Please give us an update to allow us to change the alert tone. My job has a new answering service and the new tone is like a loud boat horn! Scared the crap out of me. Please update!!!!
Poor functioning app. Please allow customization to change the alert tone off of the stupid bell!!!!
App is horrible. Logs you out. Slow. Repeatedly sends messages that you have already cleared. Have to uninstall and reinstall. Horrible. Don’t recommend.
1) you can’t control the volume of alert
2) you can’t put it on vibrate
3) it’s absolutely the worst app for messaging I’ve seen
4) look elsewhere this isn’t what anyone needs
Do user interface for this will bring back your nostalgia for the 1980s. Set up is difficult and our cake. Very one dimensional. Twistle is a superior app and service. Avoid this like the plague.

The most recent update broke notifications. I no longer get a sound, a banner or a badge even though all 3 are turned on. Useless as an on call doc.
Alert is not loud enough to wake me. Is not adjustable but should be so can choose different alerts, adjust volume and chose number of repeats.
There definitely should be options in terms of volume control and alarm options. Also, the notifications are not consistent when you receive a message, so I highly recommend setting up the option where you ALSO receive a text notification.
There are better HIPAA-compliant messaging apps out there (ie. TigerText), but this one is very capable, and I have no reservations about recommending it.
Pros: Simple & intuitive interface. Allows me to text back my answering service staff. The address book is pushed to SpectrumSD , so it mustn’t be built from scratch.
Cons: It doesn’t support attachments (PDFs, EKG tracings, photos, x-rays). Occasional connection errors. Replies sent to texts aren’t “threaded”, so following a conversation is difficult.
