I work nights & there have been some rare occasions, like today, where going home to get rest between shifts wasn’t an option (the details would be irrelevant) but I have wondered—even just out of curiosity before—if there were even such a thing to exist in my general area (which happens to be in the United States & not being in an überly populated location, such as only being subjected to locations like New York or LA) where I would like to know if I could rent a room somewhere to sleep (ideally a hotel room) but specifically for the daytime or even a few hours and would not need it at night. Checking in at a “typical” hotel check-in time like 3pm?—only to sleep for a bit & head back to work at night to then only return back to the hotel room in the morning only to prepare for check out a couple hours after that? All of that would be a pointless feat in my situation or, at minimum, just wildly insufficient even while utilizing things like early check-ins/late checkouts. Not to mention, doesn’t come close to being worth whatever-amount I would pay for even some some of the cheapest hotel options in my area, just for making a hassle out of the ability to just lay on a bed somewhere for a few sporadic & interrupted hours— also not helping that it’s Saturday & last minute & with every place seeming to be at its most tip-top nightly, weekend premium rate: making even ‘the crappy hotels’ or Airbnb’s, etc, tip over at around $120 *at the lowest*— or just something comically high for 1 night compared to any weekday night & for what any place in particular is. Nonetheless, if I wanted to waste my money & screw myself around just for somewhere to put my head for awhile, I’d still be tinkering around or aimlessly sitting in my car somewhere for hours upon hours, just waiting ‘til it’s allowed to check in, when I’m off work sometime after 6 or 7 in the morning. So, the idea to find a “day pass” (which was one—out of a several few—different, similar terms that I came across when I went looking up such possibilities on Google & what have you) was a search that inevitably doesn’t come easy, it turns out. And only kept lending me back to various sites & apps (like this one) that were all pretty comparably “bad”.
“Bad” in terms of, no matter how well (or lack thereof) the FEATURES may’ve worked of any said app/site… it just became tirelessly apparent that trying to find a place to rent for the day to get some shuteye (and god forbid a place that’s actually available on that day & also doesn’t happen to be an hour or so drive away just to reach— maybe— the nearest ‘option’ or vacancy). Unfortunately it just must not be as big of a “thing” as I would hope. With maybe some exceptions if you happen to be located in the exact right spot in the world. Any similar app or site can sound “great” while under a misconstrued context of promising 600, or a thousand, or more hotel locations being “worldwide to choose from”… but in the grand totality of just any individual person hoping to book a nearby “day hotel” local to them on any average day (like on a work day) the options…are…*well*… not promising. At the least.
as I would hope. that’s widely knowable or better yet accessible by a diverse range of hotels
